One rooted when you try and run a program that requires root access a notification should open asking if you why to allow root access.
Click on the super user app. What happens?
nope nothing pop up to ask if i allow the access...
I have tried a two types of one click root program which is Superoneclick and another one by TGA_Gunnman..
But both act in the same way that nothing will pop up and ask whether to allow access...
What happens when you click on the super user app?
Have you tried rebooting the phone?
Have you tried replacing apk with market, search superuser in market, see if it shows installed, try to update or replace
You are on stock, correct
yeap i have tried to reboot after the rooting process...
I can open the superuser app too.
Yes im on stock.
Im thinking should i use z4root now?
Might as well. Did you check for the app in the market?
What are you looking to accomplish with root? What is your goal?
yup i checked the market too... it shows i ald installed the superuser..
Just want to root and use the rom manager to back up...
And i dunno y suddenly the root works! now im okay! Thanks for the help!
I guess we need to install again from market and reboot in order to use this...
No problem, who knows what the issue was. Enjoy, I am sure you will be flashing roms in no time

I had this issue too, but i coudnt fix it, updating the SU app wont change your phones binaries, i updated but in the end it couldn ask for root permisions and update failed, so i decided to go to options and hide the outdated binaries notification and troubles solved, i know its not the best way but at least it wont bother me anymore lol
try superSU, i tried on my friend tablet when superuser didn't want to update then it automatically solve the problem.
idk if it will works on yours but it never hurts to try...
look if superuser is listed on the list with apps that get root (in superuser-app)
if yes => delete it, close it, reopen it and try again to update
if not => reboot, DONT DO ANYTHING BESIDES THE FASTEST WAY into superuser app and then try updating
if 2 is not working, retry it about 5 times. worked for me once. (not exactly at 5 times, but i ha to repeat this and on one try it suddenly worked. strange but....well...did the job)
Thx guys, it helped. I just rooted my phone again and the problem is solved.
I have sought on way to update my SU app,
but i flash many root's app and the old version persists
any idea ?

I have rooted my phone (Samsung galaxy ace). I want to use some of my office related application which doesn't works on rooted device. How to disable the superuser accesses temporarily? I dont want to unroot my phone. Please help me in this. Sorry for my poor english
Open superuser app, go to settings and check the tickbox. If that setting is only available in the licensed version then buy the license on play store. In fact, buy it anyway! Support the dev!

I dont understand how an app *wont* work on a rooted device
if thats the case you can just deny root access when it asks for it, it should work just as well
or you could remove the su file from /system/bin and then replace it when you want superuser access back
That is pretty interesting...How an app wont "work" on rooted phones...Anyway,unroot it,the file is available on the thread, and flash root back when you need it ..

This is Impossible, I have to use that application daily, It is not possible for me to keep on rooting and unrooting my device always..
There isn't any app that won't work on a rooted phone, root just gives you access to the phone root directory...I believe its a problem with the app. Can you supply us with the app name?
Also, rather than superuser, use SuperSU from here
Its easier to use.
Also try going into superuser and denying the app root permission.

There are apps that don't work on rooted devices. They ask for su permissions, when granted or denied, the app closes.
Wich apps?

Just off the top of my head, try the "legend of master" game from the playstore, some sideloaded custom corporate apps, and the apps the OP is talking about.
If u are on rooted stock rom it must work
If u are on cm7/cm9/10
Then it might fail

Hmm... Okay then I've probably met some of those. Anyways, if they ask for SU permission then aren't they not meant for unrooted phones? If they don't run on unrooted phones and force close on rooted ones, then how do you run them?
Anyhow, please supply us with the app name. We can't help you if you don't allow us to.
HI.
I received my shiny new Xperia Z yesterday and got up this morning to root it.
The problem I have is, nothing i do seems to work!
Before I start, when I checked my Bootloader Unlock status, it said "Yes", the after going through the steps it changed to "No".
I followed the guide on here for the EasyRooting Toolkit for Xperia Z and it failed the first time, as the phone didn't do anything when i tapped "Restore Data", so I restarted the process, rebooted the phone and tried again. This time, I was able to start the Restore process and when the restore ended, I went to the white screen as was told, waited, then powered off the screen and the phone rebooted.
When I downloaded Root Checker from the Play Store, it tells me that the system is running a bit slow, but ultimately that Root Access has failed. The same happens with Titanium Backup*ROOT.
Now when I run the .bat file, it tells me it can't find adb.exe and quits out.
I've also tried Bin4ry's Root with Restore and it just comes up file not found (which I'm assuming is referring to adb.exe)
I would like to keep the Bootloader intact just now if possible.
Any suggestions?
*EDIT* I should add that I've re-downloaded the rooting files, restarted the PC and moved the whole extracted folder to the root of my C: Drive.
Try to root with flaahtool.
Maybe you will need a factory reset first.

