Wifi calling with t-mobile? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Have the international note and really enjoy it thus far except that I can't seem to get Wifi calling to show up.
Is anyone with this phone using the Wifi calling with t-mobile?
Thanks

LOL, by the responses to this thread, the N7000 does not work with the Tmobile wifi calling feature. This worked great on my Galaxy S II for having a useful signal in my house using my own wifi network. My guess is that it must have something to do with the lack of the AWS 1700 band?
For any of you with a similar signal issue when in the office or at home, a Google Voice number and the "Groove IP" app works great over wifi and obviously doesn't use any of your voice minutes.

But Groove IP uses a LOT of bandwidth. 90K continuous up and down. Not many data links are happy running that fast. I wish I could add real WifI Calling to my LA4 N7000

[Q] wifi calling??? free minutes???

so a buddy of mine has a phone from tmobile the htc sensation and it has the option of using wifi calling whitch apparently doesn't use minutes texts or anything on it is there a way that our phones can do that i have tried google voice but it still uses minutes any way for that to work on the bionic just curious???
Currently, T-Mobile is the only carrier around using Wifi calling (US, at least). It requires specific setup on the backbone and no one else has implimented this. I'm sure there are third party apps that will do something like this, but as far as a carrier-supported feature, you're out of luck.
oh ok so it is related to the actual network interface such as verizons 3g 4g while on a phone call?? i wish there was a way to use wifi only minutes i try google voice but it still uses minutes..

Grooveip works with google voice to make 3g, 4g, and wifi calls. Doesn't use any minutes. Only data if calling over a network. A simple search in the Android market will tell all one needs to know.

I also use grooveip. Works like a charm making calls through wifi using my Google voice number. I also have it on my wifi xoom and it works great as well.

I have NetTalk home VOIP which works great but an added bonus is their app which is on the Market, but you do have to have the Nettalk duo.
It allows outgoing free calls using 4g or WiFi (I think 3g works)but no incoming as of yet.
I found the voice quality to be very usable but it does have it's limitations.
When you call anyone it doesn't show your cell number but a number that is from Nettalk
Yeah i have that too not too bad for free but horriable quality

[Q] wifi calling?

Do any of the roms have wifi calling? I have spotty reception in my house and wanted to see if wifi calling would alleviate that issue.
I currently use and love HD revolution, but will give it up for wifi calling.
Shouldn't you be able to use Google talk? I'm not in the u.s. so I'm not to sure on the details...

Possible work around for tmobile for areas with bad reception

I live in Warren Michigan and have awesome service outside and on top floors of buildings or atleast by a Window but on main floors, basements and in buildings reception sucks but there is usually wifi so I switched my mobile network to 2g only and use wifi I get full bars in the basement now when I do this with 2g works just fine for text and making calls wifi does the rest.
Also I did a search to find similar post and didn't get anything but I did it through the phone app.

2G is always a good thing to enable when you're on WiFi. You don't need the fast internet due to WiFi and call quality is sufficient.
And you're saving a lot of battery life.

When my phone tries to connect to 3G it ends up with a very weak signal or no signal at all in parts of my home (also Michigan btw), so I created a Tasker profile to force 2G when I'm at home based on a GPS location, and as I already use Tasker to set volume, etc. when I arrive home this was a seamless fix.

[Q] Avoiding HSPAP (H+)

Well, in the city I live the 3G+ signal is very poor, while my 3G (HSDPA) runs flawlessly (1mbps stable connection, what is pretty rare to find here in Brazil).
The problem comes when my cellphone keeps connecting to 3G+ towers and I just couldn't find how to keep HSDPA only.
Looking for some help, 'cause I know some samsung devices got a hidden dial number to set only hspa hsupa hsdpa hspa+ etc and razr i doesn't.
Thanks in advance
Hello Henrique. Only for curiousity. Which operator are you using in Brasil? I am in Brasil too and o'm using Tim bit i never reach 1mb.

I'm using TIM at the moment. My plan is what they call as "TIM Beta Teste" and I'm able to reach 1.2Mbps sometimes w/o data limits neither speed limits.
here it goes some speedtest
btw, i think i've managed to get into this menu by dialing to #073887*. the only problem is that it asks me for a "SIM network unlock PIN", and i've been trying many things since then and i can't get it to work.

How important is VoLTE?

I'm using a rom that doesn't support VOLTE or wifi calling... Wifi calling i can live without... Curious how important Volte is? I know it delivered HD voice, but thats about I know.
Was hoping to get some opinions from people smarter than me. Thanks.

If you're in an LTE band 12 area, there is no corresponding GSM voice for it, so you'll need VoLTE to make and receive voice calls in that region.
