Arabic support - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it possible to get arabic characters to show propely connected on the Note? I badly need it!

Yes you can, flash the United Arab Emirates stock image from the stock list in the dev forum, this will even give you a nice arabic swype keyboard, if you are running a custom rom, i believe there is a zip installer that you can use through CWM to give you arabic support, do a search for it, im sure you ll find it.

[Question] XXKB3 support Chinese?

I can't find where is the XXKB3 in Samfirmware.com. Is is a custom ROM? I am from Hong Kong and I am wondering if the FW XXKB3 support Chinese.
Also, I would like to ask, is that really necessary to flash XXKB3 ROM in order to use some theme that claimed to be XXKB3 ONLY as an requirement. How about directly use the theme as I am now using Asian ROM DDKB2?

If you install DioPen Chinese IME, it will work. I have this firmware and DioPen Chinese IME installed. It works perfectly.
or you flash I9003ZTKC1_ZZTKC1, taiwanese FW with chinese/english support
Do you guys have recording function for phone conversation in the stock phone application. I heard chinese rom have those features built in to the stock rom.

i know im late but i figured i owe an answer... nope, not available in stock phone app (tried altogether 3 chinese/taiwan/HK roms and none had the feature)
You can still read chinese or 'write' chinese with the European ROM. Only thing missing is the chinese interface (menu, etc) which ain't a big deal tbh.
I have the same problem, I am running a european stock rom, I can read, type chinese, but for sms, other people can not receive chinese character, it all become square or others symbol...

that does NOT stem from your phone but from the receivers phone. if they dont have chinese support, it shows as squares, happens with ALL phones and OS's.

[Q] How to add Chinese language display in Galaxy note

I have recently purchase the Galaxy Note N7000 in the UK, but unfortunately the handset did not come in chinese display, what can I do to make my device to be able to display and type in chinese? Is it possible to flashing the ROM with the Hong Kong stock ROM ? Or any other alternative ways to do it ?
My device version
PDA: N7000XXKKA
PHONE:N7000XXKK5
CSC:N7000XEUKK3
if u want chinese in your menus then u need to flash a rom with chinese support.
However if you jusut want to write chinese you can just install a keyboard (ie. touchpal) from the market and you should be able to after downloading the chinese plugins.
hope this helped
Do u mean I can flash the ROM with the Hong Kong Official ROMS then I will be able to make all the menu and interfaces into chinese?
So I can flash the UK Rom to hk official Rom with no problem ?( as long as i follow the steps ?)
Is it I should use odin to do it?
Thanks so much for advice
you can also transport the chinese input apk and library files to any custom rom. just copy these files over from any stock Hong Kong
/system/app/diopenchineseIME.apk
/system/lib/libdhwrcn.so
/system/lib/libdwpcn.so
/system/lib/libhangulcore.so
/system/lib/libkeyboardcn.so
I think flashing the ROM witb PC Odin is much faster. If you want simplified Chinese flash the PRC ROM.
Of you like Traditional Chinese flash the HK ROM.
Let us confuse the carriers and Samsung!

The simplest thing I recommend the Go keyboard as I'm using the Go launcher. I don't speak or read Chinese, but wife kids and friends all are OK with Go...including using fingers to draw characters onsceen. I don't want to futz with APK's every time I do a new ROM...too invasive from my POV.
I'm not sure flashing any HK/Chinese rom would be wise as the official Chinese roms will be built for the Chinese version of the Note, the i9228, not the European/International i7000 Note that you own.
I've read about people soft bricking their i9228's by flashing an i7000 rom so I guess the other way round would do the same.
I think hocgwai's solution would be the safest.
flash with the chinese rom
Go ahead and flash it baby!!
If whatever you try it doesn't work.
flash back original rom if it doesn't work.
if it still doesn't work, send it back to Samsung dealer for servicing!!
no big deal! samsung servicing is not as crappy as HTC, i hope!
just wondering did you get it working?
i also want to install Chinese on the galaxy note...
also anyone got the files or rom that i need to make this work?
thanks
Singapore and Malaysia firmware support Chinese display and input on the Samsung Galaxy Note.
Yours Sincerely

Hai, bro if you could explain more detail how to put these file inside custom rom such as Alliance Rom Galaxy Note 1. If you have 'Malay/Indonesia' language would better for me to solve my problem. I am hesitance to know more about this step. Thanks in advance.

