I have the infuse, looking to possibly trade for thrill. I know both phones have their strengths and weaknesses...but I was hoping to catch someone that has owned both phones or used both and what you like more about whichever one.
Also, I get anywhere from 22-30 hours per charge with my infuse, how does the thrill stack up to that, with custom roms?
thanks
any and all input is appreciated.
Thrill aint even close to that with battery life i say stay with infuse personally if i could trade for infuse i would

I have had both as well. And i agree with above post about battery life. Thats on the stock battery. There is an available 1800mah battery thats the same size as the current one, and lasts considerably longer. I have both. I use my phone pretty heavily throughout the day. Email, music listening, browsing the web and checking my ebay through ebay app a lot, as well as xda, and craigslist. On the extended battery, i can make it through the day till 9pm on really heavy days, and longer if i didn't touch my phone as much. Thats taking it off the charger at 6am. But one thing i will say about the thrill IMO ofcourse, is that it handles games much more fluidly and better. When i had the infuse, i would get hiccups here and there sometimes. One game i got hiccups with was gun bros. On the thrill, the dual channel mem and dual core really work good together. And thats without OC. In summary, i believe the only thing the infuse has is the bigger screen, and from what you say, battery life. The displays are pretty much the same, but thats in the opinion of the beholder. Battery lfe on the infuse for me was not much different in my use.

Had both as well I was wishing I still had the infuse for a long time but until I put the rogers 20c on mine the battery is much better for me.
But then again that takes a little bit of know how.
Major benefit I was not expecting at all.... the screen on my thrill a million times better. Its the best looking screen next to the ips ones. Amoled is okay but if your outside alot this is the screen for you!!
The performance is much better on the thrill as well and just better overall build quality. Doesn't feel as cheap.
That's all I got to say bout that...
I agree with all the others and my wife has infuse as we speak.... that phone has a slightly bigger screen but the phone feels like plastic (you would be scared to drop it type feel.) Infuse has more internal memory (16gbs unlike thrill's 8gbs.) Like everyone else says yes LG Thrill has a TERRIBLE default battery but you can either upgrade your rom to rogers or/and get a better battery (which I did) yes it will make your phone thicker and a lil more heavier but its really worth it.

I've had both the phones. It does handle games a lot better like mentioned before, I remember playing drag race on the infuse and it would lag so much. But when I got the thrill the first thing I did was play the same game, and it ran so smooth.
Build quality is great on thrill.
4.3 screen is very good enough for me, I think 4.5 is way to big... but it differs.
I think there's more development for the infuse rather than the thrill.
Overall I prefer the thrill.

In response to myself on the original post, I did trade for the thrill and I must say its a much better phone, in my opinion, after upgrading to gingerbread.
I upgraded to rogers v20c at first, and then the stock gingerbread att dropped yesterday and this phone is silky smooth and quick.
The stock battery I only get like 12-14 hours with use, but I have a couple batteries ordered (a stock size 1860 mah, and a 3500 big mah).
The screen is incredible on this phone.
Let me know how the batteries work out for ya. I'm glad I didn't trade my thrill to you even though I definitely thought about it!

hi
i was planning on a new phone yes i do know the S2 & Sensation but they are quite costly in my country this one is quite well prices
can u guys give me ur experience and advise on buying the same
note : presently using a galaxy 3(I5801)
& Htc tattoo wife's using this(running 2.3.3)
thanks in advance

Well it's a pretty fast phone, I use it since Tuesday and I can say i'm very satisfied from it.
P.S I was an iPhone user.
The Current stock roms isn't 100% perfect.
But the new ones do make this phone perfect.
If you play with this phone and HTC Sensation you will think and feel that the O2X is faster.
Compared with SG2 they feel the same.

hi
and the price of this phone in my country is cool 4k less than the other two(i mean indian rupees)
thanks for ur very nice info
Well, you will feel that the sgs2 is faster and smother but that just because it is using gingerbread. When O2X updated to gingerbread, it should be on equal.
But the sgs2 do have a bigger rom but whatever O2X has it's enough for daily usage.

