[Q] No network after kernel change and/or formating - XPERIA X8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
on my xperia X8 i was changing ROM's to test them and i was using GingerDX for a while. It was good, everything was working like a charm. Then my friend poked me with CM9. This one
As noted in that thread i needed nAa 11 kernel that i installed (correct if Install is wrong term). Kernel was installed nicely. CM ROM from that thread was working nicely, as stated camera and wifi don't work. But i also don't have network. My SIM card is locked by provider, i enter passkey and i get standard unlock message. That's OK and it proceed to home screen. Then i notice that i don't have network signal and i got SIM icon on my status bar (as noticed in Pic's).
So firstly, to see what is what:
I guess my phone is bricked, i bricked it lots of times and fixed with SEUS.
CWM is 5.0.1.2 and also xrecovery (i can't remember version)
I put another kernel, something "linux" something...
After "IDK what not" i tried S1tool, SEUS again and again and again and still nothing. I manage to take it back to stock rom with nAa kernel, nothing. Stock ROM with stock kernel, nothing... On stock ROM 2.1 i get to unlock SIM, do that and it just shows status bar, no menu, no widgets, no home screen, not even launcher. On status bar: SIM icon, signal icon (empty), battery ofc.
On that CM9 ROM i can do everything but still no network and WiFi don't work as mentioned and stated in Luke's thread.
So i cant go on nor back...
I'm working on phone while i write this and i have no clue how i made it to work...
It's fixed, on stock rom but network is working.
So, i wanted to ask you how to fix it but now i want to ask:
What did i do to make it not working? and
HOW did i fixed it?
I've been working on it for like 20 hours and i have no idea what did what and when.
If you need some pictures i will be happy to post them for more information on the problem.

I dont have that ROM on my Phone but i saw some ppl fixing it by simply going to Security --> Simlock --> Unlock SIM Card (or something like that).
As far as WIFI is concerned i am sure u know that it needs static IP.

I beleve it was radio. I now installed both GingerDX and that CM. I have network now. And WiFi works with static IP. Thank you for posting

[Q] GingerDX mobile data problem

I installed GingerDX weeks ago.
I was quite happy with the results and I rarely found glitches with the software. Overall, the experience was great and I forgot the I am using an unofficial software for my Xperia X8. Great job guys!
But one problem bugs me. It is about my internet connection through my mobile network.
My Carrier is Globe Telecom, and I happened to call (customer service) them for about 5-8 times by now, and they manually configured my internet account for my phone. All the APN and necessary information has been configured, and my simcard is ready to be used for the internet. I have extra load (I'm using prepaid); but I can't connect to the internet. My "Data Enabled" is checked and so is the Power Control icon on my homescreen.
Globe said that it would be a problem in my phone and not from theirs.
I'm just asking...how can I fix this kind of problem. I always restart my phone and it does nothing. The E logo (with the arrows pointing up and down) doesn't appear in the notification area, even though I am getting a decent phone signal and clicking on the browser.
Please help me. Please. Thank you!
What is the version you are using?
There's a small test you can do in some free time. Back the GDX up using xrecovery or CWM, and install another ROM. Other than GDX or a newer/older version of GDX and check whether the problem is still there.
Put your SIM card to another phone and check from there if possible. If this step does not work, ask your operator's Contact center to hook you up with someone from engineering and ask him whether your number has been authorized for the APN you are using (this cannot be done by frontline staff!)

I'm still a beginner here. What's CWM?
Can you please give me some other "stable" OS for my Xperia X8 to test with? I would be grateful if you do. I'm using the version 17 of GingerDX, though.
Thanks for the fast help!
CWM= Clock Work Mod recovery
Anyways, try any ROM and see whether data works and then you can start debugging GDX's data issues. Try a Froyo ROM like FroyoBread or KuyaDroid (which is Gingerbread).
i have the sam problem with the v21..Help me!
---------- Post added at 09:53 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:53 PM ----------

update zip where can i get that..or just flash the v21 again...

