I have Samsung Captivate with stock firmware, not rooted. I did upgrade when I noticed newer version of android was available, since then phone has been acting up. Battary consumption has gone up, I used to charge every other day, now I am forced to charge it every day.
Major problem I am noticing is active synch is broken. I had established connection with my work account long time before upgrade and it was working great. After upgrade, I can no longer connect to my work server. Tried deleting the account and adding it back again. IMAP works - and I can get emails, but it does not put the entries in calendar which active synch used to do.
One of the applications that I used to use frequently was TV.com which seems to be broken after the upgrade. Application does come up and allows me to select the show, but after that it just crashes. Again, it used to work perfectly and I have watched numerous shows on the phone.
Any help with these issues is greatly appreciated.

if you want to go back to froyo then download any Odin one click package for froyo and flash it in download mode through your computer
and if you want to remain in gb then flash any cm from with cwm recovery
A factory reset will almost certainly solve your battery issue, with the downside being that you will lose everything you have on your phone when you do it. This seems to be a common issue after the upgrade.
As far as active sync is concerned, I have this issue as well when both the 3g and wifi icons are showing. If both are there, it won't connect. If one or the other is there, it works fine. As far as I can tell, apps turn 3g on for location purposes, but it doesn't get turned back off properly. Foursquare was by far the biggest offender for me (so much so that I uninstalled it) but Facebook also does it to a much lesser extent. I don't know if this relates to your problem or not, but may be worth checking out.

Hello Everyone.
I'm new to the forum and this is my first post, although have been reading and applying a lot of knowledge you guys have! the forum is great!
Anyway, I have an unlocked HTC TyTN II, everything worked fine and I overall very satisfied with the device...
I made a foolish thing! I installed the "Wefi" utility and after playing with it for a little while, I didn't like the thing.. so, I decided to uninstall it.. however, now I find that my kaiser cannot longer connect automatically to my wireless networks after resume.. Now I only get the notification that it has found available wireless networks and, even though I chose not to show the message anymore, it does it every time, and when it does not, the phone doesn't connect to my WiFi.. so I need to do it manually... which is very annoying..
I already restored original registry keys under HLM\Comm\TNETW12511\Parms with no luck so far...
What can I do?... I'm still on the original WM 6.0, have not loaded any ROM changes yet..
Your help would be highly appreciated.
Thanks!

Fix for auto connect problem after removing WeFi
My name is Galia Finkelstein and I work at the support desk at WeFi. This doesn't happen anymore on the new version that's been released so for the older version we have a version fix for the problem with the automatic connection, just run this file and you should be good to go http://wefi.com/static/RestoreZCAutoConnect.exe
If I can assist with anything else please drop me a line at [email protected].
WeFi post-uninstall problems
Hi!
I am sufferring from the same problems as "obadillo" - see above.
I downloaded and installed the latest version of WeFi, but after a couple of days of use, I found that I didn't like it, and it also took up too much of my valuable "today" screen space.
After uninstalling, I found that firstly, all my previous wi-fi settings had been lost (WEP keys for my home network, my work network etc etc), and secondly, even after re-enterring these details, my device (HTC Touch UK Version - Orange UK) - (running WM6 Pro) refused to auto-connect when I switch the WiFi on.
After reading the reply from Galia (directly above my post), I downloaded and ran the executable, but found that it made no difference.
Any ideas anyone? I did email Wefi's support email address, but as yet have received no reply.
Thanks in advance!
I have also tried this fix with no success (running WM5). I have also sent an email to wefi support. No response. I would recommend you stay away from this software.
We-Fi Latest Version
I have found a (kind of) solution! I have installed the latest version of We-Fi (downloaded from their website), and then DEselected it in my Today programs. So even though its not in use, its wifi parameters still overrule the PPCs local params. This seems to allow me to switch on and off WiFi WITHOUT using the WeFi software, and it now autoconnects, even with the several wireless networks I have stored, whenever I switch WiFi on, it may take a few seconds to connect, but it now does every time.
Not the greatest "solution", but at least the problem is partially solved.
