Hi all.
I have a SPVM3100 which I think is almost the same as a TyTN II
What I would like to do, is have the phone work as a webcam using the front facing camera and have it upload over wifi pictures to a website or have the camera accessible from another PC so I can see what the camera can see?
Anyone done this before?
thanks
john

Need to make a video call via WiFi connection with a 3G phone. I know we can do it.
Videocall : Pocket PC to PC with the built in 3g camera using wifi and webcam of PC
Videocall : Pocket PC to Pocket PC with the built in 3g camera using WLAN
does anyone know where we can find that VOIP softphone ?
This is quite the misleading topic...
this is interesting.. as far I saw skype has only audio for PPC.... i heard of MS Portrait.. that does audio and video... let me know how it goes,,,
It was a half year ago that Microsoft released the first beta of their VoIP / video phone / SIP program Microsoft Portrait. Microsoft has, in the meantime, released version 3.1.
I was very eager to check it out as 3.0 didn’t support front cameras on any Pocket PC’s, which would be essential for TCP/IP-based video phoning.
To make a long story short, unfortunately, the new version doesn’t support video phoning using front cameras either. It still only lists CAM1: (the rear camera) on all my Pocket PC models with two built-in cameras: the HTC Universal and the HTC Trinity (p3600). This is certainly bad news.
Furthermore, as far as the MS Smartphone compliance is concerned, it didn’t work on either the WM6 QVGA HTC Vox (s710) or the WM5 AKU3 HTC Oxygen (s310). On the former, it just displayed the “Initialize Portrait control failed” and, then, the “Get camera resolutions failed” info messages; on the latter, nothing has happened at all. Both phones are SIM / app unlocked and I’ve tried making Portrait work on them several times (yes, after resetting too).
All in all, it’s still useless for video phoning over traditional TCP/IP. Only get it if you only need it for voice / textual communication on Pocket PC's only (again, it seems it's completely incompatible with MS Smartphones.
Hi,
Try " fring "
It support SIP now.
I am using it for my voipstunt. working well
FRING doesnt suppport video though?

I asked a few days ago for some suggestions for screen capture software. I got some good tips and the software mentioned does indeed work. However, I am looking for something with a little better quality (Need it for a presentation).
Basically, I used Mobiola and made a WMV file of what was going on with my Kaiser. Like I said, it works, but there is a degradation of quality from the Kaiser to the PC.
Anyone know of any programs that run on the Kaiser and can create a video capture and save it on the phone. Then I could just transfer that file to my PC for presentation purposes. I would think I could get much better quality if the phone itself were doing the recording onboard instead of via a usb transfer to a PC.
Am I making any sense at all?
As always, TIA..

Rom Flash?
Hello goldvsblood,
first, did you flash a new ROM or Radio recently? Can you take regular pictures and see through the viewfinder? This sounds like it could be a bad radio flash unless I am mistaken.
Dave
i don't think it's a bad radio flash.. the same thing happened to me, and i had the standard HTC Rom installed..
don't actually know what to do about it though... i just did a hard reset...
please if anybody got a solution for this issue let me know please...it is really critical...thanks
I have the same problem.
I am using the HTC rom w/ Manila 2d and the updated camera from the Jade I think. So that might be it.
Maybe you don't have proper codecs in the ROM you use currently. I'm satisfied with CorePlayer but you shall try these WMV9 Codecs.

flash another ROM, or do a hard reset, what rom did you use now?

the solution is ...uninstall htc youtube
it will work ..but you will lose youtube...
I'm trying to make both of them work together ..but I just couldn't
I am thinking of using my 2-yr upgrade discount and getting the Samsung Continuum phone. I see that it has a front facing camera; however, is that functional in Skype Mobile? (Similar to the ability of the iPhone4 to video chat from the front of the camera?)
If not, is there another program that supports Skype protocol and the front facing camera for streaming video during a call?
This is the only thing keeping me from getting a DroidX, which does not even have a forward facing camera. If the Continuum can do front facing video in Skype calls, then the DroidX is not worth getting IMO. If it cannot, then I will go with the DroidX since it is superior in every other way (except the Display clarity)
Thanks
Hey, I'm on mobile right now so I can't share link now.. However, there are fake Android Galaxy Gear smart watches, with camera, wifi, gps and bluetooth and gps and an app to connect your phone together. Question is - has anyone actually used one? I know the screen is worse with lower quality and resolution, but i'd like to try gps and wifi with some apps.

I'm trying to find the exact link, but I surprised myself, there are several version of Galaxy Gear clones!!
Sample here:

This one is pretty crappy actually, the one I saw had 320x240 resolution and real Android 4.2 with the features I mentioned before. I'll try to find it.
