Installing CM7 on Kaiser - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

I tried installing Scoot's CM7 rom on my Kaiser (HardSPL updated, new radio, etc.), and no matter what I try, I can't get it to install. It "says" it installed it, but when trying to fix permissions, it says a lot of files don't exist. Past that, when it should be booting up, it just shows a black screen. I tried putting both sys/data on NAND, both as .img's on the SD, and combinations of both, but it still won't work. Occasionally, I get an insufficent space error from one of the components of the installer, but my SD is 8GB, and when I remove it, it hasn't used it all. If someone could give a dummy's guide to flash this ROM, it would be greatly appreciated.

Try and use other sd card.

I don't have another sd card...it has been functioning fine, and when I look at the newly created system.img or data.img, they aren't nearly the size i set them to be in ATools, and the card isnt nearly full.

What you can do is try not to use Atools. Create a folder named andboot in your sd card and put in the rom in it.Then put in KAISIMG.NBH in the sd card outside the andboot folder(that is if you want to use NAND)

My phone says sd card removed

It happened yesterday when I upgraded to xrom. I have formatted and repartitioned my sd card. Nothing is working. When I connect my sd card to my computer I noticed a lot of weird files were being stored on it. They reappear every time I delete them.
My phone is creating files like this "qxdm_20090910_184004_3.dm" (32 megs!)
hmm....very interesting... reboot into recovery and repair the ext files? it might work. most likely not, but its worth a shot.
I though about trying that but I don't have cyanogens recovery .
Mine just did the "sd card has been removed" thing half an hour ago.
I just copied a new theme .zip to my sdcard and then rebooted into recovery.
I could not apply the update since it could not mount the mmcblk0p1 partition. When boot all the way up to android i get the icon saying that the sdcard has been removed.
i just did an adb push of a file to my /sdcard from the recovery console and it returned no errors...but i cannot see any files on the card.
wtf.
Any ideas?
Yeah my problems still not fixed. I have searched the XDA, forums, Google, none have offered any solution. I have found a lot of people with this same problem.
are you using swapper? if you dont turn it off, this could happen.
i would recommend getting cyans recovery image, it has a lot of tools to debug.
get a live cd of linux/gparted and see if you can see all your partitions. if not, your sd card is most likely dead. try reformatting. if that doesnt help, you may need to get a new card.
if it does show up on your pc, but doesnt work on your phone, then post here again
Have the same problem. Got it right after updating cyanogenmod 4.1.2 I've also been looking for answers and I think I'm just gonna get a new one
I have never used swap. I tried installing cyans recovery image through terminal but it can't find my sd card. I can still update my rom through jfs utility. My sd card works perfectly fine on my computer.
Something like this happened to me a while ago. It first said Sdcard was damaged and i couldnt access it via any file manager. I rebooted and turned out all my apps went up in the air and dissapeared and my fat32 partition was gone to. i reccomend backing up your sdcard and reformatting your card then go froom there
I have already tried all that. Nothing so far has worked :-(. Man this is horrible. I can't even take pictures!

SD won't partition/format no matter WHAT i do!

I just got a new 8 gb microSD card, from ebay and no matter HOW HARD I TRY, using every friggen method in the book, it won't partition properly, and when i finally do get it to partition, it keeps being read by my phone as a blank SD card, but the phone won't format it.
I have tried to using, Paragon Partition Manager, as well as SDpart on Amon_RA's recovery. Both tell me that it has been partitioned correctly, however sometimes on SDpart, it just partitions forever.
The SD card I use is this one: http://cgi.ebay.ca/NEW-8G-8GB-TF-Mi...gital_Camera_Memory_Cards?hash=item3ca7f3ab6b
which to my knowledge should work....unless i'm REALLY clueless and i just missed something really obvious, any help at all would be nice...if you need ne more infor to help, please ask.

you might wanna try ubuntu
I was hoping not to have to do that, but looks like i'll give it a try.
EDIT:
After installing ubuntu and partioning the card...what i think was successful (no errors) and the phone reads it fine, however it can't read the amount of storage on the SD secondary drive. And when I copy over a rom to reflash, at the recovery screen it gives me an error saying it's (bad). And then when i look at the ROM file, the size is down to 0kb, from the original 38 mb. I also can't download any updates using CM updater, it starts...and then freezes and gives me an error...this happens on NO MATTER what ROM, and i've tried both Amon_RA's and cyn's recovery. Both give the same error. Any help is welcome.
hmm i had a similar problem before. if you went into parted from the console and print, what does your "Partition Table" say?

