bell mobility tab no 3g on tmobile
No one is having this issue ?

No 3g, just Edge signal
I too have a similar problem with no 3g signal. I'm in Bolivia and I have 3g coverage with my provider. I had upgraded to Gingerbread in hopes this would solve the problem. No 3g. I then installed the different modems and I still had the same (no 3g) problem. After this didn't work I went back to Froyo as a last ditch attempt since I had rooted Froyo in the beginning and thought maybe something got messed up. I've never seen a 3g signal here and don't know about the U.S since I've only use it here. Is it possible that the Galaxy Tab 7 3g just does not work in Bolivia? By the way, I've checked all settings and done everything to make sure things are correct. Any ideas? Thanks.

for @polapine, this is answered in another thread.
Basically the conclusion is that T-mobile uses different frequency for 3G/HSDPA, that a normal unbranded tab modem hardware is simply incapable of using. (1700 Mhz)
On the other hand, a T-Mobile branded tab can also operate at the "usual" 3G band in other networks in Europe/Asia/Australia (2100 MHz)

[Q] Anybody with working 3G in Australia?

Hi, I'm a new Captivate owner - I'd like to ask whether anyone has 3G working on a Captivate in Australia and if so, what settings you are using to do so.
I can't for the life of me get 3G working at all. I'm with iinet who is an Optus network reseller so the network settings should be the same.
I've tried:
- Dialling *#2263# and *#*#4636#*#* to select the Australian bands (900 and 2100, sometimes 1800)
- Turning on data roaming
- Manually checking/adjusting APNs
- Pushing non-"850 by default" modems (JPP and JPY)
- Pushing the Optus (OPS) CSC
But nothing has gotten 3G to work on the stock eclair ROM (or Perception 10.1 in the case of froyo modems). Anyone able to shed some light on this problem?
Thanks in advance.
If not, then does anyone know of anything else I can try before I sell this phone? I'd really like to keep this phone if I could...
telstra......
hi , although i'm still waiting for my first captivate to arrive in the mail, i have a possible answer to that because i found the captivate in the reverse order, looking for a phone that would get 3g in oz and the us.... the captivate has access to umts 850/1900/2100mhz. (hardware?) so at&t uses umts 850/1900 telstra 850/2100.
so if you want full functionality telstra it is(unconfirmed)....... where in oz?
p.s. 3 uses telstra towers but you'd be roaming for data ...
i haven't tried as yet so let me know of your progress... also the armani modem would be the closest but again, it could be the hardware..

[Q] i9000T on Darky ROM 10.2.2 problem with 850 band

Hi!
I have been searching hi and low on how to recover my 850 band.
I bought in June of this year a SGS I9000T on my country, approved by the SUTEL which is a government bureaucratic branch that has the purpose of making sure the cellphones brought to the country can be used and blah blah. I currently live at Costa Rica. It was working perfectly fine up until the point in which I changed it CWM 7.0 and lost my 850 band. It was under 3G coverage.
During the installation my phone got bricked and I flashed several other firmwares where I had the i9000B and i9000M and i9000t, but in none of the aforementioned I got 3G coverage anymore (including i9000t).
I finally went to CWM and got tired of it. Eventually, I got back onto searching on this subject and found how to enter the service mode, got into *#*#4636#*#* to find I was on EDGE, then on *#2263# and activated my 850 band, with no result. It was active, but it wasn't ever actually used.
I changed my SIM Card three times making sure it had 3G coverage, I also changed carriers to find the same.
A friend of mine bought a i9000T and had perfect HSDPA coverage, paying the same as me, with the same data plan, under the same company.
I thought it was the ROM so I moved back to stock FW and had the same results. On each one of them I activated the 850 band and got the same result -- no 3G coverage.
Then I tried Amestris 3.3 and the same.
Then I went to Darky ROM 10.2.2 with the same result. I learned about flashing different modems, and have done so for the following:
TUBJV6
JVO
JPO
JPD
I am currently using TUBJV6, which is the same of my friend's.
My screen shows up the following under *#0011# command:
GSM: HOME(CS+PS)
Band: GSM1800, BSIC: 55
Reg PLMN MCC (712)-MNC(1), IsPCS
TchFrq: ,BcchFrq: 556
RSSI: -73, RxLev: 37
NOM: 2, TxLev: 255
TS: 0, VocType: 255
Cell_id: 10813, LAC: 5112
On *#2263# I have tried to leave it only to WCDMA 850 band but got no service message or emergency calls only.
All the Combi bands are active, including 850, of course.
I don't have a backup for the first ROM I used to have, but it was JPD and I tried it with no result.
Any suggestion? I am literally going mad over this problem.
Thanks in advance.
this probably doesn't help much, but I flashed darky's 10.2.2 today on a i9000t (venezuela, 850mz) coming from stock froyo 2.2.1 and I can still get 3G and H (which should be enhanced 3G, or 3.5G)
Also, I did not flash any modem other than the one that comes with darky's.
Baseband: JVQ
Also, make sure under your network settings you have your APN set correctly for your carrier! Although, if you can get EDGE, most likely you have them set correctly and your problem is not related to APN. But it's worth a shot. I know that by flashing other roms, the APN info is lost, most of the time.
Good luck.
bro,i facing the same problem with you!!!!
no 3G/HSDPA connection at all!!!! only connect with GPRS and EDGE
i just subscribe my data plan before flashing darky rom !!!!

