Safestrap - Motorola Droid 3

I tired to install safestrap on my droid 3 but when i press menu nothing happends the screen is blank i'm i missing files or something because i only downloaded the apk

Are you rooted? Did you run the safestraap app and install it? After you install is that will you're stuck now? (Or did you already get to the safestrap screen once and switched to safesystem then reboot and then that's where you are?) If you answered yes to all of those but the one in perentesies then sbf reroot and retry

I rooted and install safestrap then installed recovery when i reboot and press menu the screen is blank

Did you have a recovery before this? If so did you uninstall the old one? Even if you did I recommend sbf-ing your phone either way and trying it again

[Q] Recovery boot problem

First off, I'm very sorry as I know by now you are mostly sick of noobs but I tried to figure out what I'm doing wrong on my own and am just stuck.
So here it goes:
I rooted my DROID 2.2.1 with superone click. Did everything I've read to do and tried to install bugless beast ROM. Tried to boot into recovery but I got the triangle exclamation point screen on reboot. Tried to install the ROM via ROM manager and the same thing happened. I was then able to get to clockwork recovery through ROM manager somehow and installed the ROM. At this point, I got the startup screen for bugless beast and it just looped. I restored back to Froyo and cannot get back to recovery boot because that $#%% screen with the triangle exclamation is killing me.
What should I do now? Or am I just too noob at this and should go back to the Matrix lifestyle of "ignorance is bliss" by unrooting?
Thanks again.
Matt
prepare to kick yourself in the head ^^
- the "triangle exclamation" pictures is EXACTLY the point where you can enter Recovery.
here´s how: press "volumeUP" and the "camera" button at the same time.
then navigate through the recovery (if you have a custom recovery installed, you´ll need to choose "apply update.zip" to load the custom/open recovery on the first screen) using your D-Pad.
Thank you for the button combo to get where I need to go. Now does anyone know why when I load a ROM, the start up screen just loops forever? I have tried loading cyanogen6 and bugless beast now both with the same issue.
nevermind...I'm stupid. Sorry. Needed to wipe data. But how do I get all my data back? If I restore data through nandroid then I just get boot loops again.
I haven't used rom manager before.
So i would recommend you to use open recovery to do flashing or rooting.
Have u flash a vulnerable recovery sbf ??
If yes, you can go to recovery mode and select "apply update".
Then the open recovery is applied.
By using OR, you can root phone and apply any updates you want.

Half bricked my Htc Hero.

Has anyone not been able to boot into recovery mode on their phone. When I go into ROM manager and try to change ROMS or something it just turns off?
are you with S-on or S-off?
Probly S-off. I'm rooted with Fresh ROM 2.4.0 by Flipz.
First of all, you aren't bricked just because you can't get to recovery and/or change ROMs. If your phone shows signs of life, which from the sounds of it you can boot it up, you're not bricked.
Second, If you answer "probably" to the question "are you S-OFF?" you aren't. You would know if you were because you actually have to DO it. It doesn't happen by rooting or flashing a ROM. It's a whole separate thing.
Can you get into recovery by holding down "home" and "power" on boot? I press home right before I press power. If that doesn't get you into recovery, use ROM manager to reflash the recovery then try again.
Ok thanks for the tips. I'm going to instal the SDK and see what I can do then. I guess it's not totaly bricked just has some errors with the ROM or something because when I go into ROM manager and try to flash recovery mode it just turns off and then doesn't come back on. I can't go into Hboot or recovery mode from just turning it on because my on button is broke and, I don't want to take it back to the Sprint store to get it fixed until I get the custom ROM off of it so they can work on it.

Why not just forget using Rom Manager and turn off phone and restart holding volume key down? Rom Manager isn't the only way to get into recovery. Once you are at h-boot screen, push home button and you are in recovery - you can flash a new zip or restore a nandroid back up (I hope you backed up something) .

I backed up nothing. My on button is broken so I cant go into recovery that way...
I need to take it to the Sprint store but I don't want to have it rooted.
Once you get the sdk running, you could try "adb reboot recovery" and see if you have one, if not, you can flash a recovery with "adb shell flash_image recovery /sdcard/nameofyourrecovery.img" assuming you have a recovery image on the base of your sd, and where it says nameofyourrecovery you put in, well, the name of your recovery.
On a side note, you don't really want recovery from the sounds of it, you want the htc drivers installed on your comp, and the latest RUU.exe, which will unroot your phone and return it to stock.
Hey I figured it out I went to SDK and enterned some commands to flash a new ROM but it was saying that I didn't have enough space on my phone, so I found out that some how I had deleted the recovery image binary. SO I downloaded that and installed it and everything was all good.
Thanks people for all the info.

