I wanted to flash CyanogenMod 7.1 on my Samsung Galaxy S.
I flashed before a Froyo Bootloader (because I had Firmware 2.3.3) on it, copied the CM7.1 Rom on internal storage and tried to flash through Recovery.
While updating it shows me the install process till:
Checking state of BML/MTD
then it interruptes the install process and restarts the phone. But then it just shows me the Samsung logo and nothing happens (=freeze).
No chance to start the phone, altough I restart it several times.
Then I can flash again with Odin to the starting state again. The files for that I found here (german):

How can I flash CM7.1 now..?
Sometimes the cm7 rom will need flashed twice....you should be able to flash from any gingerbread rom also as cm7 was updated a while back to allow this. Try again, and if the phone starts bootlooping-pull the battery, replace and get into recovery-then reflash rom.
Unfortunately i cant enter recovery after unsuccessful flash. I have to use odin and flash back to old froyo... then i tried to reflash again to cm7.1 but it was always the same.
Thx anyway for ur answer...!
Hmmmmm ;(

no ideas? it is urgent.. ;(
it's really strange. it happened to me and I solved like this:
I removed the battery
volume up key + power button + home button
in recovery,I wipe everything and reflash of the rom
If recovery doesn't work, you need to reflash a stock rom, and a kernel with root and CWM
puuhh, at least another one who had this issue...
ok i understood that if i cant flash to cm7.1 then i have to chosse another rom, maybe just a stock rom.
but can anybody recommend a custom rom which will work? it is just a file system problem here, isnt it?
Done it!
Trying to flash the stable Rom didnt work.
Then i tried the nightly (181) and it took a while then it restarted. but when it was starting for the first time i got a loop while booting.
but this time i could enter the recovery (after stable installation it wasnt possible anymore) and i could reflash it (nightly again). and this time it worked!!! yeah finally after over 8 hours of work....
i hope i could help somebody who has got same issues
Glad you got it -and cm9 is now an easy upgrade from the latest nightly

Hi all,
My dad has a galaxy s. Since the stock samsung firmware is pretty bad, I installed darky's ultimate rom v10.2 on his phone, about a week ago. I have a galaxy s2, running miui, and my dad liked the interface.. so he asked me: can I have that too?
So I said, sure! I wiped his phone with clockworkmod, and flashed the miui zip. (After backing up darky's firmware offcourse)
But.. after about 1 hour of usage, he didn't like miui anymore, so he asked me if I could restore to darky's rom... so.. I went to clockworkmod, and hit the restore button. Unfortunately, it gave an error, saying something about "can't restore boot"
I tried it again.. same error.
Luckilly, I had another backup, of the stock rom, before i flashed darky. So I tried to restore that backup..
I don't know what happened, but clockworkmod doesn't work anymore. Everytime i try to do something, it keeps giving errors about unable to mount this, unable to mount that, bla bla bla.
And the phone wont boot..
However, i'm still able to access download mode.
So i think it's possible to restore it completely, but can you guys give me some advice? What should I flash with odin, and can you provide a link?
I'm really hoping for a quick respond because my dad is not happy with his phone being "dead".
Thanks in advance!

Are you sure Miui is not based on something other then samsung? Maybe you should try and flash a stock firmware (e.g. 2.3.4), then root for CWM, and restore that way?
Ok, you have to know:
For MIUI you just need a GB-bootloader as base and you can easily flash MIUI through CWM. But MIUI (and CM7 too) don't use the RFS-filesystem as Samsung-based ROMs (they use MTD/yaffs2 as the Nexus). So you can't restore Darky easily.
But you can do this:
- Reboot into download mode (3-button-combo)
- Flash any Samsung-based stock-FW with Odin
- Flash any kernel which fits your GB-firmware and which includes CWM
- Restore your Darky-backup through CWM
For stock go to http://www.darkyrom.com/community/index.php?threads/odin-darkyrom-10-2-resurrection-gt-i9000.4272/
Download and follow the steps in the thread, voila, recovery done
If u wanna go back to Darky's u can check Darky's ROM 10.2 Resurrection. But just for a clean install i would flash a stock JVQ first and then install Darky's.
Thanks for the reply's everyone, gonna try it this evening, when i'm home