Wifi Custom kernel problem

Update: Solved (just reflashed the ROM)
I have a problem here with my X8. So, after I have successfully unlocked my bootloader without the network problem, now I have a wifi problem. So what I did was: rooted my phone, unlocked the bootloader, applied a nAa kernel (before that I tried the MiniCM9 with the ICS nAa kernel), then I applied the custom ROM called JoyOS... In both cases(ICS-MiniCM9, and JoyOS) I have the problem when connecting to a wifi router, I cant use it. I know it sounds strange but I can connect normally with the wifi but still I cant use it... I mean when I try to open google.. or use anything with wifi (like syncing) I just cant... it says unable to connect to the internet. I am thinking its the unlocked bootloader problem.. but I am not sure. Can someone help with this please.
Maybe just reset router...
lol???
Thats not a problem with the router... I am using the internet via that router writing this reply.. please dont be stupid and post something smart.
EDIT:
Still waiting for a reply.. I really need a solution for this..
Have u tried connecting to a totally different router cuz that may be ur problem, I have a friend who had a similar problem with an android tablet that didn't like his router so give it a go it won't hurt to try
P.S did it connect when it was stock?
Sent through my X8
it did connect when it was on stock ... and I am not sure but I think it actually was working a little while I was using the MiniCM9 ICS ROM and on the same rom actually the problem has occured. Now I am not sure if it stopped working because of the unlocking and applying a new kernel or something else happened in the mean time.. Could it be I disabled wifi somehow? somewhere?
What rom are you using? i only say that because when i swapped from minicm9 to semc debrand engine both wifi and 3g stopped working but when i switched back to minicm9 it worked perfectly again.
Try a Full wipe + wipe dalvic cache (or whatever it is) and install the rom again, hope this helps
Now trying to flash miniCm9 again.. we ll see now.. will update in a few minutes
Update:
Great, , just flashed the ROM again and now working well. Thanks anyway for helping.
No problem glad i could help

[Q] WiFi problem with MIUI

Hello,
I have just flashed MIUI Gingerbread 2.4.20-RC3 to my GT-S5570, everything looks great, except WiFi, when I turn on WiFi, it says "Scanning" finds my WiFi and then "disconnected" and again shows "Scanning" for 1 sec and again "disconnected", what can I do?
WiFi Error
You need to revert to your old stock rom, because the drivers for WiFi aren't working. Same thing happened on my mobile phone, when I flashed it with the newer firmware. Didn't really find the solution to this problem, but solved it by going back to my old rom. Hope this helps.
You can also try typing this code into your phone: #*#*526#*#*
It might work for you.
Best of luck.

It is working now, here is what I did: In phone settings I tried to change themes lock screen to other, but unfortunately not default lock screen was way too big (very big resolution) so I was not able to unlock my phone any more, once I found that I can do it pressing back+volume down, it helped to unlock, but MIUI was crashed and stopped working, so I had to wipe all data and cash, to reset default settings, after this, everything works great now.

the same thing was happening to me (on the same rom)>> "fixed" it by reseting the notebook-hot-spot (connectify) I use
[sometimes even a simple wi-fi turn on/off or rebooting the device would help too]
I'm posting this in order to prevent you from doing more drastic stuff :cyclops:
hope it' helps

[Q] Bootloop, can't edit APN and random reset problem

I have a problem with this phone. I got it locked to a network so i rooted it and changed bootloader to new bootloader and instaled kowalski kernel ((alpha) now I'm on M1 and the problems are still here)), after that I tried many different ROMs but I get the same problem all the time. First problem is that my phone finds a network and I can recieve calls and messages but no data connection and I can't save an APN (I fill in everything and when I click save it just brings me to APN settings without the APN iI tried to create. Second is the random reboots, it just happens when I do stuff (doesn't matter what). And the last is bootloop which happens and then I leave it just to turn it on later without problems.
Could you please help me and tell me what kernel, ROM, bootloader, baseband and everything to install to make it work. I don't care about the data that will get erased. I just want it to work (even on stock ROM and kernel which I can't find) THANK YOU IN ADVANCE GUYS

