I have a tricky problem with the internal storage (Internal SD Card).
No changes are possible to perform. No format, wipe or whatever worked.
For instance, after every boot-up the uninstalled apps are back, no pictures can be taken by the camera and so forth...
I found other people with the same problem, so I'm certainly not the only one with this problem.
Here I found people with the same Problem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=941139
And here a possible solution
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=875042
Unfortunately, I did not find the mentioned Zip file to cure my sweet Galaxy S [running 2.3.5 XXJVT].
Does anybody know a solution?
Thanks!

For an unknown China phone that is?

Dear guys,
I have a very strange problem with my tab. The internal memory seems to be “read only” after restart.
Ai have this problem after I stopped a transfer between my laptop and the tab (a movie). The problem is that o can’t format internal memory, to fix any fat leaks. I try to wipe all, flash with every know firmware from h__p://w w w.samfirmware.com/WEBPROTECT-p1000.htm, format internal memory from CWM. Every format command works (finish format ok),
I can used the space on tab (even accessing from laptop) but when I restart my tablet I have the old content.
My question is what the f__k is happened and who to fix it.
Many thanks in advance!
Any one??!?!?!
Any one??!?!?!
I can't help with the solution but fwiw I have exactly the same problem. Samsung's only suggestion was to send it in for repair but I'm hesitant to do that because all my data is still on the device. I've tried hard resetting it but everything comes back as soon as I reboot. I can remove or install application but they reset as soon as I reboot the Tab. I cannot make any kind of permanent changes to it.
It's very frustrating to say the least. Anyone have any suggestions for what would cause this? Mine is still a stock device with only a few market applications.
I also have some issues with internal "SDCARD" and that is that i cannot move anything onto it using andy SGT filemanagement system or the very bad KIES software. At the moment my external SD is full but the internal SD has like 14GB free and i cannot balance the storage!?!
If I move programs to SD will it me moved to internal or external SD and can I choose the setting?
The only way I managemd to move stuff into internal SD is to download files like films and music via DLNA over WiFi - those files are saved correctly were I want it...
any advise would be appreciated...
So this means that i can't repair my tablet?
I can't find any solution for this problem. and i believe that we are not the only one with this problem.
I send it to service... they replaced main board...
but canceled my warranty reason: unauthorized software intervention - root access
So... watch out for this. factory reset you tablet or mobile (if possible... in my case was not possible)
Thank you for your support.
I have the same
I have the same exact problem ,, anyone can help plz ??
Hi:
I´ve just discovered this forum. Hello...
Just the same problem here and Samsung doesn´t repair my device. Can you give me any help?
Regards
This is exactly the same problem I've encountered. Moments AFTER rooting the thing.
Which leads me to believe any and all warranty question is well out of the window.
Has anyone encountered a solution as yet?
I appreciate the posts above are a few months old so I'm hoping some sort of resolution has been found!
Same problem here too
Internal mem seems fine and you can delete things, but after reboot nothing is remembered.
Gave it to service (non samsung/carrier), They said that the p1000 is known for having bad internal memory problems.
They partitioned my 8GB external sd card and installed a Chinese MIUI rom 4.0.4 that is supposed to support installation and running from external SD mem.
The problem is they didn't remove the internal memory - so all old apps still exist there and can' t be removed (it probably mounts the internal mem and thinks it can write to it - but in practice nothing is written). So when i go to market and try to DL an app it says no memory left on device because it tries to put it on the internal mem and not the external.
Also, after reboot all the account setup wizard screen settings are forgotten and you need to redefine everything again.
I saw a thread on XDA that explains you need to remove the internal SD mem physically (and explains how to do it) but i am a little afraid to do it...
Anyone else try this ?
Also strange you need to change the whole MB for a faulty memory, why can't the internal mem just be replaced ?
Hi, please keep all question/help related threads in the Q&A section only. Thank You.