With me being a software whore, installing all kinds of crap, games, software, trying out one piece of crap after another without actually deleting anything it still feels pretty "snappy" after a while
I'm on stock ROM, only rooted and flashed baseband 0502..
I can live with the phone as is, but boy do i look forward to an upgrade thats gonna fix the craxy battery issue (sometimes my phone (with normal use) can run 8-10 hours, another day it can run for one hole day ( 8 in the morning to mid day the day after).. so its not consistent..
The reboot proble is not that big an issue for me anymore (one reboot last week, no BSOD)
I would, considering the price in Norway, still buy this over the Galaxy S2
It feels nice.. good built, camera is a big plus, screen is good, overall i think the phone is a winner!
-TES
Must say this is a brilliant phone, just install cm7 its very stable now, been using it for 2 days and its miles better than the stock rom. Well worth the money i paid £330GBP for it. Worth every penny
SGSII Might be a tad faster (as in smoother) in rendering Webpages, but the Tegra2 gets better optimized Tegra Apps. The Samsung Exynos seems to have many issues according to Market reviews.
Sensation seems to have worse camera quality.
I like the LG O2X design MUCH better than both of the other phones, SGSII having this fugly button and Sensation having this ugly round tricolor back.
O2X has backlight bleeding in many (most?) shipped phones.
SGSII also seems to have display issues - yellowish on one side, blueish on the other.
Best bang for the buck is surely O2X.
I'm planning on getting this phone and I have a few questions...
Is there an improvement in browser flash performance with updates because its quite crappy over the GSII and GS plus(youtube.com/watch?v=CCUkYyfBx4w)?
Is there improvement in camera performance because (again) its quite worse than the GSII - both having a resolution of 8mp?
I'm asking this because these are mainly software "issues" and most of the time manufacturers don't give a **** about them, although it would make the customers freaking happy
If you have 2 times more money to waste on GS2 do it i bought this on for 300 Euros and GS 2 cost about 570, and the improvments in GS2 dont worth 270 Euros for me...

Can someone, expecially IEski, tell me where to get O2X the cheapest?
It's 500 € in Estonia But it does come with an HDMI cable. Nevertheless it's still a bit too expensive.
If anyone can suggest an online shop that ships to Estonia and has it at a good price?
Thx.

This phone can do everything the sgs2 can, and costs less. The sgs2 can't do all the stuff the lg o2x does (tegra game play, full hdmi mirror).
Worth the occasional reboot, which I mostly avoid by removing the SD card.
I got my O2x a few days ago and I am super pleased with it!!!
Not a single reboot or glitch running on MCR F17, it has exceeded my expectations by leaps and bounds. The build quality and screen are top notch as well!

Hi Haree,
Sorry for the late reply! Got it for 25,500/- with bill at National market. Has HDMI cable included. Its 2 months old today, but I don't know the current price. May have gone up with sgs2 out of stock. Good thumbrule is flipkart price minus 1000/-.
I see this phone has got good response in Singapore and Malaysia, (lowyat.net, vrzone.net, hardwarezone.com forums) where the users are more tech savvy.
At first I was very dissapointed with the phone. The LG customized launcher was absolutely not showcasing the hardware capabilities, and the battery life was short, even after months of getting used to the phone.
When I rooted and flashed Cynanogenmod (CM7) to the phone, it was a completely different experience. First and foremost - the battery life is extremely great. It's incredible. And then - with 2.3.4 on it and all other CM7 related configurations, the phone is pretty damn fast! So - either wait for LG to fix up their ROM or install CM7, that will change pretty much everything.
My 2 cents...within the first week I had BSOD on stock and custom roms. Got a refund and havent looked back
was lucky enough to get mine couple days ahead. Quality looks great, it feels good in your hands....camera and everything seems good so far....Now to root..
Rooted mine last night using Superoneclick with no issues. Gingerbreak doesn't work, but pneuter did.
gonna try rooting mine tonight....let me see and download superoneclick
Rooted mine this afternoon... clockwork rom manager thinks it is the LG optimus V... weird...
We really need a specific forum for this phone!!!!

