Sent from Samsung Galaxy Ace

I'm using Rom Manager and official CyanogenMod since date of release and it's still working fine...normal functions like backup and rebooting into recovery working without any problems

i restore cwm from previous rom which is cm7 build vo1. and it works perfectly fine.
i just dont want to touch rom manager as it is a 'curse' to ace user. hhe

Don't worry - it will not brick your phone! Just make sure you select Manual Flash Override in the menu!

seems like u guys didnt get the point. what is wrong with rom manager is its flashing method of cwm when u still doesnt have cwm in the first place. it doesnt matter if u can use it on current cm7 when u already got cwm preinstalled.
do most of us a favour by test it throughly. flash stock rom via odin, root your phone, install rom manager and try to flash cwm from it.
got my point now? it doesnt work to flash cwm. u'll get a hardbrick ace on first reboot after trying to flash cwm from it.
on other device it works flawlessly on stock or sense or motoblur or whatever rom on the device to flash cwm.
u might say it works with u now because u already had cwm preinstalled, but how do u expect to answer if someday comes a newbie with a fully stock rom and stock recovery, asking if he can use rom manager to flash cwm, would u say it'll work then? think about it

It doesn't let you flash CWM for ace anyway, so if you use the manual override it will work. I have experienced my phone bricking when using this, however if done correctly it shouldn't wreak it. Noobs shouldn't be doing this kind of thing anyway, so I don't see what your issue is.

he is telling that ROM manager may be working in cm7 nightly build .. but as you are already on cwm it may be recognizing cwm properly...
just don't make announcements like rom manager now works on SGA as noobs will be downloading it from market and hardbricking devices

Well atleast someone got the point
I got no issue if its "working" for u, good for u then. Its just still a known fact that it can brick ace. Saying its working can bring disaster. Its not working yet, just partially.

I don't know what is the big deal doing something via ROM Manager. Why do we need to use it when we can do the same thing manually already?

Now that CM7 has full bluetooth functionality, I don't think there's any reason for people not to try it out! Gingerbread minus the horrible LG laggyness.
I would use it, if the fm radio would work.

Hello,
i have to say that i disagree on this , cm is now really reliable ,this is daily use for me.Everything ( or nearly) works fine now .fast , daily use and correct battery is what define the current cm.
On the other hand , i agree that we have really nice rom but look , last topogigi's is really good also , i agree , but on my own experience , on overall use , i feel more comfortable with cm because even with the last SP , somme issue can occur.
GR3 is not daily use according to me ATM but as usual each phone has its own problems so this is what i feel , not the average experience
I was lucky on stock rom ( never had a problem on it ) , i must be unlucky on custom rom

It is your right to disagree but that doesnt make it correct, if the nightlys are so great and the so called stable version is better then why is it every single day someone posts a topic on the cyanogen forum saying that something is constantly force closing and the only way to fix it is to restore a backup or re-flash the rom...yeah no thanks.
I also never had problems on the stock 2.2.2 rom but i wanted it to be faster and to be up to date with new apps/games that wanted 2.3 to run so i looked for the most stable roms and topogigis has proven to be that rom and iv had zero issues since settings it all up im happy.
As said above the long wait is over lg is rolling out gb ......every 1will be able to update from 21st of oct

Except if your USB gets buggered after installing a custom ROM. Then you're stuffed aren't you? I had this issue with my first handset after I installed Modaco. Luckily, the phone was still within the initial 28 day replacement period here so they didn't bother checking and sent me another one.

This is a really fast ICS rom, probably the fastest I've used.
This Rom takes a while to start on first boot in general, and slightly longer than you'd think on start-up in general. Don't freak out If it stays on the Exhibit screen for a bit.
Edit: I made a typo, If you DL'd 'V4' It's the same as right now, I just made a typo in the forum topic -_-

I definitely agree that this is the fastest ROM, possibly snappier than stock.
My one qualm with it is almost any pop up (GoSMS popup, the menu in the play store, etc) will pop up, then slowly grow for the next few seconds, making it hard to tap what I wanted to. Any idea how to fix this?

