Being in the UK and having a UK Note, our Notes seem to be pretty unspotted where official updates are concerned. After getting the phone in November there has only been one OTA released.
After reading on here you can download newer firmware from the sammobile suite and flash it using Odin, i have a question.
What are the ramifications of downloading a non UK firmware update onto a UK device? The latest seems to be an Indian update. If i were to install this update how would the ROM be different from the UK version?
Any advice would be appreciated.

I'm in the same situation as you mate. A week or two ago I got fed up and flashed LB1 via pc odin. The only ramifications of having a mismatched csc are that you can't do ota updates. But to be honest, I figured we in the UK would be unlikely to get them first in any case, so we can just continue to flash latest versions as soon as they are released here on xda regardless of region via pc odin anyway.
(I've since changed my csc to dbt, and rooted anyway, but that's beside the point)

Hi,
I bought a Galaxy S in Germany and i updated the firmware from the stock version (JF3 i guess) to JM1 using kies, and now kies is asking me to update my firmware to JM1, is that correct? Are there more than one official iterations of JM1?
Thanks in advance for any anwsers you may provide.
Noticed same issue. My original product code ends with DBT.
If I change product code to XEU (UK) I have latest firmware.

i see the same as op does
Since I'd rather not spend time with Odin (kinda chicken!?) I'd rather only update the firmware using what Kies provides...and here is the issue..
The last available firmware through Kies is the 2.2 dating back to october...have any other Norwegian Telenor customers been able to get newer firmwares using Kies...or must I do what so many others do and go for Odin if I'd like the latest versions?
Im returning my sgs due to the faulty gps and exchange support.
I have a nordic generic sgs. And the latest fw is the onw from october. Were told by a samsung rep that a new release were due at xmas. But havent seen it yet. If you are going to flash through odin. I would recommend Darkys ROM.

Last I heard, from a swedish forum, was that the nordic version will be released before march.
So we should expect it in january-february.
Hey, my n7000 is shows germany in region, and now its on 2.3.6. i'm from israel and like to know if i should change the region for updates? is there a international region?
b.t.w the phone is simfree
If you want OTA or updates over Kies you need to install the proper Rom for your country.
You can find here

iirc, german models were one of the fastest to get updates.
more importantly, tell us which version your device is currently running. if its already on the latest version then its pointless to waste time swapping regions and wiping your device.
its the latest for now
android 2.3.6
baseband xxlb2
kernel xxlc1

Hi, i would like to update my SGM from 2.3.4 to 2.3.6, but keeping the same PHONE and CSC of my country (italy).
I downloaded the firmware of hungary, which is the latest version available.
So it's possible to update via ODIN the PDA part only, excluding the PHONE and CSC?

Hmm i'm wondering..what's the better, to update to that XWKTU firmware or to stay at XIKQC? I would like to update, but they seem to release an update every few months or so. Is it comfortable to flash every update? Can you keep your data to avoid installing stuff & personalizations every time? What's your experience

Hi.
Is it normal that some devices started receiving 4.1.2 in December, while others like mine, there is still no update for 4.1.2 (CSC-I8190OXXALJ8, Europe, Portugal, UNBRANDED)?
My unbranded Xperia received ICS (4.0.3) the day Sony released it. Also, when Sony released ICS 4.0.4, there was also no waiting time. Is this normal on Samsung?
PS: I know i can use Odin.

I have XXALJ8 and have 4.1.2.
Ok. Just checked. Looks like there is no 4.1.2 update for Portugal on Sammobile.
Well i guess you will have to wait.

I'm tired of waiting for 4.1.2 (I8190OXXALJ8).
So i'll use odin to flash this firmware I8190XXAMB2 (Spain), downloaded from sammobile, official, not rooted.
Two questions:
1-Will i be unable to update through Kies?
2-Will i lose warranty?
3-When 4.1.2 is released for my phone can i revert back to 4.1.1 (I8190OXXALJ8; already downloaded from sammobile) and update to 4.1.2?
4-Will this increase counter?
Thanks