[Q] Safestrap 3.05 Problem - Stuck in Safe

A couple days ago I decided to load the new Safestrap Hashcode linked to. Everything went very well, and I have been running Maverick 4.5 in slot 2 as my daily driver. I was able to get back into Safestrap using the menu button. I also loaded Gummybear ICS into Slot 3, but went back to Maverick.
Yesterday I was going to go back into Safestrap and switch to the Gummybear/slot 3 rom to check it out.
I can't get back into Safestrap at all. I am stuck in the Maverick 4.5 rom.
One thing I did notice and do not understand: When I use Titanium Backup or the Reboot Widget to "Reboot into Recovery", I get a Yellow Triangle with an Exclamation Mark and the Android guy.

That's the stock Droid 3 recovery. Using a reboot recovery will lead to that, and will not allow Safestrap's bootloader to intercept the boot and activate Safestrap recovery.
I haven't tried running Safestrap 3.05 myself, since it's still not official, but I do know that you cannot reboot recovery as you describe to to get into Safestrap for any version of Safestrap.

thats the stock recovery
now. do you still get the boot menu splash page where it asks you to input the menu key or continue?
if so hit the menu many times or hit on the screen the hit menu for recovery image section, as it shoulod also work.
maybe my next question is silly or already tried, but have you tried to try it with the charger disconnected?
some times when my droid 3 is connected, the touch screen gets un responsive o registers more than input
hope this helps
I now have the same problem. I see the splash screen and it vibrates and reacts when I press the menu button, however it does not boot into safestrap v3.05.
From the JB topic it seems more people have this problem!

For those with trouble entering recovery with SS 3.05
The EASIEST and most DEPENDABLE way I've found to boot into the new SS 3.05 is;
Shutdown the phone
Slide open keyboard
Hold M and press the power button to boot the phone (still holding M, release when it boots the next step)
Immediately a menu pops up
Press Volume DOWN to highlight "BP Tools" (tap several times, be quick, if you wait too long, it'll automatically select what is highlighted)
Press Volume UP to select it.
Phone will reboot showing the M logo, then proceed into SS Recovery.

When you run the OTA update to 906, it will remove the Safestrap bootstrap and will unroot as well. However, you can reroot with Motofail, then run the Safestrap app again to install recovery, and you slots *should* still be there. Perhaps making a backup of each slot before running the OTA would be smart.

i dont like the word "should"
ok i try to save the files in safetrap and try an OTA. yesterday the ota didn't run but i think i have to wait longer thar it starts the installation than the 10 minutes...
The slots are all stored on the internal storage (the mount point /sdcard) on the phone, so as long as you don't format internal storage, they should stay there.
I should note that I have never tried installing the OTA with safestrap 3.05 installed - I did it with 1.08. Actually, you may want to activate the stock slot, go into the safestrap app and uninstall recovery, and then try running the OTA. It's possible that the OTA will balk with a custom recovery installed - I don't remember, and, like I said, I never tried with Safestrap 3.05 installed.
You can also download the OTA, copy it to an external SD card, and manually run the update from stock recovery. See this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1643521
[edit] Sorry - that link is for an update from 890 to 906. I forgot that you were not on 890. Sorry about that...
I had almost the same problem with my phone, the diference is that mine got stuck on non safe system (Stock ROM). Initializing the phone with th Android Recovery (Turning on with the key "m" pressed down) and choosing BP Tools doesn't worked.

[Q] Soft/Hard Bricked, Lost Root, Lost Recovery, USB Not Recognized

Hi all, this is a last ditched effort at maybe saving my phone. I did an update on my SU and for some unknown reason it rebooted my phone. It then loaded up my rom until the kernel settings loaded then rebooted once again. I then tried to go into recovery to flash a backup and it booted me straight into my unlocked fastboot. I then tried to reboot once again in hopes I could fast navigate into twrp through rom manager, once in I was prompted that I no longer had root. I then decided to start over from scratch and load a recovery in fastboot. Once I had everything good to go I plugged everything in and instead of recognizing my phone as a drive, HTC manager popped up instead. I then updated my drivers to see if maybe that would fix the problem with no luck. I am at a loss at this point. I would greatly appreciate any help you guys can offer.

I was doing a SU update. It restarted into a loop that boots about 1 min after the splash screen then resets. I've tried to redownload root through SU app as I can no longer connect through usb but it reboots to soon. I used Rom Manager to try and get into recovery as a second alternative.

I no longer have a recovery to be able to flash anything. When I try to load into recovery it just boots right back into fastboot. I was just using rom manager to boot into recovery after I couldn't get into recovery through fastboot, not to flash anything. I was updating Super Su through the actual app itself. it seemed to be downloading something when it rebooted itself and I lost root, recovery and the ability to connect to my computer.

Ok. I think you need to reflash recovery again.
Boot into bootloader and fastboot usb
then download TWRP recovery from here http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7 and pick 2.6.3.3-m7.img
put it into your fastboot folder and flash it "fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.3-m7.img and hit enter
now try to reboot into recovery. When there Wipe Dalvik and Cache and reboot. If recovery ask you to root your device then accept it and reboot.
Remember to connect phone to right USB port not 3.0. Use 2.0 port and try annother cable also.

