did you flash CM7 or nandroid restore? If you restored and wifi worked, that means, you didn't set up the wifi in your phone after you flashed either texasice or medroid because the wifi data is gone when you did full wipe. Is your wireless network password protected? And is the router set up as DHCP or get the IP static? If static, you have to manually set up your phone again.

Wifi on Cyanogen issues

I just finally got sick of waiting for an official Froyo(Bell isn't about to give me an upgrade anyhow.) So I went to a froyo rom that was based on one of the stock roms. But I figured since I'm rooted anyhow why not play around, and grabbed cyanogen 6.1 and installed it. Then I end up with the issue of its not connecting to my wifi, I have no issues on the stock 2.2 roms. One thing I have noticed is the cyanogen shows the network as wep, but it's actually wpa encrypted. I flashed into it from the stock without clearing it first and it worked until I shut off and came back to it. Any ideas on what might be the issue. I'm fairly new but I did look and couldn't find anything to fix this.
I assume you flashed 6.1 stable version? I have no issue whatsoever on my device (and I also used official froyo previously). Did you wipe all before flashing 6.1?
He said he "flashed without cleaning"...so I presume no wipe. This could be the problem, a wipe is strongly adviced if going to CM from a non CM ROM. Also check the number of WiFi channels set by default in advanced settings of wifi. It is set for 11 and if the router is set to 13 or 14 it could not work

I had the same problem when i was installing CM6.1. (with wipe)
The phone could just se a wep version of my network and not the wpa that i have. But after i turned on and off the wifi a couple of times i suddenly saw the wpa version of my network and after i connected to that the problem was solved. I also did click "forget network" on the wep version.
Hope this will help you

Trying this now but no go. Sometimes will flash it as wpa and then jump back to wep. This is after a full wipe. What I was trying to say was once I flashed in without wiping and it worked for a bit but jumped right back to not working, after the phone going to sleep.
Bump.
Any insight into this issue? Still only reading my network as wep.
Try installing "WiFi Advanced Configration Editor" from the market. You should be able to change to WPA manually with it.
Did you try to reset your wifi router?sometimes the issues came up from wifi router, not the phone itself.
Mine is fine. I share my broadband wifi to my phone using connectify.
The only problem remains is wifi disconnect frequently, but I heard that it's due to a new kernel which I use (.32 kernel)
hope it helps
Ya reset the router a few times, and it still came up like that. I did install the wifi advance config software mentioned it seemed to fix it. I didn't actually set anything up on it and it seems to have fixed it. Thanks.
CM 6.1 messed up my wifi. Wiped everything, but it suddenly doesn't find my networks.
Wiped again and restored nandroid backup of working rom but STILL the same issue now!! Can I flash the wifi drivers again somehow?

[Q] unable to get data connection

Hi guys,
I'm being annoyed by my SGS about his data connection. Hope someone could help me!
Few days ago I flashed MIUI Mintberry 2.1.20 and everything was working like a charm, but this morning data connection switch failed several times.
I've tried to wipe everything, re-flash Mintberry and even to flash JVU stock with Odin, but I still can't switch on my data connection.
I can't even see any icon on the status bar.
Any idea? Is my phone broken?

Hmm this is strange, so you turned data on but theres no symbol, right? Have you tried installing another kernel (maybe also applying the Kernel Cleaning Script)?
I' ve tried everything with Odin, and at the moment I have a beautiful black screen of death.
Odin cannot recognize my phone... I'm very frustrated
EDIT: Upgrading Kies'drivers, I managed to connect the phone with Odin again, so I've flashed the lastest official stock firmware to check my antennas. In the worst case, I'll be able to go to the shop for assistance without problems.
Have u tried typin ur apn maually?

Sounds like a settings issue. Never heard of anyone have this problem before - I've flashed every version of mintberry including betas.
I just had this issue
I just had this and figured out what is wrong, its a easy fix too! Just go to settings and wireless and change the access point for your mobile connection. I had 2 access points and just switched it to the other one and my data started working again!
Hope I could help
Hi guys! thank you for all these answers!
I've tried to set APN manually, to change custom ROM and custom kernels and coming back to stock too, but still no data connection icon (neither data connection itself).
At the moment, I'm on JVO, the latest official italian firmware, everything is fine but 3g data connection.
Other ideas? Shall i need of Samsung customer service (I hope no!)?
Solved...
MIUI default settings fault: SMS notification has ran out my money and my provider has blocked 3g connection.
My phone is safe!

