Dear Develeoper and User
I think its annoying for everyone that they have to search in every thread a Mirror. Multiupload.com is down. Megaupload.com is down, that means 80+ % of all Files aren't online and downloadable anymore and so they are much threads here about their Rom, Mod, Kernel etc. but not any file anymore.
I hope that every Dev can re-upload ther files.
Here some filesharing sites:
http://dev-host.org/
http://mirrorstack.com/
http://www.mirrorcreator.com/
http://filefactory.com/
http://www.filedropper.com/
https://rapidshare.com/
http://mediafire.com/
http://goo-inside.me/dev
https://www.dropbox.com/
and there are much more...
yes i agree, downloads should re relocated to avoid noobs spammnig the same question over and over again.. but we'll need some1 who can afford that bandwidth to upload..
any1 mind to do it?
You say it. But the only problem isn't just the bandwidth. If i had all the Files i would upload it on a extra Dropbox Account and Mediafie. But i haven't and i can't.
The only reason is hope that the dev or somone with the latest file just upload it.

Here are a few new mirror sites to replace multiupload.
http://mirrorstack.com/
http://www.mirrorcreator.com/
Both are great alternatives!

I have tried to raise the thought to some devs, but nobody seems to be up for it.
A torrent tracker like this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=933720 would allow us all to help out in sharing! I would gladly seed all ROMs I've downloaded!

That would be firmidable, but the only problem is the seed. Think:
New File and just one who have it = 1 seeder and 20+ downloader...
And i also mean threads without working download should be delated from Index in between 10-15 days.

It works out perfectly well for movies, wares and all other things that are illegaly shared via the bittorrent technique! A few things making the initial upload viable:
As soon as someone has downloaded a part from the initial uploader the person will start sharing that piece. This is kinda the key to why the bittorrent technique is so effective! If you use the Initial Upload function built in to some bittorrent clients no two simultaneous peers will get the same part, maximizing the availability of the entire file quickly. With an upload speed of 1 mb/s (roughly 10 mbit connection) getting a full new seeder will take less than 5 minutes! As long as everyone is seeding when they download - which I really think they will - this will very quickly be a very fast and smooth way to share your ROMs, and support the makers of your favorite ROMs!
EDIT: Besides there is always the possibillity to speed up the initial sharing by puting it on those filesharing sites like normal!
You guys are confused there are no devs here... Just kaijura.
Sent from my Incredible S using xda premium
Mhm, thats the another problem....
Kajura seams to be one of the fee aktive devs here, the another are inactive or on a anothrmer device.
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using xda premium
there's currently no devs working but kaijura.
all the other devs are waiting for an official ics rom
Ok, well, that's an issue - or an opportunity! If the forum (mods) make an announcement to support the use of the torrent technique to share ROMs, it will have time to settle in the minds of the devs! It will also give them a chance to start testing it out by starting to share their current ROMs this way..
I think it would revolutionize the way we (non-premium members of the file-sharing sites) can gain access to the files! All it would take is some encouragement from the mods... or rather, that would be a good step on the way =)

*ahem* link generators.
I want at First a Re-Upload the older files. Torrent would be a nice idea, but who want to install a torrent application on his pc and is there a good apk to download it on the device? Much user (often non-devs) visit xda just with their phones

tTorrent is a perfectly good Android torrentclient (https://market.android.com/details?...sMSwxLDEsImh1LnRhZ3NvZnQudHRvcnJlbnQubGl0ZSJd). You can set it to only ul/dl when on wifi, for instance!
I already have a client on my PC and think a lot of other ppl do too!

I've tried to download Extreme Formula (49 MB) from Market but Milestone says that I can't.
Someone told me that it is a problem of cache for download: if the apk is bigger than 29 MB you can't dowload anything.
Is it true? Is there a way to improve this limit??

Resolved with GINGERBREAD!
But Milestone doesn't have so much power to run this game....
CyanogenMod 7.2
So, I'm continuing PCF's CyanogenMod 7. I'm just a Novice Developer and this is my first ROM. So, there might be some bugs left. I'm still learning Dev stuff. I'm building this ROM to experiment my own System mods and Interfaces
Great Thanks to:
PCFighter - For his sources and Kernel
Zice - For his modified Kernel
Miroslav, DevSwift - For fixing GSM and DSP Manager
What works:
Possibly everything
Changelog:
GPS Fixed
Tethering fixed
Volume keys swap with orientation (needs little work)
Sensor libs from Mur4ik and 2.1
Probability of getting Wifi without errors at first start is almost 90%
More Free RAM
My Mods:
- SMS conversations are bit aligned
- ICS like Settings
- Misc Settings
-> SD Read Cache
-> Swappiness
-> (More to come)
What doesn't:
- Manual Network Selection (just displays the networks but does not select them)
- Headset button
- Compass works better, but is less sensitive

Yup! That's the only change I've done
Besides, it's based upon PCF's CM7 Beta 5 along with Zice updated kernel.
I cannot test WiFi at the moment as my WiFi router's dead. So I'm using an alternate router.
hmm ok i will stress test the rom for stability when i am done i will report here. seems like your spec are the same as mine (well very similar at least) but when i get the chance i will try on my sis mac book quar core should do it faster
Edit: god damn it i can't help you anymore can't download from there >_> downloading to many files at one time .... stupid internet setup....

