[Q] Samsung Printer CLP-325W Installation? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I bought a Samsung CLP-325W printer so that I can use it wirelessly with my Galaxy Note and Galaxy Tab 7.7. However, it needed to be set up using the included CD software which requires that the printer be connected to a computer using a printer to USB lead (A to B) during the set up procedure.
Is there any way to use Armstrong printers such as the CLP-325W with the Note without the need to have a computer for the initial set up? For that would make eliminate the need for a computer.

If you can get it connected to your wireless network using the front panel on the printer, then print out a configuration page which should show you the current IP Address. Type that IP Address into your web browser and you should be able to configure it that way.

I have a WPS button on the printer and if I had a WPS enabled router then it might be possible to manage without the need for a computer. Has anyone tried that?

[Q] Samsung Mobile Print

This new Samsung App has appeared - but it doesn't work for me - doesn't pick up my wireless network. Anyone had any success. I guess I am probably missing something obvious.
here also please interesting to know!

I've got documents available to print but it's not finding my network printer. When I check my network from my computer I see 2 computers and a printer. There are no setting to adjust so it's pretty mysterious. This would be an awesome feature.
Reading more...it works with SAMSUNG wireless and network printers. Boo
Check out the description. It says "Samsung" printers.
There is a free app on the market which does the same though. "Printbot"
google cloud print ftw (requires google chrome)

You can try our new VMLite VNC Server app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vmlite.vncserver&hl=en
so far, it works on many different models of android devices, rooting is not required.

Can it be ROM related ? on my phone the server can't use wifi connection, and sets the IP of the server on my 3G provider one which not very useful, and generally doesn't work for me.
I'd like to have my phone screen on my tablet or my computer
There might be a bug for our app to report the wifi ip address, we are fixing this. For the time being, you can do one of these:
(1) find the wifi ip address from settings, and you can connect to this ip address instead of the one reported by vmlite vnc server app
(2) use USB connection, from VMLite Android App Controller, click USB Connect button
(3) reverse connection, run tight vnc viewer in listening mode, then start vnc server in reverse mode, so the server will connect to the client

First solution worked great thks !

App that securely mount the tab as a network drive.

For mac users, its a pain to connect via usb, as mac osx does not support mtp connection.
Mac users who wish to mount your galaxy tab as a network drive via macfusion (http://macfusionapp.org/).
You can get the following app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=berserker.android.apps.sshdroid
This app basically setup a ssh server on your tab.
Now i can stream music/video from my tab wirelessly to my mac, as well as access my files use any native mac osx application.. ie using Preview to look at pdfs.
PC users who wish to use this might want to look into how to mount remote ssh server as network drive. (http://dokan-dev.net/en/).. which i havent tried yet.
I would recommend SSHelper as well, at least it doesn't force you to enable ads.

Printer setup

Not sure if this was the right place. But here's what I want to do.
I have many android devices which I would like to use Google Cloud Print on.
Here are the details of my printer: It's a WiFi printer (So it connects to my wireless router).
My raspberry pi's usb ports are used up. Instead of connecting my printer via USB. I want to connect to it over the local network and then install my pi as a Google cloud print server.
My questions are:
1. What software would I need to Install to install the printer driver over local network rather than traditional USB?
2. My printer isn't going to be on 24/7. If I send a print job and the printer is off. Can I come home and switch the printer on to be greeted with my queued prints from earlier?
Thanks.

Why do you need to set up a server? You print to the google cloud print with the info you set up there for your printer. Data never even has to touch the pi

The printer itself does not support Google Cloud Print.
It does not support any services like it either. The purpose of the printers WiFi is to make a connection with local computers. An alternative to USB only.
What I want to do is to use my pi to "add" these internet features to my printer.

I did something similar...
I've used cups on the Pi to add the printer to the Pi. The Pi runs chrome in headless mode - I've found some instructions how to set it up like an cloud print server.
I'd have to look it up how I set it up again - if I find enough free time this week I'll look for it

Create a http proxy for ios?

Hey guys, so I get my raspberry pi today, and one big thing I can't find is a way to use the raspberry pi to make a http proxy compatible with ios to avoid people trying a man in middle on public wifi, and get around firewalls/restrictions. My ipad gives me the option for a server, a port, and authentication on/Off after you go to setting>wifi>network name info>http proxy set to ON. I want to create my own proxy for us on the IPad, but don't want to use a full VPN (another area of settings). The main reason is it is a school ipad with MDM profiles on it where a VPN will get me in trouble, but there is no rule against a http proxy. So if anyone knows a way to do that, that would be awesome. I am going to create a full VPN server for use with my laptop, android phone, and android tablet, but can't use it for the school ipad. Anyone help would be useful. Any chance this would work with openvpn? It seems more simple and compatible than a hamachi setup.
Out of curiosity how do they track you? Can you leave school with it? If they are watching your traffic you can always use say ssh or SSL over VPN to mask the traffic. You should check out the app fiddler for your pc and use it to see what's going on in the background of that iPad as I'm assuming you obviously would be in deep trouble if you jail broke it. ☺

Yes, I can take it home. I'm sitting in my bed messaging you on it atm. Also I can't jailbreak it because the profiles on it won't allow me to connect to a PC. They have the mobile device management profiles on it so they can track all of my apps, wifi connection, os version, view some settings, secure their wifi password through it (fiber optics hitting up to 50 mb/s), and they have IP address filtering. I can upload it, but I got an email saying to stop playing a game and sent me a picture with my ipad name, the app name, and the IP address it was accessing. I believe with the proxy since it's under settings, and I can set the IP as a static IP to what I want at home for the pi, they won't be able to figure it out and think it a website or weird app connection, and can't tell what it is exactly. They already caught a ton of people downloading the open door app that is basically a web browser and proxy app wrapped together. I just want to use the fast speeds and not have my games and some of my blogs blocked, but not have to leave my phone in my backpack attached to my 22,000 MaH external battery to tether all day and not kill my phone. Especially with my smartwatch and bluetoothheadphones battery life is very precious.
