"After sometime the lag comes back..."
Sounds like its an app or combination of apps you download/install.

I`am not fond of updates and always try to flash the whole rom. Download the rom for your country/region from here http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3. Install Odin 1.85. Do a data wipe/factory reset in recovery mode and cache wipe. Go in downloadmode and connect to Odin and flash the unzipped rom you downloaded. Usually that is much better.
Good luck

I don't know guys why you are facing this problem, I have same ROM n i dont have any issue. It is not necessary but i always like to update my ROM with clean installation.
I mean before update i like to hard reset my device, another thing i never update my device with Kies/OTA. b'coz it erases Root.
So here is best way to get update.
First downgrade to older ROM
N7000XXKL3 ------ 2.3.6 2011 December-------- N7000ODDKL1
you will find it here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
Read post #2 of above thread regarding Installation guide.
Now if you are interested then You can get Root + CWM (use my guide)
Now after root, you can have Data backup, you can use Titanium backup / Mybackup Pro
Hard reset device.
Now you can update latest ROM (use same tread as above for ROM)
with using CWM/Mobile Odin
You can restore your data, which you have backed up earlier
( You should not restore system part, as it may inject old junk)
Now you will have clean update ROM on your device.

Thanks a lot brother ketan ...
Well , going by the Good ole saying "First Impression is the best Impression"...
I felt the initial firmware is much better .. hence i used your Step by step Procedure to flash old firmware and here i am .. back to Level 1...
Now I feel my Phone is super Fast ... and I really have to think 100 times from now before i plan to do a Firmware update... I fine with the DEC 2011 Firmware Version.
Thanks to all the Folks who Participated in this thread...
Its worth a share of knowledge.
Have a Blast folks ......
Thanks a Ton again .
Sai

But experience of new rom also not less charming!
And now u have old rom handy, (n of course experience to downgrade) so after some time your finger gets itchy to feel new ROM
But really it's wonderful.

Indian Samsung Galaxy root qtn.

I have an indian galaxy s.
I got the device 2 days ago.
THE PHONE ROCKS AND IS AMAZINGLY FAST!!!
I love every aspect of it and now i want to root it.
The device is not simlocked, i bought it outright.
It is a non operator specific device.
My operator is vodafone india.
They provide 2.75G services based on 900 MHz and 1800 MHz digital GSM technology.
I have the folln. in *#1234#
PDA:I9000DDJF3
Phone:I9000DDJF3
CSC:I9000DDJF3
I want to know what method I can use to root the device because I read someone saying that you needed to be on some dutch fw to root the device.(If not can i root it like h tt p:// forum. xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t= 728754
Also I'd like to know whether I can install any of the custom roms like pauls modaco r2.
I dont mind using a prebaked ROM.
Is it possible to go to the I9000XWJFF or the I9000XWJG1 or will I have to stay on the I9000DDJF3?
Also on [htt p://samsung-firmware. webs. com /WEBPROTECT-samsungi9000.htm] samsung roms, there is no I9000DDJF3 ROM. So I don't think I can go back to I9000DDJF3 if I muck up anywhere.
Thanks a million in advance.

Hey!
You don't need any Dutch FW or anything. Just follow instructions given here and you're sorted.
You can upgrade to any firmware you want. Our (I'm from India too) stock firmware isn't available unfortunately. Personally, I'd go with JG5. Totally loving the firmware! Though you can flash to Paul's r2. You'll have to flash JG1 first and use the update over that. Also, you'd be automatically rooted if you flashed the r2.
It's pretty difficult to brick your phone honestly. If a flash doesn't work out right you can almost always just enter the download mode and re-flash. I've had issues myself, but nothing to fret about really.

I'm an Indian user too (Bangalore). Bought my SGS almost 2 weeks ago. Was VERY annoyed with the stock firmware (DDJF3). The black-outs really got on my nerve. Will you not be irritated if your 30k phone hangs up on you for several seconds (to open the dialer app so you can type the number down) right when the pretty girl you're talking to offers to give you her phone number, and you have to ask her to wait 5 seconds to write it down?! Of course, the black-outs aren't there all the time. Usually only when you use the phone after a long gap (at least in my case). But it's still VERY annoying. That's NOT what I paid 30k for!
So yeah, finally flashed to JG5 a few days ago. Very happy with it. Although I can still see the black screens, it's always for ~1 second max and it only happens with some apps. Dialer and Contacts don't lag at all anymore. I really think you're gonna love your phone even more if you upgrade your firmware to JG5
Use mimocans lagfix from the sticky if you have a micro sd and way the lag gone.

