Try turning off bluetooth. It might be preventing the phone from deep sleep. Just a thought.

Actually I just turn the bluetooth on for half an hour to listen music,
it's about 1 hour didn't turn it on.

I have try juice defender, it disables the network while screen off, it does a great job in saving battery. However, it makes me can't receive whatsapp messages while screen off.
Is there any method for doing so without affecting the whatsapp?

android system is eating my battery because is sending data. Does anybody knows why?

I myself am not so much of a fan of juice defender, but hey you could try. Try turning off bluetooth and wifi when you're not using it. Non matching baseband and RIL could cause some trouble, so maybe you could check whether they match with GetRIL from the market.

Here is my battery stat today after using juice defender, taskiller, and setCPU. It did great while screen off, but the stat still unreasonable. I have no call this morning but it shows, The cell standby still very high.
I think it just save battery when screen off but do nth with the cell standby battery drank.

I'm using this baseband and RIL, any other better suggestion for alien revolution CM7 rom ?
Sent from my Optimus 2X using XDA App

the cell standby and all the other percentages only show how battery cunsumption is devided. so if you have still 90% battery left, and cell standby shows 25%, that means from the 10% drained, cell standby has used 25% of that 10%, overall this means cell standby used 2,5% of your battery til then.
if your battery lasts between 16h and 1,5 days, its quite normal.

Hi fai420,
Firstly your Combo BaseBand-RIL is not bad but you can upgrade to V20L Europe I think. If you pay attention to battery life, There are some kernel who reduce the CPU frequence when the screen is off.
"Recalibrate battery is useless" Say Google's engineer
For Example i find that this Rom has good battery life if you respect the recommendations of developper like "v20Q BB will drain your battery too fast!!! v20M BB + v20L Italy RIL (Rom default) ist the best combination for this ROM. You might also try v20J RIL." But don't put the baseband and ril on CM7.
So with CM7 you have to try some combo BaseBand Ril and Kernel and find the best way
You also try PimpMyCpu and make some profil
It's a bit messy but I hope I helped you
Give me some news

I personally like the app "CPU Tuner". It's free on market and you can create profiles to manage the frequence of CPU. I use the simple profile for screen on/off. On screen off, the app lock the frequence of CPU in a value configurable.

If you feel you have unreasonable high battery drain I would suggest to do a
Full Wipe
(Factory Reset + Cache Partition +Dalvik Cache)
reflash the ROM
And if you want to use a custom Kernel
- Wipe Cache Partition
- wipe Dalvik Cache
flash the Kernel of your desire.
Only restore User Apps via Titanium Backup - for System Apps use the option "only Data".
I'm not sure which of these steps did the trick for me, but after this procedure my battery life went up significantly.

What if i cant. My xperia play isnt rooted

How to improve battery life?

Hello fellas. I am running Fasty VI, and battery life has not been as good as I feel it should be. I'm aware that KH3 is one of the best fw as far as battery life goes. I also have turned off auto brightness, auto rotate.
Just to give an example, I took the phone off a/c at 6:30 am, and the time of this post at 8:56 am I have 69% battery.
Is it possible to increase battery life by using a different modem?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Whats using your battery? Check if a app is eating your juice. How many apps/ widgets you got running at once, are you OC/OV?

didnt realize there was a kernel with oc/uv for kh3
yes a different modem could help battery life, just make sure its an I897 modem and not an I9000.
also turn OFF power saving mode in display settings could save some ( i know weird but it helps adjust the brightness and when you have auto brightness off its just a meaningless process going on)
you could also switch to 2g when you dont need the speed, also turning off background data will save some juice.
Best way to extend your battery life is to get an extended battery
sry couldn't resist
Lol fuloplori.
I have power saving mode off as well I forgot to mention that.
As far as widgets go, today, which is what I've been using as ab benchmark, I have three minimal text widgets for time, date and battery, as well as evernote and keep the lights on.

No there isn't a kernel but there is an app that DOES OC/UV and OV the captivate. Its called Tegrak. Just saying....
Also I've had a issue with Maps app and when ever I set alarms battery drains alot faster. Not as much as you are experiencing but still. Random question have you recalibrated your battery lately? As studa said Modem might be the culprit bur I've never heard of KH3, KF1 or KI2 modems be a issue with native roms.
Well, I re-calibrated my battery a few days ago, but now that you mention it, I have doubts wether I should do it when the battery is at 100% or 0%.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Personally I charge it up to 100 then unplug and charge till it says 100%. I repeat that 2-3 times then I delete the battery file on cwm and let it drain till it shuts off. I've read of other methods no clue on differences. Btw Where you from bro?
I checked battery statistics and facebook was unusually high, at 24% right above 23% for display. When I checked on the market under my apps, out want there. I installed out and re-downloaded it.
I'll try your method for calibration.