I had a chance to play with one today. Nice phone. But I just don't see the 3D as being anything more than a gimmick. It's a little on the thick side and doesn't offer an AMOLED. Though the LCD it has is certainly fine.
For the price...$450, one really can't go too wrong with it...unless the Infuse came down to that price point.
Just got my hand on it...stoood in line for 2.5 hrs to get it. so far so good, feels durable, screen is nice although i wish it was AMOLED or possibly Gorilla Glass(the one thing i'll have to get over coming from the captivate and infuse)..
Hope fully 2.3.3 comes for it soon the stock 2.2 is out dated, even though ATT promised to have all 2011 phones with 2.3...../facepalm

Tell me about it. I returned my Infuse, which had superior music reproduction and an amazing SAMOLED+ display and sweet design and feel, because AT&T didn't come through on the update they promised for Aug.
The sound quaity was so good on the Infuse that I got addicted to it and am having withdrawal symptoms...lol
Would love if you post a review here
Here what i think of the phone. THe previous phone I was usign was an infused so the screen doesnt compare. But is still good. I have read some people complaining about it lagging. I havent had any issue with the phone its fast and snappy to me. I caompared it with my friends atrix on gingerbread. Didnt do a quadrant. but the thrill was way faster. You will read people complaining about it being on froyo. TO be honest who the hell uses the oem roms that come on the phone. Cyanogenmod is working ona rom fro this device atleast the European version. From what I have heard the 3d is actually working. The device does have 512mn or ram but the clock speed on it faster then any other devices that have 1 gig or ram. TO be honest I dont need pc specs on a phone. i have a laptop for that. I wont be compiling kernals on my phone Thats just what i think for 30 bucks from costco how can you go wrong. I would just try it for yourself caus eyou may like it or you may not. ust dont go off of what the reviews are saying
tethering
I rooted my new LG thrill today with superoneclick...no problems how do I tether it to my computer so I can use it as a wireless hotspot?
It looks really good enjoy it
Using it for a couple of days now... have to say... other then the battery life... (getting a 1980mah in the mail soon) i dont have any complaints.... real quick... and the thing im most impressed with which i wasnt excpecting was the lcd panel... now a friend of mine has the infuse and that thing is the biznis!!! Got the phone Sunday and the battery is pretty bad, went to sleep battery was pretty low when I woke up. Other than that, no problems with this phone yet, the 3D technology needs to be improved but, that's what early adopters get sometimes. Give it a couple of years the 3D will be amazing. Can't wait for CM for the Thrill to be released. It's already a snappy phone I can just imagine what it will be like with CM on it.
Love it. Coming from atrix did the tegra mod so I have the best of both worlds! Also the phones ram is dual channel so its faster then 1, 1 gig of ram! The battery sucks where did you get the 19mh one I'd love that! Then I wouldn't regret my phone switch at all!

I thought so too when I saw the commercials, but that one photo of my little girl in the store changed the game for me.
With the movie and electronics industries throwing their weight (read: money) behind 3D, it's probably not going away and won't be considered a gimmick for long.

Welcome to 4G. Its not the phone its 4G that sucks your battery. I will say this; The bionic is by FAR the best on battery life compared to all 4G phones on the market right now.
I adore it. I came from a Moto Droid that had a display that died on me, so I was waiting for this.
Yeah, the screen's pixels are a little annoying at times, but other than that its speeds are INCREDIBLE, the new motoblur or whatever it is called now isn't obtrusive (the phone is actually fast enough to run it where it is actually attractive), and best of all it feels great in the hand.
Also, the extended battery's replacement back for the phone doesn't add that much width to it, making it a really good purchase. Shame none of the cases they had in stock support the extended battery.
One thing that I think people ignore when writing about new phones is the sound quality, and many people I have called are astounded when I tell them that I'm on a cell phone. I was on the highway going 60 mph with the windows and roof open, trucks all around me, and my dad thought I was on a landline when I called him. However they made the microphone, they got it down perfectly.
Now, I *NEEDED* a phone because of work, so it isn't an option to wait for the Droid Prime or the iPhone 5. Am I happy with the Bionic? Absolutely. Would I have waited for an even better phone if I could have? Perhaps.
I feel like when phones come out, they are outdated within a few days unless it's an iPhone. Eventually you have to bite the bullet, and I think that the Bionic is the best bullet I've ever bitten into!

