Hello everyone,
a while ago carrier IQ was detected as a huge privacy problem in lots of Android distributions. Thanks to many developers there are methods to detect it quite easily.
checks with e.g. the voodoo carrier IQ detector say that the Samsung Galaxy Note isn't affected.
However as I detected with the "Androids secret" app (currently on the front page of XDA), there are classes on the device suggesting that carrier IQ is on the Note.
So is the software just not active or is it active and the detector apps are just not able to detect them? Attached is a screenshot of the app "Android secrets" showing the presence of carrier IQ classes on the SGN.

Does anyone know more about this?
bump for good question. where did you source your note?
I should add: it's stock ROM LB1 DBT, no carrier restriction.
Depending on the model it may or may not have the OTA installed. It might have the firmware installed at the chip level just not the OTA agent, so it doesn't show up wit the detectors. Of course the carrier could simply push an update to install the OTA at any time. They could also remove an agent as well like Sprint did. Great PR move on their part, but putting the agent back is just as easy.
@sanchanim: Thanks for your reply.
Since this is an original Stock ROM without any carrier restriction it is Samsung who put Carrier IQ onto the device. The question is: Is the software just a relict of old times or is it indeed active?
If that's the case, a lot of people are affected (again)..

To make a long story short, a relative bought a phone off ebay that was in Retail/Demo mode and I was tasked with trying to get it out of that state by flashing a different stock ROM onto it. I used to have absolutely no issue before with older phones, but, after a few softboots with no success, I've eventually ended up reaching this far in nuking the phone, and even the IMEI in download mode is showing a 0 (though I'm not sure if that wasn't always like that).
From what I've seen the phone is certainly the Snapdragon variant, and yet there was no way to activate OEM unlocking within the phone. I know this situation is rather insane and I could be SOL but here's to hoping someone could point me in a direction to help fix this thing. I haven't tried flashing the unofficial TWRP in fear that it's going to screw over my recovery (in which I forgot to mention it works perfectly fine at the moment). Alongside with the security error, I have the secure check fail with modem displaying as well. Is there a certain ROM version that might help? I've attached a screenshot that I took right before I fell into the abyss, so hopefully that'll help (unless you can't see it out of me being new). Thanks for any replies in advance.

With the recent official Lineage build for Z3C, I imported a cheap 5803 from Hong Kong to play around with. Installed Lineage, and noticed I was only getting an Edge connection on T-Mobile. Re-installed a "stock" ROM via Flashtool/Xperifirm, and the problem persisted. I've had two 5803's in the past, with the same carrier, and had no problems with the data connection. Going into the "Configuration" service menu, I looked at the available bands, and it seems like lots are missing (basing my expectations on FrequencyCheck). Am I confused, or is there something wrong/different with this phone?

Service Info > Model Info shows D5803?
That's the confusing thing, the settings do show model D5803. After searching the forums more, I found another thread from a user that has a similar problem: https://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/help/d6603-brand-device-basebands-missing-t3316118 -- phone flashed with a different model firmware. I guess the person I bought from was dodgy.
The only thing I can think of is:
in the compartment where the SIM card is, there is a white plastic slip that you can pull out. It will have the model number on it. Mine specifically says "Model: D5803". You have to pull the strip almost all the way out to read it.
I recommend using a pin to pull it out. There's a little hole/slit that you can poke the pin through. Do it slowly and avoid pulling the slip all the way out, as I suspect it would be difficult to slide back in if you pull it out too far.
Hi,
It might be a silly question, because I have only sees knox-disabled ROMs so far..
But I have a S10e thats for work, with work-apps that my company controls. In the default OneUI (and Lawnchair)-launcher, I have another tab with apps called "work", and they are all locked, and it says "secured by Knox".
See here:

So, I really want to know if I can root and install custom rom while still using it the same way as I do now?
With the work-apps etc thats "powered by Knox" I mean?
TLDR; Amy ROMs with Knox enabled?
If not, will my work-apps still work? (Look screenshot).
Thank you for reading!
Well I do know that for work whenyou install the light rom by yosh92 it will ask you if you need the Knox framework or something like that, which is used for some work apps, however this does not mean that it will work. Since tripping knox is a one way trip, you have to make sure that it works. Please ask ok the forums for light rom and for deluxe rom I believe 2 different developers, 2 different rooms but those two will have the framework and I believe deluxe rom will have some extra compatibility to knox. Remember to comment back your findings. Have a nice day!
Found a link for you!

Do check if yours is compatible
I purchased a Samsung Galaxy FE unlocked, in Mexico, from a legitimate seller (Amazon). Of course, I was aware of the 4G only and Exynos processor situation, but still, it was fine for my regular needs.
The S20 FE was wrapped in the original sealed packing, so it looked well. However, when I opened it, the charger was not American type but European. That was weird... I initialized the phone and was fine. I started to install all my stuff, but when I tried to configure Samsung Pay, it said that the service was not supported on my phone (see picture 1).

It was wrong because, in Mexico, we have Samsung Pay. So I did some research, and I found that my phone was from Chile looking at the service provider software version (see picture 2).
The CHO code is for Chile.
Since asking for a phone change will take a long and, besides that, the phone works fine, I prefer to change the service provider software version to a Mexican one. Is it possible to do that? If so, does it make my phone "Mexican", so I can use SamsungPay? Please let me know.
¡¡Gracias!!
did you find any solutions?
It is totally possible to just download the correct firmware and flashing it with Odin, should hopefully fix problems like this. The OP was right, the phone was grabbing Chilean CSC and applying its regional configurations.
@abaceromx21 boot into download mode and take a look at the Knox counter.
Hello there.
I am still rather new to android but understand some things. For example, I have note 10 pro with Arrow OS installed on it. Wanted it for privacy (thanks xioami, had to give them all details to unlock bootloader, woops) and get rid of bloat.
I have noticed on my last charge that microg services seem to be running. Which seems odd to me as I have disabled it (from settings app), and don't have many apps which need it. (ones which do are disabled also)
So my question is, what could be cause for it using 33℅ battery?! And where can I get further logs to understand what's going on.
If I'm running 33℅ on service I don't use, then that could be extra day or 2 for me not charging.
Pictures for reference

Here's just showing its run as a background app.
Sorry for noob first question, with full ambiguity. Please be gentle
I have come to realise that I may have disabled it, but I have rebooted my phone a few times so it probably would re-enable.
Question still stands, can I get further logs to understand why its using 33%? Thanks
Try investigate further with betterbatterystats (grab it from xda or play store). Grant any permissions that requires (root isn't mandatory). In my old experience with microg, it might be caused by the cloud messaging service, try to increase the ping intervals to 10 minutes or greater. But your case might different.
