Beats audio for bionic - Motorola Droid Bionic

I flashed over beats audio port from that universal port from that popular post. Sorry I don't remember his name. But supposedly your supposed to copy over files to the /system folder and I did that and now I am bricked with my battery low. Soooo just a word of caution

before i flash i always make sure i have at least 60 percent..

[Q] Is there an increase volume mod available?

Howdy all,
I currently own a U.S. version of the HTC One (the AT&T version) and was wondering if there are any increase volume mods available? I know that there's the PureXAudio mod but from what I read - it's more of a clarity/sound enhancing mod and not an increase volume mod. I did install it and didn't find any improvements (that doesn't mean that there weren't any - I just couldn't hear them ). The reason why I'm posting in the HTC One international forums and not the AT&T forum is because it appears to be more development for the international variant than there is for the AT&T variant
Is there some type of file from one of the system folders on the HTC One than can be downloaded and modified in a text program? I know that there's a similar mod/method available for the international version of the GS III (I know that it's possible due to the Wolfson audio chip) and that mod has made me ENJOY listening to media on my (int) GS III . While I enjoy listening to media through the speakers on the HTC One, I don't have the same enjoyment while listening through the earphone/headset jack. I had high expectations for volume output from the HTC One through the headset port - but I've been marginally let down
I'll be willing to be a tester for a developer whose interested/willing to take a crack at this.
Thank you guys!
P.S. - I've searched the forums, posts, Google, etc. and didn't find anything related to increasing the volume for the HTC One (I saw some posts for the One X/X+ & One S, etc.)
Don't get me wrong but do you have trouble hearing? I mean as a medical condition? Because it is the loudest phone I've ever heard, I can hear even in the bus and buses here are very very loud. There's also an option which increases volume level even further when in the pocket.

No official mod yet but Theres a guy trying to figure it out here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40508683
The low boomsound volume level is purely firmware related. Initial releases were really loud then htc cut it back cause of warranty claims.
Latest base seems to be loud enough I think. 1.29.xxx.16

My one isn't louder then my cousins s3 but it was way much more clearer.

 No - I don't have trouble hearing at all - but it's more of an expectation aspect as I don't "hear" the hype regarding boomsound (pun intended). For example - I'm expecting to turn the volume up to like 50% and be quite content with that volume as opposed to having to turn it up to say 65/70% (which is around.....12 ascending steps (give or take) if the volume is all the way down).
My earphones are a pair of Klipsch S4a (I know that I need a headphone amplifier to drive anything on/over the ear wise) and most of my audio tracks are compressed to 320kbps mp3 files.
I found fauxsound and that app has been pretty useful (especially when paired with PowerAmp - I'm fairly pleased with the volume output with that combination).
I'm just quite discerning when it comes to sound quality and volume on smartphones as if this is going to be my main device for multimedia, mobile computing tasks, etc. - I want it to be up to par for my liking (especially when you have a company that ran advertisements promoting how loud the sound was and how it could 'power a concert venue' )

I do agree that the sound was/is much clearer, cleaner, and fuller sounding than any phone I've used or heard to date (save for the Galaxy Note 2 which I heard/read that the speaker on that device was/is quite loud. I can only imagine how it sounds with some of the sound mods that are available)

It could have been that by the time they released the phone for the US (I got my One back in May 2013) - that the toned down volume was baked into the firmware release for the US versions...
I haven't dabbled much with any of the international roms that are compatible for the at&t htc one variant - but I think I saw a rom or two that had some sound modifications baked in or had a kernel that was compatible with fauxsound... But I did root my phone, flashed a custom kernel, and installed fauxsound and that seems to be satisfactory after customizing my fauxsound profile to my linking...(especially when paired with PowerAmp)

I agree with Rob. The volume on my M7 is poor, often miss phone calls whilst it's in my pocket. The quality of the sound with Beats Audio on is good, but nowhere near loud, and unless in a relatively quiet room struggle to hear anything. Thought it was my phone but 2 of my mates M7's are the same.
Anyone know of mods to increase Ringtone Volume? I'm rooted with Viper 6.2.1, Sense 6 etc.