CM7 on the Tbolt has a toggle, but ya, I can see this as a pain on this phone. However, if you are using 4G - try juice defender. When the screen is off it will turn off data (and you can have your data turn on however often you wish to check for new data etc).
Highly recommend it.
I had to charge my phone yesterday twice. I went about 1.6hrs on the original charge then fully charged it. With heavy use it needed a charge around bedtime(2130). Today I got it off the charger at 0530 and used it heavy for about 40 mins, then barely touched it and it's at 70%. I have juice defender and it set to CDMA only. I do not like the battery life so far but I has ATK on it. I took it off and will see how it goes. I think the task killer is more harm then good.
Does anyone know the battery life with 4G turned off?
No 4G at all in my state yet, but our area should be getting it this year.

Yeah and I would imagine there is a lot of bloat that can be removed with custom ROM's or tweaking CPU settings.
//oops.. double post.
I am so temped to say forget and go back to old faithful.... Ip4. I can go like two entire days on a single charge. I admit I have never used an android phone without the ATK. Maybe that's my problem.....
I like it coming from two Htc phones. Im only having an issue with the vibrate sounding really annoying like its broken and the battery only dropping by the 10's. It dropped from 100 to 90 then to 80%. Nothing in between. Im on an extended battery and seems to be doing okay so far.

Myself as well. My only complaint is that with the extended battery it makes it feel like I'm holding a brick when compared to regular battery, but that's a small complaint considering how well the battery performs... It's just how thin the device is when compared to other LTE devices with regular battery...
Rooted in seconds and im really happy with it now. Just make sure you update the bb binary once rooted. It makes a hell of a difference imo

I love my Thrill!! I've had no problems. I was suppose to get the Infuse, but saw the Thrill and had to have it. Specially since it was way cheaper. I liked the screen of the Infuse, but when I saw how big the Otter Box for it was, it helped me make my final decision on the fuse. That thing would've looked like a laptop on my hip it was so big. I've had my Thrill since a week since it first came out and I've had no problem with it other than the battery life. But I just rooted it and installed the Doomed Froyo Slim ROM and the battery lasts 3X longer than it did before.

I think its a good upgrade. Its been slow to start from a dev standpoint due to the outdated Froyo (which is most likely the culprit of the horrible battery life). GB is due out soon for our sister phone the O3D this month and should be easily ported. The Thrill will get GB from ATT but the question is when. And I can only assume we'll see ICS in the not to distant future in one form or another.

My opinion: Jump. While I've not tried the GS2, I had a GS1. Other than Voodoo sound, it was pretty rubbish, and I definitely don't trust Samsung to make a smartphone anymore.
Also, Touchwiz looks like poo and runs like it too. Sense is a bit fat, but you get a fully functioning and fully integrated experience.
That all depends....
Do you want an over-saturated, painful to look at, cartoonish display with a bad UI?
Or a higher res, vivid, true color display, decent UI.... and LTE?
See my sig.

Only advantage the vivid has is LTE, but you can get the skyrocket.

I'd consider the display a HUGE advantage.... bigger than LTE even.
the SGSII display is so bad I would have returned mine whether the Vivid was released or not. And that's saying something considering i was using a Dell Streak with a shattered screen previous to my SGSII.
And the Skyrocket is a joke...
It takes the already bad screen in the SGSII, and destroys the pixel density by supersizing it without bumping the resolution.

I agree. I didn't care much for the Skyrocket.
So, is it safe to say now that the Vivid will probably end up with MIUI and/or ICS eventually?
Absolutely. It's on HTC's official "Will get ICS" list, which makes AOSP/custom ICS even easier.
How's the quality of the phone itself? As in, how does it feel in hand? My local AT&T store didn't have it and the Best Buy near me that does would not open a box for me to look at so I haven't even held it yet.

Well, have a free "thanks", I missed the quote button.
It feels pretty solid. It's definitely on the heavier side as compared with Samsung phones, but I honestly don't really notice. Far more durable than my Galaxy S Captivate, and less finicky than the Desire HD line.

I went from sgsII to Vivid and at first I was very worried I would hate the weight....
BUT after a week or so, at most, I didn't even notice and now, lighter phones like the sgsII and skyrocket feel extremely cheap.
Honestly the build quality of this phone is 2nd to only the iPhone 4 for quality feeling to me... Certainly a huge step above the flimsy plastic Samsung uses.

