[Q] Galaxy Mini firmware backup, non-intrusively? - Samsung Galaxy Mini

[Q]How to dump previously unreleased firmware without installing anything on the Mini?
Hello,
I've been following xda-developers for over a month reading stickies, guides in stickies and searching for threads for threads. It's been useful indeed for my first Mini.
Now the question is: Is there any way to backup a firmware / rom withouth installing any software on the Mini?
I've noticed the firmware in my brand new Mini is not listed in droidangel (recommended visit in a sticky)
therefore I think it might be a good idea to back it up and share.
Backing up using CWM implies installing CWM in the Mini. So then maybe the firmware backup up would NOT be a pristine byte-to-byte copy of the factory-default firmware? Since intalling CWM would imply modifying the Mini as it is.
I know, this sounds psycho, to a certain extent, but I'd like to know beforehand.
Greetings to all!

Could U please post the screenshot "About" the phone in settings.
Just press home + power buttons (simultaneously) to take a snap, then pin it here.
and the memory snaps in "task manager" & "application settings"
This is to know the firmware and the fresh internal memory & ram usage of the phone

Hello VR.gtmini and all,
Sure, pm'ed to you. You'll notice the sticker on top of the screen. It's brand new and no SIM has been inserted so as not to alter internal settings whatsoever.
By the way, I just can't post image links. I'm a new user: "To prevent spam to the forums, ALL new users are not permitted to post outside links in their messages. After approximately eight posts, you will be able to post outside links. Thanks for understanding!"
Greetings,
edit: I should like to add:
There's three firmwares at droidangel matching pda: S5570XWKQG, namely:
Europe firmware
Country: UK
and
Provider firmware
Country|Provider: United Kingdom (Carphone Warehouse)
Country|Provider: United Kingdom (O2)
However, there's no firmeware matching phone S5570XWKQ5 or csc S5570YOGKQ3.
edit: Plus, at sammobile there's 5 firmwares matching pda S5570XWKQG...
pda - android - date - csc - country/carrier
S5570XWKQG 2.3.6 2011 September S5570TMHKQ1 Hungary (T-mobile)
S5570XWKQG ## 2.3.4 2011 October S5570XEUKP1 Europe
S5570XWKQG ## 2.3.6 2011 October S5570CPWKP1 United Kingdom (Carphone Warehouse)
S5570XWKQG ## 2.3.5 2011 October S5570XEUKP1 Europe
S5570XWKQG ## 2.3.6 2011 November S5570O2UKQ4 United Kingdom (O2)
none of them matching csc S5570YOGKQ3, though.

[Q] Noob Firmware Update

Hello everyone,
I just received my Galaxy I9000, and made sure i can access the Download Mode and the Recovery Mode using the 3 button combos explained in the wiki.
I bought this phone in the united states, as an unlocked phone. Since i live in South America (Ecuador to be exact), i don't have an official version for this market and i'm using this international version I9000.
Checked the Firmware version installed and is the following:
PDA: I9000BUJP7
Phone: I9000BUJP5
CSC: I9000GVD2JP5
Build Info: 2010.10
Also checked the unlock status:
Personalization Status
Network Lock: OFF
Network Subset Lock: OFF
SP Lock: OFF
CP Lock: OFF
My phone's firmware is a provider one (Vodafone), looked in samfirmware to check for new firmwares, but i need some advice:
First, since my phone has a provider specific firmware, can i flash my phone with a "generic" samsung firmware?
If so which ones should i choose the European versions or the America/Australia firmwares??
I see in the list for europa versions this one as the last:
I9000XWJS8 ## 512.PIT Version 2.2.1
And for america this one:
I9000BVJJPD ## 512.PIT Version 2.2 2010 December
I was tempted to go for the european version but im just not shure.
Also what about the MODEM/CSC, do i need to flash those too? since those are also customized versions from the provider?
I dont mind loosing all the samsung apps, and the vodaphone ones, as they are pretty useless here.
Any advice on what is the best path to go from here is appreciated.
I bought this phone so i can learn to develop for android but im really new to this world.
Thanks
Search up goots tutorial. I think the CsC version just determines which stock apps get installed when you flash to be honest, I picked xeu because it's Europe generic but I dont think it matters
The froyo I had from goots link had multi CSC and you could pick and choose
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
You can use latest European version np. Im on it now but im from Europe but was on JPG 1 week ago and its from Asia. CSC is what gives you your APN for data traffic and the keyboard languages included but u can swap that easily using the Romkitchen or u can input your provider data manualy. Modem is your wifi, data network and gps driver you can use any the one from JS8 is very good so is JPG one. With modem its possible that with JQ1 u cant acces the 850mhz band immediatly but there are allreadu solutions to fix that on this forum.
Best advice i can give u is follow this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=926399
If u have more questions join us on IRC:
Server: chat.freenode.net
Channel: #romkitchen
Url: irc://chat.freenode.net/romkitchen
webchat: http://webchat.freenode.net
Thanks for the help, i will go through the goots tutorial as advised also ill read the Perka's link posted.
And for sure ill join IRC, thanks for the help ill be going through this process along the day (it's morning here)