What modem should I use for my galaxy tab 7?

I have a galaxy tab 7 from T-mobile. I have updated my firmware to newest overcome rom but I don't know what modem I should use for it. I live here in the Philippines which is part of Asia. I want to use a modem with call and 3g function. Additionally, when changing modem, will it wipe out my system? Thanks in advance.
I have the T-Mobile SGH-T849 too.
Use JPZ modem in Asia/Australia/Europe should be fine.
No, flashing modem will not wipe your system.
After flashing go to setting About Phone and check your baseband
it should have changed to something-something-JPZ
yup, I'm using JPZ on my tab, but I don't have 3g.. i only have edge.. can I still revert back to having 3g instead of call?
which network in the Philippines? maybe we can find out what frequency your network use.
It is weird. I thought asia uses GSM 900/1800MHz and HSPA at 2100MHz, which is what the JPZ does.
The original modem (JJB) can be found here.
http://devphone.org/files/gtab7/modems/
But T-Mobile modem is meant for T-Mobile user to have 3G, even them won't get voice call with it.
Are you sure your area has good 3G reception?
I'm not familiar with frequencies and such, but i'm using Smart here in the Philippines. Can you help me determine what network I should use?
http://obsessivecoder.com/2010/09/19/philippines-gsm-frequency-band/
Smart Communications 900 MHz/1800 MHz W-CDMA (UMTS) 2100 MHz
Exactly the same as other GSM I know in Singapore/Indonesia/Australia
Can you check your setting just to make sure you are not restricting your wireless to 2G only?
EDIT: I am not sure if you edited your post. But I thought I read you get E only.
Now I can't see any of that in your post.
Do you get mobile network working at all?
If not, then the issue is with your APN.
You need the right APN for Smart
i've set it on wcdma but it does not pickup any signal. i still only have edge.
Menu -> Settings -> Wireless controls -> Mobile networks -> Uncheck .. only 2G
I got more info on APN:
APN Settings for Smart Bro
Postpaid APN: smartbro
Prepaid APN: smartbro
APN Settings for Smart Buddy, Smart Gold
APN: internet
i'm still on EDGE.
Last try:
http://androidforums.com/samsung-ga...rk-frequency-your-samsung-i9000-galaxy-s.html
forget about the references to 850MHz,
access the menu and make sure you have stuff selected for 900MHz 1800MHz and 2100MHz
normally we have 3G on 900 and 1800, and 3.5G on 2100MHz
still not working
you can confirm that the same SIM card in other phone, at your present location, gets 3G?
yup, on my galaxy y, 3g is ok
and APN in that phone is the same?
EDIT: try other modems. KM2 for example
went back to t-mobile modem for the mean time. will try out km2 later. from the modem list, most of them are for gingerbread 2.3.3, but mine is 2.3.6. will there be any conflict with that?
nope.
even froyo modem works.
we use JPZ through to ICS as well.
Does T-mobile modem gives you 3G?
yup, it gives me full hsdpa connection speed.
hi mahan21,
Not sure if you are still looking for the modem.
try T959UVJL5 modem from the Galaxy S T-mobile.
I was baffled because I am really sure I get 3G/H on JPZ but I check again I can't.
I even restock to GB stock safe, no luck.
So after searching, I found the JL5 modem
and it works!
3G/H and voice call on T-mobile tab in Asia (Well, Optus Australia but it is the same GSM/UMTS combination)
Get the modem here:

i9000 cannot make or receive calls. modem problem?

Hi everyone, noob here so dun wanna start a new thread with my question since it is related to this matter and I was wondering if anyone can help me because I really can't figure it out anymore.
I have an International GT-i9000 purchased with Hong Kong and system specs I have running are
Gingerbread.ZSJW4 (recently flashed the official ROM from Hong Kong cuz I am anal and want to keep the same languages)
Kernal: 2.6.35.7-I9000ZSJW4-CL1147074
[email protected] #2
Bandbase version: i9000ugkg3
And I use AT&T in New York (I know, worse plan to use in dead zone capital of the US)
I had flashed the ugkg3 modem on it because the JW1 modem that was with the official ROM wasn't working out for me and I had heard this modem was the best for my area. Before it would either not pick up a signal when coming up from underground or the signal just go dead, which did not happen when my phone was on Froyo (on Froyo I did not have 850mhz enabled and it worked alright outside and sometimes in the house)
At first, the KG3 modem worked wonderfully, I was able to receive data in my house and was on 3 bars (compared to none to one before). However, I now notice that while I do have full bars, I cannot receive or send messages or phone calls (even though my brother's Note is able to do all that and it was next to my phone).
I also happens when I am outside as well.
The other day I was standing in front of the AT&T store near where I am and I still don't pick up a signal.
Or it would lose the signal and never pick it up again.
Unless if I really can't use 850mhz on my phone, which does not make sense because AT&T uses 850mhz.
I am real hesistant to try another modem, and I cannot figure out if it is a hardware issue or network issue, or is it just the wrong modem?
Can someone please share any insight?

