Standby Drain - TouchPad Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm getting between 45 mA and 55 mA battery usage while my Touchpad is on standby. I'm on CM9 Alpha 2, and using Battery Monitor Widget Pro to monitor usage. Why is standby drain so stupidly high? The tablet doesn't even have a cellular radio.

Help with Battery Life

Hi guys, I'm worried about the battery life of my HTC One.
When the phone is on lock mode, meaning screen is off, within one hour battery can go down from 1-3%. Power saver is on, brightness is auto. And 4G/LTE is on.
Also, I only play around with my settings, checking out GSAM battery monitor, within 15 minutes battery can go down 1-2%.
Now it's been 6 hours 22 minutes since I unplugged from charger, battery level is 74%.
Is it normal?
Thanks.
Gsam should be able to tell you where your battery is being used and what app. Look at what the offending app is (most likely Google maps and Google+ or facebook) and use an app like greenify to hibernate them when not in use.

Check with betterbatterystats app to see if anything is keeping it awake at

You do realize that the phone is still doing stuff when the screen is off, yes? Syncing e-mails/facebook/news stories, communicating the the network, etc. Even if the phone were completely off, lithium-ion batteries will still deplete(albeit very, very slowly) over time. 1-3% loss in an hour is pretty normal in standby. If you're really concerned about it, you can check out an app called BetterBatteryStats and it'll show you what's waking your phone up from sleep and/or preventing it from sleeping to help identify apps whos sync settings are too aggressive.
Your battery has depleted 26% in 6hrs 22minutes... you're losing roughly 4.08% per hour, at that rate it would take you ~24.5hrs to deplete the battery. Battery depletion is, can be, and should be accelerated when you're using the phone, so 1-2% within 15minutes while looking at a battery monitor... yeah. The more stuff you do with your phone, the sooner the battery will run out.
TL;DR: your battery life is fine.

Thanks for the info. However I noticed in some threads that for certain people, their HTC One can last for 1 days 9 hours. For example:

My phone lasted 1 day and 9hrs on one charge with moderate internet use, txt messaging, phone calls - and that was without power saving mode enabled.

It's going to be very difficult for you to replicate the results of someone else(and we are lacking a ton of information from that post--is he running a custom rom, custom kernel, are screen off/on profiles being used, what apps are syncing, how often, how many, etc).
Beyond usage, phones can vary greatly from within the same model based on the manufacturing process/location/materials. For instance, there's a thread in the General Section exploring the differences in various HTC One's screen maximum screen brightness. Even down the chemistry of the batteries themselves. I know from personal experience that one of the biggest impacts on battery life can be how strong of a signal you're receiving from your carrier. If you life/work in a low signal area, the phone will increase power to the antennae to maintain the connection whereas if you're in a good signal area, it doesn't have to work as hard.
Anyone use GSAM Battery Monitor app? Why does the battery usage % doesn't add up to 100% when you add it with the remaining battery % sometime?
Yesterday it's still fine. But today my battery usage % + remaining battery % only add up to 93%.

Most people use that app. I'm not sure why it isn't working 100%. Did you plug your phone in for a very short amount of time? That might make errors. After you charge it overnight everything should be fine. Try using it for another day.
Sent from my HTC One
In GSAM Battery Monitor, my App Usage is always the highest contributor to battery usage, usually around 85%-90%. Screen is only 10.8%.
When I dig deeper into the App Usage, Kernel (Android OS) 23.8%, and Android System 15.7% are the top 2.
Is it normal?

Btw, do you know what is AsyncCollectorListener wakelocks that come from Maps? It also contributes to high partial wakelocks percentage most of the time.

[Q] [ROM][4.3.1] CyanogenMod 10.2 maclaw

Since i don't have 10 post I have to post in this section..
I installed the maclaw rom on my sIII mini and have a battery life of 12hours. This seem very low since I could get approx 25 hours out of my phone with the same setting (wifi, gps, bluetooth on)
Anyone has some idea, my battery stats don't mention something spectacular with my battery usage, just android os that takes 60% with 3hours cpu, and 3h 15 min keep awake

How do i post my battery specs? just screenshot of my battery page or are there better options?
I use "BetterBatteryStats", because you can see which cpu states are used.
Also you can check which process or app produces wakelogs.
But why you turn GPS and BT on all the time??