If you're phone is still under warranty - then I'd send it back to HTC and tell them that your speakers are low.... (YES I know it's a pain returning back to stock (I did it 4 times to get my phone fixed by HTC) - but it was worth it )
If that's not viable then nandroid backup your current phone and flash a stock rom and see if that fixes anything (if you're running AT&T - flash an AT&T stock ROM)
Otherwise ..... it might be worth a shot to edit the snd_soc_msm_2x_Fusion3_DMIC_xxxx (depends on what version of Android you're running. If you're running KitKat - then the file to edit is snd_soc_msm_2x_Fusion3_DMIC_SK) THIS MAY NOT WORK - BUT AGAIN IT'S WORTH A SHOT! I edited this file to increase the volume for my headphones and MAN DOES IT MAKE A DIFFERENCE (anything above 60% after my mods are TOO LOUD!!!).
(If you don't feel comfortable editing a file with a text editor - I'D SUGGEST SKIPPING THIS ALTOGETHER!)
NANDROID BACKUP YOUR PHONE first!!! And as a extra precaution - copy all of the snd_soc_msm_2x.... files and save them offline (or to the root of your internal SD card) in their original formats...
Use a file manager with root capabilities (FX, Root Explorer, Root Browser, ES File Explorer, etc.) and navigate to the following path:
/etc/snd_soc_msm/ - from there - you'll see a number of snd_soc_msm named files. Look for the one I listed above. COPY THIS FILE TO YOUR INTERNAL SD CARD AND THEN COPY THIS FILE TO YOUR COMPUTER (it's easier editing with Notepad++ then it is editing directly on the phone itself)
Use a text editing utility (Notepad++ works WELL and saves the file without adding an extension to it) and look for a section similar to the below (I didn't see any other sections with Speaker that had the RXx Digital Volume lines necessary to edit....)
SectionDevice
Name "Speaker Headset"
EnableSequence
'SLIM_0_RX Channels':0:Two
'RX3 MIX1 INP1':0:RX1
'RX3 MIX1 INP2':0:RX6
'RX5 MIX1 INP1':0:RX2
'RX5 MIX1 INP2':0:RX7
'RX4 DSM MUX':0SM_INV
'RX6 DSM MUX':0SM_INV
'RX3 Digital Volume':1:67
'RX4 Digital Volume':1:67
'RX5 Digital Volume':1:67
'RX6 Digital Volume':1:67
'LINEOUT1 Volume':1:0
'LINEOUT2 Volume':1:0
'LINEOUT3 Volume':1:0
'LINEOUT4 Volume':1:0
'HS AMP EN Switch':1:1
EndSequence
The four lines above in bold are the lines to edit. EDIT ONLY THE 1:67 values and increase them in small amounts (say go up by 2). So for example the new lines would look like this:
'RX3 Digital Volume':1:69
'RX4 Digital Volume':1:69
'RX5 Digital Volume':1:69
'RX6 Digital Volume':1:69
after changing the values save the file, copy the file (MAKE SURE IT HAS NO FILE EXTENSION) back to your internal SD card and use your (root enabled) file manager to copy the snd file back to /etc/snd_soc_msm/ folder. REBOOT YOUR PHONE for the changes to take effect and then see if your volume has increased.
I know that similar mods have worked for LG and Samsung devices (I know from experience - I followed similar posts here on XDA) so this may work for the One as well. If it doesn't - just revert the values back to the original values (or copy the original/unedited file back to the path listed above).
Hope this works out for you

