Nexus or a phone that's getting ICS or one that has a good community with roms and such.

PM me if you're planning to sell your Revo

for me if i was gonna upgrade at this moment i would have to pick either the razr max or the lg spectrum dunno why but those 2 phones have caught my eye

I've just been on the Nexus for a day but I highly recommend it. Incredibly fast and smooth and tons of active development.

Yea i just ordered my nexus i didn't end up using my family members upgrade. Since I've had so many issues with my phone and had to get 3 replacements they sent me a nexus instead of a new Revo free of charge without changing my contract. Ill have it Monday or Tuesday. To be honest tho I was looking thru the nexus forums and like the Revo community a whole lot more. I don't know why but it just feels more like home here

[Q ] Rezound to Bionic.

So I recently shattered the screen on my Rezound
Thinking of getting a Bionic since Big Red has them for free. What do you guys think of the Bionic? Is development going strong? And do ICS ROMs exist? Are they stable enough to be a daily driver? Any input is welcomed

If your warranty allows it, get another Rezound.
Development is not that active. Eclipse is the only active Gingerbread-base ROM available. Team Gummy & Hive Dev are doing ICS ROMs but since the locked bootloader of the Bionic prevents kernel changes, ICS is not 100% functional.
Well I have insurance on my Rezound but I don't have the $99 for the insurance claim and I have an upgrade on my plan now. Anything is better than the DX I'm using right now haha

I agree. I have the Bionic and my wife has the Rezound. I feel like I got the short end of the stick here.
You're better off to stay with the X and save up the insurance deductible, IMHO.
That being said, the Bionic ICS ROMs are nice, but they all have the silly camera issues. Those might not be resolved until an official Moto ICS is released. You can take pictures using the cameras, but no video, and no barcode scanners, etc.
Eclipse is a nice Gingerbread ROM. It's what I'm running now.
What if I could have both? Haha the upgrade is my moms, so it won't add time to my line. And later I can send the Rezound in to the insurance and get it fixed. Then I will have both. I don't see the downside in trading this DX for a Bionic for free. Because I cannot stand this phone after having my Rezound.

I will chime in here and tell you im currently on my third bionic in a week and number 4 will be delivered tomorrow. I would STAY AWAY from this phone. If you do any web surfing from your phone you will have issues with this one. The bionic is known for data drop issues . But if you dont plan on using this phone for anything other then developement i would wait on the rezound .

Probably stick with the Rezound, only phone I'd ditch my Rezound for currently is the Maxx.

Personally I'm a big fan of the Bionic. I got mine on release day last September and haven't had any major problems in all that time. I'm rooted and stock, with about 45 bloatware apps frozen. Each time there's an update I just unfreeze, update and refreeze with TiBu. Works great. If you don't want to spend the money for another Rezound I say go for it.
Unfortunately this is no longer an option for me. My girlfriend decided it would be a good idea to dump gatorade on her uninsured Rhyme. So now the upgrade will be going to her. Looks like I'll just have to bite the bullet and make an insurance claim

I web surf on my phone daily without issue. I would not say what you experienced is common for other users.
Maybe you need to take a phone 101 class, or buy from a different seller.

Lol phone 101 class? ?? I get my phones from Verizon . I cant help the data drop issues ( which is a KNOWN issue with this phone ) do a google search on the data drops and you will clearly see its not just me. If it dont bother you that the data drops off multiple times a day and you are used to sub par performance and you dont mind paying for data droppage thats you but I personally want my phone to work . The 905 update is rolling out to try and fix the DATA DROP ISSUE. There you have your first phone 101 lesson.

What new android phone should I get?

Hey guys, pretty straight forward.
Just to let you know, I really don't want an HTC one x, or any other phone with poor battery life.
Things that matter:
Screen size: 4in+
Processor
Camera quality
HARDWARE in general
Overall feel of the phone in your hand
I would prefer the least amount of plastic on the phone as possible.
Thanks guys

HTC sensation or galaxy s 2
Sent from my HTC Sensation
Plastic is a nice thing....
Do you have a carrier preference? Are you wanting to stay with VZW?
HTC EVO 4G LTE.
Outstanding battery life.
16GB internal storage and a micro sd slot.
Blazing fast processor.
It feels solid as a rock.
It has the best screen of any phone I have ever used, 4.7 inch.
The camera on this phone is phenomenal. Here is a thread with pics from it.
All in all this is the best phone I have ever owned.
The evo 4G is very intriguing.
As far as carrier, I don't care at all.
So far the phones in the race are:
Sony xperia ion
HTC evo 4g
Samsung galaxy s3
These are just so far. Feel free to offer any handset as a suggestion. I'll put up a poll when I get into the preliminaries.

I'm jelly of ya'll that have more than one carrier with service in your area.
Does the Nexus not even get a honorable mention simply because it gets the newest Android versions before any other phones? I agree that there is better hardware on the market, but I love showing off all the new features before anyone else gets them. My buddy just posted on fb how he got ICS on his RAZR, I replied "It can't do a barrel roll." Its fun to be smug about firmware lol.
I got my hands on a SGSIII and I liked it allot, big good looking screen, felt good in my hand, fast and smooth. I rooted it and gave it back to my buddy. Plus the Galaxy S phones have good development so you wont be waiting too much longer than Nexus for custom ROMs and such..
The nexus was in the running, but the camera threw it out for me.
Sent from my R800x using xda app-developers app
If you want to be certain you'll get 1st party updates without waiting them definitely Galaxy Nexus. The camera, however, isn't too good.
Personal suggestion is S2. I haven't found one con from this phone, it's fast,I like its screen,a lot of development here, camera is excellent. It also packs a 1 6GB flash memory and a micro SD slot.