But as the good man above says, unless you're VERY sure you want to install WeFi, do not install, because you will lose ALL preexisiting WiFi connections and settings etc..
Have a good one!

Hello again, XDA devs!
I also had the problem and I'm struggling with Amir, some guy from the WeFi staff, to get the problem solved or at least recognized.
I left a complete description on my blog with links to people having problems. Here's the article (without links):
Before you consider installing WeFi on your Windows Mobile device, you might want to read this cautiously and save yourself some problems.
If you have not yet tried it, you're not missing much. Although promising, the app takes over your device. It controls your today screen, messes up your wi-fi parameters and some rarer stability issues were also reported.
First, the app needs .Net CF v.2.0, something that takes space and puts more useless crap on your device. Then the app doesn't just find networks and connect to them. Instead it overrides your wi-fi parameters and inserts its own code, thus the uninstallation problems. WeFi also takes a lot of your today screen's estate for basically nothing. How much screen space? Take a look.
Upon uninstalling it, many noticed their devices stopped automatically connecting to wireless networks, among other, rarer problems. The only known fix to the problem is to hard-reset your device and to stay the **** away from this app. We also saw a link to a .exe file somewhere but no one left feedback about it so we assume it's just as good as WeFi. You might also reinstall it, hide it and use it to take care of the wi-fi stuff or go in Settings>Connections>Wi-Fi everytime to select a network to connect to.
The developers were quick to comment about the problem and said they are working on it (see the first comment to this post). However their product page doesn't mention the problem yet and people still get caught. I left them feedback about *some* of the concerned device, assuming it's not all of them, hoping for a change. Feel free to do the same and put some pressure on these guys too.
You might also read one of those threads and see for yourself.

I'm trying to get the warning to reach all the download spots, if you guys feel like helping. This is just unacceptable, let's do something about it!
Haim head of WeFi Windows Mobile development team here
Hello all,
First, let me assure you all that we are doing our best to solve any user problem as quickly as possible.
Out of the thousands of mobile users we have, there are really only a few users who complained about this problem.
We released a fix that you can find in: http://www.wefi.com/download/client/RestoreZCAutoConnect.exe
which after executing and doing soft reset should solve the problem.
As our support team explained to “primemaps” via e-mails (sent in 08/07) this fix only works if you uninstall WeFi first.
What you are all describing is that ZeroConfig stopped auto connecting.
By avoiding the manipulation of ZeroConfig default timeouts in our next version (which should be released in about 2 weeks from now), this should not happen anymore.
If this does not help you or you have encountered any other problem – please send me an email to [email protected] and I promise a fast response,
it would help if you mentioned your WeFi version, Device model and ActiveSync version.
I hope you would all choose to install our next version and enjoy the many benefits it can bring you.
Haim
Can't work with it and can't work without it
With my HTC TyTN II I had similar problems as others have described, or maybe even worse: I could no longer work to any wireless networks. It would disconnect in less than one second every time.
I did a hard reset and that didn't work!
I also tried the "fix" the WeFi representative suggested but that didn't help at all either.
What finally helped me was Namwollem's solution: Install WeFi again and removed it from the Today screen (but kept it installed).
I can't help wonder if WeFi changes something in the ROM since a hard reset didn't even fix it.
One of these days I will have to install the ROM all over and see if it makes a difference, but I wish I could avoid that!
I hope others won't be stupid like me and install this #$%[email protected]#&$ software!
Nothing helps for my Diamond to restore Wifi signal
I have Htc diamond with newest Rom downloaded from htc.com.
My problem is that since i installed aplication WEFI(older version) and uninstalled it, i cannot see ANY available wifi networks.. I tried alot of things. I tried soft reset, hard reset, i installed WEFI (newest version) , in moments wifi works and shows available networks and i can connect, but after it doesnt work again.. I would say it shows networks only ocasionally(even if im always surrounded by at least 10 hotspots). I installed newest Rom again, i installed old official ROM, i always put mamximum performance instead of battery, and still i have no results/cannot see ANY available networks). I have a feeling like i really have a hardware problem with wifi now..But again i think whatever it is its caused by this aplication WEFI. Does anylone have any ideas? i saw some Rafael radio ROM , maybe i can try to install that?