[Q] Can't wipe internal SD, can't replace update.zip file etc

Hi Folks,
I've been searching all over the internet for 2 days and trying many ways to fix my european Galaxy S i9000 but i havent find any information that could help me on this task.
The device is unrooted, is running Eclair 2.1update1, firmware XJWMJ8, the final part on the firmware update I could not make it because every time I tranfer the "update.zip" file (139mb), I shut down the device and go to recovery mode... try to execute the file and it dont go trough the end, it means does not work properly.
When the device restarts I can see on the root of the Internal SD are the old "update.zip" file (only 1.5mb).
I even tried format the internal SD card trough the PC running windows xp, it took long time to do it, after all I transfered again the 139mb update.zip file and tried again the flash trough recovery mode, what I surprise I had because I could not make it again... but when I got back to the internal SD card there was everything as before I formatted.
I also tried format inside the android, there shows 13.43GB total space and 9.86 available space, after I unmount the SD card and format, it gets back just like before (13.43GB/9.86GB) just like I ever did format.
The i9000 after boot comes up tons of messages about apps which needs force close, they come many times and is about all app on the device, they keep coming until I can not get to see the LCD screen anymore. I tried erase all information many times, I tried to delete older accounts and nothing works, I can't access the market. It seens to not be bricked but also can not be fixed...
My only help now is there somebody had something like it could explain here how to fix.
I am still thinking that is something about the internal SD card and I can not wipe the information on it, since the information keeps getting back to it, like an automatic backup pulled by a trigger everytime I tried to wipe the info.
Is there any way to acess the Device's RAM to check the content or search over the device about the location where these files might be saved?
I cannot install ClockWorkMod recovery because the issue with the update.zip file, I havent tried the CF-Root because I am not sure which one I need, so as you can see: I am almost tied to this situation.
Any help would be very appreciated.
Thank you very much.
Paulo
Flash a new firmware using Odin and all your problems will go away.
Thanks.
I already made it several times with many different firmwares, all had the same results and so I stopped to do it and leave the device with this last one, at least until I know other options.
Wipe the lot.

Internal SD card issue - Need Guru help

Guys, need some help here
I'm generally ok at fixing these sorts of problems but this one has got me well and truly stumped.
Been trying without much luck to flash a working fw onto i9000 since updating to rom with voodoo and forgetting to disable lage fix before flashing non voodoo rom. Even flashing back with voodoo rom doesnt help.
I think I've finally managed to ascertain the root cause of the issue seems to be that either the internal sd card is somehow write protected or the current journalling on the ext4 partition is undoing and changes to that partition (where does journal reside?). I seem to be in a viscious circle as well. I cant mkfs a new ext2 partition as it complains that it wasnt unmounted cleanly, If I ignore I get a segmentation fault. If I e2fsck the partition it complains it cant write to the superblock, If I use alternate superblock it complains there is data in the journal, trys to replay the journal and complains it cant write the superblock. If I tunefs to disable the journal it complains that the needs_recovery flag is set so need to e2fsck the filesystem first :-S.
I've flashed kernel that has recovery option to disable lagfix. If I choose this and reboot it just sits at Galaxy S boot screen indefinite (over an hour waited). If I mount USB using same recovery mode, I can see the files in the partition, I can (through windows) delete the files so folder shows no files however disk still shows a percentage used. If I eject and remount all the files are back. I have formatted the partition as fat32 and re-labeled the drive. Format completes succesfully (done this both using cmd line and right click format). on eject and remount, label change has remained but files are back again. Partition still shows up as ext4 when looking via adb shell.
Have tried to use parted, but despite all parted functions giving success indicator, no changes are ever made.
I'm now at a loss on how to proceed?
Anyone any ideas on what next steps could yield any further results?
I had a similar issue... what solved it was to flash Darky's ressurection rom. Had to flash it 3 times in a row.. Flashed with Odin 1.7.
Hope it helps, i know how frustrating it is.

I have tried Darkys res rom, It wouldnt boot, just stuck at Galaxy S boot screen so didnt persue it. I'll try doing it multiple times as you suggest and let you know. Ta
EDIT: Nope tried it 4 times, same result, boots to Galaxy S screen, I get the voice prompt saying its coverting system, will take approx 2 mins, then another voice prompt about restore, then it sits there indefinetly (waited about 20 mins each time). Whilst its in this state adb devices shows device in recovery, and I can get an adb shell, however there seems to be no commands accesible, cd, ls, mount etc

I have a way that may fix your bricked phone. If it gets to the SGS logo boot animation, I would try flashing CM7. Try it out and then try reverting back to a stock rom.
Here are the instructions:
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/15275-gt-i9000-cyanogenmod-7-we-love-bugs-version-20110211/
You MUST follow the instructions to the letter though. Do not deviate from them!
How do I know this may work? Because it happened to me. My phone was bricked, then I flashed CM7 and now it works again. I've tested going back to stock rom and it works. Give it a try. It may be tough reverting back to stock since CM7 gingerbread is awesome! lol
If that doesn't work try flashing one of the earlier Froyo ROMs, I used XXJP2, and then moving on from there. The key is to ensure that whatever ROM you use has all three files (PDA, Modem, & CSC) and tick Re-Partitioning on Odin.
Again this is what worked for me and my device was restored to great working order.