I'd suggest u get Watchdog Task Manager and track down the app/s that is/are misbehaving. For further more enhancements u could freeze cpl apps that u don't use/need with TiBu. Read more about it over on pikachu01's thread, keep in mind that his thread is i9k centric.
Last but not least, I hope ur not using a task killer !!! (specially on a regular basis)
As far as task killers I'm aware that they are not necessary anymore. The odd thing is that today, after unplugging my phone for 3 hours my phone is still @ 100%.

Task killer isn't needed. Android task manager does the job well enough. Task killer will just use more resources.
Use titanium backup and freeze apps that take up a lot of resources when they aren't in use.

[Q] Battery Drain issue after ICS(india) update

Battery is draining very fast after updating to stock ics (india) update through kies.
I never rooted the phone.
* Battery was 100%(fully charged) before going off to sleep. Wake up in morning (after 8.5 hours) battery was at 70%. And battery went to 1% after 6 hours of use.
Please let know if this is happening to all notes. And how to resolve this issue. If this issue is here to stay I would like to go back to GB.
I had the same problem but you have to wait for Barry to settle down
Also let your battery drain out completely and then put on charging and let it get 100% charged
Also you can check of your phone is going into deep sleep by set cpu app
Hope this will help

Look up the threads on deep sleep issues. Download the free cpuspy and see if the CPU is going into deep sleep when you turn it off or if it stays powered at 200Mhz and draining your battery.
My fix was go into settings -> Sound ->
scroll to the bottom
turn off dial-pad touch tones
turn off touch sounds
turn off screen lock sound
turn off vibrate on touch
(although i didn't need to do it, turn on airplane mode by holding down the power button and clicking flight mode)
Restart.
Check cpuspy once started (you might want to turn the screen off for a minute to go into deep sleep). Cpuspy should show a deep sleep being used for the idle time.
You can turn the sounds back on if you like.

I had the same issue with stock ICS Indonesia unrooted. At the first cycle of charged i thought it was normal to wait the ICS settled itself with my phone. But the problem still continued for 6 days. So i took a little time checking my battery usage info, cpu spy and battery stats. It turn out that the culprit is tweetcaster (free version with ads) had drain my battery. 20% an hour while tweetcasting
So this morning (my local time) i uninstalled free tweetcaster and replaced it with pro version. And all the came back to normal. No more battery drain. In fact i think ICS is better than CHECK ROM HD 6 which i was using before.
The point is, check your apps. Does it have a lots of ads running on background? Does your phone get hot all the time? If so than maybe the ads is your enemy here.
I hope this helps. Sorry for bad english. First time posting here.

Hey bro, here is something which I replied to somewhat same issue.
Point is that I am running on Custom ROM built on safe kernel.
But still you can follow up some good things which I mentioned out there.
As mentioned by some friend before, CPU Spy is a market app which basically tests whether your phone goes to deep sleep or not.
Rest explained here:

Not sure if this will help or not but if you go into wireless and press the menu key, there is an advanced option. Change the setting for "keep wifi on during sleep".

Are you Serious?

really? i barely used the phone. everyone is turned off except wifi and i did not even use the the browser. this can't be real. only that much time and it's almost halfway dead and i barely used it. i know there have been battery threads before but man... how can it be this horrible. btw juice defender don't do crap, i've had it for the today and yesterday, was crap so i uninstalled. had brightness are low as i can without making me squint.

I've had relatively poor battery life as well... I went 12 hours with a recharge from 10 to 50% again before it completely drained...
I'm not impressed with the battery on this phone but everything else has been great.
... I'm starting to think I'll have to make my own Qi Charger for pant pockets... embed it in your pocket so whenever the phone is there it's charging. I'm seriously considering trying this to see if it's possible... if so, i'm doing it for sure. Or a carrying case with an extra battery and a Qi Charger... or a Qi charger dock for the car... you get the idea. Wireless charging shouldn't be the fix for poor battery life, but it definitely could help it.

Task managers mess around with Android's memory management and it is fairly well known that they usually end up draining more battery than they save. Try getting rid of it.
Also other people are reporting that the battery life gets better after a few days of using. Is yours really new? Im not sure how true that is btw.
Probably a combination of that task killer and a wake lock.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
Install Franco's kernel. Battery life has been outstanding (1 Gmail account sync, 1 Exchange account sync, maybe 30 minutes of calls and 100+ texts a day; I have location services & Google Now enabled as well). I average 3+ hours screen on time and I normally end the day around 30% ...
I would stay away from task managers ... it's not that I know what's going on more than you or anyone else, but well established and respected kernel developers recommend against it. If these guys don't know then I honestly don't know who else does ...

Yep...20-30 minutes won't tell the tale. I'd also recommend Brightness Toggle widget...allows a few extra steps (16 total, IIRC) of brightness control over stock, to fine tune screen brightness, often another culprit.