I have a problem and found this unanswered question in the internet:
Hello,
so I have a rather big problem here. My internal SD-card on my I9000 does not accept any changes(delete/write/move).
The funny thing is that I can actually copy files to my sd and delete files. I can even format it(from recovery mode, windows, menu) whatever I do seems to work till I reboot. After every reboot my system is back to the state before I changed anything.
I tried everyway I could think of. Changing permissins via adb shell, installing file system fixes via adb push(to my surprise it did allow me to copy files directly into /system as long as I did it while in recovery mode).
I even tried several different firmwares. No matter what I do it's the same, no changes are permanent. As soon as I reboot every change is gone.
This feels like working with oracle and forgetting to commit.
Is there a way to format the sd card via adb shell? Preferably a low level format(since the quick format doesn't seem to do anything). Or some sort of forced flush for the sd card? Some way to just clear my internal sd should do the trick.
Every solution I found on the internet didn't work.
What does work is the download mode, the recovery mode and adb.
I sure hope someone has an idea. It's rather unpleasent being unable to change anything on the internal sd.
My problem is exactly the one stated above, and I have tried pretty much everything I found in the internet, including running Ubuntu live cd and format/partition/etc, but the problem persists.
I need one of 3 possibilities:
1 - Someone tell me what is wrong and how to fix
2 - Since Internal SD is unchangeable, would like to know how to make /data and /sdcard to be mounted on external sd at boot time (probably some changes at firmware or kernel).
3 - Someone tell me that it is broken and cannot be repaired by software, must be hardware serviced.
Really thanks in advance
Same problem!
i do have the EXACT same Problem!!!! Any solution jet?
Got a similar problem with my Galaxy Tab... Anyone found a solution yet?
friend of mine has a htc and uses a program called superwipe
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=834812
dont know if it will work on the galaxy s though, but coukd be worth a read through the notes and posts
Wow . I have a similar problem. Although EVEN more troublesome.
Inaddition to all this
I cannot even DELETE the alarms taht i set before having this problem. I cannot Install the apps as well.
Uninstalling the ones - and they reappear the next time I boot.
Need Serious HELP on this.
My phone is restricted to ONLY making calls and sms. Thats all.
I have the *EXACT* same issue here. Only with a Sprint Galaxy Tab. My reboot is fresh and gives me "nothing" every time I boot no matter how much I configure. I can't write anything to the internal SD card or make any new folders.

I have a different problem. My internal sd seems slow. Anyway, I must feel lucky.
If you look at page 15 of the following datasheet, you will notice that the moviNAND can be set in a "write-protect" mode:
http://web3032.sh1.magic2008.cn.m1.magic2008.cn/uFile/3032/201144131545503.pdf
See if you can read the CSD register data on your phone, and mingle with it.
Good luck.

To test quick go development->>launch tools->>bad behavior->>crash the system server.
Your device will reboot and you will have both in/ext sdcard (if its the same prob).

