[Q] Motorola Restore Connectivity Settings App? - Motorola Droid Bionic

I saw in the market there's an app made by motorola called "Restore Connectivity Settings" for the Razr. Can this be made to work on the bionic? It's irritating that Motorola has addressed this issue for the Razr but not the Bionic. If anyone can make it work on the Bionic that would be awesome!

Push notifications with Official Twitter?

I used to have an OG Droid and got the Bionic on release date. I have searched, and searched and found nothing on this topic anywhere on the internet (which I find odd). Is there a reason the "auto refresh" feature for twitter does not show up on the bionic?
Also is there another app, or does the built-in blur twitter use push notifications?
TIA
I believe it is the last reason you stated. Go to settings>accounts>twitter. Check the menus in there. There is also a place in settings that lists social status update settings. Let me look quick and I'll update.
Go into settings>battery and data manager>data services?(bottom one)>social applications. Check to see if push is enabled.

Is that only for the built-in BLUR social messaging (I knew the setting was there, but wasn't sure if it only applied to BLUR apps)? If so I cannot see any setting in the BLUR twitter account to receive notifications for tweets, is there one?
Since this phone has a native twitter client built in, I don't think you can get push from the market app - similar to FB.
My advice? Download tweetcaster. Problem solved and better app.

That doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me because the "social networking" application is pretty terrible/featureless. Tweetcaster has push notifications?
edit: Also I was on Liberty, not stock and the option still wasn't there so maybe it is something Motorola did inside of their source. I might look around at it today and see if I can find the culprit for this.
edit2:

It seems this issue may not be tied to Motorola, but instead the official twitter app. However I have looked at the other twitter apps and do not see push notifications (or c2dm) mentioned anywhere.
Tweetcaster has push.

Interesting as it would not appear so by looking at the settings since the settings show different refresh times, and no option for push/c2dm. Is tweetdeck also this way?
edit: Tweetcaster definitely does not have push/c2dm messaging.
Bump. Does anyone have any idea? And if tweetcaster has push notifications how do you enable them?
TIA

[Q] Bionic and CarrierIQ

O.K. Wearing my tinfoil hat. Looked and couldn't find the processes that might operate this rootkit on my Bionic, but I really can't be certain what I am looking for.
The HTC versions were IQAgent and IQRD. Nothing similar that I have found, but I'll bet they are there somewhere.
Anyone found anything?

I've heard that it could be disguised as Contacts Sync and ContactsData. They have the same icon (although that doesn't mean much).
I haven't been able to determine if its the same thing or not.
Anyone able to confirm that the Bionic is CarrierIQ free?
I tried the Logging test tool, but if they renamed the app it won't work.
Either way, this thing is going to cause such a lawsuit with huge repercussion. (which they deserve)

Likewise, I ran the "CIQ Checks" test in the "Logging Test App" by xda member TrevE mentioned in this article as a reliable way of testing for the presence of CIQ: http://lifehacker.com/5863895/carri...everything-on-your-phone-and-how-to-remove-it The test completed running and nothing showed up in the "CIQ File List" so I'm assuming the Bionic is clean.
I don't think the Contacts Sync and ContactsData icons are a reliable way to test for CIQ. Found this on another site: "The icon is a default icon, not specific to Carrier IQ. It can't help you determine whether or not CIQ is present."
After all the latest news about the rootkit that is allowing apps to bypass requests and can track what you're doing on the phone, I have found that particular app on our Bionics.
First, read this article:
http://www.helloandroid.com/content/are-carriers-illegally-tapping-your-android-phone
Next, go to settings, applications, manage applications, all applications tab, and look for the Fake Blur app. I am rooted and rommed and noticed that I still have this app. Is it something that we should be worried about? Has anyone tried uninstalling it and seeing if the phone still works without it?
Well, for whatever it's worth:
http://www.theverge.com/2011/12/1/2602532/verizon-carrier-iq-denial
So that would seem to strongly support the idea that the Bionic lacks CIQ.

I'm tempted to use TB to remove this completely from my phone... and it's present in Liberty v2.0

It's present in Shifter rom also. I was going to uninstall it using TB, but it seems like it might stop something from working, because when I attempted to force stop the application and went back to my homescreens, it was like I had just turned the phone on and they were sluggish.

I froze it with titanium a few hours ago and hadn't had any issues or FC's yet. I'm running Purity.

I do have it.
This might be a dumb question but why would you want to freeze the mobile hotspot? Can't it be toggled on/off in settings?
i think he wants it out of his app drawer, or maybe he's having the same problem i'm having, weather i use opengarden, barnacle, or any of the other tethering apps, i get an icon in my notification that the "verizon" app is trying to use wifi tether
Just get some app that freezes apps. Titanium can do the job. I got my hotspot froze.

You cannot freeze it. It is buried inside some other system program, I don't remember which. You could find it and edit it out, but that is pretty advanced stuff.
He wants to freeze it because it is ALWAYS running. It will drive you insane if you use a task manager widget.
The only thing I know to work is a custom ROM. None of them have it, but you can use AOSP Wifi tether. Try Eclipse.

Google Now

Has anyone tried flashing Google Now since we got root? I know we don't have a custom ROM but there's got to be a way right. I just tried a couple and the closest I got wouldn't even let me into Google Search after. Any thoughts or tips would be great!
Go Figure
Ok so every time I get frustrated enough to post something, it always manages to work itself out. I downloaded the remove google now zip and rebooted, then went to check google search and low and behold I had google now. So just so you know, if you didn't, it works, no special roms needed. Just a little time, trial and error
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1747224
I didn't flash since I don't have CWM, just extracted zip through es explorer and followed directions for manual install. Also tried Gnow handlebars, so I really couldn't tell you what worked.
I can confirm that the manual method works
Thanks for the link, Now has to be my favorite feature from jb
Did you get voice to work? Mine won't

Couldn't get it to work after a manual install for some reason. But gnow handlebars works.

Handlebars won't ever make it past 18% on any of them. Yours did?

Mine never made it past 21%, so I did the manual install, and it worked great! V7 Full
The manual method worked just fine for me. I didn't appear to work at first but then I rebooted and a prompt came up saying "Updating Android" (or something like that) and it worked. Definitely my favorite JB feature. As far as I'm concerned I now have Android Jelly Bean Sandwich! LOL
I had trouble with that also lol It won't extract it to the sd card right

I'd suggest turning the screen timeout to never and don't touch the phone while installing through handlebars then reboot after. Worked like a charm.

i installed Google Now via the manual method and it worked after i did a reboot
the only downside is that when I used Google Nav, the TTS voice does not read out street names anymore
I have Bell Atrix HD and it was a british guy's voice that was previously doing the TTS, but after this install it was a woman's voice
When I tried go to into the "Language & Input" of the phone settings, it would force close.
Fortunately I made a backup of all files on Titanium Backup right after I rooted my phone, so I installed and restored the GoogleTextToSpeech.apk and now my Nav works and I do not have any more FC's.
Google Now also works fine, so not sure why it needed a new TTS file.
SO make sure you guys do a backup!!!

[Q] Other app than smart switch? (it doesn't work on my droid turbo)

is there anyway to transfer my texts and music from my droid turbo to my S6? Moto Migrate worked awesome from my S4 to Turbo but doesn't work the other way around. I won't have a computer available for some time so that isn't an option at this time.
EDIT:: Found the Verizon app which worked called Content Transfer. Actually worked well.
Thanks
