I can't seem to figure out why my screen is turning on after I get a text message or other kind of notification. It goes off fairly quickly, but I would like it to just not come on at all automatically. I have BLED installed anyway (although I don't think it's working right now, maybe because of this screen on thing).
So, can anyone tell me how to disable the screen on when a text/notification comes through? I've looked through settings. I'm not a newbie so I can understand any kind of talk, or should be able to.
Thanks!

That's just notifications in the status bar.

I'm currently using Omega StatusBar but it's buggy at best. After enabling in accessibility settings I find that the counters are frequently incorrect, apps stick around after clearing notifications, and ongoing notifications don't play very nice.
Anyone using a statusbar with more success? Which one?
I'm looking for any which display icons for notifications rather than the vague circle with a number within it as present in the stock os. It's good to see what's going on at a glance without swiping down.

+1 want to know the best bar too xD
I wasn't even able to get Omega StatusBar to display notifications on my 8.9" HD. As soon as I turned on the "accessibility" option necessary for it to intercept notifications, I got a force close.
I've tried a couple of other status bar replacements from the Play store with the same results -- all fail turning accessibility on. I've seen reports of other 8.9" users having the same problem.
I would certainly like to hear of a working status bar that doesn't have this problem.
The stock status bar works.

You have to go to the Kindle's settings -> accessibility -> then turn on the option for Omega Statusbar accessibility.
From there you can turn on the accessibility within Omega's app. It might force close but it will work.
At that point when you open the Omega app you will want to hit the button on the top-right-most of the screen. It turns on the status bar. You should instantly see the statusbar pop up.
It doesn't always clear notifications though. I guess this is an android limitation with what gets sent to the accessibility api.
Hope that works for you.

Oh and if you're stock or stock rooted and you don't have accessibility settings within the Kindle's settings menu use KFHD Extended Settings to access it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2124384

Thanks, I got it working. It wasn't worth it, though. Wasn't much of a functional improvement, didn't look that much better, and the old status bar would show up in flashes now and then.
Maybe the stock toolbar isn't that bad...

Yeah.. And even moving to /system/app doesn't make a difference unfortunately. At least when the stock toolbar says 10 notifications, its really 10 notifications. I'm confident some ROM will get something stable going though, just a matter of time.

Is there a way to change the icons that show in the status bar without having to switch to an entire other status bar? I'm referring to the parental controls, wifi and battery icons that appear in the top right corner. I'd like to customize those. Possible?
Hi all,
I've searched this forum over and over but can't seem to find anything.
Just wondering if its possible for the screen to wake up when a new notification arrives? I sit my phone up at an angle facing me at work whilst charging and keep missing messages.
Surely there's a way? It's a bit nuts it isn't default.
Cheers.

That appears to only be a "sent" or "send failure" comfirmation. It doesn't display a new received message. I don't see that option.
I am using this app notify me. After installing it, go to accessibility and turn it on and off 2 times. Should work

I was wondering if anyone else has this problem. I have Zedge installed on my HTC One and I downloaded some additional notification tones to use . I have gone both into the Personalize settings menu as well as the sound settings menu and selected the new tone I wanted to use. But when I get a notification after that it still plays what default tone I had selected before. Even tho in the settings it shows that it should be playing the new tone I have selected. I tried rebooting my phone to see if it would help, it did not. Do I have to move these files to the media/notifications folder to work? I've never had this issue with my previous Android phones.
I do believe you have to put them in notification folder, reboot and select it via settings

I found out what the issue was today. I wanted to change the text message notification. Found out there is a setting you have to change in the actual text app, not under system menu settings.

I don't know why but the vibration feedback has stopped working when I am writing messages etc.
Is this a known issue? In the settings it is checked on vibrate on keypress..

Go to the Power Saver in the Notification area. Have you got a tick in the box? If so untick it.
Yeah I realised power save settings were still on after I froze power app to remove it from notification drawer.
It's working now. Thanks anyway mate

Just FYI, you can remove the notification without freezing the power app. First, unfreeze the app and you'll see the notification re-appear. From there, long press the notification and hit 'App Info' (You can also get to this from settings -> apps -> all). Uncheck the box to "Show notifications" and it will go away and not prevent you from using the 'Power' menu.
The pebble forums are horrible, so I thought i'd post here.
My Glance app is showing 5 notifications for text messages at all times. Any way to reset this?
And while I'm at it...
Notification Center sometimes reboots my pebble when trying to clear a notification and go back to Glance. Is this just a bug?
For Glance, you can do one of two things. Search through your history for unread text messages (I had to use the stock app), or set "Unread SMS Count from Tasker/Int..." to on.
I don't know anything about notification center. The fact that it doesn't display the full message keeps me from using it.

Thanks! I'll try the Tasker trick. I like notifications center bc it allows me to dismiss notifications on my phone. Is the any other way to achieve this?