[MOD] Speakerphone whistle fix + volume boost

I've reduced mic sensitivity but raised the volume and boosted other volumes as well, including the loudspeaker and earpiece volumes.
Rename the default snd file (/system/etc/snd_soc_msm) and replace it with the one contained within the first TAR attached to this post, making sure it has the same ownership and permissions applied as the renamed original, then reboot and test.
Note: If you still experience the annoying whistle during speakerphone calls with the first mod, try the second and finally the third for the more sensitive of devices.
Alternatively, you can flash the ZIP in recovery, which also enables PSM in custom ROMs and replaces the shutter/focus camera sounds with more realistic ones. The ZIP is what I flash after updating CM, hence the name. The ZIP contains the first mod of the snd file, so unpack it and replace that file with the second or third one if necessary to make your own custom flashable ZIP.
Thanks a lot for this!
Can you please exactly tell what parameters have you changed?
I'd like to know this, because in every "boosted" snd_soc_msm I think that mic is too bosted and everytime I record something with a recorder (I use the phone to record songs with my band at rehearsals) the result is always overdriven. This doesn't happen with stock ROM.
Thanks in advance for the reply.
elb0wf4ce said:
I can't post in the development section yet, so thought I'd share my own fix/workaround here. The file is smaller than the original as I've cleaned it up somewhat and removed unnecessary and inconsistant disable entries. This modified version also has higher mic volumes for video recording and boosted volumes elsewhere too.
This fix works on the latest nightly with the long-awaited kernel update. Just rename the default snd file (/system/etc/snd_soc_msm) and replace it with this one, making sure it has the same ownership and permissions applied as the original.

The mics (DEC4/6) for video recording (Camcorder Tx) have been raised from 66% to 68%. Have you tested video recording already or are you just asking in case you need to experiment?
The bottom mic (DEC6) in two sections for calls has been reduced from 66% volume to 64% to fix the whistle. Any higher and the whistle returns. Also, if the loudspeaker is set any higher than 72% the whistle returns.
Thank you very much! this done the trick!
I only tested it in audio recording. Haven't tried with video.
How is in % loudspeaker volume in stock and in your release?

The original loudspeaker volume was 68%, which was far too low for my needs. I raised all of the RX volumes from 68% to 72%. RX1 is the earpiece volume and that benefits from the boost as it can be hard to hear people in a busy town centre, even with the earpiece against your ear when the volume is only 68%. I think either CM10.1 or CM10.2 had the loudspeaker volume set at 73%, but currently the CM default is 71%.

It's a weird issue. Previous fixes that worked for other users didn't work for me, so that's why I came up with my own solution. I'm gonna try a few more things like changing ADCx values as they relate to sensitivity.
P.S. Did you reboot after replacing your default snd file?
same for me in the past all the fixes that worked for others didn't for me only fix that definitely fixed whistle for me is the one by rimmer1966 in his aosp that was also merged in omni.. he described the solution in his thread.. (disabled one mic during calls)

Only the bottom mic is used, even during speakerphone calls. Did he swap them around? Anyway, try my new mod of the default snd file from CM11 in the OP. I've reduced mic sensitivity but raised the volume. My test recordings are a bit louder and cleaner I think.
it doesn't work either.. ;(
I am now using the one from omni with carbon rom, and it seems that fixes the whistle.. but I will confirm later because sometimes the whistle comes back so I want to be sure!
btw, maybe you can start editing the omni's file to have a non-whistiling base and then try to improve volume levels?
because with the omni file for example, there is no whistle, but the volume during calls through the speaker is very very low ;(
bye!

Yes, reducing the loudspeaker volume can eliminate the whistle if the mic settings are tweaked slightly, but anything below 72% speaker volume isn't ideal for me. I did tests months ago watching streaming TV and such outside and it wasn't great below that level, so I learned to live with somewhat low mic volume instead.
Try these mods attached below. Download the one with '71' in the name first, then try the other with '70' in the name if you suffer feedback still.

I've attached the louder version you wanted to try out. I'm pretty sure you'll suffer from whistle feedback with the speaker volume at 73%, though.
at last i found some time to go back to aosp based and try your mods
now I'm on plain aosp by rimmer + your 71 mod.. everything is OK so far! good speaker volume and no whistle
in the past i had the whistle coming back after some time so i will keep testing it and report but so far so good thank you!
I've tried Omni/CM with your mod and loudspeaker volume is good. Also, there's no whistle problem.
Unfortunately, I dunno why, but with AOSP based ROM for Xperia T, I always have problems when I record from a very high volume sources (such as disco, or concerts): the sound is so distorted that you can't hear anything. With stock ROM, no problem.