I had this same issue, it needs to be added to the OP. Go to developer options and disable window animation scale.
I would also like to report that it's not just the first boot that takes awhile, at least for me. Each boot is significantly longer than on Core2Idiot's CM9 build, but it's definitely bearable.
Other than that, this is an amazingly snappy rom, no overclocking needed. Definitely the fastest this side of android 4.0, but not sure if it beats RebelROM.
Sent from my SGH-T679 using xda premium
I'll change that, I think the creator just set the default window animation speed to be that way but I agree it is annoying

Great work on this Rom. My current daily driver, and my favorite out of your Roms. Didn't enjoy the Galaxy S theme of RemICS-JB as much as I thought I would, and Ehendroix theme is just not good looking to me. Of course those are just aesthetics and the Roms themselves are solid, did not have the issues others are reporting. Keep up the work and maybe we will see this Rom end up JB based instead of ICS. Thanks

OP updated, rebuild based on the newer Galaxy S+ version; It still looks pretty much the same.
The boot times are still long, but it is slightly speedier than before which is saying a lot
Window scale speed is still sloooow, disable it since I think it's meant to be that way by default at this point anyhow.
Edit: I've been playing around with this a bit, It really is in my opinion the fastest ICS rom, It's perfect for games

We can just flash it over the last build right? Or not because you built it from a different phone?
Also, it's definitely the fastest ics rom, I'd even say it's the fastest out of all of the 4.0+ roms.

[Q] Slim Bean and navigation. SOLVED, DONE.

Hi! I need your help,please.
So first the data: LG Optimus 4XHD P880, Slim Bean rom von @demetris_I, Kernel optimus prime von @demetris_I
Navigation and gps status does not work.
Start the app gps status---Search for satellite---Everything is found: 11 satellites which 8 satellite fix.---quit the application---My phone hangs and freezes---reboot
Start the navigation---Search for satellite---Navigation is crazy, hangs and freezes.---Only helps to perform a reboot
I have tested three different navigation---sygic,tomtom,navigon---again and again the same problem---phone freeses.
I'm going crazy! On the rom Mokee and officially CM10 I have no problems.
I can create a log twice. Can anyone evaluate? What is the cause of this error?
Thank you very much

I've been scruttenizing your logcat and can't find any clues. Android location services seem to be running, so location data should be available to apps. I see no indication of a problem. Only thing I see is CPUQuiet acting up a bit, but that should not cause the problem.
I think you have some leftover junk from anothe ROM giving you troubles. I would advice a complete wipe (dalvik/cache/factory) of your phone and reinstalling ROM and Kernel.
After that only install your favorite nav. app. and see if it works (give it time for it's first fix though). After that keep adding your favorite apps and keep checking your nav. app. to see if it keeps working.
I'm sorry I can't find a clear cause for the problem.

I use V7.8 SlimROM on V2.53 of OP kernel and I've got none of these problems. 3G and GPS work perfectly. So saying probem is in the ROM does not have to be true. Could also be bad flash or corrupt download. Try completly wiping phone and do a manual system/format and reinstall. If the problem still excist, then maybe there is a fault in the ROM. Or maybe different hardware versions of P880 excist, so that some work and some don't?

Then the problem is some leftover junk from the 4.3 installation. Completly wiping cache, Dalvik, Userdata and doing a manual system format should get rid of all that junk.

I tried to do everything. From wipes to format but I had to reflash the original stock with kdz to resume the functions 3g and gps. Now I want to do a clean re-install of Slimbean but wanted to know if I can flash it directly from stock 4.1.2 to SlimBean 8.0 without going through CyanogenMod
Yes u can

Strange..Then maybe formatting all does not format every nook and cranny of the phone and the original .kdz does overwrite the junk...I did not know that.
And for installing SlimROM V8 without going through CM:
Yes no problem. CM is not needed at all. CM is just another ROM, like SlimROM, Jellybeeer, etc. You can always directly flash the ROM you want.

well, baseband partition f.e. is only flashed trough kdz and is preserved trough rom flashes.

Yes no problem. CM is not needed at all. CM is just another ROM, like SlimROM, Jellybeeer, etc. You can always directly flash the ROM you want.

[FIX] NAE KitKat SD Card Write Error (Flashable)

Hey everyone.
First off thanks for to fgr for providing this fix.
I'm not as active as I used to be, but I do read the threads and a common problem that's cropping up on the stock NAE roms is the SD card writing error. With the new update, they "forgot" to write the permission line for SD cards into the system. So we do what we've always done "fix" their mistakes.
I based this fix on fgr's directions and unknownforce's Stock NAE build. It may work on others, but I've only tested it on that.