Thanks for the suggestion but this wont work, as I said above, the root of my problem is that the internal SD card wont keep any changes I make to it. Once I upload the zip file and the phone reboots into download mode in order to flash with Odin, the files I would have put on the internal SD card will no longer be there. It seems to me that the FS cant set the recovery_flag to clean and therefore keeps replaying the journal and overwriting any changes on reboot.
I sort of proved this earlier, by managing to flash JP4 with speedmod kernel. This allows the phone to boot, but it has major force close issues. I can take a photo, see it in images, I can even mount it via USB and see it on my laptop. When I reboot, the photo is gone and anything I've deleted is back again.
Fundamentally I need someone who maybe has some experience fixing the filesystem, I cant see any Roms working until this manages to get resolved

Ive tried JP2, but no joy. Also tried
JFF,JS5,DDJG4,Darkys Res,JP4,JM8,JS3,EUGENE373,JPC,JP3,JM5 & Finally JPU, All with a mixture of partitioning and not.
got an ext-sd card? if so remove it, format sd, then try factory reseting,
edit : flash an old rom, like jm2, ascertain its function then yell again (missed a line *doh*)

Yep tried all that, tried formating via recovery mode, says successful, but all data still exists on reboot. Have tried formating using windows, via command line, via adb shell, they all say they are succesfull but on reboot, same problem exists and all data is still there :-S

I am sorry, not sure where to go from there. Keep Googling and maybe you'll come across something helpful.

Hi. Has anyone come across a solution to this problem. Any changes to the data on my internal SD card are lost on reboot, and many of my apps are not working.

Try editing the void.fstab to swap the internal sd card and external sd card. --- it won't address issues with internal card, but it may get you up and going again..

use the correct void.fstab for your phone (i9000 and i9003 are different)
backup the original and compare the new and old void.fstab file..

FCs galore and USB storage wont allow changes

Gday, Well I have spent 3 days searching, researching, trying, flashing, rooting, rummaging and swearing... and am back to exactly where I started, so going to go out on a limb, and ask for help:
I have my sisters old Galaxy S I9000, when booted up it force closes pretty much everything, all her apps she has on it, all google related apps including Market.
Factory reset via phone (privacy menu) option, recovery menu option, and dialler code option do nothing. By that I mean they say they are working, the phone reboots, yellow text suggests everything is being formatted and wiped, and then it reboots to exactly the same state.
I have flashed various 2.1, 2.2 and 2.3 firmwares, same result.
I have trie to flash custom ROMs, but can't because of the other problem; the USB storage appears to always stay unchanged no matter what I try to remove from it, or add to it (eg. zip files for installing). On my PC I can see the rive, and I can drag/drop zip files to it, I can even delete all the folders if I want, but when I disconnect the cable, the USB Storage in the phone is EXACTLY the same as it was before I connected it to the PC....
SOOOOOOOOOOO Frustrated....
I've searched high and low, forums galore, many seem to have had one problem or another, but nobody seems to have had exactly the same problems in their entirity. Even the forum I read about fixing the 'protected' USB storage suggested flashing a patch, which is a zip file, which is impossible for me to do as I can't write to the USB storage...
Your insight/wisdom/assistance o nthis matter would be GREATLY appreciated! Cheers in anticipation..
By the way, I am definitely talking about USB storage, the internal type, not my external sd card, I have had that removed for the last day or so to avoid any confusion. I currently have XXJPY 2.2.1 on the phone if that helps bt can change it to anything else that s Odin flashable if need be.
You say you had a patch thats a zip... If you have the external sd card put it on that, and then go recovery and install the zip, or however else you need to. Does it need to be on the internal sd card?
Or do you mean you can apply the zip but because you cant write to it it makes no difference?
Any chance your still on stock firmware then?
I can put zip on external SD card but when i choose install zip from card within recovery menu it shows USB storage folder, not external SD contents. Can't put zip file on USB storage as it wont let me write to it (even though it shows on my PC as having been added ok, at least up until i remount)
If xxjpy is stock firmware then i might be, but have tried several others and had same result. If u can recommend a different firmware ill happily dload and flash.
Im running darkcore, and the rom you see below, im not sure which CWM this is but i just checked with update from zip/sdcard and yes it showed me the internal sd card but just look for external sd, itll appera like everything else and i could go into it. So if it doesn't work in your current recovery menu, try install another one.
I've tried a few different recovery versions now, none show external SD card contents. But if i understand ur post correctly, ur suggesting that the external SD card shows within the USB storage list, like one of the folders on the USB storage? If that is the case, the only one it could be is /SD? But there is nothing in that, whereas there are several folders and zip files on my external SD card...
