H'm... there you go.....
Ics - Ice cream Sandwich android 4.0
No you cannot get custom kernel without unlocked bootloader
Modules I don't know the exact term. just Wikipedia it.
it basically add some features that you get on custom kernel while you use stock kernel

Most of your questions is solved by Google, anyway, here we go:
1- ICS = Ice Cream Sandwich - Android 4.0
2- Miui = ROM/firmware based in Android, but with a nice interface (more info http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MIUI)
3- Modules are tiny scripts that you have to load in stock kernel to get dual touch, over clock, etc.
4- Download FlashTool (Google it) to install kernels. Custom kernel have modules already buit in, support for swap, and a better performance overall.
5- You have to unlock your bootloader.

if i try to unlock i can trow my phone into garbage! (11W44)

if you cant unlock bootloader, you can use your stock kernel with modules. such as multitouch, overclock, undervolt, etc.
- download it from threads,
- copy to ur /system/lib/modules/,
- then edit your hw_config.sh,
- add this script "insmod /system/lib/modules/<module>.ko"

what else can i do with modules??
suggestions pls!

you can get dual touch I.e pinch to zoom will work..

fake dual pincth zoom already have!
other things?

Ok, since there are no really helpful replies ... though most of the question can be answered by doing some research in the forums (I know: *effort* *reading*)

swap is virtual memory on either a separate partition or in a file to where the kernel can swap out currently unused memory pages to free up real RAM.
This is NOT "magically upgrading RAM", this may just help to get RAM-hungry apps (i.e. Games that behave like a resource hog) running.
Note that using swap may degrade the lifetime of your mSD card considerably when there's a lot of swapping going on!

ICS is short for Ice Cream Sandwich which is otherwise also known as Android 4.0.x
Donut - Android 1.6
Eclair - Android 2.0 / 2.1 (yes, Google failed to come up with a new name for 2.1)
Froyo - Android 2.2
Gingerbread - Android 2.3
Honeycomb - Android 3.0 (was only meant for Tablets)
Ice Cream Sandwich - Android 4.0
Jelly Bean - Android 5.0 (not out yet)

A custom ROM that was originally built for ARMv7 devices (i.e. Xperia X10). Now that the MIUI team open sourced the ROM it can be ported to the ARMv6 architecture of the X8/X10mini as well.

It generally refers to modules for the (Linux) Kernel (yes, Android runs a Linux Kernel) which extend functionality - like providing support for other filesystems (ext3, ext4), CPU governors (frequency scaling), Dual Touch, Undervolt, Overclock, etc etc

No, you can't install a custom Kernel on your phone due to the date code being too new. So we leave this part out.

No. To install a custom kernel you need to unlock the bootloader. There's no way to boot a custom kernel WITHOUT unlocking the boot loader.

thanks B.Jay
is it possible to make a way to install kernel without unlocking bootloader(in future,I mean are people trying to do that)

No. Impossible. A kernel requiring no boot loader unlock? Thats crazy talk.
No, people are not trying to do that. It is impossible. Easy peasy
The reason that a kernel requires your bootloader to be unlocked is because.....
The kernel is the software layer between the ROM and the hardware. Changing the kernel could possibly lead to either you,or the dev changing the hardware.
Changing the hardware and CPU Requires more than just root access. Sorry if you cant understand this. Im not at my computer. I will edit this tomorrow so it makes more sense.
Anyway hope it helped

Noob Question: Why crack the bootloader?

Hey guys I've searched around the net and couldn't find an answer to my question, I'm a noob to android so don't eat me. Anyways I've read that the Bootloader makes that we boot to the signed kernel so that we can't use custom roms. But the X8 has a locked bootloader don't it? But we're using custom roms like FroyoBread, Floyo, MiniCM, KuyaDroid and GingerDX. What more can be achieve with cracked bootloaders? Well I mean since everything on FroyoBread works.
Thanks in Advanced,
Anzzle.

I have searched :/ It said it "allows the use of Custom ROMs" But aren't we already using custom ROMs like FroyoBread without cracking the bootloader? What are custom kernels that you speak of?
Thanks.
Benefits of unlocked bootloader: no modules no more... we'll have all those things in kernel itself.
More stabillty and performance..
Native overclock, undervolt, overvolt when needed...
A lot of other tweaks like incrasing in-call volume etc...