[Q] Upgrading to Gingerbread without messing up Kies

Hi all,
I would love to upgrade my P1000 to Gingerbread.
At the moment the infos about my device are:
PDA: P1000XWJMI
PHONE: P1000XXJMA
CSC: P1000CPWJM2
This is what I see pressing *#1234#
Now the About Device menu says:
Model: GT-P1000
FW: 2.2
Baseband: P1000XXJMA
Kernel: 2.6.32.9
Build: FROYO.XWJMI
As stated above I would like to upgrade to a stock gingerbread release so that Kies does not say unable to update your phone. I guess I need proper files to do that. Can anyone address me to the right links and of course the steps to do it via Odin (what to check/unchek etc)?
Thanks in advance,
Fed.
Read the development section. There are PLENTY of posts on how to do it.
Sorry, but the forum is full of posts and i can't find specific threads for my issue. Informations are here and there and as you know understanding one little bit badly could make me brick my P1000. I would need to know what software to use so that the phone regional settings do not mess with Kies. If possible a link to a post (or more posts) and links to softwares are welcome.
Oh, knowing how to make a dump of my actual ROM would not be bad if anyone can help.
Your present firmware XWJMI is European(Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom).....
Unfortunately there is still no official upgrade for your region from Samsung so whatever ROM you flash whether from this forum or elsewhere, Kies will always see it as "cannot be updated".
Unless you want to try the Asian firmware-like I have.......

[Q] NOOB QUERY: Android Firmware Region (Please answer)

I have bought my samsung Galaxy S GT i9000 from middle east...and currently i am in Bangladesh (Southern asia)..
Q.1 - Can i Select Any Firmware of version 2.3.3 from samfirware.com or Should i select the "I9000JPJV6 " (JP is from arabic Region) (because i read somewhere the region code should be matched...)
Q.2 - Will my all functionality work ? Or there will be problem due to XX or JP firmware ?
Q.3 - is JPJV6 full arabic ?
Please answer me...this my my first help post..
Thanks in advance
As long as your phone is unlocked any I9000 firmware will work. I've changed roms a ton to ones from different regions and the only problem has every been the modem as I have an I9000T(850mhz enabled modems) which doesn't apply as you have the I9000.
So:
Q1 Yes(2.3.4 JVP is newer than 2.3.3 roms though)
Q2 Shouldn't be any problem
Q3 Sorry have no idea, you'll just have to try it out.

Same Question
I don't get it, why to have the stock ROM thread in Development section eh? Nothing was developed here so it should be in General section.

Umm, so why is there a sticky on stock roms in the dev section. I am sure if a mod wants to move it, rest assured they will...
Maybe all these release is bug fix for different operator

A thread Nazi won't confess a mistake, Sir.
Still getting used to Note forum after coming from SGS2 forum. Bear with me.

We've had it like that since at least 2006.... besides you can have a look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18798766&postcount=1
I installed the Hong Kong LA2, and its pretty much all the good bits from LA4.
It does seem to be pretty snappy right off the bat with the stock kernel, although the touch screen sensitivity seems to have gone to pot. Easy fix though.
Think I will rest with this until ICS comes, maybe with Abyss for the CMW recovery.
So for example, the one from Emirate is not last one because it is LA2 ... the last one is LA4 like the one from Germany right?
Well, the numbers don't mean much. The emirates one is essentially LA4, but customised for UAE region and operator. I.e. Languages, keyboards, and possibly an appropriate modem
An example is the LA2 Hong Kong ROM includes all the features on LA4, but includes the Chinese language options and keyboards
hkgrob,
Following the thread that I wrote (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1356325), newer versions should be at least LA7 (we have had LA6 Serbian verion posted a day or two ago) or LBsomething. Any other version would not add anything to the system itself but probably correct some local issues.
Maybe including this correction on an LA6 or newer system would be nice then
Thanks @The_Steph, good thread. My explanation to ashkan was possibly over simplified.
My experience in flashing to the latest Hong Kong firmware just to test, is that it is essentially LA4 localized.
Lets hope these are the last firmwares for GB... Samsung seems to have been busy over the last few days
Side note, I think your code for Hong Kong in the thread is incorrect, as it should be ZS, not ZC

[Q] Update P1000 to gingerbread ?

Hi.
Since I'm new at this kind of thing I could use some advice from you smart people.
My firmware is still on Froyo, and I have been waiting for an official update on Kies for long time, but nothing happened. So I went checking today if it's available for my country (which is Croatia).
And it seems there have been 2 updates since Froyo: Croatia (T-Mobile) CRO – P1000BOJPD / P1000CROJPA (Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread
and
Croatia (T-Mobile) CRO – P1000BOJQ3 / P1000CROJPA (Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread
Considering I didn't get any update from Kies, I guess my tab hasn't been distributed by T-Mobile.... (i won the gadget on a game, so I can't realy tell for sure where it came from).
So can someone please help me with what firmware I can install by not using Kies?
Is the firmware by T-MOBILE for Gingerbread 2.3.6 usable for me?
The data found on internet for 2.3.6 are different from what I have in my tablet, so I realy need this advice.
Copied from a website for T-MOBILE 2.3.6 update, it says:
GT-P1000CWACRO
PDA: P1000BOJQ3
CSC: P1000CROJPA
Phone: P1000BOJP1
Download: P1000BOJQ3/P1000CROJPA/P1000BOJP1/P1000BOJQ3
And my tablet lists out this:
PCode: GT-P1000CWAVIP
PDA: P1000XWJMK
PHONE: P1000XXJMA
CSC: P1000OXFJM5
(This last three letters on my tabs Product Code: VIP makes me think the provider the tab came from could be VIP.)
Thx for any help I can get.
