Acudroid Installation - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I want to install Acudroid v3.1.1 on my P1000, but have some questions.
1. I have already installed Overcome 4.1.0. What steps do i have to do to install Acudroid?
2. What is the probability in percent that the device bricks?

Hi,
If you are new to flashing or you are still not sure how to flash, go to this url
http://www.teamovercome.net/p1000/?page_id=17 it's the home of overcome rom and this guide helps you to flash the stock rom, after you have flashed the stock rom you can flash acudroid.
Cheers

Restock will be safest,
But I just did the same change last night.
I use Titanium Backup to backup my system and data.
Then I boot to recovery and wipe everything.
I flashed Acudroid 3.1.1 on it and the removed apps zip.
Then reboot.
Curious thing is the boot goes to overcome 4.1 again.
I had to wipe again and reflash acudroid again.
This time without the missing apps.
I booted up fine.
Then I rebooted to recovery and flash the apps, then boot the rom and restore from TB.
All good.
Zero chance of brick, in my opinion, when flashing from CWM recovery.

[Q] Can't restore my nandroid backup

Hello, I have been using darky 9.5 rom for a while without problems but today CM7 launched the long waited nightly and I decided to try it. I made a backup from the dark core recovery and then flashed the CM7 rom perfectly. I didnt like it at all so I wiped everything in order to restore the darky backup...
And then the problems came up. The restore said successful but the phone stuck at first GT-I9000 logo. I reverted the phone to stock and installed clockworkmod but still cant boot into the rom. However, I can restore my first stock backup so I think its a boot.img problem or something like that.
Can I delete boot.img from the folder and try to restore with a darky rom installed? It should be the same boot.img
Its not a big deal but I hate to reinstall all my apps from the market and configure them!
Thanks!
Install the "stock rom" with kernel speedmod and bootloader that are in Sourceforge in CM7 (GT-I9000 FROYO full PDA) , after wipe all .
OK, restore your backup

So the order is:
1. Back to stock rom
2. Root the rom
3. Install speedmod
4. Install bootloader
5. Wipe
6. Restore
Am I right? Thanks!
The speedmod is including in the rom (is full rom stock with mod kernel)

Yes I did. Probably the backup is corrupted. I spent all this morning installing again the darky rom and configuring all my apps. Thank you anyway
I had the same problem, im not professional but I think its becouse Cm7 is 2.3.4 and Darky is 2.3.3...
I firstly flashed Froyo w/ bootloaders and then I installed Darky v10.
After that I want to CMW >advanced restore and restored my /data so I got all my programs back

Problem to install ICSSGS RC 4.1

I try to install but don't work... after that i flash it, the phone lock to logo screen "google" and i can't go to CWM i must use odin to reflash. If install rc3.1 it's all ok.
Where is the problem?
Thanks.
Did you try looking at the help page on the thread in the development section? It's right before the post is finished, there will be a link that will lead you there.
Hope that helps, if not I can try to just copy and paste the instructions hahaha

I try to do a full wipe... i try to install a original rom... but when i flash rc4.1 the phone stuck to logo.
Ensure you have backed up your EFS directory; if you don't know how ask.
To be honest, there appears to be some inconsistency in the reliability of the 4.1 RC release (across handsets); I have had persistent WIFI issues and then when the wifi fix was released I found the phone to just be a little laggy.
My advice if RC 3.1 works well for you is to keep it on there for now and wait for the next release they make.
However, if you still wish to flash it, there is no 100% working way - just keep factory reset, dalvik wipe, cache wipe, reset until it starts working! That's what I did as the original instructions did not work for me.

Hello, have you tried to download the rom again? Maybe it's a bad download..
That's odd, for me i got stats 7 but was because i was flashing the I9000B version and my phone was with the CWM for I9000. Try using odin and flash a sotck rom, after that install the CWM and then the RC4.1.
If anyone want to know the procedure that i do to install the RC4.1 is this:
Starting for CM7 --> flash the ARO 2.3.3 rom to re-write the bootloader (check this option in odin) --> flash the ZTO 2.2 rom to re-partition in original size partitions --> flash the 2.2.1 ARO because it's a nice rom and don't have all the trash that is present in ZTO version --> through kies flahs the ARO 2.3.3 original.
After that the procedure to install the RC4.1 is the standard: flash CWM then install the ROM.
I had problems going from 3.1 to 4.1. Same issue as OP.
Process I followed:
-Flashed CWM through heimdall
-Flashed devil kernel
-Flashed CM7 (had to do this twice in a row)
-Flashed ICSSGS 3.1
-Flashed 4.1 but before I rebooted my phone, I flashed Devil one last time.
Since then, phone has been rocking along just fine!

