I did a search and went through the ICS threads but couldn't find a satisfactory answer. I'm thinking of selling my playbook and picking up this tab. As you may know, Playbook doesn't have any 3rd party video apps.
Thanks in advance.
I'm running slimdizzy's build. I took a little while to install ics on my tan as I use it to Skype the family when I'm away. The latest build I have does have the front facing camera working for video and Skype does work for me.

Hi, new to this forum, noobie
I've decided that I would love the customization stuff in Cyanogen7, so I'd like to root, flash and install a custom ROM. I'd love to have the customization of CM7 vs the stock Froyo I have from WIND. Right now, there is no crapware, and the phone is quite fast. The only thing that I wish worked is the Skype front camera, which is supposedly to work in Gingerbread. Apart from that, everything works great. I am afraid to lose the functionality, so I'd like if someone has the WIND LG with CM7, to try to answer if there are any issues with the following points:
* phone of course
* GPS, Google Maps, Market, Messaging
* both cameras, 1080p recording and HDMI output
* video talk in Skype
Also, feel free to leave a short feedback about CM7 and a recommendation. Thanks.

OK, I just saw that. Should I repost this there, or nice mods will move it?
If you are lucky there might be. A mod that moves it.
But just to save you some time. Skype have been mentioned before and its currently not possible to use video chat on any Android device equipped with Tegra 2. Some people have tried to find some one to blame for it if we should nag to Nvida or Google or skype. But I guess that the best one to aim the nagging towards is Microsoft for buying Skype and making the development slower on all "alternative" platforms.
I have heard that Gtalk support video but not tested it yet.
GTalk video chat definitely works.
Hey guys my name is alex, nice to meet you all in advance. i used to commuicate alot of the HTC hero thread, but have been away for awhile, but now back with something new.
(sorry for all the rammble)
ive had the LG thrill 3D since it came out and been slowly doing my research to flash a custom rom. so i flashed the GB baseband and flashed kings rom and i must say things went nice and smooth, i have just small question for the moment that i was hoping u guys could help me out with.
I have the google talk 1.3 with video which froyo did not have and i use it to see my family 1000 miles away and can not use my the camera facing myself. only the default cam. ive search all over with no luck.
Anything you guys can give me would be greatly appreciated. thanks
I don't know about getting Gtalk Video to work, but if you are okay with using Skype, you can video chat with the front camera.
On Froyo, I've used these steps to get the front cam working on Skype: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17977551&postcount=1
Hello,
I am running 9-20121118-NIGHTLY-tenderloin on my TP and am very satisfied with the stability of this ROM! (Camera not working)
I now bought a second TP which is supposed for my girlfriend's dad.
I am now looking for a ROM which is as stable as mine but has the camera fixed. I think CM10 is still too unstable/experimental, right?
Which CM9-ROM would you chose?
with kind regards
cosy
The camera fixes went into CM9 a week or so before Xmas and so your best bet would be the latest CM9 nightly.

As the poster above noted, the camera fix is now included with the CM9 nightlies. I use /recommend it.
If you want the camera for skype, it works much better in webOs.

Because the tablet was made for webos. That's why the battery works/lasts much longer in webOs. It's a great operating system (better than android and apple), but the lack of apps, among other things (HP's handling of it), make android so attractive. We have the best of both worlds. The only good dual booting tablet.......... :good:, as far as I know.
Jelly Bean all the way.
:good::good:
I went from CM7 to the flavours of Classic Nerd over the past year+. None of them come close to jcsullins + dorregaray, (cm-10-20121216-EXPERIMENTAL-tenderloin-FOR_LIMITED_TESTING_ONLY_CAM with moboot 0.38, cm10-jcsullins-camera-config1and today cm10-gyroscope).
I have not had a single FC. Skype with video works. The camera works, Overclocking likewise.I now have it running on three machines in my family. Look at the number of posters to each of the dev streams and you will get an idea where the money is. I cannot understand why they keep calling it a pre-alpha. Seems to be ready for prime time and then some.
Adobe Flash may also work.
My .02
I am trying to find a stable TP Rom that will support video chat in Google hangouts. Any help or advice would be appreciated. I have tried CM9, 10, 10.1.
New to the HPTP.

Welcome to the TouchPad community, jerryatherton. I've been messing with TouchPads for a couple years now, but I'm pretty new to XDA...
Anyways, to answer your question, both Schizoid 2 and Evervolv claim to support the camera and microphone. I'm assuming that's all you'll need for Hangouts. However, neither ROM supports Bluetooth, so you'll have to make that sacrifice. I haven't tried either myself, but the people who have seem to rate both rather highly. Head here to check them out.
Also, this thread discusses a patch for the microphone in CM10.
Good luck!

Thanks, Camera worked in both, but I am going with Evervolv, it is simple and seems smooth. Schizoid is awesome but I get lost in all the options.
I would like to put the latest or best working ROM that works with Skype on a Touchpad. It's for my Dad to talk to his grandchildren and he does not have a clue when it comes to these things. It will pretty much only be used for Skype so it needs to rock solid in this regard.
My understanding and experience is that the lollipop and MM ROM can have camera issues so this might rule them out, can somebody confirm or poo-poo my notion on this.

Honestly the HP TouchPad is not the best device to be using with skype, due to the poor quality camera and microphone. Even your title asking for a rom that works "..perfectly with SKYPE?" would be a bit of a stretch. I'd recommend Milaq's Kitkat build for family members. However I'd test skype out in a well lit room on the HP TP before giving it to him, if its not working well enough you might want to invest in a newer device.
[ROM] [NIGHTLY] [KitKat] [4.4] CyanogenMod 11.0 nightlies [3.0 kernel]