Thanks
AArrrggghh!
This god-awful program rears its ugly head again! I have solved the problem totally now by getting a new handset!! Now I have my Touch HD (Blackstone), one thing I WILL NOT do is install this garbage!! A quick search thru the forums here will reveal a small and very useful program which will with one click switch-on WiFi (and auto connect to the signal it finds if stored in your preferred networks) and with another click will switch WiFi off! Its called AKWifiToggle, and while no where near as fancy as WeFi, IT WORKS and DOESN'T MUCK UP YOUR PHONE!!!
Hi there,
I'm using my own 6.5 (custom) Rom (Build 23004). I use an hosted exchange
server for Direct Push. Syncing is working well without any errors. But sometimes
it just looses the connection and Active Sync tells me: "Last synchronized: ...".
Then i hit Synchronize and it stays connected for some time again.
This happens to me since a long time, I can't remember if this happened to me
using 6.1 Builds. But as far as I know I didn't get this issue using the stock Rom.
This issue is really annoying as WiMo doesn't even notify me about loosing the
connection, and then even "check email every X minutes works better.
Does anyone know a solution? I don't like to get back the "ugly" stock Rom.
P.S: I read some guys using a Tilt had this issue as well, if not using the AT&T
stock Rom, but the HTC one.
Edit: In the Attachment is the Active Sync log. Disconnect was at 10:35. Don't know if this helps.

For some time now I use 6.5 ROMs together with hosted Exchange and the problem you discribe hasn't occured to me once (been using 6.5 builds for about 3 months now).
Have you contacted your hosting provider? Maybe it's a setting in Exchange that causes the disconnect.
Not yet, I didn't think it was related to them. I'll write them a mail tomorrow, too late right now. A good input.
At least I know right now the problem isn't related to wm6.5 custom Roms.
Thanks for your answer.
Alright, I'm getting closer now.
Just taping "Synchronize" doesn't reestablish the connection. The last time the
error was probably related to bad signal (more later).
Yesterday evening the connection was lost again. It happened at 20:40. I
noticed it at about eleven o'clock and see there was no data connection. I
told active sync to synchronize, but it took twice until it finally established a
data connection. Syncing didn't work either. So I tried to access the web using
Opera, but no page was loaded, it just showed me the white screen, no error
message.
So, I turned the Phone on and off in Comm Manger, then it was working again.
I checked the log and it gave this line:
#2009-07-18 21:02:26.0000 AutdPing Ping received. HR = 85020003
At 21:02, there was the first sync attemp after the sync at 20:40.
The error code 85020003 tells me there is something wrong with the data
connection (conn mgr).
In Active Sync I get the error code 0x80072efd which is also related to
network problems.
So the problem is more complex I originally thought.
I'm really confused right now. Please, somebody got an advice?
Googled a bit trying to figure out what the error code means, some state you need to uncheck the proxyserver checkbox in your advanced connection settings. Others say uncheck the use SSL connection in your activesync settings. But none seem to be a conclusive solutions for everyone, so you can a least try.
Will try to find more....
gl
Thanks for your commitment Lokatho.
I've been searching a lot, but didn't find anything that seems to be related to my problem.
I think this behaviour isn't related to Active Sync actually. It rather seems to be a
problem with the connection. All articles I found only describe errors coming from Active
Sync itself.
The weired thing is that toggling the Data Connection on/off doesn't help. My device
won't connect to the Internet any more (using 3G/GPRS). Only disabling and reenabling
the phone makes it work again. The error only appears after hours of usage up to a day
or more.
Seems like I need to return to stock rom for further investigation soon.
PS: Didn't contact my hosting provider as I'm moving to a better (cheaper, more storage, exchange 2007 instead of 2003) one right now, let's see.
Alright, I think I found the solution. I disabled HSDPA/HSUPA as my phone
only wanted to connect to my carrier data connection if this option was unused.