[Q] WIFI issue!! AOKP milestone #5 T-Mobile USA TAB

Hi I've been trying to find out the problem for past 2 hours and flashed again many times and i cant seem to find the problem here.
the problem is that after a clean install of this rom AOKP milestone #5, i connect to my wifi 2.4GHz. 5GHz doenst seems to work.
it doesnt even show. now the problem is that when i reboot once than the tab cant turn the wifi back on.. so i cannot connect to the wifi.
i get black toggle not gray like the other toggle and i go into the setting menu and the tab tries to turn on the wifi but i can't.
it just says "turning wifi on" and nothing. so i flashed again and same problem occur. i dont know the problem.
so i am trying to restore the overcome 4.1 nandroid backup but it doenst work from the new CWR (MTD).
how can i flash the recovery (non MTD) that i used to have with overcome rom.
if i cant do i have to restock all the way again so i can restore to overcome nandroid backup that ive made?
if i have to restock, what do i have to do from AOKP Milestone #5 ROM (MTD)?
Thanks in Advance
Dan
You restock the same way as in overcome.
Fire up Odin and flash with repartition.
Then you can flash overcome kernel and boot to cwm recovery and restore.
Don't know about you, but my overcome Android restore always have FC after reboot to the point of unusable.
I usually have to wipe all and restore from titanium backup instead.

Do you have MAC address filtering in your wifi router ?
With aokp the Mac changed but I thought only once, not every reboot.

I read this on a thread.
Guy had mobile data switched on, and whenever he rebooted, wifi wouldn't connect.
Guy switched mobile data off, rebooted, wifi started working, then turned on data.
Try and let us know.

Sorry for reviving this thread, but your comment has helped me out. I have AOKP M1 on my i605 and wifi has been a pain. Turning mobile data off, wifi on, and mobile data back on solves the problem. Thank you!

Wifi stuck at "obtaining IP address" - Stock LPY

I am on rooted stock LPY. I noticed that whenever I try to connect to wifi it says connecting then stuck at obtaining ip address and then disconnected. I have tried more than one router and I am getting the same results. I have googled this and one solution is to have a static ip address. The problem is that this setting is no longer available in ICS. Any idea how to fix this without wiping (I am too afraid to wipe given all the fuss about it).

Did you flash the LPY Rom with or without full wipe? That might be the cause.
You can flash a new modem and see if it's fixed. I can't think of anything else...
Experiment with frequency band under advanced wifi settings.

When i was on ICS i had the same issue.
This is what made it work for me:
- remove network from device, disable wifi and turn off device
- turn off internet modem(if you have any) and router, wait at least 2 min.
- turn on modem and router
- turn on device, enable wifi and connect to network
Hope it works out for you

With wifi disabled, if you have root, go to /data/misc/dhcp/ and delete all 3 files there.
I had problems on LPY where wifi would connect but ip address wouldn't get assigned.
Deleting the 3 files in /data/misc/dhcp/ fixed it for me. No probs since
Re-flash with wifi off, make the sincronization with google on 3g and then turn on wi-fi connection

I gathered all my courage and flashed a pre rooted GBrom via pc Odin, no wipes, no cleaning, no nothing . once back on GB i only performed one hard reset and felt confident enough to flash CWM back on it. I would give you the link, but am on my phone right now and can't find it, but the rom is in Bodivas thread around here.
It worked out well for me, but as you probably know...no garantuees.
Btw, sorry to see your wifi still not working

Hmm. Those 3/4 files should get recreated if DHCP is working properly on your phone.
Perhaps you phone is missing stuff in /system/etc/dhcpcd/?
Another thing just popped into my mind - did you restore your Wifi Access point details via Titanium Backup? I think that may have been an issue for me too on LPY... don't restore is best.
Or just downgrade to GB, full wipe and flash LPF
Do you have soundhound or dolphin browser hd installed?

I'm on LPY too. When I'm at office I have no issues with wifi connection but when I'm back home I start to have issues. It shows connected and I get no error or disconnected messages what so ever. But device looses wifi connection short time after connected. I check wifi connection on laptop and there is no problem but on my Note even though it shows connected I have no connection. Turning wifi off/on fixes it sometimes but most if the time it doesn't.

Finally ... wifi working as it should

Just flashed / rooted ZSLPF ICS following Dr. Ketan's guide and now I have wifi again . Having read so many posts about this, it would appear that the wifi issue has something to do with the CF-Root kerenal. Thanks buddy

The 3G works fine on pac?
However, you can try to flash the boot.img in fastboot and see.
And, what's your problem with the recovery?

I am having the same problem too. Was previously on trickdroid. Flashed Revolt ROM and my wifi wasnt connecting to my home network. It could detect, prompted for the network password but after that it just wouldnt connect. So i looked deeper in the phone's information and discovered that my phone's IP address was in a different IP address range. It was 10.x.x.x and my home router was 192.x.x.x. My sister's S4 had no wifi problems (unrooted) and hers was 192.x.x.x. So now I'm trying to set my HTC One's IP address to 192.x.x.x. Still trying to figure a way out though. Hopefully it will work. Give it a try!