You could try Connectify if you have WiFi PCI card or USB WiFi and Windows 7. Or another Android phone so you could make hotspot. Anyway, I really have to learn to dev, I have access to schools server PC (not being used as server, but a regular PC) with Intel Xeon processor with 8 cores, 4GB of RAM and 1TB hard drive.
Can someone make me a mirror? I can't download from filefactory.

I believe it is because the kernel reserves some ram for the hardware components. So the device has 256MB, but Android can only use 226 or so.
Fine I Tried to port ICS to OG droid Its working smooth fast & bug free

Hi !
Thank you for let me to know !
Was not tested befor ...but ... well it works
I read review up and started upload.
I will test (and build version with my mods) deodex firmware.
I tested it in sitetic benchmark.
Quadrant ~ 4145 marks
Antutu benchmark 3.x ~ 8740 marks
It's more than 4.0.26 firmware, but it's only sintetic tests!

R: [ROM] Stock Archos Firmware 4.0.28 | Root version !
Hi Surdu_petru!
First of all thanks for your contributions...
Then... i use clean_slim& fast v2 rom with supercharge script...do you think there'll be a v3 with the new firmware/kernel? Is there any way for me to have the advantages of the new official release (if any)?
Thanks again
Hi !
Also , this root version have a smoll avantage : init.d support !
so, you can check scripts ( putting any scripts on /system/etc/init.d - the script will be run automatic on every boot ! ) ...so you can take advantage of faster performance, if you know what script to put! :good:
I'll make a deodex version with busybox in , init.d support and increase /data speed ! ( nothing more , because I can not test it ...)
Good luck !
If you want i test for you stability and more tweak
Which of the multiple releases of the Archos 4.0.28 firmware are you basing you rooted versions on surdu_petru?
Listed below are the dates I downloaded what was listed as the 4.0.28 firmware from the Archos website, the size that was listed on the website at that time, and the true downloaded file size.
Feb. 25 -- Listed on site: 210,030 Kb -- Actual size: 215,070,152 bytes
Feb. 28 -- Listed on site: 210,040 Kb -- Actual size: 215,080,008 bytes
Mar. 02 -- Listed on site: 210,046 Kb -- Actual size: 215,086,104 bytes
Seems like Archos has a really bad habit of changing things behind people's backs WITHOUT telling anyone what they have changed. I've caught them pulling this crap before several months back also. It really doesn't make sense to keep using the save version number when the change things, and I consider it totally dishonest to not inform people about the changes.

Hi !
Take a look here !
thanks surdu, I was worried you might have left us once you didn't get your g9 back.
For everyone else, after testing since shortly after Surdu uploaded this rom I have found this update isn't bug free, I have now lost my GPS. The system can see it after a reboot, but I can no longer get a fix at all even using all the old tricks. Obviously this is down to Archos and its unlikely we are going to see a fix.
I cleared AGPS data (in GPS Test Plus) and got a fix in 37 seconds.
Tried clearing agps too but to no avail

Mine won't lock if it is hot, but I think will maintain lock after getting hot..
I use a program called GPS Aids Free from the Play Store, set to 'Other' device, and do all three procedures too.

Search for jb odex,it should provide some extra space.
Try using minicm10,or jellybean by davee, they are most developed roms.
Btw. odex won't work with any davee's rom or with based on it (so probably all roms from yari too). For me litecm10 is great, it's just lighter minicm10. It's usable but only if you are not going to listen to music from phone, 4.1+x8+music=lags everywhere. But if you want jb look and fast rom just wait some time for optimus nexus me v6 - I've seen screens on facebook and it will be very very jelly
The best way to increase free space:
- drop every sh!t from the rom
- odex it
- remove all languages from the rom
- check how many mb used in /system and compile the kernel with new partition sizes
You can gain 20-25 mb after removing the languages (go into the minicm10 faq thread, I wrote earlier how to do it), you also gain another 40-50 mb additional space after changing the gigantic latinime and trebuchet to any normal sized app and removed the trash (wallpapers, ringtones, etc...)
You lost some space on /system after odexing, but you win lot of space on /data.
You can shrink the /system partition size in the kernel config to make bigger /data partition (and remove the /recovery partition, this is useless, only 10 mb wasted space).
If you do these steps, you can get free space on /data partition up to 250 mb.