You have to unpack the .gar.gz archive with this for example. You must not rename the original. You can also copy it to sdcard, just to have a backup ?
After unpacking the .gar.gz overwrite the original snd_soc_msm with the unpacked one. Give the correct permissions (rw r r) and reboot

Must not rename the original why? It causes no issues whatsoever, or else I wouldn't have written it in the OP. By renaming the original users can make sure the ownership and permissions match.

Then you should explain it a little bit more in the OP (for example rename the original to snd_soc_msm_2x_backup to have a look at the ownership, permissions and to have a backup of that file)

Sound/Visualization Mods

So far I've tried a ported Sony Walkman apk with various old school sound mods (xLoud & Clearaudio+, Beats), then Apollo with HTK audio engine, then ViPER4Android. I can't tell if any of them worked, which usually I can tell. I think it's because the sound from the PURE's speakers is already pretty loud, and much better sounding then my original Moto X's? I used the selinux app for ViPER4Android, and HTK audio engine apparently doesn't require the selinux mode change. I'm gonna play around later with my Bluetooth headphones to see if I can notice it better. I think the speakers/drivers are pretty damn good, can't wait to see how much better they can get, being an audio enthusiast. Thoughts, input, ideas?:silly:
Edit: I plan on adding the "known" working music mods/apk's/etc.....
mixer_paths.xml VOLUME BOOST
XTREMEMusic
Xperia Z3 WALKMAN and MODS
ViPER4Android
HTK audio engine
SONY graphics
Tried using viper on stock and it sounded god awful. It didnt improve the sound one bit and instead made it sound super tinny to where some songs would hurt my ears. It did work on AICP though, but its still to buggy for me to use as a daily.

Ok..... I was able to increase the volume by editing the mixer_paths.xml similar to the way it's listed on the net everywhere. Only tested the phone speakers and bluetooth, not headphones. Was kinda scared so I only increased everything by "2". That was noticeable and good enough for now.
1. Using your favorite file explore go to = system/etc/mixer_paths.xml
2. Increase the highlighted area parameters in the pic below. I increased everything by only ''2''.
GO IN SMALL STEPS. I DON"T KNOW WHICH PARAMETER IS WHAT SPEAKER..... OR WHEN IT WILL BREAK SOMETHING!!
I WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR BLOWING YOUR SPEAKERS OR EARDRUMS!!

Do you mean that V4A works for you fine even when NEON is no? I haven't tested it extensively because I gave up once seeing the "No" hehe. I'll give it a try now and see whether V4A is really working. I do think however, that XtremeMusic Mod is working, my bluetooth buds sounds much better than before I flashed them. So even if V4A is not working, I can just wait for them to find a fix.

So the sound enhancement we can hear is from the first 2 mods only. I tried increasing/decreasing bass in V4A and there was no audible difference.
is anyone able to get walkman working on stock? It seems to bootloop in the presence of lucky patcher.
UPDATE: I'm able to get the standalone 9.0.2A to work, but not the 3.5 Z3 package

I was having the same issue but managed to get it to start working.
Steps I took:
* Uninstall V4A Drivers
* Reboot to recovery
* Re-install XtremeMusic
* WIPE CACHE/DALVIK
* Re-install V4A and drivers (mine got uninstalled in the process of flashing XM)
* Reboot
* Set SELinux to Permissive
* Play some music and open V4A to verify V4A is working (I have mine set to Compatible and Forced)
* Open XM and turn on
Hopefully this works for anyone else having issues as well. Relatively simple fix but it worked for me.
Been using this Viper, Atmos, Beats installer for the last few weeks and it's fantastic. Developer is actively developing with a new version nearly every day (at this point mostly small tweaks to increase compatibility across devices). I'm on the latest version (3.7) with no problems. Wipe dalvik and cache, flash, reboot.

I have edited the lines that you have in your screenshot and I haven't heard an increase in my headphones nor speakers at all. Were/are there any other lines that need to be edited in the mixer_paths.xml file (such as the section beginning with '<path name="headphones">'?
Do you have any recommended values that you changed yours to in order to hear a difference? Thanks!