Galaxy Tab 2 running on blisspop rom
I have to reboot every time this happens. The error message in mx player shows cannot write to internal sd..
Es xplorer cannot delete any item. Terminal emulator shows mount as read only
Any way to fix this?
Hi,
I tried several custom roms (Slim ICS, CM 9, now ICS333 1.0.2)
However on all of them the phone doesn't recognize the external storage. Is this a general issue?
Beucase I can't use a lot of apps because of this.
I can't access the Gallery because it says "No external storage available". I can't import contacts, can't use the camera app..
Mounting USB storage in the settings doesn't change a thing. It tries to every time but all stays the same.
I know the files are in the emmc folder but does that mean all the apps are unusable? I don't see anyone else complaining.
Is there anything else I can do?
It's actually the phone's internal storage that I meant. My phone doesn't recognize it.
In clockworkmod is does... On my phone with all the roms tested it doesn't.
Troll the threads for each of the ROMs.
Yes it is a lot of reading but you probably will find your answer
I have same problem for 2 months. I tried every rom from the site. I thing have tried 100 roms. Nothing have working for me. I have downgrade to 2.3.6 Also the same problem. Im searching for 2 months. I really need help for this..
Download from market Root Browser and after you install it you will see a Green Button to go back. Press it and enter in "emmc" folder there is your External Storage!(sorry for my english)
Hello everyone,
I have tried very hard not to post here for help, reading quite a few of the posted forums topics related to my issue.
I have tried this:
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_Tab_(CDMA):_Full_Update_Guide
I have used the stable CM9 and even the latest daily (as of today) of CM10.
the issue is after I install, the window just gets stuck at the logo. CM10 seems stuck on the circular logo, looping over and over. However, with CM9, it always gives me an error "Encryption Unsucessful". i've read if i click the button "reset data", it messes up the cache. I have also seen that it then proceeds to give me an error, saying it cannot mount the /cache/(4-5 directories about recovery and logs).
I even have asked for help in the #gtab channel and had tons of help from "Insanity".
thank god for this, I've been able to go back to stock:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17817287&postcount=2
I am at a point where I'm not sure what to do or what to test.
i started with cwm-5.0.2.7-p1c
and tried cm-9.1.0-p1c, cm-10-20121109-NIGHTLY-p1c, and cm-10-20121111-NIGHTLY-p1c
after installing cm9 and cm10, i do notice that cwm gets updated from 5 to 6 (i believe it was 6, i know it was a higher version and the font color was light/neon blue)
I have tried doing these steps on Windows 7 and on Mac OSX 10.8.2
Any help would be appreciated.

That sounds like the internal storage has been damaged. If it's indeed a hardware error, it can't be repaired by software, the chip or the motherboard would need to be replaced. A workaround would be to use external storage (an SD card) as internal storage. Recent CM10 nightlies can do this by partitioning the card, putting a file called activate_data_on_sdcard on it, and installing the CM10 nightly from recovery.

thanks ableeker,
is there a way i can verify that the storage was damaged?
also, I'm able to restore and put EF17 on it with Odin, essentially reverting it, and it runs fine. wouldn't it run bad if the internal card was damaged?
the same problem (Encryption Unsuccessful) was faced in CM9 (search for that and you will find many), and thought to have been resolved in CM10, but apparently not. (also reported by other users)
It could lead to permanent internal storage damage.
I think while you still have good one, stick to the stock rom or any rom up to gingerbread.
I think it mostly affect p1c users, but if I am not mistaken I read one or two p1 users too, but it could be due to different cause.

Hello All,
Suddenly have the “Couldn’t install on USB storage or SD card” problem. Quite a bit of information on the net on how to solve it, but it isnt doing it for this tablet.
I can not unmount the sdcard prior to installing/updating apps, theres simply no option for that in the setting->storage.
Second solution is to delete a file called "smdl2tmp1.asec" from one of two paths, but that file is not there.
I attached the tablet to the PC, but just see the "sdcard", not the internal memory.
I have CM10, from this forum.
Hope anyone can help me... Slowly my apps are being killed of by this problem, swiftkey and officesuite pro tried to update today, and can not even be opened anymore since...
Thanks,
Jeroen
Not sure what tab you have, but dies it have an external sd card? Internal is probably the same as sd card. It is on the i957.
God promised men that he'd put beautiful women in all corners of the world. Then he laughed and laughed and made the world round
I have the samsung 8.9 wifi tab. No external sdcard I can take out, just one that shows up as sdcard under /mnt/.
The tab is not dying on me, justn some apps show mthe error on updating them. Then afterwards those apps are not just updated, they're gone completely. I tried deleteing all dirs that I could find that seems associated with them, but the error still exists, I still get that same error on installing the app.
Thanks for replying, hope this clears up my poor description of the problem
OK, I did a full wipe and flashed CM10 and gapps, but the problem still exist. Installing apps gives me this problem... Anyone an idea?
Maybe the internal sdcard or memory is simply broke? But if so, why would the system install without problems?
Aww, my loved tab 8.9....

for whoever this is going to be useful, it turned out to be a kernel issue. Some developer confirmed it for me. so I fixed it in the end by installing a stock rom, the problem kept returning with non stock Roms...