Getting weird.....
OK. I've now discovered via Flashtool that I have root access and that Busybox and SU Binary is installed? Yet Root Checker says no and Titanium Backup*ROOT just hangs when its searching for root access.
Any ideas?

Go to the SuperUser app and remove Titanium from it, then re-run Titanium and see if it works.

Thanks to all the replies, especially the REALLY enthusiastic ones! I ended up unlocking the bootloader flashing a Cwm and rooting that way. Worked out much easier in the long run. Funny thing is, Bravia Engine is still saying it's enabled?

Did you back-up your TA partition?
It also did on mine, but I didn't really test if it worked since I never used it anyways.
Never got a chance to back up my TA partition.
Because of how my phone was set up, with the failed root to start off with, I had to unlock the Bootloader to get root.
I also had no problems with NFC either.
All I did was reset to factory and my Unlockable status went back to "Yes". I then unlocked the Bootloader, flashed CWM and a pre-rooted rip.
Bravia Engine and Gracenote are working perfectly.

Hi. I just download and install recovery software call: Dr.Fone for android.
After prepared my phone to works with this software it was restart.
Software is relay good as I could recover my sms but! All apps related to banks stops working and give me msg: You phone is rooted.
Apps : check my root - says: - phone is not rooted... so, any idea what happen?
did you root it?
did you unlock the bootloader?
how can I check if bootloader is unlocking?
OK, I open Service menu and under Configuration it says: Rooting status: Bootloader unlock allowed: No
So is not rooted, but why banking apps stop working and says: apps not working on rooted devices - before I install dr.Fone banking apps works with no problem.

Then it is not unlocked because it says you cannot do it..
I think the app you istalled is the problem, uninstall it
Unless you have been through a process to root the phone will not maigically root itself.
Maybe you should repair the software with pccompanion just to be sure and not install dr.Fone app (Of which I have never heard of before..)

Try it yourself:

Im guessing you were taken for a ride with this app. Ill try to help you out a bit. That app (dr.whatever) left files on your phone that are probably the problem. Use your file explorer to navigate to your internal storage, find the folder named Android. Inside you will see two folders named data and obb. Inside you will find all the data for your applications (each located within thier own folder). Look through these for a folder with the name or developers name (sometimes this can be tricky because there are no spaces in the file name, as well its usually initials or abbreviations.) Locate the folder and delete it, then reboot. Since your not rooted, you cant wipe your caches and data as we do so just try this out.

When I connect phone with dr.fone it was this same way....
That means my Phone is rooted?
Root Checker Pro:
Result:
Root Access is not properly configured or was not granted.
Detailed:
Super User Application Status:
Superuser application - version 3.1.3 -is installed
SuperSU application - is NOT installed.
System File Properties for Root Access:
Standard Location
Check Command: Is -l/system/bin/su:
Result: /system/bin/su: No such file or directory
Analysis: File /system/bin/su does not exist.
Can anybody explain me what this mean and is my phone rooted or not?
why don't you just try and root again with either doomlords easy root or bin4rys root kit.
That way you will definitely be rooted

To be not rooted. Cos I cant use some apps, witch I use on regular basis.
If I take factory reset - it will be after unrooted?
I don't think that you are rooted at all, that Dr Fone app sounds fishy and bogus to me (as others have stated as well).
Best bet is imho to repair with PC Companion as greg has also mentioned. You could also try removing any superuser app that apparently is somewhere on you device, it might be that your banking app checks for this.
Edit:
That Dr Fone app is not even in my Play Store - I would probably opt for a factory reset, rather than repair. Sounds like malware to me. If you want to backup something from your device, stay with the regular, known and trusted apps!

Which apps can not be used on a rooted phone? I never came across anything I can't use on my rooted phone, as opposed to an unrooted one. Just the opposite is true. There are many apps and functions that do work on a rooted phone, which I would be missing a lot if I was not rooted.
Dr.Fone seems to have manipulated with your system. My suggestion is first using the Doomlord easy rooting kit. It works like a charm, and also allows unrooting later in case you do not need to be rooted. Then uninstall that Dr. Fone thing (and everything else you don't need).
Like some of the others I do have suspicions regarding Dr. Fone software. There are so many useful tools and apps from reputable sources you can use on a rooted phone, it is almost overwhelming. What made you grab such a dubious app?
Now it is already on the second page for a relatively simple issue which basically comes down to one point: Get rid of that Dr.Fone. Action required.
No offence intended.
Flash a stock ftf you definitely not be rooted anymore.
There are several apps that don't work on rooted phones, sky go being one of them.
It is generally done by apps that have copy right laws to enforce or subscription issues.
