2.2 will not work on my Droid

I'm posting here because I don't know what else to do, my phone freezes using any froyo rom. It happens randomly and sometimes will not happen until I reboot the phone, but it makes my phone pretty much unusable. I've tried the leaked froyo rom, BB, CM 6 1&2 and countless others. I've tried wiping data / cache and formating the SD card (worked until i put my music back on), and I'm about to just try stock 2.2 and exchange it for a new one if it wont work.
Anyone else have this problem that could help me?

One thing I didn't see you do...
Have you at all root your phone to install the desired froyo rom for your phone?

Yes I am rooted, I'm currently on CM 5.0.8 and very happy but I would really like to get froyo working.

Alright. This is what I've done to get Froyo working on my Droid: I rooted my phone, downloaded BB v4 and changed the name of the file to update, installed Rom Manager on my phone(then found out I can download the roms from here as well), reboot into recovery through rom manager, wiped data & cache, selected install zip, then selected reboot phone. It took a bit to register but it converted over with BB v4.

this sounds like my exact problem, I'm going to look through my library and see if there is a corrupt file then try again

[Q] Captivate market deleted, what do?

Hello, guys. This is my first post after lurking for a while, adding roms and getting all of the good stuff for my captivate. But i bumped across the new market. I didn't follow instructions completely and deleted the market. So how should I fix this? I don't want to reflash my phone, because this would take 6 days and I am going on vacation in a few days, and I don't think I will survive without my beloved phone.
Any help on how to download the market app would be much appreciated. I have the android market app v2.12 but it will not let me install through my computer...

Still have the *.apk for the new market? If not you can go to the Themes Forum and do a search there - someone had the *.apk file for the new market app. You can download it - put it on your SDCard and then run it through your file manager - should install and your back in business.
Will need to use the SEARCH feature to find it though as I don't have the link.

Allright, thanks. I hope this works because normally I could not install apps directly to my phone because of at&t but i will try this.

btw.. are you on a stock ROM (2.1) or have you flashed to a custom ROM? Also if your phone isn't rooted this method won't allow you to install the app.
Sorry forgot to mention it.
And uh.. it never takes me 6 days to flash - usually takes me about 15-20 minutes to flash back to stock, install the new ROM, and restore my applications/app data.

It WAS on android 2.2 but I'm not sure if it is anymore because i tried restoring it to factory settings. And I'm talking about sending it to samsung to reflash it, I don't know how to do it myself :/

Oh, and yes. It is rooted.
and the app from there is kind of messed up... Very glitchy (crashes a lot and lags like crazy) and doesn't show every app in searches, like z4root which is how i easily rooted my phone the first time.
So i really just want the old market back but it will just not let me.

Go into Menu -> Settings -> About Phone and look to where it says "Firmware Version". If it says 2.2 and your phone has been rooted it should work fine.
Otherwise... you would at least need to Root it if on 2.2.
And if your not on 2.2? I'm not sure if this will work as I know it was pulled from a 2.2 updated phone.

Ok.. Plan B
You should be able to find the old Market app inside the *.zip file of any ROM you have downloaded. Just make sure they are 2.2 Froyo ROMs
Open up the *.zip file and go into system/app and look for (I'm 99% sure) "MarketUpdater.apk"
Copy that file to your SDCard and install using your file manager - should overwrite everything and hopefully your good.
Also.. you could go to your Menu --> Settings --> Applications and probably uninstall the current Market app you have downloaded first - delete any cache/data under there first before uninstalling.
Hopefully that will throw back on the original market app and your all set.

The only problem with that is... It was this one click downloader thing... Odin3. So I don't know... It also won't let me reupdate it for some reason....

Hrm.. This is from the OTA JH7 zip I have lying around. Give this a try and see if it works.
If not you will need to re-flash back to stock.

Could you supply me with a good rom thats easy to download and has the market and ****, like android 2.2, because the odin crap doesn't work for me.

Then a few options you have is Cognition, Auxura, or Assonance.
I've ran all of them and they are all great ROM's. I currently am running Assonance with the Gingerbread theme and it runs great.
Just make sure to do the reading first then download the ROM and you should be on your way.... just remember failure to follow the directions if on you and your warranty is already toast

Actually. Something that would REALLY help would be helping me get into download mode. Every time i plug my phone into the computer in download mode it says usb device not recognized. How do i fix this? I've tried about every samsung drivers... None of them work... If i could get it into download mode i could get it working easily

im having seriouse trouble with my SanFrancisco phone from orange ( Zte Blade )
iv successfully rooted my phone and have clockworkrecoveryMod Working fab

i have done this correctly and im happy with the result, (apart from all my data been lost, but i dont mind as long as i have froyo
but heres the problem,

so iv saved the theme as update.zip and put it in the root of my phone,
then i opend clockwork and selected the theme correctly, and installation was succesfull,
but when i boot up again after the installation the android startup screen is stuck,
and also, using this new froyo, i cant seem to download and install apps of the market?
anyone helpp plzzz )))))))))

Just do these commands, you need to reflash your froyo rom, but your data is lost i think. Open your recovery and make:
1. Full wipe
2. wipe cache
3. wipe SD:ext
3. Flash your froyo rom, than reboot and you get back the original froyo.
Don't forget: every rom has a special theme for itself, you can't flash every theme with every rom. If you want an alternative read about metamorph.

is that rom even for your phone? Use the theme porter to inject the theme into your rom.

nah nothing wrong happens when you port the theme to the rom you are using. i've ported like 5-6 themes already.

iv been using clockworkrecoverymod to install the themes under update.zip
but theres also the problem with the market, iv done alot of searching to find out y the apps wont install of the market, any ideas? thx
im gradually thinking it would be best to start clean, and if i were to start again how would i install 2.2 android onto a zte blade without hacking it?

