It is official. No ICS for the rev. (we all knew it but Verizon has now confirmed it)
http://phandroid.com/2012/03/06/ver...devices-to-receive-ice-cream-sandwich-update/
That is a little annoying considering my Revo is only 3 months old and now its at EOL and no ICS.
Yeah we all got duped by Verizon and LG on this one. I will be passing on any of their smart phones ever again. Even if they do the next Nexus. Sticking to HTC or Motorola.
What ever
If you read the article I posted they are still adding 4G devices to the list eventually more of there phones will have it simply because there are no 3G devices on the list you think its 4G only? Read the link on tomshardware!!!

You lost me at the 4G only part. Neither of us mentioned 3G/4G anywhere. I just stated that Verizon so far is passing on the Revo for ICS upgrade and that I will never buy another LG smart phone (3G or 4G) again.
And while they may still add the REVO to the list, most people will be ready for their upgrade by then making it pointless.
Got until about the following April for my next phone so I'll be stuck with this phone for quite awhile.

There is a 3g device on the list. The HTC Incredible 2 is 3g.
I wouldn't count on the revolution getting ics, officially or unofficially. At least not a properly working version. This was Verizon's red headed stepchild of their LTE phones.

Will there be a nexus cdma subforum when it is released for sprint? Also if others are interested. I spoke with a sprint rep using the chat feature on the sprint web site. I had read on their release about the nexus that it has to be purchased through google. So I asked if we would be able to use our upgrade rebates and his response was:
"Once the pricing will be declared for this phone, we could be able to help you with upgrade rebates."
Haven't seen or heard the Nexus on Sprint. If so, they would have to redo everything into CDMA instead of GSM. As of now, I've heard of it going to Verizon and Vodafone
Yep it is coming to sprint:
http://newsreleases.sprint.com/phoe...ol-newsArticle_newsroom&ID=1403426&highlight=
It took about two months for the nexus to show up on att after showing up on t-mobile.
Expect the same time frame after it's available on verizon for it to show up on sprint.
Er, they already have. Verizon is CDMA. Android already supports it, and they need only swap the QSD8250 for the QSD8650 and a few GSM parts for their CDMA equivalents.
It won't be nearly as long (for technical reasons, anyway) between VZW and Sprint since they share frequencies.
if I were you and I already had sprint I'd wait for the HTC Evo 4G.
I love my N1, but being this close to the time 4G is available why not wait a couple months?
True... but if you are willing to wait, then wait for T-mobile to release HSPDA it should br faster than 4G, scheduled to come out this year. Sprint Evo is a great phone, but I think it won't get updates as fast as the nexus one, it being HTCs and not Google.

The dual-core Optimus 2X may not have hit the shelves yet, but LG has alledgedly began working on its sequel.
According to reports, the Korean manufacturer is working on the “LG P999″, a 3G-enabled Android smartphone. Although unconfirmed, its name suggests a bump up from the Optimus 2X, otherwise known as the P990.
From its leaked documentation, the handset has been confirmed as packing Bluetooth, 3G and WiFi connectivity, with 4G speeds available in the States. Sources also claim it will land with Android 2.2 with an imminent upgrade to Gingerbread, and from a benchmark scores list, it’s likely to feature a dual-core processor.
No word on when we’ll be seeign the LG P999, although it’s rumoured to to landing within the next few months. Don’t go getting too excited, as some sources are claiming the handset will be a regional variant of the LG Optimus 2X. Only time will tell…

I'm a bit sad that USA carriers are abusing the term 4G. 4G is LTE Advanced (and WiMAX?). Not LTE and especially not HSPA is 4G.
Can't post links yet, but just google "ITU World Radiocommunication Seminar highlights future communication technologies".
So what technology are you talking about for the US market? WiMAX?
That depends on what carrier is going to offer it. There are some rumors it might be t-mobile so its going to be HSPA+.
ITU also said that HSPA+ can be called 4G.

I have the RAZR i (XT890) now unlocked for T-mobile and am trying to get my 4G to work
Is this possible?
I also got my wife the LG Optimus 4X HD and would like to do the same. I dont like having such powerful phones and no 4G
Er, no. Razr i is not 4G compatible as it says in the phone specs. It does work very well on 3g - way better than my previous HTC and Samsung phones.
Sent from my XT890 using xda premium
Remember that t-mobile has a tendency to label its 3g+ network as 4g so if you are getting real slow speeds chances are that you are on 2g. Though you still have the problem with the fact that most of t-mobiles 3g network is located on the 1700 AWS band that the razr i doesn't support.http://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_razr_i_xt890-4998.php
Tmo is in the process of changing some of its 1700 3g into 1900 3g which your phone does support, but until then you are basically stuck on 2g. Mattlgroff or some other Razr buff probably can tell you more, since i live in sweden

I'm on the fence about picking up a RAZR i, but there was one new tower reported in my area a couple of days ago!!