Are you using the version that came with your phone, or are you using something custom (i.e. CyanogenMod or Resurrection Remix)? Did you see what "supposedly" is the highest percent drainer under Settings->Battery?

Based on that, the only thing that I can think of is to turn down your display brightness (even try setting to auto if you haven't already) and if your cell service is often weak/non existent, then put it in airplane mode temporarily to turn off your cell radio (which will also kill calling and texting though). It also depends on just how fast your battery is draining. How much time are you getting with it on? How quickly is it draining (percentage wise per hour for example)?

It sounds like some of that is just the software then as well. Before I unlocked the bootloader and installed CyanogenMod on mine, I used to see it drain quite a bit faster (especially during standby when the screen was off). A big part of that was being able to change the CPU clock speeds (which I lowered on mine) and adjusting it to where many apps couldn't wake up the phone anymore. When doing heavy gaming though, it's pretty much always guaranteed to drain quickly.

I'm not saying the version you are using, but the actual stock software in general. It's definitely not optimized as well for battery life as it can be in a custom ROM and the bloatware doesn't help either. Using the phone for gaming will also take a hefty toll, regardless of what you are running.

Do you mean 10% per hour of screen on time or screen off time? If you lose only 10% for an hour of screen on, you probably get 8-10 hours of screen on time per charge. I only get less than 5.

i used to have a moto g4 plus, I did not find any unusual drain unless i had 4G data or wifi on
My moto g4 plus was working fine until a few days back, now the standby drain is terrible even charging my phone takes more than 3-4 hours.
The battery status shows that my phone is almost always awake and draining the battery. It works better in safe mode, how do I find what's causing the phone stay awake??

I had the same issue........,but i fixed it(somehow)....................,first of all, doing a factory reset is sure to fix it...........................,also ,the main cause for this is because of the tons of apps and services running in the background......................................,if you don't want to reset, try using greenify,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,it hibernates apps and prevents them from working when the screen is off..........................greenify works on both rooted and non-rooted devices, although it is much more effective on rooted devices...........i highly recommend it........................good luck....
My battery was draining pretty fast so I installed GSAM and found that the app DSub was taking up most of my battery. Never had the issue with the app on previous phones/android versions so I went into settings and found that DLNA was enabled. The description said to disable if it was causing battery drain on Nougat. I turned it if off and now the battery life is MUCH better.

I'm talking about the DSUB app specifically. I've attached a screenshot. If you don't have DSUB installed, maybe another media app is causing the problem? Try installing GSAM, which will tell you what app is causing your drain.

Doze will help I think
mobile network standby drains a hell lot of battery.. Half of my battery consumption is due to mobile network standby..
If app consumption is 30% then standby will be more then 30%
I cross check other users for their battery stats but cell standby was 0-1% but in my case it is around 40-45% or even more if used from a single charge.. Battery life is dead due to mobile network standby. Please help.

how about when u guys use it until the end of the day while the phone screen is constantly turned on and off? 6h+ seems to be the average for sot but I haven't seen anyone post their idle times yet except for when it's during an overnight sleep
My friend has a 3t and his standby his pretty bad. He is on Oreo though....Does anyone else get a huge battery drain on their 5t?
My battery is draining as quick in standby mode as it is when I'm using it! I'm losing about 3.5% /hr over night. That is really my only complaint.
I'm leaving everything on. WiFi/data/ location/ Bluetooth.. shouldn't have to switch it off tbh.

If you live in an area that doesn't receive particularly great cell service, leave data and location off on your 5T. When your phone has to constantly search for a good cellular connection, it will eat power like a New Yorker eats a hamburger at a baseball game. And if a sub-optimal cellular connection in your area is the case, then 3% per hour isn't half bad...my Droid Turbo 2 would drain 11% in the same timeframe.
If this isn't the issue, then check the power consumption of the individual apps you have on your phone to filter out problem apps that may be draining your battery rapidly. If neither of these methods work, you may have to resort to factory resetting your phone, or RMAing if nothing fixes the issue.
So, I've narrowed it down to being a WiFi related issue. Something is running when WiFi is on which is preventing the phone from going into deep sleep properly (if at all).
When I switch WiFi off overnight, and leave everything else on (data/BT/NFC) then my drain goes from 3-4% / HR to around 3-4 % in 8 hours.
Can't figure out beyond that yet though.