EDIT: Solved!
Trying to install the Cynogen ICS ROM, and when installing the .zip, it loads the Samsung flash screen with Cynogen, then get the green guy and loads of text for about half a second, then it just reboots. Over and over for about 10 mins. WHat went wrong? What should I do?
It happend the same to me.
I just removed the battery and put it back, entered in CWM and reinstalled the ROM.
Good luck!
I somehow got into a recovery mode, but with the assumption it would all go wrong again, tried to install the .zip Darky rom instead, went through the process and said it worked but then it just went back to the Cynogen loop problem!? I just tried a Restore instead, but I haven't rebooted yet, should I wipe everything again, and try the ICM .zip again?
Yep, just go with the whipe. I hope you did a backup.
OK turns out the Restore failed, so now trying to reinstall ICS .zip again. fingers crossed!
yep backed it up, not that its seems to have helped.
Well now it's stuck in the Galaxy S bootscreen...
that really sucks....did you deactivated the lagfix before running the rom?
If the problem persists you have to run a basic ROM using ODIN.
Yes deactivated the lagfixI can't get into recovery or anything now, except download mode.
Download mode is all you need to run a ROM with Odin.
I recommend Amestris, it is a good ROM, good battery life but the thread in not complete, there are some files missing...for now.
I've put some older ROM on I had, then tried to install ICS again but now when I use Clockwork, and select the file it goes to recovery but I can't select any zip files, just reboot back to this awful old ROM!
I had same issue when I installed ics, what I did that worked was pull battery and go back into cwm, reflashed ics zip and it fully installed that time. Had same experience when flashing cm7 before.
Not getting anywhere with this. I get an option to install zip from sdcard which is where the update is (an where the darky update also is which worked), but there is an option to update from internal SD, which is not where the file is. Is it in the wrong place?
I think you would be best to use Odin 1.3 to flash DarkyROM Ficeto JVT base rom.
are you sure those files are still on your sd card?
The reason you need to pull the battery and reflash the ICS rom a few times is because Samsung ROM (most) have a different partition layout to CM7 based roms (which the ICS port is one).

My phone was bricked yesterday. Then I used SMF to recover, so I turned back to v10a. (from smart flash tool)
Installed Rom manager rooted and installed marvel rom.
Then I tried miui 2.1 rom.
Then i tried to restore my backup(marvel) what i did with rom manager. Phone bricked again.(Blue screen on android)
Then I used SMF to recover again. --> v10a.
Now in rom manager pressin flash cwm button in menu but nothing happens. I rooted phone. Root is workin well in other programs like Titanum. Tried reboot into recovery causes factory reset bcs of cwm i think.
Any way to solve this problem? Or can I install zipaligned rom like marvel, zeus without cwm? Like S/E tool. Power + volumeUp...
Did you do all the wipes before flashing the rom?
Didn't you missed any step?
I cant see even recovery menu. To wipe data/dalvik.
I coulnt flas cwm, so when Im trying to do reboot into recovery via Rom Manager, skips that menu(controlled with volume and power buttons dont know the name) and v10 is booting with factory reset.
Do you have an internet connection when trying to flash cwm?

Just root it again, reboot, install busybox, reboot, install cwm and all should work just fine

Yes I had internet. I installed Rom Manager from market.
I will follow this link. It gives you offical 20o Rom rooted and touch version of cwm. Hope it will work for me.
And I realized that I really missed LG's UI.

You probably forgot "wiping" before restoring your nandroid. Any this shall be a lesson. From now on you won't forget.
had the same problem before, i always had a bug installing CWM, caused factory reset everytime , but when i downloaded it again it works well..

I've never wiped before restoring a nandroid, and believe me I've flashed my OB a lot while i was debuting my Lezo mod.

I solved the problem. Now I have offical 20o ROM offical and rooted. Happy with that. Until stable CM7 or MIUI release I will stop trying ROMS.
Hi,
I was running cm9 successfully for about 2 months, I would get occasions where the screen would go black and unresponsive. I had to pull the battery and reboot and it would be fine. I thought this was fairly normal for a cm9 nightly as it didn't happen very often. A few days ago this happened to me, and upon pulling the battery and rebooting, the phone just went into bootloops. I could not access cwm, so had to flash JW5 via odin, rooted it and attempted to flash cm9 again, this too results in bootloops.
Can anybody help? Being stuck with Samsung firmware is such a regression after having used cm9.
I've tried the same 2.3.6 firmware i installed with an older cm9 nightly which i know worked when i flashed it but get the same results.
Help me please.
Rob.
If you lose recovery you can usually get it back by flashing the semaphore kernel .tar in Odin
First Download and flash cm7 (Download From their official site). Thema cm9 : 100% works 4 me. Or look in The nighty thread and read The instructions

lol wish I knew that before, must have flashed Samsung 2.3.6 fully a good 10 times. Got it working now though, had to flash cm9 3 times in total; first time it flashes really quick and reboots into cwm with errors, then i had to flash it again twice and it installed properly. (I was only flashing it again once after the initial error).
I had this problem too. First, you don't need to remove battery, holding the Power-button will restart your phone even if it hangs. I never got the data back after the boot-loops. I recommend using titanium backup, I have it set to backup all my data every second night, so I can keep almost all my application data even if the nightly was bad.
Hi i have the i9001, I rooted the phone earlier and all was fine, I then went to install cwm via odin using the 2 files and it flashed them and the phone rebooted back into android where it then said pass on odin even though it timed out? i tried booting into cwm and was succesful so thought nothing of it and backed up my rom and then flashed real rom.
and now my phone will only boot into cwm and thats it and after while will turn off and reboot into cwm and it will keep doing this.
I have no sd card installed. and i still have the problem when i restore the stock rom.
Any help guys as this isnt my phone?
This happened to me on my I9000 so might work. My solution was to wipe data/cache partition/dalvik again in cwm, re flash new ROM and reboot, if back into cwm then repeat. Took me 3 repeats then booted fine. Happened as I upgraded from stock GB 2.3.6 to CM10.

Yes that normal if you want to upgrade from GB zu JB. Because of first the change of the kernel respectivly the change to new CWM, and then for the new partitionlayout, you have to flash 2 or sometimes even 3 times the rom of your choice and then it should boot....!
