[Q] Guide To Theming ICS ROMs - Captivate Themes and Apps

I've themed the heck out of Gingerbread ROMs and have figured out a lot about theming Ice Cream Sandwich ROMs, but I still need a bit of help, please.
I have searched and googled. Can someone tell me what file in the framework-res.apk is responsible for background colors within settings, power menu, etc?
Basically I'd like to change grey to black as in the example below:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}

Continued searching brings up guides on how to theme GB to look like ICS. Perhaps it's the same files for both GB and ICS?
Thanks in advance.

its basically the same, but some names changed as ICS has the standard " holo theme ".
to decompile and re-compile without error you must update the AAPT.exe file used by your akp editor.

menu font colors

Hey does anyone know what file in a rom defines what color the text in the menu is?
I was working on my rom and I did a bunch of editing to PNG files and a bit of XML and I can't find the file to change the color of the text in the menu. This is what happened accidentally when I changed some files...

i need to know the exact same thing .. im trying to get white text on menus
same here, Dell Streak Gingerbread theme black text=no good.
I heard its pretty involved to do, the creator of the gingerstreak theme said he would update it but its been a week already.
I just did this tonight. It requires a lot of work. You have to decompile the framework-res.apk using APKManager. Then, find and edit res/values/styles.xml. Recompile and resign the app. Simply unzipping the .apk with 7zip isn't enough, you need to actually decompile and recompile it. And when you get APKTool make sure you get the 1.3.1 deprecated one, not the newest 1.3.2 version or you will bootloop.
You have to combine the posts from these 2 threads, they are very short.

Android 2.3 complete look with Cyanogenmod 7

Many of you unaware that the look of Cyanogenmod 7 doesn't represent the look of Android 2.3, with only the top bar looking like it did in 2.3 the rest is ADWLauncher, So with ADWlauncher ex you can customize the look more, And what i'm after is the remaining 2 things i need.

As you can see the dock isn't really the same as it is in 2.3 so anyone out there with the right file?
Also the drawer icon is low quality, all i need are those 2 items, please help me find them.
Did you try just taking the images directly out of a Gingerbread launcher.apk?
While I'm here, love the use of the new Chrome icon for the browser - would you mind uploading it?
EDIT: After fishing through a Gingerbread launcher.apk, it seems the dock background is actually made of multiple images, since there's no single .png for it. The app drawer icon's an easy find, though. I'll upload the apk for you.
Have you thought of using the gingerbread launcher instead of adw.?

As i am trying to change the LG Contact (DIALER) Theme, i guess you could be the right person here to help me out.
I cannot find a way to change the bottom background bar, even if i change in transparent the green background of the icon icbtn_dial_action_green_normal i can see a grey background there.
I'll post the image so that you can better understand what i am saying.
Thanks in advance!

I believe there something else is in xml anchors icsuche sometimes oran this could lie
buttonbar
so you have to get 2 different möglichkeiten around it away
1. everybody removes hintergründe and with him pay pad adds.
heist you not only they pay sees separate completten knopf (button and icon
2. you must work on with draw 9 icons
Thank you for your help! BTW i know how to edit, patch and compile .9.png image , but here the big problem is that i cannot change any xml because Contacs.apk (LG) doesn't decompile through apk_manager i think because of some dependee...
That said, even if i manage to change the backgroud btn there is still a portion of screen that has a different colour that should be changed in some xml.

[Q] Gingerbread Accents Color?

I want to change the golden yellow accents that go with the stock gingerbread theme. I'm talking about the color that comes up when you hit the top or bottom when scrolling through a list, or the color of the corrective text suggestions. I recently used CyanogenMod-7.0.3 and the accent colors were green on the Androdian theme. I am aware that CM7 is required for most of the themes, but I do not want to use any rom other than stock. So if you know if this is possible to just extract the accent colors from the theme please let me know. I appreciate any suggestions. BTW my phone is rooted and I have an unlocked boot loader.
Try using UOT Kitchen.

Thanks that helps me with the scrolling bar, but do you have any ideas about how to change other elements such as the corrective text color and the color displayed when a selection is made on the phone?
I don't know how but, I think you could look into ZipThemer or MetaMorph for that.
EDIT: I was curious about this and I'm pretty sure MetaMorph is your best bet. Look at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=589315
I'm going to try it out when I get a chance.
Thanks again. I'll take a crack at it tomorrow.
The majority of what you are wanting to change is within framework-res.apk.
Thank you! I thought I found something in LatinIME too.

Yeah I found mine in the framework apk and it was named overscroll. Here is what mine looks like. I'm working on a red demonic theme so I figured this fits...

I found this for themed keyboards. It seems MetaMorph is no good for keyboards. This should do, though.

Wow some of the keyboards are pushing 7-8 mbs in size...something is off there as I themed my own which is included in my theme and its under 2mb...

transitions in the menu settings are too forced, are not well synchronized, it is as strange and really seems strange to change screens to see if I can narrow down these transitions. And if I make a suggestion, the circular battery icon should have a blue tint instead of blue, more in line with notificiaciones window, but this is an opnion
A greeting and thanks.
I want a gingerbread themed status bar for stock rom but can't figure the kitchen out
