I searched alooot..but didn't find an answer!
I am about to install the broadrom on my i9001..
The problem is its asking to format all the partitions in the CWM..
How can I do this the right way??
I have CMW installed..
Go to mounts and storage, there u can see all the partitions.. the last 4 say: Format /xxx do that will all the partitions!

davlik cache is just a temporary cache for all apps, this can be wiped at all times, it will take about 1.5 min to boot after dalvik is cleared.

OK so every ROM that you want to move to requests (requires) that you wipe before you load the new ROM. That makes sense to me as you want a clean install.
My question is, what am I supposed to wipe (Sorry stupid question). I boot to recovery and I have a wipe menu and I have several options:
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe Dalvik-cache
Wipe SD:ext partition
I have two more for wiping stats which I will make an educated guess are not required. Should I wipe everything listed above? Just dalvik cache?

Thanks! Also figured out how to clear up a problem with wiping dalvik that I had by partitioning SD card again.
I have been trying to flash "Thanatos2X v4.0 EXT4" However, i cant boot it into the animation screen. And i dunno wat is the problem.. Any help? Previously used rom is BlazingDragon2.0b.

Yeah, i wipe, clear cache and delvik cache, and flash it, but i just wont pass the LG loading screen T_T. Is it something to do with the ext3 and ext 4?

When i want to wipe dalwik cache on cwm, it says sd-ext not found and after that dalvik cache wiped.
I asked it to my friend. He said there might be a problem with your partition table. It can make performance reducing. Search about it...
Is it normal? I never see formatting sd-ext or anything other from sd-ext not found. Maybe i installed million roms...

Which Kernel were you / are you on?
What steps did you take to wipe the cache?
Wiping the cache will not impact your external storage but need more information on what exactly you did..
indeed...wiping just the cache partition shouldnt affect anything on the sd memory unless there was a format command for internal or external, whichever is lost...if files were deleted and you have no backup, you made a big mistake
sory its the dalvik folder i try to wipe it but fail i think i acedenty delet folder of the cache dalvik how yo fix this. . i dont have back up so damn huhu

Not before flashing :silly:
so problem solved...follow these steps
boot into recovery
wipe data
wipe cache
install zip from sd card
wait untill the rom flashes
wipe data
wipe cache
wipe dalvik cache
wipe battery stats [optional]
reboot and enjoy any rom...

Also this way is UNIVERSAL (means it works for any Galaxy Mini with any ROM and any Recovery ! )