I know VZW sucks when it comes to updates and everything. But I was hoping the nexus 4 would have 4G LTE...now that I have had LTE i can't go back.
I could see it "maybe" coming to vzw and other carriers like that down the road. Google playing it smart to roll unlocked first then go from there. In all aspects GSM is cheaper in many ways.
#Galaxy Nexus HSPA+
Google's relationship with Verizon has been strained to say the least. I doubt you'll ever see the two working together in the life time of the Nexus 4.
Honestly I'd be surprised if Google even bothered to support US CDMA carriers at all.

Same, left Verizon after the OG Droid to T-Mobile for all the nexus phones following it. So glad I did. Costs me less than 1/2 the cost I was paying at verizon monthly as well
Yeah what about sprint too. But sprint lte is taking forever it is a mile away from me and the speeds are not even that great. Don't think its fully launched but knowing sprint for 11 years speed has never been there thing. Switching to T-Mobile soon

Yesterday, I played around with my N4 and installed some Custom ROMs. I decided to go back to
stock ROM and only found a 404-Error for the factory images on the official Google site.
Today, I wanted to check, whether the link is fixed. To my surprise, Google completely removed the
the factory image for N4. Not a single word about it. Look here: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
Anyone got a clue, why?
Update:
As usual, JBQ from Google couldn't comment on the issue.
Mirrored Stock Firmware:
http://www.randomphantasmagoria.com/firmware/nexus-4/occam/
4.2.1 md5: 9f39365c4eb0aba843fefabd5423802d
The question is... will they inform the reason why it has been removed? Or they also will will keep silence with this?
Maybe its somewhat related to nexus 4 not being included in aosp.........

Very kind :good:. But I already got it from a mirror.
I believe there will be an update, too. If they remove and stop offering
prior versions due to an update, the prior version should have had some
grave bugs (e.g., missing december). I cannot spot any serious bugs
in the 4.2.1 release, though.
It's removed likely because it contains LTE code and it's not a LTE certified device.. Removing it is legally the correct thing to do, and then when they are ready, replace it with a version that better locks out the LTE functionality.

It has nothing to do with LTE code. The band 4 LTE functionality is built into the LTE chip on the Qualcomm board and has nothing to do with android. Anyways Google has license agreements to include LTE in android as it needs it for AT&T and Verizon phones. It wasn't because of these licenses they excluded LTE from the Nexus it had more to do with Verizon being a pain in the ass to deal with not to mention the added costs of having to add a CDMA chip to the device. It was just easier to go with GSM for now and include LTE in the Nexus 5 next year when more carriers actually have it.
Has nothing to do with LTE. licensing is paid when LG decides to use the SoC

There was a bug in the 4.2.1 image that didn't allow OTA updates to apply.

Doesn't work that way, the FCC has to certify the device for LTE operation. You can't just grab some parts and start broadcasting in certain frequencies without a license and CERTIFICATION. The Nexus 4 is NOT a LTE certified device and therefore operating as such is illegal (at least in the USA).
Check out the certifications for any phone on FCC.gov and you'll see certs for WIFI, GSM, UMTS and LTE seperately if they have all of them. GSM in 850mhz can be fine but UMTS in the same frequency is all screwed up and causing interference which is bad and therefore the device wouldn't be certified for the USA (via FCC).
https://apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/repo...rame=N&application_id=278241&fcc_id='ZNFE960' - Check the FCC Test Report - It only shows, GSM, WCDMA, WIFI, BT, NFC.
Here you can see the AT&T LTE Samsung SGS3
https://apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/repo...ame=N&application_id=895441&fcc_id=a3lsphl710 - Look at the SAR testing which clearly shows LTE being tested
While I don't that's why they removed them, i'd say it's a good guess.
EDIT- If you are still not convinced here's the LG Optimus G for AT&T w/LTE
https://apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/repo...Frame=N&application_id=214715&fcc_id='ZNFE970'
Mentions LTE in the report (click Test Report) since it was tested for and certified for LTE.
