BOX - Sign Up NOW & 50Gb Free Storage - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

Hi all,
I received a marketing email last night with a deal that was so good I had to share!
A company called "BOX" has released their app onto android:
http://www.box.com/
it is like dropbox, but if you download the android app and sign up through there you get 50Gb of free storage!!!
http://venturebeat.com/2012/02/23/box-android-50gb-free/
I just DL the app, and stuck my email addy in, and 5 seconds later "Welcome to BOX, Free 50Gb account upgrade"
I logged out and signed up as my wife, same thing happened....no confirmation emails were sent just instant access!!!

Are there any file size limitations for what you can upload or download? I know some of the cloud storage sites have some such as 250mb etc.

Free 50gb Of Storage

Just wanted to let you all know that all lg phones can get a free 50gb of cloud storage through the box app. Just download it and create an account and it will automatically give you the storage! It's a littlebit more geared towards business but it's still nice!

Be aware that with box anything you upload, you cannot download. You can open it from the cloud but you cannot for instance upload a file from your phone and download it to your PC.

What's the point then? Haha
Good looks anyway, OP.

I agree. It looked great but then you read the restrictions they put on the free accounts it makes it pointless. There is also no app for your pc like dropbox. I love my drop box. LG should have made the deal with them instead of some lame ass wanna be. Also box restricts file types. So good luck trying to store a video or audio file up there.
I signed up just to check it out, didn't really have anything better to do. So far I've uploaded mp3s, zip, rar, photos, PDF, apks, wouldn't let me up an exe without changing the extension but no big deal for me. the 100mb upload limit sucks, not having a pc app sucks, the 10Gb bandwidth limit I can deal with for now. I was able to download individual files to my pc just not folders, their browser ui kinda sucks and the app is just f*ck ugly but it's free and you do get 50Gb for storage. Overall it's not as good as dropbox but if you know what you're signing up for and can deal with the limitations you should try it out.

With no downloading, I'd get more use out of a cardboard box.
Some LG exec must've been high and got confused.

umm...so I definitely just uploaded a file from my phone and downloaded it to my PC (a jpeg).
Is there some sort of restriction on file size/type? Or do we need to flog Haxcid for tricking us?

eh? Yes, logging in with your LG device (Revo or otherwise) will upgrade your current account to the 50GB, which you'll have permanently. I think that's your question?
I can't seem to find the info on what the file size limit is...hmm.

usually 25mb, the iPhone promo made it 100mb... i'm not sure if having an LG phone will do the same... It doesn't say anything about increased file size in the press release, so go with 25mb...also, my question: If i already got the 50GB promotion through having an iPod, would also having an LG phone make it 100GB? haha (and as I found out, no it won't... unless I want two accounts)

I kinda feel the same, but since it's free and all you have to do to get the 50GB upgrade is sign in with your phone, I decided I might as well. Can't hurt to have another 50GB of cloud storage...who knows, they may upgrade the features in the future.

[Expired] Free 50GB Box Cloud Storage Service to LG Phones & Tablets

Heads up to our newer LG Revolution owners that Box is offering 50GBs free cloud storage. Install the Box for Android app from the market onto your LG, open the Box app, and create your account with the app.
The offer expires on 12/31/12, so don't daddle. More details on this promotion at Box.
What's the catch to getting so much free storage? They limit the file size you can upload to 100MB, if I am not mistaken. I have been using Box for Titanium Backup for a year now, and just recently have I hit this limit.
Edit 12/15/12: Verified that the limit is 250MB per file. Not bad.
Edit 1/4/13: Offer expired. Title updated.

dropbox free space?

I thought the HTC one came with 25GB free dropbox free space, right? How do I get mine, I logged into the website like I did before with my one x but I don't see any promotion.

