Has anybody started working on the SGS Wifi 4.0 (Galaxy Player, YP-G1)?
How similar is it to some of the other SGS models (if any, except in name)?
I will attempt to apply known non-flash root methods, and report back, but if anybody already tried this, that would be great.
In particular, getting Gingerbread onto the device (comes with 2.2) would be great.
Also very interested in this upgrade possibility.
Think a couple of apps are no longer "supported" on 2.2.2 Froyo.
Anyone here can knows something about this?

The yp-g1 got a late launch and people simply don't have it at the moment. Someone said that when it gets released in the US, people will start developing it. let's see.

I actually got this from another thread and it worked.
1) Download Samsung USB driver for mobile phones
2) Download Superoneclick 2.1.1
3) connect phone to computer and root

I have seen confirmation in another thread. But post here when you have success.
I had success. Go get Samsung Kies drivers, then head to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682a download, superoneclick 2.2, extract, run as admin, and be patient, this process takes a while. It does 40 second sleep breaks no lie, it appears unresponsive but it's working. Good luck

I am officially rooted on 2.3.5 got it rooted last night, not bad for getting it for christmas, steps to rooting,
1) download kies and get the driver close kies(or use driver from youtube that seemed to work better for me)
2) download doomlords v3 included at bottom
3) run as administrator click root,
4) have device connected as storage device to transfer files
5) it takes allot of time to do it sleeps during the process keep waiting it will work.
Credit to DooMLoRD for creating the tool, I'm just getting it out there because it worked well for me.

hey friends i hav juzz rooted my samsung galaxy s wifi 4.0 without any damages using Revolutionary - zergRush juzz download DooMLoRD_v4_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su.zip
extract to ur place n install usb driver for ur YP-G1 u can get drivers from ur windows updates
after installing usb driver juzz click on runme.bat and press any key to continue
now u will b get root access while in short

The performance is increased a lot

And I don't recommend upgrading to 2.3.5 with kies for the international version. I had an issue with the headphone jack. That's because the update is only for usa and (korean) version for now.
Great rom for the samsung galaxy player/s wifi 4.0. Makes your phone super fast. check it out. Here's a link to see if it will work for you. And one small issue, the home button is not working, but as far as I undrestood, there a way to fix it.

Galaxy mediaplayer bricked
Hi anyone,
I have "successfully" bricked my Samsung Galaxy S Mediaplayer WiFi 4.0, Model YP-G1CW/XEG (Europe Version) during an rooting attempt.
Has anyone a good idea to at least get it into the original status ?
There's no sign of live on the screen, hovever Odin is recognizing the Galaxy and I can start flashing, of course with an error message.

Hey guys, seeing as though I can't post on the actual development forum, I ask the question, how come my CWM features dont work anymore after installing ROMOW-LITE-KKA by mowmo? It comes up with an error message saying that the kernal isn't supported, so some features may not work. With those features being everything.
How am I supposed to get into recovery mode now to reflash another rom? I came from stock KK3, just got my note today actually, but have been flashing roms from having an SGS for a year.
Any help would be great. Searched their thread already and dont find anything relevant to my issue. And yes, I have used the search function for just anything in regards to the SGN forums, and no, no results.

I have searched but i don't find the answers. I purchased a used bionic that is already rooted. It came with eclipse 2.1 RC1. I have nothing but problems with this OS and ready to give up and buy a new phone (i rooted my thunderbolt and installed liquidsmooth aand gave it to my wife, so I'm not totally unfamiliar to this) I was told by previous owner to purchase bionic bootstrapper.
I have no clue about safe side/unsafe side or how to put liquidsmooth in this phone. If anyone can guide me or give me step by step instructions, i would be so grateful.

My mother's phone is galaxy s1.
At first the device was ****ed up so I've installed
this rom for her:

At first I've installed GB 2.3.6 stock rom,
rooted the device and only then installed the nightly rom.
Everything was ok until I installed the gapps
After consulting with the forum and making sure the gapps version was the correct one.
Then,
The device ****ed up again,
many error messages and nothing works.
As I said,
This device is for my mother,
she doesn't need much.
Good stable device where she can
define her google account for contacts, phone numbers etc.
I don't have much time to handle it because I'm really busy lately
and I will have only about two hours this evening to handle her device.
It's needs to be fixed today.
I thought already to just put stock rom 2.3.6 and that's it.
but If you guys suggest maybe installing some other rom
which for sure is stable and I won't have any issues
with the gapps please advise.
Also,
I want her to have complete Hebrew on the device.
Any help will be welcomed here since I need to fix her device in one hour or so ...

Hi All,
Ive dug out my old tab in the hope of turning it into a remote music player. I cannot use the play store anymore to install apps etc.
I would really like to go back to the stock ROM - but all the older links in here are either dead, or are a download site that wants me to install spyware apps to help me download the ROM.
If someone can link me to the original stock rom that actually works, i would be much appreciated.