I have had no problems with my Tab at all but when I work up today it was off. I am sure that is just the the battery dieing due to me not plugging it in for two days.
But what I turn on the tab and every thing loads up I go to start the wifi and it says error.
Has anyone seen this problem and know how to fix it?
I am guessing I would wipe the tab clean but I am hoping not to.

What I have done so far and learned.
I re flashed KhasMek Voodoo Plus v2 with Heimdall
I went to run Titanium Backup but it said I did not have Root. (Not sure how I lost root?)
A few apps will not start and get a FC as soon as I try to open them.
One of them being z4Root when I tried to reroot my tab.

I have just tried to uninstall an app and restarted the tab but the app is still on the Tab and I am not able to install an app from the card.

It really sucks not having internet!!

I wish I knew something about verizon. Does it use a modem? Maybe your rom doesn't have a modem. Under settings> mobile network is anything greyed out?

Nothing is greyed out, but I think it has to be more than a modem problem.
It wont let me install new apps or delete apps, plus I lost root.

Can someone tell me where to find out how to take My VW TAb back to stock ??
I rally dont care if I loss everything, i just need it working again.
Most days I am reading the news and emailing people on the thing but with out internet this thing is a big paper wait.

My v2.1 kernel had some wifi issues, I haven't updated the non-OC version yet, but if you flash the 1.4OC (overclocked) version you shouldn't have anymore wifi issues.

Do you know what would make the loss of root? and not being able to uninstall or install programs?
After booting in to recovery I see I dont have Clock Work recovery installed.
But I did use your app Verizon Tab Recovery Bootstrap from the market.

Do you have or know of a way to where I can take everything back to being stock?
I have ClockworkMod Revovery v3.0.0.5 Installed but when I go to wipe date or wipe cache I get a lot of E:cant mount and cant opens.

in the clockworkmod recovery v 3.0.0.5 menu go to advanced -> reboot recovery and it should reboot into clockwork recovery v3.0.0.0 where you can wipe cache, factory reset, or backup/restore data. Search for a heimdall or Odin backup of stock sprint to get back to stock, if you didn't back it up on your own.

Still testing things out to see what ROM works best for me but my tab is back to working.

[Q] Can't restore via CWM [fixed]

I'm fairly new to the modding of Android phones (my previous phone was a TYTN II) and I'm having some problems restoring my backups via Clockwork mod (which is a bit of a pain in the ass for me, as I think you understand).
Ive tried to flash my phone and stuff, but I can't download apps from market/start google talk (I know this is related to eachother) when I have a mdc rom installed. This is not really the problem I'm asking a solution for, but the real problem is, that I can't go back to my old rom and stuff. I have rooted my phone, installed CWM, made a backup, but somehow it keeps freezing at the loading screen of the phone whenever I have restored a backup and reboot the phone.
Atm I have resetted my phone with NVFlash, I have not yet innstalled anything but I still have a backup which I'd like to restore. This is my situation:
LG-P990: Android 2.2.2, Baseband 1035.21_20110315 (I updated this with Paul's update), Kernel 2.6.32.9, Build: FRG83G, LGE version: v10b.
Anyone has an idea what I'm doing wrong? Did I miss a step in the process? Please help me out!

I'm no expert, so you should probably wait for one of them, but I had a similar problem and it's important to do a wipe before installing the ROM. (There's two wipe options, run them both)

please check if the DATE in your settings is correct. the rom I had previously installed was set to MAY and this made it impossible to use gtalk and download roms.
yeah sounds silly, but worth checking
ah well since you have reset already. but maybe you get back in the same situation at one time.

@Marco_ch: I already tried the date problem, literally went thru 100 of pages to find out what the issue was with the gtalk, but nothing helped, so I'm guessing I made a mistake with the rooting or something...
I already reset, but this is the third time I've reset, I've already tried flashing my device 3 times and each time I end up not being able download apps.
@Jakkelomme: As far as I know there is only 1 wipe option? Reset factory settings? I always do that before I install a rom yes.

Left out all the LG Stuff as I find it kinda useless and laggy

Did everything you asked, installed new version of Romkitchen with the stuff you suggested... Still doesnt download appss. Still stuck at "Starting download...". Help, anyone?

Nevermind guys, I fixed it. Turned out the problem WAS with date & time. My provider made the date 12/05/'11 instead of 12/04/'11. It was why I couldnt download from the market. Thank you all for helping out anyway
