All changes are gone after reboot - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys,
Good day.
I have a problem with my GS Note. Any changes I made (installed apps, SMS, Call Logs) are gone after reboot. Even wifi settings. I also tried to apply the firmware update, still the issue stays.
Can you help me on this?

VoIP and sleep during calls -> no call possible

Hi folks,
thought i write down my problem since i've been trying for quite a few months now to get rid of this problem:
First of all i need to tell that i am using dutty's v4 rom. I did not have the problem at all with some other roms, but i'd like to keep on using Dutty v4 since it is very fast, non-laggy with manila3D, and rock-stable.
So here is the deal:
After setting up my VoIP account, tweaking WLAN to keep attached to the AccessPoint even when the Diamond goes into sleep - I managed to make a VoIP test call to my provider via WLAN.
Everything works just fine - until the device falls into sleep after a couple of seconds.
Annoying thing is that it perfectly works with normal GSM calls even when it goes to sleep, but not with VoIP calls.
Not that i needed the display to work during the call - but audio as well as recorded audio - which gets lost as soon as the Diamond falls into sleep. I have to reactivate the display to hear/speak with the other person. So after i've done that it takes a random time until it falls asleep again. This takes about 2-10 seconds.
I've tried everything - DiamondTweak, Advanced Config, nosleep!!.cab, registry tweaks - nothing works. After i had that problem the first time with Dutty's rom v3.4, i also wrote him while ago. He fixed this issue in v3.7. Somebody got an idea what he did?
Now that v4 is out, the problem sometimes persists. It worked fine just after flashing the rom, then it suddenly stopped working after 3 Weeks. Now i made a hard reset, first thing afterwards i did: install all the voip stuff needed and it didn't work from the beginning.
It seems to be a problem affecting certain types of roms and their configuration, but i couldn't find out by now what's the exact matter. Even if the screen would turn off, but audio keeps on just to talk to each other (if i remember right, the Diamond is a phone too? this would be awesome!
After spending days with searching for it, the ultimate solution hasn't been posted on this forum so far. So if someone knows what to do about this, even if it means to recook a rom - please tell me!
Please read what i already tried before giving answers, and thanks in advance for any real help!

[Q] Phone kinda reboots with incoming call

I upgraded my Captivate to gingerbread/talon/continuum yesterday.
That went fine and everything was hunky dory.
Phone was working fine the whole day today, incoming/outgoing calls, data.
I came home and installed Skype and thats when all hell broke loose.
Now the phone part is dead (kinda!). I can make calls fine but if I get a incoming call, the call gets disconnected after 1 ring and I get a msg popup (like some error) but I cant really see what the message is.
I also noticed that it disconnects me from ATT network when a call comes in and then after a little bit it reconnects.
I also verified this by going to the About->Status screen and then making a call.
It normally says ATT but for a couple of secs after call drop it says 'Unknown'.
What did I do to screw it up and how can I fix it?
Thanks
Glaring obvious first question -- did you try uninstalling Skype to see if that resolved anything?

Sorry, I should have added that to my first post.
Yes, I did uninstall Skype and reboot the phone, just incase, but no difference.
Still the same.
Update:
After playing around with various things for a couple of hrs, I finally gave up and reflashed Continuum.
Everything started working again.
Applied my Ti backed up config and loaded Netflix. Same problem. Dialer died with an incoming call.
I reflashed Continuum again and everything started working as expected.
I then applied my Ti backup, still everything working.
I am in the process of updating all my apps and then lets see if everything is still working.
The only thing that is missing for now is the Netflix app.
I will keep everyone updated if its the Netflix app causing the issue or its the Skype.
activemind: Keep us posted if you find a cause. I am on a Samsung Vibrant (3g) via TMOB but have been having the same issue today with a completely different rom (simply honey). This is actually about the 6th thread I've found in the past two days having this same issue on Galaxy S phones.
I have had this problem before and what caused it was restoring system data with titanium. Make sure you are only restoring apps.

[Q] Recieving duplicate sms

Yesterday i installed stock JVR rooted with latest cf-root then installed speedmod kernel. Whilst in the process of reinstalling my apps and settings i recieved 4 sms messages from two different people. I deleted these messages as soon as i had read them as i always do but since then, these messages have been repeating themselves randomly at varying intervals. I have received other sms messages since then which are not duplicated but the original 4 continue to be duplicated.
I have googled the problem and searched this forum and have found people with similar problems but no solution other than rogue apps causing the duplication.
Strangely i have had the same phone configuration installed a few days ago and i didn't have this problem.
Anybody any ideas about this please as it is driving me crazy. The obvious is to perform another clean install of something else but i am reluctant to go ahead and do this if i am still going to have this problem!
do you have multiple sms apps? is it as simple as turning the notifications off of the sms app/s you are not using?
Only thing I can think of, also maybe a modem issue, flash a modem correct to your location (this is just a shot in the dark)

[Q] No display on call receive

I looked around but couldn't find any one else having this problem.
On my Note since this morning whenever I receive a call the display is blank. No information whatsover. Also there are no buttons to answer/reject the call. I'm left with no option but to wait for the call to end and then see in the Phone application who called. Even that doesn't always work since a lot of numbers appear as Private.
Please help. I have no idea how to resolve it without rebuilding it.
Device - GT-N7000
Firmware - 2.6.3 KK5
Kernel - Franco 9
Unfortunately since I could not identify the cause of the trouble I reverted back to a really old Nandroid backup and everything was fine. Not content with being unaware of the cause of the trouble I used Titanium tool to start uninstalling apps and checking. After close to two hours of testing I realized that if the StatusBar application is crashed or disabled, the call prompt stops appearing. I can only imagine that something went wrong with the StatusBar in the configuration I had. It's a pity though since none of the apps were frozen or removed.
Anyway hope this information helps anyone else having this problem.

[Q] Phone frezes after installing a new app or updating an existing one

Hello,
I have Samsung Galaxy S 3 LTE (I9305) with Stock ROM 4.1.2 (I9305XXBME1) and since a couple of days ago, every time I update an existing app or install a new app trough Google Play or apk, the phone freezes right after the installaion is complete. It's strange that the arrows from the wifi icon are still blinking and the live wallpaper is moving, but it doesn't respond to any touches, and the only solution is restarting the phone by long pressing the power buton. Also the app I successfully installed.
I've rooted my phone with Framaroot app, and installed Superuser and ClockModRecovery.
I also have Lookout and Folder Organizer, which scan and set the new app to a folder after each install. I've uninstalled them believing they are the cause of my problems, but no luck solving the issue. I also checked the free space and I have 1.2GB free. I cleared the cache in recovery too but it didn't helped.
Does anyone have any ideeas how fix this this issue, beside a hard reset?
It would be very much appreciated.

Do a factory reset :good:
All fixed
I've retraced my steps and it seems a couple of apps didn't installed correctly (1tap cache cleaner & my font), before I've had this problem. When I open them, the phone would freeze. I've uninstalled them and the problem was fixed. I can install any app without my phone to freeze, including those 2 apps.
