which means now i have to update my x8 to latest 2.1 eclair, and the root and install CWM recovery, and no need to unlock bootloader? no need to flash custom kernel? stock kernel can do just fine?
Yea...if u havent root, use stock rom,2.1 eclair (not like u have other rom),root, install xrec or CWM, then flash Gingerdx ( follow the instruction at gdx thread)
Sent from my XPERIA X8 using XDA App
so i dont need to unlock bootloader and install custom kernel? awesome! coz i don like to do so
nop just have that on your cel and you can flash it, and remember making a full wipe for better results on the rom
Just root, install CWM, and flash the rom, modded kernel is not required
Do not install GingerDX with xRecovery, it will have bugs if you do, use CWM and before you install the rom, do a full wipe.

Facing a Problem on gingerdx on Linuxdx,
Used this combination for last 2 wks had no problem, today I activated the 3g on it,
Now the Market App is not working, Internet is quite slow, Apps are not downloading and restarts.
It is not so that i have not updated apps, I used to do the same by Wi-Fi Hotspots,
Can somebody help me on this,
rom and kernel
To flash KERNEL you need unlock bootloader.
To install ROM you need root + recovery.

Excuse, but I installed it with xRecovery and I have no bugs. I only feel that battery draining is higher than stock ROM, but that's all. I've used it for a week without problems.

u can use with stock kernel too, if u wanna use custom kernel then u need to unlock bootloader, and all gingerdx roms v14 and above needs to be installed with cwm
go to settings/ Accounts & Sync and hit auto-sync or down on list hit on gmail account
I have cwm 3.2.0.0 is the same thing with cwm v014+???
hi,
i have stock Galaxy s i9000 with 2.3.4 XXJVP.. i want to install Semaphore kernel... hoping it will improve overall performance and give even better performance with games like asphalt 6,,..
all i want to know is that can flash it over my stock with SGS kernel flasher??? or are there any other pre requirements for it???
or is there any better kernel for playing games lag free??
THX
Ny reply??? :-(
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
You can install this Kernel via Odin easily, and YES it will improve your overall performance
Ps.:Flash Gingerbread 2.3.6 its really good
Remember to disable lagfix.
The best kernels for playing games on gingerbread roms are the Semaphore Bigmem kernels. But if you really want lag-free and super smooth gaming, you should consider using froyo 2.2.1 roms.
Oh, and to answer your question, yes you can flash the kernel using the kernel flasher app, but it's probably safer to use Odin.
Thx fr the replies...
I would want to know which version of semaphore to download..??? Thrre are two versions.. 2.1 & a bm version ...

How do you do this?
you should download the RIGHT kernel, if you have JVP download the kernel for JVP ,not the kernel for JVZ.
for gaming and performance TalonDEV kernel is the best
Semaphore kernels link
Hey can someone give me the link to semaphore jvt 1.9.2 kernel?
TIA

If you dont know, you probably dont have to. My guess is you have never used lagfix or ext4. if you think you might have, go to cwm recovery - shut down phone, hit the 3 button combo (power + home + volume up) until samsung galaxy boot screen appears and leave the buttons immediately. in the recovery mode, go to advanced and see if theres any option for Lagfix or Ext4.

No you should not do that. Use a kernal that is meant for your firmaware. If you want to flash semaphore 2.1.1, first upgrade your firware to JVZ using Odin. The are plenty of links to this firware under General.

Hey sorry have been away. Well you should be able to flash a kernel but there arent many out there and i am a little wary of flashing a kernel as they are all in a very experimental stage. Moreover, i find teamhacksung's (pawitp's) build to be more stable and the aries kernel was a whole lot more better. hated glitch the moment i flashed it.
Happy flashing...

Have you done full wipe after flashing the ROM? (backup your contacts /sms before doing this) this would normally resolve such problems
you can always change kernels, so just try ICS semaphore kernel or ICS devil, links in My Android Collections
But First powerdown, pull out Battery, press power button for a minute, than powerup
Hi,
thank you very much for quick reply.
I did full wipe, installed zip from sd-card; then booted; after that I installed 2nd time...everything was fine.
But on daily use; phone is very laggy, switching from one to another "window" is very slow; apps open slowly...
I will take a look at your collection and try Devil`s3.1.4.1.CFS_BLN_CMS - kernel.
Thanks a lot.
Rgrds,
miki306
Hi xsenman,
I realized, that after a reboot the battery lost 5-6% and during night (phone switched off) I lost 15-18% of battery.
I assume, phone doesnt go into "deep sleep" or "complete off"?
Can I improve that? Can I change sth. at Devil`s Kernel manager?
Please advice?
Thanks a lot....!
I suggest to try diffent rom - cm10 for example
can anyone help me?
my touch screen error after i'm using custom rom..
it keep on pressing when i tried to touch it. it makes me really difficult to type a message.. it keeps on pressing another character when i pressing 1 character...
I noticed that the problem increase when i'm using oc kernel.
I tried using cm7.2 custom rom : Kitkat smart R2, which using 2.6.35.7 perf kernel, the problem reduce, but still exist..
Where can i download the kernel so that i can use all the custom rom, and reflashing the kernel manually?
thanks before
Any Help please ??

Well You can try Marmite or Matrix kernels. They are well developed. And you can google for it and try to post this question in Galaxy Ace Development section.
Good Bye