Yes... three times.
I'm having the same problem here.
I tried the first point on the Common Issues page but I'm still not able to go into CWM!
I flashed the Speemod Kernel using heimdll but I can't go back to CM7. I'm getting a Stat 7 error.
Also tried the Devils kernel (Devil_1.0_CFS) with no help ....
Any ideas?
Just wondering...

why on earth did you flash the CM7 as a part of the process? I always have just downloaded an appropriate kernel (devil, stockplus etc..) + ICS ROM (latest was RC4.1), once I'd rooted my stock 2.3.6 ROM with CF-Root (takes only 5 minutes). ICSSGS' ROMs can be applied straight on top of any previous ROM, the only requirement is that you have root privileges + CWM installed. Flashing CM7 is often frustrating, at least for me. I personally see no point in flashing it before the ICS ROM. If you know better, pleasy enlighten me

[Q] Question about Flashing ICS

I want to Flash Team ICSSGS [Android 4.0.3] (Link to ROM Thread) but I am not for sure what Bootloaders or Kernel I need to use.
I currently have:
Firmware Version: 2.2
Baseband Version: I897UCKB1
Kernel Version: 2.6.32.9
Build Number: FROYO.UCKB1
In general, the Gingerbread bootloaders are preferred with any of the ICS ROMs, because they are more ubiquitous and can be used with virtually any version 2.1 thru 4.0. Kernel-wise, the ICS ROMs come with a kernel, and your only other option is Glitch v14 beta right now...but mostly, you shouldn't need to worry about flashing anything beyond what's in the ROM itself right now.

So that ROM I listed in my OP comes with its own Kernel?
And is there a particular Bootloader I should use?
If there is, may you please link me to it?
Hey im currently running the ROM you are asking about. To answer your questions you have to be on the gingerbread bootloaders. You can flash those using odin, or since there is an official update out, use Kies mini to update your phone to gingerbread and that will flash the bootloaders for you.
About the kernel, the ROM you posted includes a kernel in the .zip and when you install the .zip it will flash the kernel for you. Its a fine kernel and works great so dont worry about changing it unless you have problems.
Here is the link on how to flash the bootloaders using Odin. Its not a hard process and pretty safe so let us know how you come out on the other side!

Hi all.
as i can't post yet in a thread mentioned by mrnapolean1 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1362092) I'll try to ask my question here, as it related to a question asked by this thread starter
so i have gingerbread 2.3.5, installed CornKernel_UCKK4_v603 and custom rom SimplyStock KK4 V1.0 , so if i wanted to switch Team ICSSGS [Android 4.0.3] should i do following?
1. wipe data /factory reset
2.wipe system
3.flash from recovery mode Android 4.0.3 zip?
I already have a backup made with Efs Pro as a tar file
anything else i need to do?
thank you so much in advance

Yes, Froyo will still boot. If this were a layer cake it would go something like bootloader, kernel, rom. So basically, your bootloader has nothing to do with your kernel or your rom but it is at the bottom layer of the boot process. It does effect which ROMs you can use though as gingerbread and ICS roms require GB bootloaders. So flash the bootloaders, you will still be on Froyo. Update to GB. Root GB. Place the ROM on your internal SD and then flash it. If you run into any problems check the common problems page found on the first page of the SGSICS ROM.

First, if you want to keep any of your apps or contacts backup those as well using Titanium Backup. Make sure to backup to the External SD card or make a copy of the backup somewhere other than the phones internal SD.
Second, you dont have to wipe data/factory reset before you flash. This is only if you have the problem of a bootloop when you try to install. I had this problem and when I did the wipe data afterward it fixed it immediately. So follow this:
1: Boot into CWM
2: install rom
IF you have an issue with a boot loop at this point
1: Get back into CWM using the button combination
2: Wipe data/Factory Rest and Wipe Cach

ok, in the end managed to boot the phone with working wifi but still would like to know how to flash back to SimplyStock KK4 V1.0, just in case ;-) if that won't be problem for you. thank you !!!
IMHO the best way to go from gingerbread to ics 4.0 is to
- in the development section download stock kk4 without bootloaders, unless you dont have them http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1300843
- then download a kernel of your choice probably cornkernal and put it on your internal sd card
- download ICS latest build and gapps and put them on your internal sd
- oneclick odin the stock kk4, let it boot up completely
- power off and install kernal via odin without aut reset
- boot into recovery, factory/data reset, clean cache, clear dalvik, install latest ics, then install gapps right after,
- reboot system and youre done.
IF you want to go back to your other rom the simplest way is to just kk4 fresh install, install kernal via odin, then isntall your rom.
I always keep all my contacts synced with gmail, and titanium backup any game data or app data i need, and reinstall apps through the market.
hope this helps