my other question is, phone is not ICS, and I found the nexus S one...will it still work?
and can I just extract out modem.bin and flash via ODIN ?(somehow my phone won't do CMW recovery...)

[Q] ATT GTab on Tmobile Network - 3G Possible? (CM10, JPZ Modem & 1900 re-farm area)

[Q] ATT GTab on Tmobile Network - 3G Possible? (CM10, JPZ Modem & 1900 re-farm area)
So I have the ATT version of the Galaxy Tab. I have CM10 on it and it's running great. When I initially purchased it, I planned on just using it as a Wifi tablet, no Cell Data primarily since I had CDMA service (Sprint). Recently I switched over to Tmobile and would like to use data from my Tmobile plan.
I SIM unlocked my Tab following Roto's guide
I can make phone calls and send text messages
I get Edge service now
However, I could care less for Voice/Text service, all I want to do is use 3G/HSPA.
I also realize that Tmo's 3G band is different than ATT's, however the 1900 Mhz refarming is already happening in my area (Central Florida). I cannot however tell if my specific local area has coverage (is there an app I can run on my Note2 or GS3 to tell what bands it has access to?).
I am wondering if I can just flash a Tmobile modem and get data working on 3G/HSPA. I don't really think it's that simple, but any feedback would be great!
FWIW, I was on the JPZ modem before I started.
Well, I went ahead and flashed the Tmobile modem, got 0 service, then tried the ATT modem, got 0 service, then flashed back to the JPZ Modem... also didn't work.
Going to try to ODIN...
Well, apparently when I was jacking around with different modems something went haywire and it deleted my stuff from /efs, and the modems were never actually put into /radio. I restored my /efs backup (thank goodness for roto's suggestion to keep 11.5 years ), carrier unlocked again, then pushed the T-mobile modem to the radio folder. Thankfully I found the "Secret Codes" thread and when I went to check my IMEI it was blank, which then clued me to start looking in the /efs folder and then /radio.
Rebooted and I'm back to Edge service... and a noticeably lower number of reception bars. With the JPZ modem I saw 4/4 bars with Edge service while the Tmo modem changes between 0 & 1 bars.
I performed the *#*#2263#*#* (RF Band Selection) secret code and made sure only 850 Mhz GSM and 1900 WCDMA were enabled (since from what I understand that's the frequencies ATT had put into the Tab) and disabled the 1700 & 2100 WCDMA bands since the hardware isn't there.
/Thinking my area might not have 1900 refarming yet, I'm going to take it to work with me tomorrow and see if I see anything different.
Well, clearly switching modems is a bad idea. I tried the Tmo modem, both with specific bands selected and "all." Saw only 1 bar total, and only Edge service- not better than the JPZ modem. I switched to the ATT modem, selecting "all" bands, nothing at all. I finally switched back to the JPZ modem and bam, 4/4 bars- but still only Edge service.
Either the 1900 re-farm hasn't happened in the areas I'm testing, or I can't make this work...

OK, I found the following dialer code:
*#*#197328640#*#*
Going to the Debug Screen -> Basic Info it shows the BAND which is GSM1900!
Now, how in the heck can I get this thing to connect to 3G???
Unless T-Mobile switches their umts/hspa to 850Mhz ( like your at&t) or 2100Mhz, I dont think you can get 3G using non T-Mobile tab.
The 1900 should be only the gsm part.

Thanks for the response. I guess I was assuming my ATT Tab would have the same restrictions an ATT iPhone would (just Edge service until the 1900 Mhz refarm happened on Tmo from ATT spectrum). Also, I was working under the assumption that an ATT Tab would have the same requirements as a Tmo Tab (needing some sort of software switch to go from 2G <-> 3G), or possibly a different modem.
So, after reading some more in the Tmo forums about my Note 2 and realizing the Tmo network has 3G/HSPA on WCDMA. I messed around last night and switched my GTab to WCDMA 1900 (only) and low and behold my data popped up alternating between 3 and H. Tried a speed test and got over 5.8MB download/1.6MB download!
Frigging awesome!

Maybe you can detail your steps here for the benefit of others.
