if any body want to run ubuntu on there devices then they can do this by simply downloading a free app from market called ubuntu installer
it will need you to download an ubuntu.img file link is given in the app no need to create one manually
terminal emulator
android vnc and
ubuntu.sh script
its a very easy procedure to do so just download the app from market and start using ubuntu
Well if you need something easy go with iOS and you would've at least scrolled trough the guide before talking. Seems that you didn't. But since you are talking about ubuntu, create your own thread about ubuntu on android. This is a thread to talk about debian on android using the guide i provided.

Dude, I posted a solution at post #23, which is the same thing that shabby posted at post #26 in the bounty thread.
I am not discounting shabby as I am sure he knew how to do exactly what he did, but next time you offer something, you should pony up to the first solution that does what you requested.
Compare my batch file to his if you don't have any faith. Just because I made sure you were serious, and you took offense, doesn't mean you shouldn't do what is right.
And by the way, I apologized for any hurt feelings over my, "Are you serious" comment.
EDIT - I was missing a library, fair enough. Statement Retracted.

i understand your concern about this issue, but i think it was more of a mine had everything included in it from the get go, whereas your option (at the time) still required drivers to be searched and used.
also
mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
mv /system/etc/install-recovery.sh /system/etx/install-recovery.sh.bak

and as a side note the su zip wouldnt have pushed as when you flashed cwm it unmounts the sdcard, have to go in and manually mount it.
again i am sorry but i was the first one to have a fully working version.. if you have any issue with this please either post in the other thread, or take this to a pm

Shabby, I returned to stock to try this out and after the unlock when it boots into recovery, it's getting hung up at the android logo and an exclamation point. What would cause that?
sounds like there was an issue flashing cwm, whats mind pastebin'in me the output of the terminal?
just saying could not load, the easy fix was just putting your cwm file in sdk/tools
ah yes, this zip is assuming you dont have path set/sdk installed ill look into making a newer version thats a bit more advanced tomorrow. prolly whip up a linux friendly version as well. can try mac but no guarantees
on a side note might wanna update your sdk as the newer ones use "platform-tools" for adb/fastboot
I was wondering what do I need to know, or do, to develop my own rom. I was thinking of porting one of the roms here like froyobylazlo, and modding it. How do I mod a rom?
I have ubuntu 9.10, and sdk, and jdk setup. And I know a tiny bit of java.
Pleez help, I am desperate to start working!
P.S I already used the "search" function so please don't tell me that I'm too lazy to do that.

oh yea one question, do i have to install sdk on ubuntu as well? or just on my pc?
sorry for delay but no you dont have to.. i have it on windows..
no worries, ok then cuz i already have it on windows as well.
Ive been looking into the links cyanogen posted in the some advice link you gave me, and i hardly understand anything, and its alot to learn, but ill keep reading.
So far, it looks hard to create my own rom.
yeah it gets pretty difficult but mostly consists of the lynix ubuntu and the source code repo link i sent you.. thats what im working on now.. lol
in that case, its not that hard..
cyanogen put links more for app devs..
i think thats why it seems so hard..
so all we have to do is repo, compile, build and thats it?
we dont have to write code or scripts and stuff?
yeah pretty much.. you have to edit scripts here and there to get things working if your going to mod it.. the link i sent you is to create a gingerbread flashable rom..
yea ezterryy's ezginegerbread,, do u have any helpful links for editing scripts/modding?
no not at the moment.. i only know about language so far..
ok thanks.. let me know when you do..
i really aprrecitate you taking the time to helping me.

My guess is you would also need an IDE like Eclipse to do the building in, and run an ant build to compile it all once done, though I've not tried to chew it off myself.
Does Android use J2ME? Or J2EE?
Anyone know? I do stuff at work on J2EE and J2SE, but never have jacked with the micro Java, J2ME API.
Hello xda
this probably isnt the right place to ask, but i need help
So, ive put backtrack 5 on my beloved sensation and i'd like to be able to write java apps on the go. so i installed the open jdk and the eclipse enviroment. The problem is, that i downloaded eclipse for 32bit linux... and i dont know if that should be it i tried to run it with no success. Could it be that i need the eclipse compiled for arm? could it be that i jjust did something wrong?

Well then you should be able to code android Read any guide?
No.
But Android apps and most framework parts are written in java, so the language isn't a problem.
Any furhter information is in the android api documentation, so i don't think this is a major problem.

Well if that's the case maybe you can make a build from winxusers git? It is the port that is the problem. He hasn't changed every I9300 to I9305 in the rom. Wich is a problem
I will lay down the details when I get home from the cinema
If we're all beginners anyway I'll throw my name in the hat. I have no idea exactly what to do but I am a skilled C and java programmer (more so java than C) and I have experience with the Android build system. If someone can guide me I'm sure I can provide assistance.
Thanks man! I have very little knowledge in porting roms but this should help! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1598713
