Instead of ICS how about someone porting some bluetooth drivers to our phone so i can use my ps3 controller with it. I dont use it for anything anyways, so if getting the driver to work for it and not for headset I would still be happy. I chatted with someone from LG and they said "Ginno: it is possible, but remember that I cannot suggest or advise to brick the phone =P"......So someone please just make my phone cool again. I know that the drivers from a droid x2 will work with a ps3 controller. Just maybe some one give me some tips on rom making and ill give it a shot. If it dont work ive got an upgrade coming and lg will be no more.
It will be in the kernel not in the rom. I could look into adding them, but I don't have a ps3 to test with. You can buy me one and I can work on it lol! Come into the irc sometime and ask me there (if I am on, been VERY busy this past week and haven't been on much). I will need someone to test it and don't like waiting on messaging back and forth, so irc is the best way lol.

just give me a list of software id need and ill be ready for any time that is convenient for you but i work 3rd shift so evenings are better. Also I'm in EST time zone.
I'd rather have ICS because I'm pro Xbox
Xbox is ok but id rather have a playstation controller. Easier to play psx games with a ps controller. Plus i dont really like xbox controllers, classic or 360. I was on IRC but got disconnected for inactivity, was wait for response from anyone.
I don't think this a "development" post

Sure it is, trying to develop a bluetooth driver that will allow the connection of a ps3 controller to our phone. I know im not the only 1. plus the right drivers will also allow the wii controller to connect to our phone. A must have for any nes emulators. Also mt Ive got a neighbor who has an extra ps3 controller ill see if i can get it for you.

It definitely would be a tweak however OP didn't post a Bluetooth driver so this is not a Dev post... I could start a post that says 'screw ics, somebody work on turning the Revo into a tazer' and unless I posted resources or instructions about how to do exactly that, it wouldn't be a Dev post...

Well for one, it obviously does matter where it goes so stop being a child because a correction was made. Also, I'm sorry but if you really think XDA is dying away then you're more clueless than childish. The topic shouldn't have been posted where it was and has since been moved. I cannot stress enough that THIS IS FOR BIONIC ONLY. You should not attempt this for use with other devices such as the Droid 3 except at your own risk. The D3 specifically has differences that will cause your internal storage to wipe if you attempt to use this bootstrap on it.

I'm brave, but not that brave.
Yeah, its a use at your own risk kind of thing, obviously.
Maybe someone can get CVPCS to take a look at the D3, the work is mostly done with the bionic.
DO NOT USE THE BIONIC BOOTSTRAP. He posted on his blog this same warning.
I REPEAT: DO NOT USE BIONIC BOOTSTRAP.

Not sure what's wrong with a dev-related topic being posted in the dev section, but in my opinion, the real bummer is that CVPCS is developing for the Bionic instead of the D3 (like I hoped). BTW guys, there is work being done with the D3 don't worry. We already have a semi working CWM based recovery in the beta stage atm. there are a few dedicated devs working on the D3.
Also keep in mind its only going faster for the bionic devs because our devs have been working so hard on things like 2init and root, granted it does seem we were skipped over by the majority of devs.

Basically, that page is telling you to do something that just isn't possible at this time. In order to install CM7 (what that page is suggesting), someone will have to port it to our specific device. There are going to be things that will need drivers, recompiling, etc. before it can be installed on a Thrill.

Unfortunately LG has to build the source if you want to be able to use the 3D stuffs. We have cm7 that works but due to real3d being proprietary an aosp gingerbread build wont allow for that stuff to work.

Patience. Remember that this is a new phone. And the 3D application is still new so it takes a bit to get things optimized for specialized features on devices.
I believe they're making some progress on CM for the EVO3D. Should be somewhat applicable.