I had the GSII and the Skyrocket before my vivid. I have to say the dealbreaker for me with the Sammy's was Touchwiz. I hate it. I mean I hate it with a passion. All round the Vivid is more solid. It feels like it will last 2 years if need be.
You should ask this question in the SGS II section, you would get the opposite answers.
You could ask in almost any forum, and always get a response of the forum you are in is better. I would bet even people in the Atrix 2 forum would say that mid range phone is better than both these high end phones.
You can cancel your upgrade, then you have 30 days to decide again. If you just swap phones, the clock doesn't start over, and you only get a few days to decide how you want to spend the next 18 months.

I may end up trying the Vivid for a couple days to see how I like it. Otherwise, I'll wait on the upgrade.
And I agree, I'm probably asking for some biased responses here but thought I might find somebody who has had both phones that could help.

So since you both had both phones, can you shed any light on differences in speed and battery life between the 2 or is it really even noticeable?

Jesus, it's hilarious when people pull the "LOL, all phones have better build quality then Samsung phones." No, they all have worse, what you have is better build feel.
Drop your vivid from a 4 foot drop, I dare you, and watch it shatter into a million pieces and dent the **** out of your phone.
Me, I've dropped my skyrocket on concrete countless times, no shattered screen (gorilla glass) and the "flimsy" plastic your talking about, I have one minor scratch.
But, at least it's not as bad as the iOS fanboys and their all glass phone, can't drop that from a 6 inch drop without shattering the back.

I'm going to assume you mean Skyrocket and SGS II.
The SGS II has the powerful Exynos, so obviously in terms of raw horsepower, it obliterates ALL phones.
The skyrocket has an LTE radio, but honestly, the battery drain is no different then my Infuse, which had AMAZING battery life.
Now that the LTE radio and HSPA+ radio are the same radio (not 2 seperate radios like on VZW's LTE phones and the Vivid), it saves power as it can actually turn off the data when not needed.
It comes down to personal preference. Trying them out is key. Ever tried Samsung touchwiz? Compare it to HTC Sense and there is a huge difference. I'm not alone when I say Sense is the most polished and seamless UI on the market. It integrates many things that other UIs do not. The sheer amount of widgets sense has is pretty amazing too. All of which have a 3d effect when scrolling between screens.
If you will be heavily modding, I say go HTC. Otherwise you will get bored with touchwiz and aosp ROMs, there's hardly even a difference between the two. With HTC you will have a wide variety of sense and aosp roms.

I've used both- personally owning a vivid, and helping my friend with his gs2, rooting and romming it with cm7 for him.
The GS2 is extremely light, too light for me but I don't think it's truly a negative. His battery lasts longer than mine, however mine is faster. The camera boots faster and overall using the software feels solid. That is with the vivid locked and slowed down by sense to some extent.
One thing of note that no one states about the galaxy s 2. If you want to shoot 1080p video, it forces the sensor to zoom in almost all the way. If you don't believe me- http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-1085142.html
The vivid does not zoom in at all, making for full sized 1080p footage. I prefer the screen IMMENSELY on the vivid, however I think the gorilla glass is a huge plus on the s2.
Really you need to weigh out what's important to you as both have positives and negatives. After using his galaxy s2 I was extremely happy that I decided to upgrade to the vivid.

Battery-wise the Samsung wins, hands down... That's the vivds only weak spot.
Speed, in benchmarks the vjvid gets slaughtered... BUT in reality, its the smoothest phone I've ever used.... So if there is a speed difference it may exist with some graphics intensive games, but is irrelevant in my normal use.
And to answer the question of dropping the vivid... That's what a case is for.... The difference is by the time you put a case on the super thin super dainty sgsII, you loose any advantage of its thin profile.... While the vivid still feels like it was built to handle the zombie apocalypse.

Well, I bit the bullet today and picked up the Vivid. I have a week left of my 30 days and so far I like it. The UI does seem a bit more finished. Definitely a little bit of lag in it but I'm sure a kernel can fix that.
I do like the extra thickness of it. I feel more comfortable holding it. Much less like I'm going to drop it.
Now I have some things to learn. Can somebody point to me some good reading on how flashing, S-Off, etc all work on the HTCs? The Samsung scene is a bit different.

No S-Off yet, but we still have perm root and can flash ROMs. All in one package right here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1416836
