Hello guys
M trying to connect my Incredible S to my laptop using the cable from my HD2 but its not recognizing anything - only charging light comes up - no prompts on PC. nothing - I've checked all the Coonect to pc options and they are set to ask for connection everytime USB is connected.
I am just wondering if anyone has come across the same problem and if yes, a possible resolution
I'v changed laptops/cables (dont have the original cable) but m sure it shouldnt make a difference?

I had that problem too on a custom ROM, i had to DL a different ROM on my phone (through wlan) and reflash it in order for it to work.
(Had ARHD when it borked, then switched to Virtuous Unity)

Have you tried a different USB port on your laptop? The port may be a slower one

This is kind of a mixed forum question....
but I managed to get my NC up and rooted (awesome job btw, totally rocks ), and now my HTC G2 isnt being registered by my PC when i plug it in for charging. They use the same cable so I usually just swap them out.
Any ideas? Its still charging, and I tried different usb ports and uninstalling the device profiles in DevManager... but still no dice.
Any help will be appreciated~
The nooncolor has a slightly different cable... try using the original cable from the G2

Im using a regular B/W nook cable, which doesnt have the different prong type in it, its just a regular Micro SD cable like the G2 and other phones use... but still no luck. My computer keeps treating it like an Unknown Device and i think its trying to use the adb-usb driver that i had to use for the NC
So ive gotten a little further and realized that Windows is assigned the wrong driver to the phone. Is there anyway to figure out what the old driver was or where the base one is for Windows? It keeps defaulting to the adb-usb driver and thats whats causing the issue~
Shouldn't you have the option to rollback the driver to a previous one in windows?

The B&N Nook Color cable is not normal.
Just download pdanet for android to your computer. It will find and install the appropriate drivers.
Okay... so I tried all of that. I mean, Im not a novice, but Im not an uber-pro either. From what I can tell, when I use the micro SD (non-adapted) usb cable and plug it into a HUB, the computer kinda sees my phone, but doesnt actually know how to properly load it and says "Cannot install correct driver"
But when I plug the usb directly into a slot on th MoBo or front port, it just doesnt see it at all and gives it power to charge.
SearEuslee, WTF!? (heh, sorry couldnt resist trying that)
Anyways, any help is most appreciated :C I really want to root my phone, but cant when the computer doesnt see it anymore....
Id love to post this in the development forum but not enuf posts so... I flashed steeldroid the other day and I love it, especialy with the GB launcher I added. Problem is, I can't get it to come out of charge only mode when hooking to the computer. It never gives me the option in the notification bar. Is there any other way to change it? Anyone have any ideas? I appreciate any help

Try a different cord, usb port, or computer. It sounds like it's not establishing a connection

Tried 3 cables. Charges fine. I have all the current drivers and everything on the computer.

I had a similar problem. My phone would not show it is charging past 95% but it would still increase the charge. I am waiting for the newest update before i dig into it myself.

I've got a similar issue on SD3 v3. I get the connect choices (PC, mass media, media sync, charge only) but i can't get mass media mode to connect on my windows 7 x64 machine. I get the bonk when the computer detects its connected, but don't see anything in device manager. Found a work around at least for the moment, put it in PC mode, and used the moto software, I can get into my internal card.
right, see i dont even get the connect options when i plug in. i am thinking it is something in the rom because it worked fine with the first cable i tried just before i flashed it. i know i could just restore to the nandroid backup of stock and do what i need to do but i dont wanna do that if i dont have to id rather make it work. is there a specific service or apk that controls the usb connect options that i can check?
Are you guys using the cord that came with the phone?
Yes all of my cables are motorola cables. The one i use for the computer is the cable that csme with the D3

Hey has anyone ever had an issue with Windows saying the USB attached has malfunctioned/ not recongized... I get this message everytime I plugged in my kiindle. I tried a different usb cable and still the same problem. I have all the appropriate dirvers installed etc.. DO you think my USB port could be bad in the Kindle?
I got the same problem after rooting. Just restore factory default and every thing works.

hey guys, i need some help here, got a captivate which usb was broken, noticed it was when usb just poped out in mid of a flash, so i made me a jig , it works like magic, i can get into download mode, BUT what ive been having trouble is getting it to be recognized by my laptop or other laptop or other PC, it sometimes does sometimes doesnt, the jig ALWAYS works, so i get into DL Mode always, im on winblows 8 , when i was back on win 7 i didnt have driver problems, i installed recent drivers from samsung and it still gives problems getting recognized, so ive downloaded some one clicks to flash to stock but they stuck sometimes on setup connection sometimes uploading kernel sometimes on the PIT , any suggestions ?
I think some pins of your USB port is loose or defective. Jig need only 4th and fifth pin. 2nd and 3rd pins are used for data( data transfer between PC and mobile, flashing etc) and 1st pin is +ve . are u able to charge it properly?
My suggestion is to Change USB port before flashing. If a loose contact of USB during flashing may brick your phone.

I've been working with another member on this issue. Go here and read through my suggestions and see if one helps. The first thing I would try, is to uninstall sync manager and all drivers for the phone from your pc. Then, connect the phone and see if it reinstalls sync and the drivers. I hope this helps.

I had same prob few days back. My htc one would behave madly. When i accept call automatically speaker gets on. It would not charge either by charger or by usb connection. Usb wouldn't recognize either.

I think is problem is large. After update htc one sucks. no doubt it added some great features. Or it may be hardware prob as always with HTC specially with HTC one X
usb problem
mine has also stopped working. does charge but not connecting to computer . running xp so drivers ok . definitely phone problem as friends htc one connects fine..
Disable usb debugging, it will connect

usb problem
thanks , but tried everything. wont connect in fastboot, recovery or anything. cannot relock bootloader or return to stock so just returning it for warranty as it is with fingers crossed. unless someone can tell me if possible without connecting to pc.
are you using a usb 3.0 port
usb problem
usb 2.0 . i have two friends with htc one's and they both connect just fine.
Same issue here! Last night pulled my phone out and it said "incompatible charger, please use original charger". I wasn't even charging the phone, and now it wont charge or connect to PC unless the phone is off. Tried turning off debug/developer/power save/fastboot/ etc with no luck so far.