Now I turned it on again, my data connection was still working, and the issue
seems to be gone! Now I have to wait further (working for 2 days now). I'm
really happy now it's gone. Remember this if your running into strange
problems with your data connection
Hello,
My wife and I are both having similar issues with wifi after updating our phones to lillipop. We can connect to the wifi, but apps that require a login or apps that have an optional login are giving errors saying that there is no network (Network issues, no connection, etc.)
Apps that don't work with wifi: Bank apps, Amazon apps, Twitch, Feedly, Speedtest.net, etc.
Apps that do work on wifi: Chrome, YouTube, Drive, Mail apps, etc.
If we turn off the wifi, everything works fine. We both are running stock phones, I've got the HK M8, and she's got an older M7. There are times when a few of the apps will work for a few minutes, but then the issues come back. My wife's phone is also able to connect to our work wifi, when there, some of the apps that don't work at home will consistently work, but not all of them
We've both been told by HTC to do factory resets and to flash the latest stock RUU. The issue remains even after doing this. I don't really want to do the next step of sending in our phones for 7 to 10 days while they "repair" them.
I've tried everything I can think of. I've also factory reset our router and tried every wifi channel and/or security option, hoping that it is an issue with my wifi router.
Does anyone have any idea of what I can try before having to mail HTC my phone?
Thanks for any help.
Sounds exactly like the problem I had. Factory reseting the router took care of it for me though...

Hey there, i have been using an M8 for two months now and the problem that I have, which fits exactly the description of yours, is starting to annoying me. Every time I try to use these apps which need login I have to turn to mobile data to be able to do it. In my case, the issue that us affecting me the most, is with whatsapp, which even though I do can use, I cannot download media on wifi! (Neither pictures nor voice recordings).
It's a real pain in the neck to be doing this all the time, and I have two friends who also have m8s and are suffering from the same problems, so I guess it's something quite generic. Besides all the other android phones in my family work just fine with my router, so the problem is clearly mine. I think that HTC should have done something about it long time ago if it is such a common issue, considering that the price of the device is not cheap...
Anyway, my question is: have you been able to solve the problem? If you have, would you please take a min to share the solution? I would be deeply grateful!
Cheers and thanks in advance
I am using my HTC One M8 HK with lollipop update from the time they released and never had any problem with wifi. I use wifi wherever I go and no problem with anything. Try the following solutions:
1. Check the WiFi Router. Most of the times it is the problem with your router. Check if there is any restrictions or whitelist/blacklist of services.
2. You might be having some apps with whitelist/backlist running in the background. It could be your antivirus app, battery booster or Opera app, etc which does the wifi whitelist.
3. If you are using the sign-in wifi networks, make sure you signed in to the network using the browser window before opening the app.
4. If you are using the VPN (even in the wifi network) you won't be able to open the apps like Bank apps.
5. If the apps you installed are not supported in your country, you won't be able to access.
Try uninstalling and reinstalling the apps. Sometimes, when you upgrade to different OS partitions are not aligned properly. Reinstall and check.
Good luck
I recently went back to stock after Verizon released their 39A update. So far I love it, and they've seemed to fix a lot of what I didn't like about their Kit Kat ROM (mainly the UI design). However, there is something that I've been experiencing that I wanted to share with anyone else on 39A, and see if anyone else has experienced it.
From what I can gather, as soon as I add my work email to my phone, which is an Exchange account, the phone seems to slow to a crawl when it comes to anything to do with data. Browsing the web, downloading stuff from the Play Store, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr... anything that uses either wifi or LTE takes forever to load. The odd thing is that it almost seems like something is halting the data from coming through, and then releases it after a minute or so, and then things download super fast.
After much frustration and testing, I finally saw a pattern. It slowed down almost immediately after I added the Exchange account. Not having my work email on my phone is not an option as I am a IT Help Desk Technician who travels to different locations and need access to my email when not on my laptop or desktop computer.
Eventually, I decided I'd try and see what would happen if I switched the update schedule from Push to Fetch. Voila. Now my phone's fast again. Having my Gmail account set to push doesn't cause any problems. Only my Exchange account.
