[Q] iGO power management on Xperia X1 - XPERIA X1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have installed iGO Primo 2.0 on my X1 and turned on power management in sys.txt with powermgm_state=1. Display dimming works OK but after some time display is turned off and GPS with it also. How can I make GPS to stay on with screen off or disable screen turning off ?

On Tom Tom is automatically stuck the off screen.
Are u sure maybe there is an option for the screen ?
--------------------------------------------------------
What about iGo ? Do u like it ?
Is it good navigator ?

For me iGO is the best GPS navigation software, especially when iGO Primo 2.0 came out. There is lots of options to configure in sys.txt [power] section, but I didn't found the right combination yet. And there is very little information about these options.

iGO 8 or iGO 2006 on HTC Touch Pro

I'v been trying to install iGO 8 or iGO 2006 on my new HTC Touch Pro.
It seems to install just fine from the SD card, but when I try to start-up, nothing happens. The "loading" symbol appears for a few seconds, then ... nothing.
Can anyone pls help?
Thank you so much.
LE: I am using ROM version: 1.90.401.1 WWE
update to newer version (8.0.0.44366) or disable HTC home from Today

its all ok, just post your question in the touch pro section.
But I think its not necesary, u already have the answer.
Moved to Raphael, aka Touch Pro, Forum.
HTC Touch Pro do not seem to have HTC Home. In the "Today" settings, there is the HTC Touch Flo enabeled. I tried to runn iGO with it desabeled, but no succes.
So, I think there must be some other way...
Install iGo8, then search for the latest update. Install the latest update, remove the iGo8 Today plugin in Setting > Today > Items, and add a link in the "Programs" tab of TF3D. That should do it (works fine on my Touch Pro)

Got it working now....
Just a quick question, does it work in landscape mode on the touch pro?
Uhm, I don't know why it isn't working for you because on my Touch Pro it works great. Just installed it, copied the appropriate files for my country (the Netherlands) into the appropriate dirs as mentioned in the readme and that's it. Uhm, no, I had to set the GPS on com4 in iGo8 to get the gps working but that was all I had to do.

Just tried it. Works great in landscape too.
Can you confirm that the maps render and scroll smoothly when navigating now unlike the jerky movement you have with the Kaiser?
I can't compare with the Kaiser, I never had one. But map scrolling seems ok to me.
Hmm I got the same problem.. How do you actually update it?
I just bought my htc pro touch so bear with me please.
i installed it. everything seemed fine, i click on it, i get a loading icon, nothing happens.
Keyboard?
Hi,
iGO8 seems to work, but I can't get the hw keyboard to function. Not one key seems to respond. Does everyone else have this problem?
Thanks,
Cheers,

i dont understand why there are reported problems with the gps software on this phone. is there anything outhere that just works , without tweaks or anything of the sort?
is the co pilot 7 better than igo8? in terms of usability by someone who doesnt understand how all this works
I have tested iGO8, TomTom 7, and Garmin XT. All work fine on the Touch Pro (but I did not test hardware keyboard input).
In my case, I found Garmin to have the best GPS performance: only 2-3 seconds lag behind my separate Garmin nuvi 760 unit, and <30 secs for first fix most of the time. iGO and TT are a little slower but still work fine -- but other people find iGO or TT to work very well.
Other thoughts: TT has the most detailed roadmaps, iGO and Garmin are average. But I find Garmin has the best POI support. iGO (and I think TT, also) supports TMC but (so far) it cannot be activated on the Raphael. Garmin does not have TMC but can download traffic from its servers via your data connection (3G, EDGE, etc). For me, Garmin is a solid middle-of-the-road software; the only major drawback is no TTS, which iGO and TT both have.
I haven't tested Co-Pilot 7, but since it's based on iGO core (iirc) I probably won't try it. But of course, you should try demo maps or at least read reviews to find out which software is good for you.

To help clarify, there are two separate issues. The first is that many GPS software comes on SD cards that are intended to be kept on the SD, or on CD to be installed to main device memory, though if you buy it you have every right to install it to your Raphael. Since the Raphael only has microSD, you may have to install the program in a certain way to get it running. You also have to be careful of the software version, since not all are compatible with WM6.1. (These issues come up all the time among people pirating the software.)
The other issue is about the GPS receiver in the Raphael. Lots of people are trying different tweaks to get the best performance (ie: no lag) out of their receiver. But it's unclear if it's a problem with a weak antenna, or if certain programs (iGO, Garmin, TomTom) run better/worse on the Raphael. The results have been somewhat mixed but we're gradually figuring everything out.
Hi, I am trying to install IGO 8 on the HTC touch Pro, Raphael. The installation seems ok but when I launch the program, nothing happens. The rainbow circle shows up but then nothing. I am wondering what I am doing wrong. Could someone please advise?
Thanks in advance.

iGo Amigo for Kaiser

Does anyone have any experience of getting iGo Amigo working with their Kaiser? TTS?
works fine...
but i had to turn off "assisted gps" function. Not tried TTS.
Thanks rothod.
TTS is what I'm looking for. Can you try it?
Also, have you previously used iGo 8? If so, do you find Amigo better, or worse?
Works very well for most aspects. Updated graphics and new interface. TTS works perfectly. Major 'bug' of backlighting controlled by Windows with no override by program. Can use on 8.3 maps.

The display a bit more cartoonish - more like Garmin's than the clean iGo8.3. TTS a bit more precise in pronounciation, and more courteous - lots more "Please turn" etc. Too chatty for my liking.
Still prefer iGo8.3
Amigo has less options
Hmmm.. thanks lads.
Going to install iGo 8 then. This is what I've been using on my trusty (old) Mio 269+ for months mow, and I love it.
Was going to use Amigo on my HTC TyTN II (when I eventually receive the device!), but I think I'll put iGo 8 on it instead.
Anyone know how to get amigo to run from today screen if i copy exe to phone it will not load. cheers

Am I allowed to ask if there is an IGO8 .cab... and if so please someone tell me where?

No, it's not allowed as it falls under warez. Plus, it doesn't even come in cab form.
@ fatosb, have you tried running Quick GPS or Quick Position?

Some cooks/chefs may have excluded this feature not sure, I would ask whomever made the rom you installed....mine has the quick gps in it...maybe they took it out or it's in another location then what your used to looking.
WC
Search in Windows folder for QuickGPS.exe. Maybe is there but u have no shortcut in programs.

Google maps not working

I just flashed with energyz new rom the may 22 release, and i can't get google maps to work with gps, it previously worked when i was using the old rom but i remember i had to configure it manually, i set both google maps and my gps program settings for COM 4, but it still can't find satelites, i have quick gps downloaded and still nothing, it just says searching for satelites for the longest time.. i dont recall setting a baud rate previously and i don't know what it does, would that be the problem?? Any suggestions??
i've been waiting for like a month and i know atleast one of u have a working google maps gps on your phone.. wow this forum is sad sometimes..
Next time try posting it in the EnergyROM thread, don't recall someone with the same issue.
Did you try other GPS programs like HTC GPSTool, Chartcross GPSTest or Bing? And do they work?
I had no problems with EnergyROMs and GPS fixes in TomTom, GoogleMaps eg.
I mostly use the Co0kie, GTX or MaxSense 23569 EnergyROMs.
correct, rom specific problems belong into the respective rom thread and not into a new one
also you should keep in mind that other members help or don't in their own time and on their own free will and not when it fits your needs, so for the future pls keep your manners
