Hi,
Just download K-9 email app and it's fantastic... Does everything I wanted the default app to do but couldn't... One niggle though: I have it set to check for email every minute (I may well change this if it saps the battery too quickly)...
Due to this every minute I get "Sending email" and "Checking email" in the notification bar. This is pretty annoying and I'd prefer it to only notify me if there is actually something new.
Is this possible? If so, how?
Cheers.
Any ideas? :|
I have mine set to check every 15mins and those notifications stay stuck there anyways. It is pretty annoying.
Great app otherwise.
Anyone help ????
I have set my Hero Email app so that when I get and email, it informs me, and I can open, and read it, This is when I set the pop and smtp settings. But I also get another notification icon, which only lets me read the email, not reply to it, so I get two notifications.....
I only want the one from the email app, pop account, how do I cancel the other notification ????
Thanks all
Ian
That's a notification from the Gmail app.
It seems to me that either you're picking up your Gmail via POP in the Email app, or you use something other than Gmail for your email, but have set up a Gmail account which is also picking up your email via POP.
In either case, if you want to switch of notifications from Gmail, go into the Gmail app and then "Menu"->"Settings" and untick "Email Notifications" which will switch of the Gmail notification.
Regards,
Dave
Thanks Dave,, thats just what I was hoping someone would say....

Hey Ian, I don't mean to hijack your thread, but my question is applicable here.
I am using the Gmail notification widget from the Market. When I get an email, the widget reflects the number of unread items. So, I no longer have a need for the notification in the taskbar. Problem is, there seems to be no way to disable the taskbar notification without disabling the sound and vibrate as well! (where is my "banging head against the wall" smilie?)
Anyone know how to resolve this. Handcent is the same way. Disable the taskbar notification and you lose your sound notification as well.
I have been able to get push notifications for yahoo mail, and gmail but for facebook I'm never able to get them...I don't know what the problem is. I have installed the android version of the app fromt he market, and have set notifications on through the apps settings. I do get notifications, if I go into the app and click on facebook...(the notification bar on the bottom will have a red popup with the number of notifications) But that is not push right?
Push is where the notification gets sent instantly to your phone, and it comes on your pull down notification menu...So why can't I get this to work...I've tried setting the interval to 30 mins, to 1 hour, to never, nothing works. Please help!!! Btw my Galaxy S is running gingerbread...
Think I've found a bug with the Gnote.
I have 2 email accounts on my Gnote and have set different notification tones for each of them. I have downloaded the Zedge App and set another notification tone for my text messages......
Now, if I receive an email in my google mail account, I get a notification sound to let me know, followed seconds later by a notification to tell me I have a new text message!!!! I even get the "M" symbol appear in the notification bar at the top of the Gnote screen. Needless to say, I do not have any new text messages when this happens!!
I have tried all sorts to stop this by resetting notifications etc and starting again but I can replicate the problem by cleaning out my google mail account and sending myself another mail. The first new mail into the google mail account triggers the effect. I thought I had stopped the problem by turning off all email notifications but this was a false positive. Later in the evening I got a new text message notification, only to find out it was actually a new email in my google ail account again.
This is driving me bonkers as I am expecting an important text message at the mo.
Am I missing something in the settings, or is this a genuine fault?
I have my Gear set up with my Note 3 and it seems to be working ok.
I am getting notifications through, but I cannot get into the email on the Gear to read it.
I understand that with GMail you only get basic info, but i was of the understanding that an email account set up in the stock email app, should deliver a notification and you should be able to get the text body of the email?
Has anyone else managed to get the text body?
If I try and select the email in the notifications I regularly get a error, "Sorry notifications has stopped"
Any help appreciated.

It works fine for me. Make sure you set email in the notfiications setting under settings in the Gear app. I get my gmail and hotmail accounts tru it and works perfectly. Text message, not so good, but email works like a champ.

So when you get an email notification (not Gmail) and it comes up on the Gear, you can touch it and the text of the email shows?
Cheers

Yeppers, works great for me. Hope you get it going.
Like he was saying make sure you have the settings right in the gear manager app. I can read the entire email.

Hmmmm, out of interest, if you don't mind saying, what is the domain of the normal email?
I have a iCloud account set up as IMAP and a outlook.com (new Hotmail) account, and even after a reset of the Gear and Handset, and a fresh set up, the Notifications app on the Gear still regularly gives me a screen saying, "Unfortunately the Notifications have stopped"
Argggggggg!
You guys get the whole email message with the Gmail app or with the stock crap email client on the watch?

Full message or text only works with the stock email and text apps.

Just discovered that the app, dynamic notifications was interfering with my notifications, everything works fine now that I disabled it. So anyone else who uses that, check that out.

I also found out that Dynamic Notifications isn't necessary any longer now that I use the Gear!
