[Q] How to revert to gingebread from ics? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi i have been using the team hacksung cm9 build 17 for a few days.. I love the rom but i think i am not using samsung anymore, not without the wonderful video player and camera app in stock.. So I was wondering if anyone could help me go back to a gb rom.. 2.3.5 or 2.3.6?

Use Odin to flash a stock rom from your PC.(follow this guide if you don't know)

Give miui a shot. Not v4

Hi,
You should download a stock 2.3.6 + cfroot kernel. Step by step: start phone in download mode (hold volume down+menu+power butons) connect to pc. Make sure kies is installed. Start odin load the rom file to pda press start. Wait until reboot. Repeat the first steps but load cfroot kernel instead of rom file. Enjoy

[Q] Help me install MIUI 2.3.4 (MGv1)

Hello!
Can you please help me install MIUI 2.3.4 (MGv1)?
I have Android 2.3.3 official in my Galaxy S. I have Clockwork Mod.
Do I have to install some 2.2 ROM before installing MIUI?
Link to the MIUI guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=992251
Best regards, Galaxy S Subben.
yes you'll need to flash a 2.2 ROM before you can flash MIUI.
All i did was go to samfirmware.com and flashed the 2.2.1 XXJPY as pda with no repartition. took less than 5 minutes to flash, and then followed the MIUI guide exactly as written in the second post of that thread, and have had no issues whatsoever.
flash official froyo firmware to get the correct froyo bootloader, then simply follow the installation from the first page of the miui thread. works everytime for me
The best way is to flash JPU becaus it brings a new bootloader to you.
Then i´ve read that its good to flash the MIUI RC7 stock first and then the MGv2 in the recovery.
Just an update to my previous post, search the forums for ezbase and use that to go to a 2.2 rom, it is easy as pie to do, and their instructions are easy to follow.

I swear by ezbase too, great as a recovery image

[Q] Anybody from Newcastle (UK)?

hello guys,
I am looking for someone who is able to flash my friends Samsung galaxy s i9000. It has still the Froyo software on it. I successfully flashed my to ics but I am not able to do this with the other device. It has a strange basebuild no. I'm not sure how to do this.
Can anyone help me? I would be really thankful.
Cheers
Is no one able to help me?
The baseband is the modem. Should make no difference to which rom you flash. Is it on eclair, froyo or gingerbread?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
Sorry, just noticed you've said froyo. You just need to flash stock gb rom, then the semaphore kernel to match for cwm and root, then you're good to go for any custom rom you wish.

This smartphone has JM1 installed. Sorry but I am an absolutly newbie. I only was able to flash my one with a step by step guidance.
I haven't found anything about JM1 How to flash etc.
I am a little bit desperate now ....
Search for a stock gb rom (jvu/jw1 are recent) with gb bootloaders and follow the flashing instructions using odin.

Sorry, where do I find something like this? After flashing with Odin I will be able to put ICS from teamhacksung on it?
See perka's jvu thread in dev section, there is an odin flashable download.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
Once flashed, boot up, turn off, then flash cf-root kernel for jvu - use the search function to find thread or go to read first couple of pages of perka's thread for a link.
Once you're rooted, you'll be good to go.

Is it this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108 ?? You mean JVU is compatible with JM1?
Thank you for your help!
If you're friend needs a rom i'd start by either flashing Darky's ROM 10.2 RE with full instructions including a vid tutorial on that thread
or
Flash Jetpack v8.2 with instructions and a vid tutorial in that thread.
The reason why i recommend those two ROMS, is they're particularly easy to flash and have good support.
I'd start with Darky's ROM and then move to other ROMS from there if you want, because it's a fast, very stable rom with a brilliant community for support. Plus you dont need much expertise to flash it, and it comes packaged with root and clockwork mod recovery installed, so you dont need to do anything to prepare your phone for flashing. This ROM does it all. If you wanna move off from there, well then you're all set. But if you're friend just wants a fast stable ROM, then he's all set with Darky. If he wants a bit extra speed, then move to Jetpack V8.2 it's stable and no bugs and its very fast and features thunderbolt! tweaks preinstalled, which are custom tweaks written by a guy called pikachu01 and they improve the SGS very well. They dont require too much expertise to install, but this saves you hassle and gives you all those added benefits from thunderbolt!.
If you're really keen on this teamhacksung ICS build then go to the darky rom and then from there install teamhacksungs build. Just make sure you read carefully to know what you're doing.

Flash a stock gingerbread rom. Then flash a custom kernel like semaphore. After that you can install ics.

New to S.. Wanna flash

Guys, recently bought galaxy S i9000 with froyo
Now i wanna switch of a ICS rom which is stable and bugless with ofcourse battery life..
So how can i upgrade.
Plz guide
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA.
You will want to root your phone first, look in i9000 General on how to do that.
Then, look in the i9000 Development forum for an ICS ROM and follow instructions.
I think you need GB bootloaders first. Best is to upgrade with kies to GB->root->flash ICS.
Go to chainfire kernel thread in development section.there you will get all the steps to root your phone. Then go to ics ROM of your choice i would recommend CM9 or team nyx...open the thread you will get the info how to flash...you will have to flash twice...and it's done
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA
Okay i will update first to GB via kies and then root it and with CWM i will flash custom ICS, correct step ?
Yes it is

[Q] My Galaxy Note GT-N7000

Hi everyone i have bought a second hand galaxy note n7000 which has a custom rom already installed on it

Kernel version
3.0.15-franco.Kernel
[email protected] #3

Build number
KingDroid ICS NoteMania Edition v2.0
i am wanting to go back to its original ics stock rom when the phone was first bought, how do i go about doing this, just to note i have
experience with rooting & flashing of roms but i just want to make sure i do it the best & correct way any help would be appreciated
Download the stock rom GB ot ics.
put the phone in download mode
connect to pc.
Open odin and select the rom file in pda
flash it
if u decide to go to gb.. then u can do a factory reset from recovery
if u chose ics, then u will need to install a safe kernel first before a factory wipe.
As it's second hand, once you're on rom of choice with rooted kernel, it may be worth installing the following app to check emmc for any possible damage:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.vinagre.android.emmc_check

yes.. use pc odin.
May be worth doing full wipes before flashing while you're on safe kernel.

[Q] How to uninstall Cyanogenmod 7?

I've been using CM 7 on my Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830 and recently it has started to crash really frequently... So how do I remove it?
I understand that I'll have to download some "ROM" and go into download mode (how?) and then do something..
Please have in mind that my USB is NOT working for some odd reason but I can transfer files to my phone via Airdroid if transferring ROMs(?) is a thing I have to do.
EDIT: My android version CURRENTLY (with CM) is 2.3.7, before it was 2.0.2.
You're in the wrong section. Please post in the right section next time.
Try searching a flashable Stock ROM. If u don't find one, buy a new USB cable.

So I guess I'm staying with Cyanogenmod...
You can try a Stock Based Rom or even a CM 7 based ROM which is more stable.
A few good ROMs have been reviewed by me here,

1. Flash your current official firmware via Odin
2. Upgrade to Gingerbread flashing a stock rom via Odin
I advice you to be careful flashing GB roms when you are using Froyo, so you should upgrade to GB before flashing a GB custom based rom

There's no such thing as uninstalling a rom, just flash a new one and you're good to go