I am also from India (Delhi), and currently running rooted JG5 firmware with the sdcard lag fix
I am Hyderabad & i am on jg5 rooted with sd lag fix. Great phone now.
Only thing i am missing after sd card fix is the default ringtones & notifications. Othrwise loving it.
I have recovered from a bricked state about 10 days ago so follow the steps correctly.

Hey guys got my galaxy s from mumbai (irla, andheri). Using from past 2 weeks and this phone rocks.
Guys dont go with jg5, iam on jm2 and it rocks. Rooted with update.zip method and used root explorer to remove unwanted apps and media. This baby rocks. Loving the built in task manager and asphalt 5 is cool.
I have tried samset custom rom when i was on jg5 but i didnt get any performance boost. Iam really happy with the jm2 and waiting for the promised froyo update in the month of august or september.

Hi Abhay,
It is I9000XWJG5. You can download it here. Use the 512 pit which can be found here. I used all 3 files to flash (PDA = CODE, PHONE = MODEM, CSC = CSC). I did it with the re-partition option enabled. I'm using Airtel too, and before flashing the new firmware, I used an app called "APN Backup & Restore" which can be found on the Market to backup my APN settings. Then after flashing JG5, install the same app again and restore the settings. No issues regarding connectivity after that .
Also, I've seen many people report lag in JM2, so I'm still on JG5 and will probably use the same until the next official firmware release. It's just stable and works the way one would expect it to.
BTW, a simple but a very effective tip - once you open the Phone app or the Contacts app, don't use the back button to close it. Use the Home button. I've found that it opens in an instant the next time you use it if you follow this. Same applies for all apps (like Messaging, Music Player etc.).
Good luck! Let us know how it goes

I am due to buy my i9000 this weekend - hxxp://bit.ly/why-i9000

I bought a Galaxy S last saturday. I tried the JP1 and JP2 Froyo builds but flashed back to JM2 as it was more stabler.

How much you paid for the device? best I could get was INR 27,500 in New Delhi
28K in Bangalore.
Sorry, this might seem offtopic - Chroma Retail chain users can get an additional discount from hxxp://bit.ly/b3XzIH
I bought my SGS 2 weeks back and OMFG it rocks. I can usually be found rocking it in the office elevator and when people ask about it I act all annoyed
Anyway, I rooted the phone and have taken a Titanium backup. I plan to flash JG5 and do the lagfix, but will Titanium restor ALL my apps and settings? I have spent of a lot of time customizing this baby (I would highly recommend the paid version of LauncherPro Plus) and don't want to lose all that hard work.
Also, once I apply the lagfix, will it be a problem flashing future FW's?
Thanks!
EDIT: Bought it from Mumbai for 28K
EDIT2: Is it possible to partition my sd card from within my phone? My linux does not recognize my laptop's card reader and I don't know of any way in Windows7
Yes. It is possible to partition without resorting to Computer. Search the internet for 'sdparted'. But that script will not help you create EXT3/EXT4. Works only with EXT2 and FAT32 etc. I guess it may support EXT3/4 partition resize though.

Well first advice is to read read read these forums, lots of information.
Your phone has a quite old version of android so updating that would be a good start. Froyo 2.2.1 is the latest official which should be available in Kies for you. Gingerbread 2.3.3 is expected to be officially released for the SGS within the next 2 weeks. You can also flash custom ROMs and newer ROMs then Kies offers you yourself, but without 3-button recovery thats tricky. Atleast make/buy and test a recovery JIG before going there.
Then maybe slap on a theme of your liking and get some good apps (dont be afraid to pay a few bucks for good apps either)
Being bored of phone usually means youre not doing anything interesting or fun with it a phone in itself is only so exciting

