[Q] BL + sim unlock - XPERIA X8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I have a question about bootloader unlocking. I know it doesn't unlock the carrier, so I've contacted Three UK and they're obtaining a code for my Xperia X8 that I bought on PAYG which will be £15.34 and can take up to 2 weeks.
My question is that if I go ahead and unlock the bootloader so that I can put newer kernels in (and therefore newer ROMs), will it remove the unlock code they gave me in any form, or will my phone always stay unlocked?
Also, if it goes back to locked, can I use that same code from Three and just unlock it again?
Thanks guys.

Also, I assume if anything goes wrong I can use the Pc Companion to practically wipe back to manufacturers kernel/rom/BL/settings?

You guys can't keep posting the Same question.
Anyway, your phone will get locked original network

I believe if you use code to unlock SIM you' ll have phone same as one that was never locked. And none of your actions should lock it again.
It would be nice if somebody experienced confirm this, though.

I didn't intend to ask the same question again. I did use the search so I apologise if it's already been asked but I'd love a definitive answer.
My guess is that either way, my IMEI will stay the same of course so in theory the same code could be used numerous times on the phone regardless. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
I think I understand from your post that after unlocking BL it'll revert to original carrier lock? Same code or?

[Q] Bootloader Unlock on[ factory unlocked] Phone

I think my phone had sim lock before i bought it, because it had 2.1 on it.
So i want to unlock the bootloader. In many threads about that i read:
Unlocking the bootloader of your phone will restore the original sim lock of your phone (if you had any) unless if you unlocked with EMMA/IMEI unlock code or it was factory-unlocked or if SE unlocked it!.
However, some users have reported that using msm7227_semc.cmd on their sim-unlocked phones did not restore the sim lock onto their phone. This has not been confirmed as of yet. Unlock the bootloader on your sim unlocked phone AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Ahem, hi, just wanted to point out that the quoted text you provided us with says it's unconfirmed. It will probably be safe but its unconfirmed if the sim-lock is restored

If your phone came factory unlocked (no SIM lock by default) then s1tool should tell you "no SEMC simlock certificate found"...
Align that information with the unlock thread in the dev section and you should have your answer (that you can unlock).

really? great so i can safely unlock the bl.?
is flashtool good for that.
with factory unlocked i meant that it had no simlock when i bought it. maybey it had one before because it had 2.1 not the original 1.6 on it and the sellin package was sealed with a sticker of an german provider. so i think it was unlocked and sold as a kind of remaining stock

See this thread and carefully read through the steps dealing with "if you had SEMC simlock certificate".
EDIT: If you are having problems with the lousy English of that guide contact me by PM - I can talk German as well.
Does someone know what SEMC simlock certificate means?
Has some experiences with unlocking such a phone which had sim lock befor?

Afaik there will always be even a small chance of something going wrong. But then
It's the 11w29+ phones that are really at risk.
Goodluck lukenda. And if you do get your bl unlocked, thanks for your help for those of us with 11w29+.

As everyone said before, it's safe as long as the phone isn't sim-locked.
However, regarding Jelly Bean -- as nobodyAtall said on his CM10 development thread, it's "a best effort to support the unsupportable" or something like that; our X8 really, really shouldn't go any further than 2.3. I'm currently on 4.0 and it leaves a lot to be desired -- 2.3 roms are *much* snappier, but for some reason I get terrible battery life on those (that's why I'm on 4.0)
How can i be sure that my phone is not sim lock.
Without inserting various sim cards,thanks

Read Bootloader unlock threads for thatv sim certificate. Everything is explained there.
Mine X8 is 11W19 and i had no problems with unlocking bootloader.
Are u seriously asking these or u are testing us.. u have been here since quite a long time and know a lot more than many of us around..
Any way you can check out the thread by spyderx on unlocking with all the methods and details or mine below for a simple one with some usefull links..
And yes i haven't heard anyone complaining about brick for the one's below 11W29, still no one can assure u on that, there are always a few chances if something goes wrong(very small chance )..
Good luck..
No risk is involved, but use your brain a little bit.
Im sure you will be happy after unlocking ur bootloader.
Hey, ur not a noob, though its ur choice
You should read related threads for unlocking bootloder and then follow proper procedure.
U will definitely succeed.
Gud luck

[Q]Bootloader Unlock Allowed: No = forever stock Kernel?

Well means that simply that I can forget oc or uv my device as like using cm in my device?

Forget about unlocking the bootloader, its not possible. No over/under-clock for you, no CyanogenMod or other goodies.
All carrier branded phones are locked and almost impossible to unlock.

Only thing I can recommend is to get a generic device instead of a carrier one.
No use lamenting about it here.

is there chance to have -Bootloader Unlock Allowed: No - when my phone is from shop ? ( not from carrier, not branded)
I think that it's not the matter of branded/not branded etc. beacuse I've seen bootloader unlock allowed: yes after I rooted and installed CWM and TWRP; today I've reverted rooting via SPC and the bootloader unlock allowed is back on: no; so I think someone has to look through it to see if you can override it...

I doubt the Sony bootloader will be cracked any time soon as the Xperia T was never cracked and thats a much older device.
Unfortunately that means no custom kernels/CyanogenMod.
If you buy a factory unlocked device the bootloader will be unlockable/carrier branded devices may be locked and not unlock able.. Pretty simple really.
Sorry that I can't help much.
Un-lock Xpeia SP
If you Un-lock the Xperia SP for all Networks, does this make bootloader Unlock available?
If not, any Ideas why?

Nope. SIM-UNLOCK is separate to bootloader unlock.
It just doesn't.
On some old xperia phones you could open sim and bootloader like xperia arc if you used test point method to unlock sim it unlocked boot loader as well.
2013 xperia models that don't have removable battery are no longer able to use test point so you can't unlock boot loader or sim.
To unlock sim you need code which you cab buy from internet.
To unlock bootloader you need to contact your airtime provider and see if they will help in unlocking bootloader again this needs code but not freely available.

[Q] Why there isn't any way to unlock the carrier locked BL?

Hi guys,
My question is simple (please notice that i am a noob) i just wanna know why there is this block, becuse it's really annoying. And if this is not pernament then is anybody working to unlock it?
thanks in advance!
I think its locked for at least 2 reasons:
1.-Its locked so you CAN'T use another carrier's SIM card (Not very sure about this)
2.-Its locked so you CAN'T hard brick your phone
Maybe we don't need to unlock it: http://www.xda-developers.com/android/locked-bootloader-xperia-s-and-want-cm10-no-problem/

You need a custom kernel. And to install one, you need an unlocked bootloader.. which will break your warranty on many cases, so be careful

Already unlocked my bootloader,
Sorry, I'm a rookie at android devices, where can I get a custom kernel
And what do i need to do after that?
EDIT: It seems we replied at the same time! haha.. nevermind what I said below then....
Also note that a lot of our Xperia T's bootloaders are NOT unlockable. There is a code you can dial on your phone to take you to a service menu where it will tell you if your bootloader is unlockable. If it says No, then your bootloader simply cannot be unlocked. Then you can join the many of us who patiently pray and wait for someone out there to crack or work around it

As far as I know, you need to flash it via Flashtool. But I still have locked bl, so you better ask someone with more experience
