[Q] No 3G or 2G Icon/not able to Use Packet Data (GPRS) with Correct/Working Apn's

Guys,
I just bought my self a Galaxy S i9000 (16GB) and a BSNL (3G) Sim card.
Now Both Work great ie. i am getting good cell range.
Calls and Sms are working perfectly but the issue here is that the phone is not showing wether it is on 2G or 3G or wether it is using EDGE/GPRS/3G
And also i am not able to use packet data
i tried every combination in the book for configuring the Apn's and acess points but still no luck the phone just dosen't connect to the internet via GPRS and even that "E" icon dosent show up!!
Tried Settings>>Wireless and network>>Mobile networks and change Network mode to GSM/WCDMA(auto mode)
And also i dont have the option "Use packet data" under "Mobile networks"?
i just cant understad why the phone doest acess the internet with GPRS when it does acess the internet beautifuly over WIFI
I am running 2.1 and the latest Firmware Version
(just as it came out of the box and i haven't installed any lag fixes)
available here in INDIA!
(well dont know when we here are gona get the FROYO update via Kies )
Please help me get this phone connected to the internet via Packet Data

The "Use packet data" option exists in only 2.2, not in 2.1
As far as ur internet connectivity problems are concerned, I think BSNL requires around 72 hours to activate the 2G/3G services on any phone. So I assume ur net has started working by now!

On my last visit to India I used BSNL too and I remember that I had to buy a special recharge voucher in order to get the data service activated. It didn't work out of the box. Further the 3g settings were different from the standard ones that BSNL uses.

mobile data aka packet data connection

hi is their any one who can help me connect to internet via data connection. im on a cuatom rom and cant connect my note to the internet when im not at home and not using wifi. really cant connect via packet data unless otherwise there is a wofo connection.

You are not giving much information so the answer will have to be general:
did you subscribe to a mobile data contract with your provider ?
if this is the case, then enter the right credentials in your mobile data connection config.

yes im currently applied. when i upgraded my phone from ics to jb that was the time i cant connect to internet via packet data

Happened to me as well.
Check your settings for the data connection eg. Accesspoint name, username password etc...JB may have overwritten those

changed sim card. seems like my old sim cars doesnt work for a packet data connwction on jb. donno why but now it all works with the new sim card

[Q] WIFI connections - solved

I can connect and use wifi at home so I know my wifi will work on my phone. But at school if I try to connect it connects then immediately turns off wifi on the phone. I have an Xperia TL running on AT&T. Does anyone know what I can do?

We need more info about the network you want to connect to. First step is to select the right settings and password for the network.

I know I am entering the correct password. It is a Cisco wireless access point and it uses WEP security. I have connected numerous phones and other devices to this network. This is the first time I have had trouble connecting.

I have solved my own problem. I did a repair using PC Companion and everything works as it should now.

Wifi conection Problem

Hey Guys
today i received my sony xz - put sim in and start - so far so good. now i want to connect to my wifi. put in the pw. then authorisation and getting ip adress and connect. but hold on. no wifi?
it always want to connect but everytime it gets it´s ip, the phone do it again... after a while where is a info on the wifi 'poor connection'
so i cant connect to wifi
wifi has full strength (sitting next to it)
i try´d to google it, but nothing helps. no mac adressfilter, passwordfree connect, change channel, disable enable modem/router/phone, repair phone via sony software.
i have the latest firmware(10.3.1.A.0.244). anybody n idea?
maybe root and another cf will help?

[Q] [A] Use mobile data instead while connected to wifi network?

Hi..
Forgive my silly question. Any way possible for xperia z to use mobile data instead wifi while connected to any wifi network?
I use to connected to wifi network with no internet access, just for transfering data.. While i want to still use internet from my mobile network. It keep act like search data through wifi network (of course it can't).. So, is there any way to force my phone to use mobile data instead wifi?

i just bought a wireless flash drive and i realized i cant use mobile data while using it so i cant use internet while sharing/streaming data from my drive.
please, please! if you ve found a solution, please let me know

Technically phone should support multi-path transport system, but phones work in the way to minimize data usage, so wifi have priority whenever ist connected.
It could be possible to make it work with custom kernel, but its just too messed up i think...
BUT
There is an app from xda:

that technically enable both connections, but it need root, and it doesnt support ftp/p2p
Also I personally didnt use it so you should read this topic before using it, and after that just check if it work for you.