I'm sitting on the fence. I would settle for the phone being stable, regardless of what OS it runs on (which is what I'm working on). I've got my TF300 for Android play.
I'm considering whether it's worth trying to go through the hassle of packaging something, or just giving this thing the boot and buying a phone outright.
I won't be renewing my contract with Verizon EVER as I never want to lose my unlimited plan.
I have two. Might go to one soon......
Still have mine. My contract is up on Jan. 26th. which is 5 months early. I am guessing they are trying to get me off unlimited data early. I got news for them... Here at work we are part of Microsoft's Customer Assurance program. We test out software and devices for them in a live enterprise environment and report back any issues. Kind of like a closed beta tester. They give us phones for various carriers. We got iPhones, android, and windows phones to test their software on. We put in for WP8 if we get confirmation then we will get Lumia 822. I will just issue myself one of those to use till I tire of it. That way I can keep my unlimited data. Fran schammo can kiss my ass that greedy corporate douche.
That last post made me laugh. Not sure a "thanks" is appropriate, but it's as close as we have to a "rep" on this forum. Lol
But yeah, I've still got my Revo. I bought a Droid 4 on Ebay so as to not lose my unlimited data. I then discovered that the Revo was still usable for everything but cellular service, so I'm still using it a bit.
It's an easy way of getting Netflix in the living room for one thing.
I'm still here too. Been trying to work on a rom but between working 6 days a week, school, getting married 2 months ago, and now a pregnant wife things have been a little crazy...
I am stuck with this phone until October. Have gotten it to run fairly stable though, VOD about once a month and a couple screen freezes a week. If I can ever finish what I'm doing I will get it posted up here.

I'm hoping all goes well with this thing. What kind of stuff are you implementing in your kernel? Might be a good addition to my rom eventually.

I'm on my 2nd Revo. Now know all the tricks (RAM is precious!). Have *all* the accessories (two car docks, home dock, regular and extended spare batteries and back, wireless charging pad, and back).
I'm having trouble finding another phone I want, once I accepted the limitations:
a. must limit widgets/running apps/total apps/certain apps, in order to keep free RAM at about 80-150MB.
b. ignore aesthetics (looks, bulk, screen). This is easy for me, and I actually like the Revo.
1. RAZR Maxx HD:
- both mostly at 4.3" screen (except RAZR Maxx HD is at 4.7" when viewing videos).
- battery life similar with extended battery (but Revo can swap batteries).
- Revo has wireless charging and dedicated car and home docks, and micro SD slot.
- RAZR Maxx HD has apt-X bluetooth codec, for great music fidelity with matching apt-X headphones.
- priced at ~ $500 used.
2. Galaxy S III:
- GS III has bigger screen at price of bigger phone.
- GS III feels less robust/more prone to screen cracks due to torquing.
- GS III has apt-X codec.
- priced at ~ $500 used.
3. LG Spectrum 2:
- see GS III above, but Spectrum 2 has no apt-X, and less accessories (no LG extended battery, even).
- comes with wireless charging back.
- priced at ~$350 used.
4. RAZR M:
- M has nice, smaller form factor, but with on-screen buttons, has only 4.0" screen most of the time.
- limited storage with no micro SD slot, limited internal storage.
- non-replaceable battery.
- has apt-X codec.
- priced at ~ $350 used.
I don't want to spend ~$350 to $500 for the privilege of giving up the capabilities of wireless charging, extended battery, home dock with separate battery charger, and car dock that starts up Revo's Car Home app when Revo is inserted.

Mainly I'm trying to keep it as stock as possible. Just adding a few new governors. But the main thing is to keep voltages at stock levels. I think that might be the cause of the vod. And I'm adding swap.

I for one had a love/hate relationship with my Thrill. Loved it at first....hated waiting for the updates....but over all the phone has been GREAT! I rooted, but kept the stock ROM. Just froze some bloatware. Recently updated to ICS...LOVE IT! I would like to root again to get Tethering and to re-freeze apps, but so the solutions I am finding are too convoluted for me. I want something as simple as it was to root with GB using Megatron Exploit.
My contract is up in a month. I am definitely considering the Optimus G. Not a fan of the S3 form factor. Feels like a toy and don't like the rounded edges.
I love my Thrill but LG and ATT seriously upset me when it comes to updating. And the tools necessary to to modify this phone are ridiculous. Not so bad now that I have tinkered with things, but it look a long time to figure it all out. This phone would be junk if it were not for the few brilliant developers we have that took the time to work around LG's crap. I will probably never buy an LG phone again. I want something with over the air updates and I want to purchase it from a company that actually concentrates on the phones that are already out. Don't even get me started on things like cases and invisishields which you can't even find anymore at places like Best Buy, etc.

I will never ever get another lg phone. The device itself is not bad, the issue is the service from lg themselves. Its nonexistent worst support ever. Im def going to another company when my 2 years is up.
I don't think I would probably go with a samsung s3 or s4 maybe a nexus. I would like to have an sd card though so the nexus probably wont happen. I dont even know what phones lg have out so I do like this phone though plus for a 100 buck and no data plan can't really beat it.
I've never seen such a laggy device. It's bizarre.

They really had no say so in what happened with ICS.
Part of it was AT&T's wrong doing by cutting the contract with LG for a while. They had to renew it before any decision to release another firmware/software was developed.