Hi funny name guy.
1) recovery is on mmcblk0p4. You can easily install custom recovery once your rooted. It's in a sticky in one of these threads.
2) If you wan't custom use Huexxs Diana kernel.
3) backlight buttons are from kernel and needs to be integrated. The V30 repack has the functionality built in to modify the timeouts but I don't know of anything that can turn them off.
If your new here go read NOOBY's how to's they have pretty much every thing you need.

rom with orginal sony's apps ??

first i have a w8 with 12w02 and i see a lot of roms with stock kernel but all of them (as i know) based on CM, so i really miss sony's apps like alarm, clock...
guys pls tell me a rom is a ported from xmini, lww... so we both have ginger bread and sony's apps
tks
But they are good roms, just try. As i know its not possible to port from 2011 devices. Cause they are armv7, x8 is armv6

Try the old (but good ) GingerCruzt rom. This have SE look, and use some original SE app. Up to 8.4 it works on stock kernel (the latest 8.5 require custom kernel). And some xgin roms use some SE apps (widgets, contacts app, etc) around version 5.6-6.0. These roms is abandoned, and hard to find working download link. Unfortunatelly only these old hybrid solutions exist (cm7 + some SE apps) for stock kernel. If you lucky, maybe in the android development section you can find newer stock based roms what contains original SE apps (I not follow every rom threads), but do not want too much, these roms usually contains only SE launcher, timescape, some original widgets, dialer/contacts, xperia themed message app, 50-90% xperia look, and some apps what have modified UI to look similar to the SE apps.
Try semc Debrand by achotjan little buggy but stable and workable, does require custom kernel tho

unfortunately, the op's date is 12wXX. so unlocking his bootloader is a huge risk.
@op: i understand your preference for sony's stock apps. but there are a lot of nice alternatives for them. if you don't want that, stock rom is pretty good (considering the situation).

I don't know...About the risk i think that it would be better if you won't unlock your bootloader, because you don't know what date of manufacturing you have, and it's not with old kernel. This is the date of manufacturing the motherboard.
@voncount from who you know that you have 11w21 ?
I think GingerCruzt or XGin..

nobody mentioned it so i would like to point it out here... it may be because background data might be off?
and if you get a phone call then your net gets disconnected. that might be causing it.

C6903 - CyanogenMod 11 for Locked Bootloaders - Help needed!

Hello guys, I'm acquiring some info about how to build the CM11 to Honami with locked bootloader.
@Olivier already did it to Xperia S and @letama said to me that MAYBE we can do the same to Z1.
I'm not a dev at all, but for sure I have some skill (I hope!).
So, I have to ask first, did anyone already tried it? Worked? Didn't work?
If anyone is willing to help, please, let me know.

Well, this solution doesn't use kexec. It basically hijack stock firmware android boot to boot the alternate firmware but it's using stock kernel, that's why it can work with locked bootloaders. The only requirement is that cm or aosp should run on stock kernel and doesn't require a modified kernel. As you have kitkat on your device, there is a good chance that it does.
But it doesn't, that's why it does not work and a modified ramdisk (Hence modified kernel, hence unlocked bootloader) is needed
Hence kexec is needed, but that seems like a lost hope on Xperia Z devices
Nothink is imposible i hope
No, nothing is impossible, but there has to be enough effort spent on it.
Personally I don't think there will be as most devs got bootloaders which can be unlocked...hence they do not need kexec
In future its always preferable to check this before purchase
mabe don't need to unlock bootloader but workaround this - mabe multiboot or kexec will be more developed because more phone will released with LB and this is their new policy :/

Ramdisk is not a problem... When I say kernel, I mean zImage, not zImage+ramdisk: we extract cyanogen ramdisk in the boot hijack.
Kernel drivers combined to Android hal is what I meant and could cause problem depending on how Cyanogen was developed and how Cyanogen kernel source code is far from stock one. That's why we're usually stuck on Cyanogen with the same Android version.
Another solution is to hack Cyanogen code to support stock zImage. It's not for the faint of the heart, but it could be the only solution.
Greg's absolutely right, if your bootloader unlock allowed status is no or you're unwilling to unlock it then i'm afraid you're out of luck, i'm not saying it's impossible that just isn't true, but again as Greg's said this more than likely isn't going to happen as it would take some talented folk a lot of time to accomplish it, with the Z2 having been released and the vast majority of people able to unlock their bootloaders there is little call for someone to have a crack at it.
in all fairness though, the rom's that are available for locked bootloaders are pretty damn good and the launchers that you can install these days gives a near perfect android experience, you'll only be missing things like Halo and custom kernels along with a few mods and such that only appear to be available for cm based roms and the like.