Battery problems: Fast draining!

Hi all!
I need some help with my battery life. I'm new with android since 4 months and I remember the first time I've got this phone it had an awesome battery life. Unfortunately I'm getting a really poor battery life. My phone drains from it self when I'm not using it. For example when I'm in the University and it's just in my pocket, good signal strength (I've even turned off 3G/LTE, since I don't use a lot of Internet there, just whatsapp) and after a 5 hours it drains about 50 % even without using it! -.-
I've installed battery stats and better battery stats, but I don't quite understand how to find out what is draining my battery in standby :/
I'm using rXTREME ROM v5, but I have to mention that I've already had this battery problems with other ROMs, even with the stock one (rooted).
I always carry with my an Extra battery in case of running out of charge -.-
I've talked to one of the students and he shown me his S3 and he had a lot of reaming battery as me and he even used his phone more than me, even with H+/LTE.
Please, can anybody give me some advice on how to fix this problem
Thanks!

I usually do not have issues with battery like that. I saw some improvements with juice defencer.
Have a look into this search: https://play.google.com/store/search?q=battery+saver&c=apps
Also please go settings->battery and get a screenshot. Also tap on the graph on top to see history details and get us another screenshot.
I think this way someone could help you.
Finally if I were you here is what I would do.
1. Install CWM if not already into your device.
2. wipe cache, dalvik, battery stats, factory defaults (you will lose everything so backup, cloud whatever)
3. reinstall everything in your device from scratch.

You can try to reduce those apps running in background, apps that connects to net frequently and syncronizes like google acct, facebook, mails, samsung acct etc. untick those you dont need. For now its the best battery saving we can do.

I use rXTREME v5 and I'm happy with the battery result compared to old roms I use. However you may have different point because we have different way of using our phones.
I'm not sure if will do any difference but you can drain your battery first and wipe battery stats and charge again until its 100% full. They say must charge for 8 hours at first charging.

I was getting some very fast battery drain as well recently, and so having Googled the problem, I've come across several 'solutions', including the one which I think (touch wood) has worked for me so far...
1. Go to settings>more settings>Mobile networks>Network mode and switch it to GSM/WCDMA (Auto mode). This stops the phone looking for a 4G signal and can save the battery a little.
2. Don't use auto brightness, and have it set pretty low (obvious one, this).
3. Uncheck auto-sync and set your accounts (under settings) to manually sync to a time of your choosing,
4. Disable Google Now.
5. Use Juice Defender.
6. Uninstall/Disable/Freeze (if you're rooted) any Samsung Apps - this includes AllShare Play, AllShare Cast, Allshare Service, Group Cast, S Memo, S Planner, S Voice, Samsung Push Service, SamsungAppsUNA and Samsung account. This is the step which I think has made a bit of a difference to my battery.
Good luck!

I presume you're on Pegasus kernel. Give your phone a full charge, then reboot into recovery. Under advanced, wipe battery stats.
Always wipe after a fresh kernel install, although I still wipe after a fresh rom install just for the heck of it.
I got GSam Battery Monitor and discovered Google Maps was draining the battery fast. Disabled weird location sharing settings and it's better now.

Hmm.... I'm on JB and my phone lasts more than one day and I'm a Heavy Interner User and Gamer too... You can try the following....
1. Root and flash any CoCore 5.x kernel
2. Debloat and uninstall any App or service you probably will never use ( use the app NoBloat Free for this... And make sure to not delete any system app which is important - otherwise: BOOTLOOP!)
3. See on Settings > Battery which app(s) is taking most of your Battery
4. Reduce RAM usage - therefore more battery life
5. Check which apps are causing your phone to "wake up" using any wakelock checking app
6. Don't use task killers
7.Use Greenify (app)
8. Turn off sync and GPS
9. Enable Airplane mode before sleeping
10. Install scripts like 4CYL turbo boost
11. Search for build.prop tweaks for BATTERY LIFE
12. Install a custom ROM
If none of the above helps you then please consider changing your battery!

ok I will try with the kernel first..cocore 6.0 is there in android development..should I install that? and my battery is ok since my phone is just 7months old
Yeah you can go with CoCore 6.0 too!
I told CoCore 5.x because I had the best experience on version 5.0... That's why I just told my opinion.... But you're free to choose any one

@Sami Kabir can you give me your build.prop tweaks? please?:crying: because using my phone with wifi drains 1% 3 minutes
Just use the app Pimp My ROM... Its pretty easy to use... Do backup first as a precautionary step...
Open the app... Go to Tweaks tab... Scroll down to Miscellaneous tweaks... Open it and check all the Tweaks there...

Wipe dalvik cache from recovery.. that should reduce the amount taken by Android OS..normally the screen takes the most battery.. unless your device is idle.. in which case it is normal for the os to take most of the battery..