Swype from Austrian firmware?

Just got my 7.7 and really happy so far. My device is from Egypt as far as I can tell. Thus the onboard Swype is loaded with Arabic language pack which is of no use for me, but I could use the German version of Swype that is supposed to come with the Austrian firmware. Anybody here that can provide that apk...don't want to root and change the firmware just for a keyboard app
Thanks!

Rooted my tab anyways and now going to install the Austrian firmware...that's the ...AUT.exe right? At least AUT is the country code for Austria ;-)

ATO is austrian
AUT is switzerland

hm are you 100% sure? "AUT" is the official ISO-3166 code for "Austria" (link to wikipedia.org)
...Switzerland should be "CHE" (according to ISO-3166-3), no clue what "ATO" is supposed to be ;-)
But German should be in the AUT firmware as well even if its Switzerland, right? Do you know if they just have plain German-Germany or really Austrian or Swiss German in Swype?
Thanks for hanging, great job with the firmware and comprehensive post for us 7.7 owner! ;-)
Just take a look on this Samsung Country CSC code reference
And i got on my device ATO=Austrian Firmware thats why i attached the swype.apk ^^
alright...I will give the Swiss (= ...AUT.exe) firmware a try and install it on my Egyptian 3G 7.7 using mobile odin...just gotta love globalization ;-)
You need to delete or rename the app and a lib file (Swype.app & libcoreswype.so, I seem to remember) then join the beta program, download and run the installer. Instructions are on the Swype forums somewhere.

[Q] I really need help

Dear all
i have a question concerning the galaxy note
my galaxy note is now ICS 4.0.3 , for Egypt
my question is
if i download in install using odin the latest firmware from Germany " the new firmware released on September", will i be able to read and write in Arabic or not, i will need the interface language to be in English , i will need two keyboards English and Arabic.
i am waiting for your reply as i really want to update
first thing root and make efs backup, the rest I dont know.
I do know there are alternative keyboards that have arrabic like swiftkey. Your Os can be set to English on German rom, then use that keyboard and your set
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
Thanks for your fast reply
i contacted samsung service center here in Egypt and they told me if i rooted or flashed i will be out of warranty
so is it possible to update to the new german version using Kies without flashing
for example by changing the CsC code to DBT
by the way i cant find DBT in my CsC list i just find arabic codes
regards
Ofcourse yes.You can keep the interface language to be english and change the keyboard to arabic
well its your choice, efs can be messed up fast in in no time you might find yourself without emei/product code. An efs backup is the only way to secure that.
edit: I think its not possible by just changing csc. Usually for ota kies updatability you need pcode also, I think, which will be the egypt one now.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
I think as long as you are on the stock rom,you dont lose your warranty
Even though you lose the warranty,by flashing back the egypt rom,you can gain your warranty
When you go to a service center, they will check the flash counter, you need to reset it and you will be under warranty

[Q] How to change the language to Thai? (CSC?)

Hi there
I'm sorry to ask such a silly question:
I bought a S3 Mini in Thailand and the guys there wanted to do "something" to enable Thai language. I said I can do it by myself.
Now I wanted to change the language to Thai, but it's not there.
Then I tried to find a stock rom on samfirmware for South East Asia (which would include the Thai language). But there was no ROM for this phone.
Then I came up with the idea to change the CSC to Thailand. But I worry to do this because I never did before and I don't know if after changing the CSC I will be able to download a ROM on Kies with the Thai language.
Any help would be very appreciated.
Edit: According to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1684194 I can change the languages.xml inside the CSC folder, to add the TH (Thai) language code. After that I should be able to see it in the Android Languages settings list. I'll try to root it with this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2030282 and try it out. Reporting back here when I have any news. Still if someone knows for sure what's the right way, I'd appreciate a reply
Tried this Vietnam firmware?
Its 4.1.2 update