I honestly was copying a mod from a Nexus device and I think I was tricking myself into noticing a volume increase. :silly:

Boost Output Volume on 6.0

If youre like me and you like listening to your music with good headphones and want to feel that bass rumble in your head, you might have noticed that with the update to 6.0 (In my case to B565) the output volume might have gone down considerably and that now the max volume isnt just enough to make you eargasm. So i researched a lot and found out that the max volume settings are set in some .xml files located in /etc and /system/etc but the thing is that with huawei phones we dont just have to edit a single .xml file to raise our max volume, we have to edit a whole crap ton of them depending on our region, vendor, model etc.... So instead of having to open all those files and edit just the correct string, i found out that AlsaMixer (Available on google play) works just fine with out devices!! I also found out that the max output on 6.0 is stuck at 80% dont know why.
So, to get your 20% of max volume up, all you have to do is open AlsaMixer (or all those other .xml files if you like doing things the hard way ) and edit the lines:
-HISSC_SMT_HSL_GAIN (this is left headphone gain)
-HISSC_SMT_HSR_GAIN (this is right headphone gain)
Their default value will be 12, just go ahead and set that value to 15 which is the max value and enjoy your new volume
NOTE: There are tons of other strings you can edit to increase output of speaker, earpiece, etc...etc... but since I didnt need to increase these I didnt take the time to find out their variables, but if youre interested on increasing the speaker volume just open the .xml files and go to speaker and find the gain variable and change it with Alsa.
Hope I made your day

You might be able to do that with Tasker or a similar app. ALSA is only in charge of the sound.
tested and working good. only thing i noticed is that after i modify the value it wont save for the next time i use the player so i have to edit and apply again.
really thanks for sharing

So looking into AlsaMixer, this is an app for a rooted device. Is there any alternative methods? I just got my phone finally back up and going again after an IMEI loss and am a little scared to do anything further in the system like that.
Also the fact that the description on AlsaMixer doesn't say anything about supporting MM... Has the had any issues for you?

I dont think there are any other *effective* methods out there that dont imply rooting your device or something of that behaviour sorry. And yes it does support it, at least for me even though it says nothing.
Not a worry... I'll just have to build the courage up to rootmy device :/ ah well. Thanks for responding so soon

Exactly, you have to find the string for the speaker. (Be careful though because you could cause damage to the speaker)
which is the line for speaker gain?

You solved what? We already know about dolby atmos, but this is different.
Yes Dolby Atmos gets a little better sound quality than stock. But it doesnt boost output volume in any way or form. For that the only thing that works is editing the ALSA setting but for the speaker I dont know which string you have to edit because as i said im not interested in listening music through my phone speaker, i was just interested in boosting the volume from the headphones which I thought were too low. Anyhow I discourage everyone who wants to boost their speaker higher than stock, as this phones speaker sounds pretty high, even too high sometimes and you could risk damaging the speaker or braking it.

is it even possible to boost without root? i guess not. but app can probably deliver higher sound.
for root users theres usually a xml file in system/etc i can't tell which one it is since i'm first time huawei user but if u got root why not use viper4android it boosts the volume like
I would like to boost the volume only for my headphones. Which xml files should I edit? I am thinking of using a file explorer to edit the values on OP for this.
Thanks in advance.
Use the playback music controls xposed module. Its awesome and you can also change tracks using volume buttons if you like. The autoplay option is in the settings.
I've found out how to boosz permanently, I guess... System/etc/audio/hissc/mixer_paths_ALICE.xml
Open it with a text editor, and change HISSC_SMT_HSL_GAIN + HISSC_SMT_HSR_GAIN from 12 to 15.

Viper mod audio sounds HORRIBLE after rooting with SamPWND!

