[Q] Mods for Stock JPY

hi you all...
first of all i have to thanks all the devs that help people with their mods...
I have a few questions that maybe someone else can have them too...
- What is the difference (it terms of capcability to be modded) between stock JPY and Doc's or other cooker JPY?
- i tryed a few mods and some of them "kill" my phone soo i have to reflash the stock rom... most of them related to battery % (i think that could be related to the mod be designed for modded roms)
- what mods do you recommend to stock ROM... (i'm searching for extended power menu, and 4 locks... since i already have android stock lock and % at battery indicator)... i'm also searching for ginger battery indicator with %.
- should i change (and how to) to a modded ROM?
I do some research before make this post, but i think that could be a very good help to people who have the stock rom.

Stock is as came from the factory cooked roms have been changed in one way or the other generally for better usage .

If a mod killed your phone you have done something wrong more often than not

Just read the main posts is all you can do see what is being offered in each rom .

About the kill, I know I don't do anything wrong, simply the mod was probably designed for deodex ROM and original ROM is odex

check the thread where the theme was downloaded.
there are a million issues when applying themes to darkys ROMs. i have experienced this many times.
the problem is the ROM takes up to much space under /system / data ( i think ) and you have to remove certain things from that folder in order for the theme to successfully apply itself.
Some work 1st time, some dont work at all.

Is that so? What would be the best ROM for applying themes if that's the case? All I read and hear is Darky's ROM this Darky's ROM that so I went for that instead.
I think I found the problem - I didn't have CWM installed... We'll see how it goes.

All you hear is darky rom this darky rom that is not from this forum . Its just one of many .Read the posts in development section for a flavour of roms .

I've had to reinstall 2.3.3 using ODIN four times now... What do you two suggest I do when it comes to choosing roms? I'm sick of having to reinstall every time I get the bootloop cause the installation of a theme went wrong.

Stop flashing the theme, or try another rom.

I don't try the same theme every single time, there's only one theme I've been able to flash and it was ugly as shet.

Is your current ROM 'De-odexed' Meaning, is your ROM a custom ROM or a stock ROM

I've decided to reinstall Darky's ROM. I just read somewhere that it may be in the bootloop cause of the bootanimation.zip or something and that if I delete that it'll get out of the bootloop? I got out of the thread, I forget where it is

Hi i am using 2.2 s-off and rooted hd.... i am on 1,32 stock rom and have made modifications to framework via updatezip and smhow love it...now i flashed RCMix HD v5.9.6.... and now those moddings nomore work neither my created theme at

And sm how after flashing the rom... the top signals and battery are stock only..... can sm1 tell me how to mod old custom framework and theme file.....?

A title more explanatory than "help help help" would actually be more informative and help others look for the exact problem.
That said, you will need to pull your framework-res through adb.. make all the modifications you earlier made and push it back .. here is a thread i wrote some time back about doing this .. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=927405 .. I think there are better and easier methods available. You will just need to search around if you find this too hard

I'm new to this forum and I'm still new to Android
I have tried a lot of modded ROM in my galaxy s but the luck of full arabic support is important to me, recently the new Firmware finaly come with Jpjv6 2.3.3, I have installed root and lagfix of JVO and it's work like a charm but modes like touchwiz 4 and tv animation didn't work on the JV6 I'm stuck in rebooting
is it hard to convert the modes from one to another version?
I would do it by my self but with some help from you guys

Just flash a custom ROM with Arabic support. There are quite a few in the development section...

so is there any way to apply mod manually like to use root explorer to but specific files in the right place

You'll find several TW4 mod threads in development section. Each have their own specific instructions. Just search for the same and you'll find it! You should find CRT off animation as well...

[Q] Kernel's problem with Zeus

Hello,
I had some SOD with zeus 4.02 so I installed Kernel_4.4.3_eabi but now it's worst, so how can I return to Zeus's kernel.
Should I install v4.02b_int or v4.02b_int_up ?
Do I need wipe ?

PS: the Nova's kernel V11 look great does it compatible or better ?

The problem is, if you install v4.02b_int, you will automatically get a FULL wipe!
And the other one, just applies this here:
v4.02:
- Added the possibility to select ascending/constant ringtone through zeus script (big thanks to TugaSoulHunter)
So either you grab the full ROM, take the boot.img out, modify the updater-script and flash it, or you simply install the ROM again, or even better will be, to install one of Huexxx new test ROMs, since those seem to be bugfree

is the V5 and the v5.01(update) new rom versions?
I have the ROM Zeus 4.0.2b and i dont have any kind of bug.... Should i install that? (v5)
But if i only want a new kernel, what do you suggest?

My uncle once told me: NEVER touch a running system.
So in other words, as long as you dont have problems with your device, why would you wanna change ANYTHING? for the kick of flashing new stuff?
v5 is a new version, Huexxx started to cook from scratch again. Idk on which version it is built, but you had to do a full-wipe again, in order to install it. Is that worth it to you? Especially, you wont even know, if the new kernel is ANY better than the one you are using right now... It' s up to you mate, but I wouldnt change a thing
And for extrcting the kernel of a ROM, you ll need dsixda's Android Kitchen and quite a lot of knowledge, but you can do it, cause there are a lot of guides out there, how to do it Then you need to figure out, how to install a new kernel. Therefore grab a Kernel from the first post, extract it, look at the commands in updater-script, refine them for your kernel, repack everything, sign it and flash it to your phone. That's how easy it is
Oh I think you can also simply take the boot.img, replace the one in Huexxx first post with the updated one (from V5 or 5.1), sign the .zip file and flash it. Even easier
AND DONT BLAME ME FOR SCREWING YOUR PHONE!!! It's not my problem, if you dont know what you are doing/what you have to do