First things First
If you want to run this fix, you will need to put it on the SD card before you install the NAE ROM.
OR
You can remove your SD card and install the fix via an adapter from your computer if you are already running the NAE ROM and you are prevented from accessing your internal or external "card".
And thank you for the "FIX".zip

Good tips sir!
I personally just flashed the ROM. Downloaded this file and transferred it via Philz Recovery (Mount USB Storage). I would expect if you've downloaded it to the internal storage after flashing NAE, you could still install it from the recovery menu.
Head nod - Yes

Yes this way too.
So you can't put it on the EXT SD Card if you have one and flash it?
Also, will this only work on the NAE ROM? Sac23 is updating his ROM to 4.4.2 (NAE based) really soon, will it work on that? Bc your OP states you've only tested it on Unknownforce's NAE stock rooted ROM.
Thanks though!

This should work on any stock NAE ROM. Not knowing what a dev might have changed on a custom ROM, I don't want to say otherwise.

I agree here ... Sac will likely fix any issues prior to his release. But just in case ... This will likely work just fine.
This is really only intended to be temporary, until the "Big Wigs" take the next step.
Root Browser in Rom Tool box works great.i want this so Root Explorer will work right again.

@cmonsterf50, This works OE perfect!

Worked perfectly. Flashed from internal storage, because, um, I couldn't save to my ext SD card.
Sent from my NAE Yes It Boots ROM.
I flashed this and I still couldn't write to my external sd card. Is there something I'm missing? I'm using The Pirate Bay Browser and Utorrent, both from the play store and it will write to internal but not external, even after I flashed this.
I just read about this. It's not something they left out, it's a security measure. Only Google apps or carrier apps can write to your external SD card, NOT apps you install yourself.
I've flashed this on a few phones on NAE and it's always worked great. Thanks man!, saved me a lot of headache.

I still cannot write to my sd card even after using the fix here is a screen shot of the platform.xml file.

Could you test this ROM, because i dont own Galaxy Vibrant for long time, and need somebody to test this.
Hmm, maybe later i will make KitKat ROM, but i doubt it, 4.1.2 Jelly is the best.
Greetings :good:
Okay. I just installed the Rom. And the first bug I noticed was neat kernel not working on it. Also, in the default keyboard. When I long press a button to type a number, it force closes.
---------- Post added at 07:03 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:27 PM ----------
Another thing. In the recent apps. There's an icon for the task manager but it does nothing.

Yeah about kernel, i just read it, new kernel is for only for KitKat you need to install older version of Neat Kernel for Jelly Bean.
Thanks for feedback.
PS: Could you post some screenshoots. :good:
My idea Ha-ha, best!
I wanted to make TouchWiz ROM based on AOSP 4.2.

ok, let them us then semaphore kernel or stock :cyclops:
After using this rom for a few days. I have some things to say. Firstly, i like how touchwizzy it feels. I almost believed that I had ab S4/S5. But there were many downsides in my experience. Firstly, it is really slow. Even with neat kernel installed and OC'd to 1.2 GHZ. I experienced many slow downs and wayyyyyy too many force closes. Also, I have missed many notifications. for example, I opened facebook messenger and sent a message. At the time i wasnt told of any new messages. Later in the day I re-opened the app and saw that I had a message from a different person that was sent to me an hour before i sent the message, I wasnt notified nor was it shown in the app at the time. Hopefully a KK based rom like this would be smoother. for now ill be back on KK.

About the push notifications, please give Push Notifications Fixer (a root Play Store app) a try. Read its description first so you know what, how and why you should give it a try on every ROM. It has worked for me and I no longer am missing notifications on both my Vibrant and GS3.

Cyanogenmod on 9000 ,vibrant and captivate has same partion layout so you can install any rom and just change to any compatable kernel.

But not the same button layout. That's why it's recommended to port over the /system/usr folder where the layout files are as per this thread, correct?

you're absolutely correct. that's what i was trying to tell him about in the cm11 thread for the cappy. just need to copy over system/usr folder and the necessary kernel files, edit the updater-script as for build.prop that's just optional but i prefer to do it so it reflects back as a vibrant in device info.