I'm pretty frustrated trying to figure this out. I have rooted my US Verizon - variant of the Galaxy S8 (G950U) with SamPWND.
Step 1) After root, I tried installing Viper mod. In the past with other phones, I always just installed the ARISE sound AROMA 2.94 installer as it does a lot of the work for you like installing the audio effects conf file in the right folder (/system/vendor/etc). So I ran the installer, and on next reboot, noticed Spotify Eq was using Samsung's built in SoundAlive equalizer. I forgot to freeze it first but did it anyhow in Titanium. Now spotify is using Viper. Sound quality sounds like crap.
Step 2) Factory reset and start over, this time using the method mentioned in the SamPWND thread which can be found here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/development/samsung-galaxy-s8-root-snapdragon-t3659305
- That thread points to this Viper install guide for the S8: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...laxy-s8-s8-t3596933/post72049061#post72049061
As the guide mentions, I followed the steps by first freezing SoundAlive, copying the zip's audio conf file to /system/vendor/etc, then installing viper apk. Since our bootloader is locked, as I expected, the step to install Magisk fails, so then I simply restarted and opened viper. Sound quality is still crap.
So in either case, I know that Spotify is now using Viper mod for sound eq. I even went into Samsung's audio settings in Settings and it gave me a popup to use viper. I can listen to bluetooth and while the song is playing, change the viper eq and here a difference.
I noticed by default, Viper comes with Dolby, which is ON. I always turn this to off and notice that the sound is better. Dolby seems to overload the sound for me (sounds overpowered and almost at times like it's cutting out). Still, I'm noticing that the bass is solid when mids/highs don't have much activity but gets distorted when guitar really kicks in. Mids sound muddied and tunnel - like . Highs are tinny.
Normally, Viper mod with stock eq settings with all my other phones *always* sounds better than stock. Even with the eq at default and turning off any gains or gain controls / volume normalization, sound quality is still poor.
On bluetooth (I'm using my Sennheiser momentum wireless which are upper tier), when turning off Dolby, Spotify's normalize volume setting, the quality is near where it should be. But, in my Audi with Android Auto over USB, sound continues to be really horrible...I think the bass in the car and larger speakers are pointing out the distortion more. I have to also manually set my volume before running it in the car or else the head unit sound level is too low and I have to blast the volume knob which makes it sound worse.
Any ideas? What am I missing and are you experiencing the same?
So I have a SM-G955U, and I just installed Viper4Arise. I used the latest ZIP from the official V4Arise thread and flashed it using FlashFire. Make sure to check mount /system read/write and leave reboot enabled.
Also, I used the installer to remove SoundAlive.

Thanks man.
I noticed dolby was on by default. Turned that off and also turned off normalize volume in spotify. Sound is a lot better and no longer over loaded, though I think it might need more tuning. Now I'm wondering if install method matters at all

Good to hear! Yea, I turned off volume normalization as well. I don't normally install Dolby, so I haven't had to do that one.

How are you testing sound quality? I'm fine with the sound over Bluetooth headphones (sennheiser momentum, pretty good ones). But in my Audi, over android auto using usb, the vocals are still a bit harsh. Sub is cleaner now after a ton of adjustments. Vocals still are harsh on the "s" sound. With my previous pixel phone in this car, sound was way better and didn't need so much work

You can open the status menu in the Viper4Arise app to see if it is processing, other than that, I am listening to it. I know what my Pixel sounded like with V4Ar, and it sounds the same to me. All that being said, I have to use BT to connect to the Sync in my Mustang since I only have Sync 2, which doesn't support Android Auto.
How does Android Auto work? Is the music playing from your phone, or is the car stereo controlling? I know you can connect an Android phone as a USB drive.

Yeah, processing wasn't the issue, and that's why I don't know if the install method matters. I definitely know it's doing something because I move the knobs with bluetooth stream and hear the sound act differently.
With Android Auto, I hook up my phone to the USB port built into the car. Then the phone says Android auto in black and white, and the car display shows the interface for music players, maps, etc.
When auto is up, I can't change the sound settings dynamically since the screen is black. I think if I open viper before the car and have the notification always show, I can load it...but then it's loading a separate instance of the app, not the main one.
I had to really change the bass settings on my phone *and* the car (normally don't have to) to make the bass not distort. The audi's stock sound is junk. I got a nice JL Audio amp installed and a 600W JL Audio woofer.
With the pixel, in the car, I had the bass dial in the audi set to one two notches above mid way and the treble down 4 notches. Now, with the rooted s8, I'm having to dial its bass setting down 2 notches from mid (instead of up) and instead turn up the bass knob on the JL Audio woofer just a hair. Anything else and it distorts.
Out of the box, the Pixel just sounded great to me. I don't know why the S8 is taking all this work. Even with my note 4, I didn't have this issue of having to tweak the hell out of it.