All that to say, I was wondering if anyone else has had this particular experience, and if so, whether or not they have found a solution or workaround other than the one I found. I concede that this could also have something to do with how my work's Exchange server is set up, or what version of Exchange Server we're running, but this never happened before 39A. Never happened on Stock or any of the other ROMs I've run (CM, Mahdi, etc.), both KitKat and Lollipop.
Hi,
I just upgraded to 39a (xdaddeb version) and I don't have that issue. Did tried with pure stock?
Glad you problem solved the issue. You could also boot the phone into Safe Mode. I was running 5.0.2 and didn't have the problem using 39A with exchange.
So I've meant to update this thread, but I found out that it actually isn't exchange causing the issue. I went a few days without having an exchange account on my computer and it eventually slowed down again same as before. At one point I was playing around with some settings and noticed that my cellular data was set to Global instead of LTE, and when I changed it, it sped up again. Then, a few days later, it slowed down again.
It's a peculiar slowness too; it's as though something is hanging the download for about 20 seconds, and then everything downloads at once. One example is if I "cold" launch Play Store, all the images will be blank for about 10-20 seconds, and then they'll all come in at once. Whenever I am running a custom ROM, in this case Cyanogenmod 12, everything loads almost instantly.
Any time I go back to stock, I use the KDZ method. I have not tried a debloated version of 39A, and at this point I'm burnt out on trying to get stock 39A to work properly. It's so annoying to try and show someone an instagram photo I've taken, only for it to take 20 seconds just to load my gallery.
Update (6/16/2015, 10:37am): So I'm trying xdabbeb's 39A debloated ROM, and so far so good. I've made sure my mobile data system setting is set to LTE and not global, and already it just feels faster and more lightweight than the stock ROM. Less RAM usage as well. I have yet to add an exchange account, and I typically start to experience the slowness once I'm on my home wifi, which I am not right now. I hope this works, I really like LG's lollipop ROM.
Update (6/16/2015, 5:34pm): Just got home and connected to my wireless access point, and still running like a champ. Looks like going debloated was the answer. Must be some bloatware app in the stock version that causes the issue. Not sure exactly what xdabbeb removes from the stock version for his debloated ROM, but kudos man.
TL;DR
Upgraded Android to latest on T-Mobile, only SSL connections load. Also can't send MMS messages. Factory reset after the upgrade, still having issues. No idea what causes it, but rebooting the phone sometimes makes the issues go away for a while (might as well be running Windows). The issues seem to happen at random but all happen at once and don't go away once they start.
I have an odd issue that after a little bit of Googling, I haven't been able to find anything on (outside of app developers forgetting the internet permission in their manifest file). I held off on upgrading my phone from 5.0.1 AOC9 for a long time because I had rooted it right after the release and I just never got around to it when others confirmed they could root newer versions. Everything was working until I decided to use Smart Switch to upgrade from AOC9 to the latest 5.1.1 DOJC. After the upgrade I used Odin to flash TWRP and Unikernel for root and it worked fine for a few hours until I noticed I could no longer send MMS messages (receiving them works perfectly fine). I also noticed certain apps would tell me I had no network connection and I knew this was wrong because apps like Facebook were still working perfectly fine on 4G and my WiFi. Eventually I started clicking links from Facebook and noticed some would load and others wouldn't. It took a few links to notice that anything that wasn't loading over an SSL connection would give the message "This site can't be reached. $SITE refused to connect. ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED"
After all of those issues started happening I finally got pissed enough to factory reset, forgot about FRP and had to factory reset again using Smart Switch. I flashed TWRP/Unikernel again and I'm right back to having the issues. Has anyone ever come across anything like this before? I'm getting frustrated enough that I might just swap out the sim and use my G3 for a while until I can sort this out. If there is any kind of log I can post that will help I can post that as well. I tried using adb logcat while attempting to open a site that fails, but I didn't see anything that looked useful. Just calls to my keyboard and chrome opening.
EDIT: Completely forgot to try pinging. I am able to ping any normal HTTP site from a terminal emulator. They're all reachable from my phone. I came across a post from a Comcast customer with a similar issue, although not for Android specifically. The work around was to connect to a VPN service, so I also tried this. Still no luck.