I think @jpaulpra was telling him to reflash stock recovery
then boot to it and do clear cache.. then reflash twrp
When I got into bootloader, I lost the Twrp recovery. So when I selected recovery I got the screen with a "triangle and exclamation mark". If you leave it will reboot the system after couple of minutes. But if the audio up key is pressed, it will show a system recovery screen, where cache can be wiped

Basically all I'm trying to do now it's find a way to get my computer to recognize my phone as a drive. When I go into viper settings and go to advance menu (with the short time I have before boot loop) there is an option to mount drive. When I select the option to do so it hands on splash screen and I have to hold power button to recycle back on. Once back in it's no longer selected. I've never seen a boot loop go pay the flash screen. Is this normal?

Bricked my myphone uno using Android One Toolkit

After having issues with the low 4GB memory of the myphone uno, i decided to try rooting the phone using some online instructions using Android One Toolkit. I ended up bricking it. Now when i turn on the phone, its stuck with the 4 animated circles.
I am a noob when it comes to android phones, but i do know how to install windows xp, vista, 7. I have used online instructions to clone my pc HD using clonezilla. I believe that if someone were kind enough to give step by step instructions on what files to download(like the original "OS" / "image") and where to get them. And how to use the software, i can get my myphone uno back to working order. So please anyone out there, can you help?

i followed(or tried to) the instructions from the site of androidmtk with topic
"how to root android one devices easily"
sorry but system will not let me paste the actual link.
Process involved the use of android one toolkit.
and now my phone no longer boots. Stuck with those 4 animated circles. I have to remove the battery to get out of that screen. But no matter what i did, isn't there a way to just install android? Like installing windows on a blank hard drive? Start from scratch? Loss of data is not a factor

im sorry but i dont know what "recovery" is. The phone is also no longer turning on so i cant get that info. But im ok with trying kitkat and if the flashing of the ROM works, at least ill have a working phone. And go from there and experiment some more to get the most out of the device.

You should get back to stock kitkat (if you follow the instructions as explained). Once you get back your phone to working. Install ota updates you receive that will get you to stock 6.01

First download a custom kernel zip (recommend thunderzap 5.1)
Then SuperSU 2.54 zip
Move this to files to your phones sd card
And again go to the menu which I told you during recovery (power and volume+ buttons at same time holding) then navigate to fastboot and enter ....you will se fastboot mode in the last line of the menu .
Now connect your phone to pc and open toolkit and press root.
You will see philz recovery loaded on your phone (philz recovery written on the top).
Then tap on wipe option and then factory reset and confirm it.
After factory resetting tap on install zip and select thunderzap zip
After successful installation of thunderzap select SuperSU zip and after installation of super su ...reboot now .......it will take 10 -15 mins......

Just hit thanks!!
I went to Android mtk website ...then I knew where was the problem.
Note : SuperSU zip is used to root a phone via custom recovery (twrp, philzz) ...but in marshmallow you can't root your phone just by installing SuperSU zip ....you need to install a custom *kernel* first ....remember next time??

i take it that this step Then tap on wipe option and then factory reset and confirm it. fixed the bricking of the phone
and these steps After factory resetting tap on install zip and select thunderzap zip
After successful installation of thunderzap select SuperSU zip and after installation of super su ...reboot now .......it will take 10 -15 mins......
rooted the phone right?
One other thing is, whenever theres a system update, during the rebooting it does an error and i have to remove battery to restart the phone. Does rooting the phone cause updates not to work?

You took a bit ....if you have rebooted your phone after just factory reset .....you may have got bootloop again.....(stuck on boot animation).
About your second problem ....
When the error happens in between these steps of installation .......you tap on reboot and install and your phone goes to recovery and after successful installation your reboots .
What's the error ??
Yeah rooting your phone changes system which causes problem while installation of the original update...??

i get the prompt about an update ready for install, i click on it, it does the prompt to reboot so i choose to reboot. During the rebooting it tries to install updates, then the robot image comes up with the word "error". Stuck there until battery is removed. Afterwards the phone will turn back on.

HELP
My cousins Myphone Uno is not turning on when pressing the power button, but if I put in a charge the screen turns on after a few minutes showing the battery but I don't know if it is charging. after a minute the display will go out and the screen flashes a once or twice then off and screen turns on and display the battery it will be on a loop, I can still get to boot option when screen flashes starts,
it shows:
[Recovery Mode]
[Fastboot Mode]
[Normal Boot]
[Normal Boot +ftrace]
[Normal slub debug off]
but when I select any options or not to ,the phone will turn off. Can you help me find a way to make this phone work again? thank you in advance!
PS: If I connect it in my PC it wasn't detected and the the loop will go on and on.
Usb debugging mode is also turned off