well, there's your problem
I don't know how much you already know but I advise you to read as much stickies and rom threads as you can. After that you will probably come to the conclusion that you want to install a custom ROM. Do so and your life will change forever
If you need any help, don't hesitate to consult the search function (or ask here^^)
Have a look here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=814091
This is the place to start.
After you have read everything there, this would be some steps to follow:
1.Install ADB on your computer
2.Download Odin 1.7
3.Repair your 3-button recovery/download problem with Richtofen's guide (after this you can do whaterver u want with your phone, as long as you stay away from firmwares with bootloaders included)
4.Flash a 2.2.1 or 2.3.3 firmware using Odin (i recommend one of the deodexed firmwares from Ramad's thread)
5.Apply what ever theme you want
Maybe this instruction seem a little hard to understand now but after you've finished reading the wiki from the link i've posted, it will be more clearer.
thanks for all the replies I will start reading about what you guys have posted in the morning iam on my mobile now and it is late please stay in touch with me I will be replying activly and frequently thx again ! Being afraid in starting is normal .... but the golden rule is to read and understand several times what procedure u have to follow...and second imp thing is read n follow instructions provided in specific post.
As different rom needs different technique and different procedure.
Another thing is search youtube for videos on how to's.

Here is a link to custom rom MIUI 2.3.3. (I am not telling u to install it on ur device this is just for reference n learning purpose). It has all the instructions and also a video on how to install the rom. I would suggest just read the whole thing and try to understand what is involved in the process.

Once you done with it then find another thread of custom rom and read through it.
And even read the comments on different pages it is very useful and most of the questions are also.answered. Thats how i learned .

Yes you can. There are lots of useful posts here guiding you through and holding your hand, but *you* need to spend 5 minutes looking for them, OK?
I don't know which ROM you are on, but generally GB has been very reliable. You might wish to reflash the rom or flash another version.

Your request does require you to take time reading and trying out. Probably 2 hours of reading/learning time, 1 hour installation of software and trying out.
If you are at all unsure about any of this or if it's simply too much hard work, take your phone back to a Samsung Care Point and explain your problem. They will reflash it for you.

GB 2.3.6 XXLK2 scrolling bug

There's an issue witch XXLK2 software. Happens when i scroll a long list. After i touch scren for the 2nd time to scroll down faster image freezes. I heared that some roms are scroll bug free, but i don't know which and i woud like to know them
Or if somebody know other way how to fix this problem than flashing rom, please let me know

Could be because of high cpu or ram usage? and may I ask why you are still using GB?
Even I have noticed this issue when I was on GB... but this thing rarely happens to me on JB now...
No it's not cuz of cpu usage - it happens always, every single time, and it's not like lag. It just stop immediately like this:
youtube.com/watch?v=tXEglI1_XUw
and like that
youtube.com/watch?v=l86WHZ13ZXM
But i heared that while using some other roms than XXLK2 there is no such issue. Just don't want to check one by one to find it out - it would be tiring :silly: and i could bric my phone by mistake
I use GB because of huge lag that exsist in JB while opening contacts, dailer, messages JB has new funcionalities, and is more beautifull but somehow i just like GB. Maybe later i became conviced to Jelly Bean
PS. Sorry that i didnt use YOUTUBE marks but i can't.

Whoa thats something I never experienced!
I mean of me it lagged while scrolling through Music/Videos/Image files after I cleaned Cache ~ as the OS was busy rebuilding the Cache again as I was scrolling... but this isn't the problem I had on GB!
Have you tried Completely cleaning your Cache and Dalvik? Have you tried a complete Factory Reset? If no please make a Complete backup of all your files/apps and do that.... and yes you have to be Rooted for all this
I did factory reset and wipe. This two didn't make any difference. (and for factory reset and wipe i don't need root ).
But I don't know what dalvik is (read that it's rome kind of virtual machine and " It is the software that runs the apps on Android devices" - Wikipedia) and how to clean it (so I believe that there the root is needed ).
Could you tell me what gives cleaning the dalvik ?
Oh so aren't you rooted? You need to install a custom kernel with TWRP recovery on it.. Then Wipe the cache and dalvik cache there....
And have you tried using another GB firmware? Maybe the one you are using right now has this issue... When I was using GB, I did not have this issue...
Sent from my phone, because I'm away from my PC right now
I was on xxlk2 also before and had that problem after the last update. I guess it's the firmware problem. You can try dxlk2 for gb. My friend was using that and no lags or problem at all.

You can use firmwares from other region with no problem provided that you're not tied to any providers. I'm from dxlk2 region but I was using xxlk2 with no problem.
If my memory serves me correctly SGSA had that problem on some GB firmware way back, after some update.
P.S. Yeah, here it is: link. And it was the same FW you are using. Good old search option of XDA forum (or any other forum )