[Q] ICS Stunner 5.0 Lcd Density

Hi having some trouble with ICS Stunner 5.0
I am trying to change the Lcd Density to 240 I use the steps in Euphoria but after the final reboot there is no change though 240 is still selected.
I think it may be a problem with root it worked fine with 4.5.
I have tried a clean install twice one thing I noticed there was no #su app or Superuser app in the drawer is that normal?
Any programs that require root work (Titanium Backup) still work.
I ran Root Checker from the market and everything was okay other than
Sudo Location: Sudo Binary not found
Would Root be the problem and should I follow these steps from another post
yes, please flash back to gb stock
root + cwm kernel
flash ics repack
flash stunner 5.0 ( read clean installation steps in post 4 )
Or is there an easier way?
Thanks
That means you don't have proper root. You can double check by copying a file using root ecplorer to system. If it fails then you don't have full root.
To ho back to GB, you need to flash abyss kernel 3.9 first(never 4.2!!), reboot recovery(not system), wipe data, restore backup, wipe data, reboot system.
I encountered exactly the same problem as you do yesterday when i discovered i had no super user and won't change screen density. When i decided to go back to gb by placing my kernel into sd, it won't allow me to transfer the file to my phone(maybe one of the bugs), it hangs at "5 mins remaining". I need to download the file on my mobile connection.

Let the rom settle. Then reboot and wipe caches and dalvik and data.
Now flash ICS stunner 5.0 and clean caches and dalvik and data & reboot!!

Download and copy latest Stunner ROM on your SD Card.
Make sure you are on Rooted ROM. Reboot in recovery.
ONLY IF YOU ARE ON GINGERBREAD: Flash Abyss Kernel. Goto Advanced and Reboot Recovery.
Wipe Data (Recommended but not mandatory if you on Stunner ROM already)
Flash ROM.

This flashing method may cause improper root, it is not the kernel's fault.
I discovered the flashing process will hang at "flashing update" for abyss kernel 4.2 when you attempt to go back to GB, I don't know what causes this problem but all i know is that only absyss kernel version 3.9 works in this case
Working

[Q] Help (Rooting/Brick issue)

I will try to be as detailed as possible. I have been long time user here, but this is the first time I'm posting. I usually read the instructions and posts and that usually suffices my needs. I was on a rooted galaxy note running chasmodo's assylum rom for quite some time now. For Flashing a new rom, I used to go to recovery mode, flash abbysnote kernel (v 3.9) and install a new rom. A few days ago i tried to flash Ezaechiel XXLT6 KM edition - V2.1. I guess I should have checked md5 of the downloaded rom coz after flashing it, my phone refused to boot up. It always took me to the recovery mode screen where i tried to install abyssnote kernel and reinstall assylum. but it didn't work. So I went to dr. ketan's post and tried to flash a pre rooted rom (SGN_XX_OXA_KJ1_FACTORYFS.zip) using pc odin. Now my phone works fine but i'm on ginger bread. I tried to flash new roms using recovery mode (abbyssnote kernel method) but no new rom can be installed. Everytime I try to install a new rom i face boot loop or get stuck on the setup screen. So I follow the PC odin method to flash the same pre rooted rom (SGN_XX_OXA_KJ1_FACTORYFS.zip) to get my phone working again. I would like to go back to assylumrom because i got used to aosp jellybean so much now. Anybody who has faced a similar problem in the past, please help
Use one of PhilZ kernels and then in his recovery prepare your device for a clean install (there is an option that does more than only "factory reset". With the old ones you didn't clean /preload.
Then follow the instructions to install your preferred Rom.
Thanks

Mate first upgrade your stock ROM to ICS or JB. The ROMs like Asylum aren't supposed to be installed in GB, so first upgrade, then root and do a full wipe (data, cache, preload, dalvik) and get back to flash the ROM. No need to flash the Abyssnote every time, why do you do that?

I started using abyssnote kernel to install new roms after the "brick scare" of last year after which a lot of developers started recommending the method. I used to change between GB, ICS and JB roms easily using the abyssnote kernel. Don't know why it's not working anymore.