There is also progress being made on the Optimus 3D, which is essentially the same device as ours. Patience will pay off on this one.
OP: don't take all the angry/annoyed comments too personally, I think my first post here got the same reaction! Nobody is trying to be an asshole to you though, its just that the rules are pretty clear but there's a constant influx of new members who unknowingly break the rules and it annoys the devs that want to use this sub-forum for its intended use. Just read the rules and you'll be good

I was running some unofficial build of CM7 for a couple weeks this month, it was clearly made for the optimus 3d, not thrill, and I didn't even try using any of the 3d applications because people complained about it causing force closes... But other than that, it was extremely impressive! The speed/fluidity was incredible. I didn't like how it handled storage, but that was my first time using CM7 so I probably just need to get used to it.
Anyway, if you can go without 3d for a while, the unofficial CM7 port for optimus 3d is impressive! I think the link is on the dev forum in optimus 3d. Oh, and I personally didn't have any problems with my network data, so I'd suggest trying it out before flashing some other radio, it might not be necessary.
Can this post be moved to the "General" section yet since there's no "Development" going on in it?
This is an amazing hack by Hashcode! He built a hack to load CM7 on the Droid 3 that will also work on the Droid Bionic! I tested it on the Droid Bionic today and it worked! (ya I am crazy)
Now you need to note that this is in the begining stages, but with us Devs teaming up, this can be great!
Thanks to Hashcode and of course Cyanogenmod team!

What's currently broken in this one?
Just curious, I know this isn't a stable release. More wondering into the generals about it.
This is the excitement I've needed lately. I've been reading the hype on the galaxy nexus and razr which have been eclipsing our new bionics. I know that's just how it seems to me, in reality its the bootloader that its slowing the development and further excitement. Cyanogen was stellar on my OG Droid. Koush rules!

I'm greatly appreciative of your comments mistawolfe. I was a victim of TDB with the X2 promises. After two months of waiting and very little progress on the X2 anywhere else, I gave up and threw in the towel. That was my lesson -- money wasted. I now own a Bionic and I can't be happier. And now, when I donate, it's to sites like MDW, Rootzwiki, DL and here. At least that way, I have a reasonable expectation that my money is going to good uses. I live for forums like these and I will do all that I can to help them thrive. I was just very touched and happy to hear that someone else identified with my pain. Thanks again.

I was already gone from my x2 when I stumbled across the Rootz thread. It's funny, Butch starts out all nice and open to the other members, then as soon as he gets the phone he changes tone. I'm in sales, so we call that the old "bait and switch" - By the end of it he was just downright nasty - probably crushed many people. I sat and read the whole thread one day and was just disgusted.
I'm not saying he should have given them a blow by blow on a daily basis, but if you read the thread from start to finish you'll see what I'm talking about. Absolutely no respect for that guy - ZILCH.

Or just get an ics theme for your blur rom as you wait it out.

The link in the last post is the rom I was referring to. Most of the ICS rooms can be found on the droidhive forums.

Why not just link to it in the first place or tell him where to find it and save the forum some posts. Just because it was a yes or no question, don't mean your actually helping by only saying yes.

In the top right there is a search button.
If people actually use it this thread would never have started.
Well thanks guys for the info anyways.

Some people use the xda app, which doesn't have a search button on top. I have barely used a computer to access xda in almost 6 months. On another note, finding things for the bionic is much harder than it is on many other devices. This is my first android which I had to use 4-5 different websites to find all the files I needed. With my previous phones, xda was the first place to look for something, but with the bionic, it seems like xda is the last place you want to check. With some files, it was easier to google bionic root than it was to find it on here.
I've always felt that the rooting community are the embasssadors for Android and unless we are actively developing, we should be more than willing to help others who are having problems. The more we can help them, the less they will have to bother the developers for help. While some questions are based on people being lazy, many of them are based on the user not knowing better. The bionic seems to have a lot of newer android owners which helps explain the repetition of questions. I suggest when offering help, also let the user know of the rules we go by when searching before asking.
The sooner someone can get their phone running nice, the sooner they can go show it off to their friends and help promote the growth of android. I know I used to impress my iPhone friends back when I was new with wifi tether. They couldn't get a signal and needed to use mine. A couple of those people are now on Android.

Well written. More people should think like this.

I agree with everything you said, OTHER then the search functionality. I as well only use the XDA app. But from the home screen if the app, if you click the upper right hand tabs that says "more" it has the search function there. Which would save reposts over and over in all phone forums. It is irritating to read through forums, looking for new things, and reading the same questions over and over.