I just logged into my Dropbox on the phone after first boot and instantly received an email that the 25GB had been added to my account. Don't think you have to do anything special to receive it. 64GB Dev Edition here.
ATT user, flashed Renovate ROM. My first dropbox login on renovate granted me 23gb free space extra.
The 25GB space only last for 2 years
I was going to sign up for it but then what if I actually need the 25Gb of space? I don't wanna pay for that :3
I had 25Gb of Dropbox storage added to my account about 12 months ago when i bought my HTC One XL.
Just upgraded to my HTC One (M7) and tried to get an additional 25Gb, but it doesn't seem to be going though. I did the same steps that i did 12 months ago, but no luck.
Maybe it's only one lot of 25Gb per account
Hi
Greetings,
As per I know we only get 25 gb per account bad to know this as we must Atleast get more gb free when we buy a new phone

I wondered how to get mine as well - then I upload a photo from the phone to dropbox and my 25Gb was activated
Hope this works for you as well
Hmmm... I got the Dev Edition a couple of weeks back and have despite having signed in to Dropbox from my phone right away and used it to upload and download files, I don't see the 25GB. Does this 25GB apply to the Dev Edition phones as well?
Been in contact with HTC, and they actually told me that the free 25GB is only applied to new users, and only applied once.
So if you claimed the free allowance on your One X (just using as an example) You won't be able to get it again when upgrading to the HTC One.
Hope that makes sense?!

I received my Development Edition four days ago. After logging into Dropbox on phone, I received email to activate additional storage about an hour later - - so it would appear that the Dev Edition is eligible.
I was using a galaxy note 2 and i got 50 gigs of Dropbox space and when I got the htc one I got this phone when it came out for att on April 19th and after about a week I got a email from Dropbox saying I got another 23 gigs of space so in my Dropbox I have 73 gigs of space

I think if you sign into dropbox with your existing login, for example from a previous HTC phone then you'll have access to files from previous dropbox account, but won't get an extra 25GB.
If you want a fresh dropbox account then you would get a new allocation of 25GB, but wouldn't merge the two accounts into one 50GB account.
Hope this helps to explain how it works

Received a Google Drive 40GB notification

I recently installed the Bad Boyz 5.5 ROM and a notification popped up that my device is eligible for 25GB of additional Google Drive space, but below that is says that my device couldn't be verified and I should contact a representative. Found some info regarding this here:
http://www.androidcentral.com/updating-htc-sense-55-claim-25gb-free-google-drive-space
BUT... since we're not supposed to have Sense 5.5 yet, I'm not too keen on contacting anyone. Anyone else get this message?
Just got that notice on blink feed today. It showed me the same message as well.

thanks for the heads up, this is badass. maybe i'll switch to Gdrive instead of dropbox
Even though i didn't get the 40gb they offer 15gb no strings attached

You need a locked bootloader in order to be verified.

So since I'm s-off, I can just do the command to re-lock the phone and then I should be able to get the extra storage?

I tried this already and it didn't work... I'm pretty sure it's because our sense 5.5 roms don't have the official firmware for sense 5.5 we have modified sense 5 firmware

Motox gets 50 free gigs. Maybe it would work to add your account to an in-store demo, get the extra space then factory reset

Good idea, was checking one out at Best Buy yesterday, wish I would have thought of this.
According to the article, you need to have Sense 5.5 installed so it would appear that we'll have to wait until there's an OTA update before we can try to claim the additional space.
No, your bootloader needs to be unlocked in order ti claim the bonus. You can just relock the bootloader, claim it and relock again. The downside is that you'll loose all your data

Nofriendsbz3 already tried what you suggested with no luck. There's obviously more to it than the locked bootloader.
1. Go to a retailer of a droid mini or moto X with live demos. (I went to best buy)
2. Add your gmail account
3. Download, open google drive, accept free 50GB.
4. Remove your google account from demo phone.
5. Profit
That's a lot of space. Lol I can't even fill a 16g flash drive.

Funny story... I followed your suggestion on a Moto X at a Verizon store. Got the 50GB notifivation, but couldn't remove my account info from the phone. So I performed a factory reset, just as a sales rep walked up to ask if I had any questions. The phones is showing a "resetting screen" while the rep looks over my shoulder. I said something along the lines of "Oops... I think I hit wrong button.". I set down the demo phone and walk out of the store.
Got 66 GBs now, so no complaints!

Haha awesome. I almost had to do the same but demo mode wanted a password to reset. To remove account, go to settings, account, push your Gmail account where you can select what gets synced, then top right push the 3 dot menu and remove.

I had the 50 gb free from my galaxy s3, and I could not use the 50gb from the note 4 on the same account, if you read the faq it says each account is only eligible for 1 storage upgrade (or words to that affect)
Simple (only? ) work around, new account.