Recovery and Kernel for CyanogenMod 12

Hello,
I need some help with install CyanogenMod 12 - Neo's Homebuilds
I have Sony Xperia T LT30p
Android ver: 4.3
Kernel ver: 3.4.0
Build number: 9.2.A.1.199
Phone is unlocked and rooted.
I have problem on next steps - recovery and flash
In instruction to install CyanogenMod12 doesn't write how recovery I shoud use. I read, most people use CWM, so I was looking for that recovery.
Unfortunatelly, from this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2012738 when I tried run CWM v9 installer for JB, select my phone from list
I have only " deamon not running, starting it now on port 5037* deamon startded successfully" and nothing happens.
I flashed this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2677553 Installed correctly, I go to cwm recovery, I did a backup, but when I was tried
install rom, I have an error something like "You tried install rom for LT30, but your device is Hayabusa" and installation is aborted.
What recovery (and from where) I need, to correctly install this mod? Do I need install another kernel too? (All kernels what I seen, have older build number than I have on the phone)
Could someone help me to finish this process?
Best Regards
Same issue like here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3038250
Check this out. :good:
Hey WhiteNeo, thanks for response.
I read this post before, but in there, user has a Xperia V, and has a different Build number, and he has (a good?) recovery (I don't know if this has any significance) and aborts appears, in the middle of installation with different kind of error log.
I have abort message on the beginning, telling that the rom is ok but device is Hayabusa..:/
Could you tell me what recovery I should use? (Or maybe this what I have installed is correctly? I don't tried do this on the TRWP)
I need flash another kernel? or it's not necessary?
Still, the steps I mentioned are the same.. Either remove the first line in updater-script, or flash my kernel via fastboot before installing the rom.
The kernel does include a working recovery from where you may flash the rom itself.
Good news, I finished and it works
I flashed the kernel – boot.img from your rom zip package (maybe it worth add this info to the instruction on first page?)
Thanks very very! much for your hints. So now I join to the „tester” your great rom
For now (using only 1 hour) I found only 2 bugs.
First is a „!” symbol near gsm signal when we turn off cellular data.
Second is a unable to turn on the camera using dedicated button.
Thanks again.:good:

Funnily enough, that symbol shows that you don't have cellular data (internet connection); if you don't like the symbol, turn on cellular data or connect to a working WiFi network.

The "!" symbol, it's not funnily enough, on any kind of system or application.
It's little weird kind of notification about disabled internet connection. Many people save the battery or $ by
disabling cellular data (in stock system you don't have any icon to inform that status) and that should be
something "normal", "!" is unnecessary to inform that fact.

Then you should probably complain to Google and it's developers for creating that ugly and disgusting icon, instead of labeling it as a bug. Just because there is something about your phone that you don't like doesn't mean it's a bug; that's like saying my battery only lasting 18 hours is a bug, when in fact I leave my screen on for more than 3 hours.
Also, I didn't know there was an Official Android 5 Stock Rom for either the T/TX Sony phone, so I wouldn't know about how it behaves. Please do share the news.

Also custom ROMs don't always have the same features stock ROMs do, for instance, opening the camera app when clicking on the camera button (doesn't work on any of the custom ROMs I've used), but again, that doesn't mean it's a bug.
You can probably use Xposed + Xposed Additions to get that function.

I didn't know that in the original android 5.x symbol "!" near gsm signal, is implemented - is changing, figure things out.
For me, its a little strange, "!" symbol should inform that something is wrong / something damaged but in this case
everything is ok but symbol is displayed. All right, this is only my opinion.
I didn't write nowhere about official android 5 for Xperia T, so I don't know what you mean.
About camera button, it's works, example on the Ultimate PureXT custom ROM, so it is possible to work on custom rom.
If it's designed for something, and now it's not working as it should....how do you call it if not a bug? fault? defect? mistake?
Fortunately, it's only a details and I'm grateful to the authors, for this custom rom and I keep my fingers crossed for next update
to improve this rom.

What I meant was that even on Stock ROMs, the icons change to show there is no connection to Google's servers (blue colored signal in 4.3 and below, and orange colored in QS in 4.4), so it shouldn't surprise you that the function is still there.
About the camera button... I would probably call that not having access to the entirety of Sony's source code, drivers, etc., in order to implement that function, and custom ROM developers probably just haven't simply figured that out yet; because, for your information, the Ultimate PureXT Rom is not a custom ROM.
