I really want to root my device, but kinda scared. Can anyone comment any easy ways that work on the lg revolution
Go to the development section there is an all in one root made by mtmichaelson. Very easy to do just read the instructions and no issues.

Indy is correct. I got a new Revo sent out and within 10 minutes I had it rooted with MT's program.

Your best bet is to read all you can about rooting. Set CPU is so you can under or overclock your phone if you have an overclocked kernal like in GV.

Okay so if I download that all I'n one thing and install it I'm all set to go? Or do I need to download a rom as well?

I read online that it is possible to install the base Android 2.3.4 on the LG Thrill 4G.
http://m.answers.downloadatoz.com/q,14906,how-to-update-lg-thrill-4g-to-android-2-3-4-firmware.html
Above referenced is the website describing how to install 2.3.4 I just would like more information from someone more knowledgeable about the Thrill and Android. Is it actually possible and will 2.3.4 fully function on this phone?

Yeah this topic should be deleted.

WHY should it be deleted why wont anyone explain what they say..
Sent from my LG-P925 using xda premium
Because 2.3.4 is not out for this device yet. And if you flash some random devices ROM on to your thrill its not going to work. But if you want to try and flash it. Go for it. But be fore warned, its not going to work. But if you must, flash the rom and see what happens.

Basically, that page is telling you to do something that just isn't possible at this time. In order to install CM7 (what that page is suggesting), someone will have to port it to our specific device. There are going to be things that will need drivers, recompiling, etc. before it can be installed on a Thrill.
Can we get a lock on this thread.before the flaming begins

Where's Mr. Clown when you need him?
Give the Guy a break. Everyone starts out learning like we all did. Basically the link you referenced was simply asking if it could be done, and like another poster explained a cyanogen mod would have to be created yet nobody has made one for the device yet most likely since its so new. Hope this helps.

Unfortunately LG has to build the source if you want to be able to use the 3D stuffs. We have cm7 that works but due to real3d being proprietary an aosp gingerbread build wont allow for that stuff to work.
Sent from my LG-P925 using Tapatalk
So we can't use 3D unless LG releases that build?!?!?!?!?

Patience. Remember that this is a new phone. And the 3D application is still new so it takes a bit to get things optimized for specialized features on devices.
I believe they're making some progress on CM for the EVO3D. Should be somewhat applicable.

There is also progress being made on the Optimus 3D, which is essentially the same device as ours. Patience will pay off on this one.
OP: don't take all the angry/annoyed comments too personally, I think my first post here got the same reaction! Nobody is trying to be an asshole to you though, its just that the rules are pretty clear but there's a constant influx of new members who unknowingly break the rules and it annoys the devs that want to use this sub-forum for its intended use. Just read the rules and you'll be good

I was running some unofficial build of CM7 for a couple weeks this month, it was clearly made for the optimus 3d, not thrill, and I didn't even try using any of the 3d applications because people complained about it causing force closes... But other than that, it was extremely impressive! The speed/fluidity was incredible. I didn't like how it handled storage, but that was my first time using CM7 so I probably just need to get used to it.
Anyway, if you can go without 3d for a while, the unofficial CM7 port for optimus 3d is impressive! I think the link is on the dev forum in optimus 3d. Oh, and I personally didn't have any problems with my network data, so I'd suggest trying it out before flashing some other radio, it might not be necessary.
Can this post be moved to the "General" section yet since there's no "Development" going on in it?
Some one please confirm that they got the gingerbread update and it is rootable.

I noticed it acting funny. I like to use the 'Brightness' app to change my screen brightness because it also allows me to get screen brightness even lower than built in tool.
the relevance to that is, is that I noticed if I switched the built-in brightness control to "Automatic", the home keys lights would then work properly and even if I switch the brightness with the "brightness" app.
So, try setting the brightness to 'Automatic' and see if that cures your issues.
-Cybie
Still having troubles with the home keys. Setting to auto brightness only fixes for small time
Swyped from my rooted revolution (GB)
it did fix it but once i turned off the auto brightness it dont light up again
Here it is if anyone wants to check it out. It is NOT deodexed.

In the process of deodexing the system apps right now, then will get to the framework and upload them when they're done.
EDIT: Deodexing keeps stopping so I didn't get them all. If anyone deodex's these apps, please let me know so I can link to them here as well.

XDA admins explained to me once that they want to wait to see if there would be enough interest in a particular phone. If there is development for it, they will likely create a forum for it.

Probably the same thing that happened to the Prime. Shipped with HC and like 3 weeks later got ICS. They just want the phone out there to get buzz going and then they make everyone feel good and update it to ICS so it seems like they care a lot more than they do. Plus t gives them the 1 update to the newest firmware that most phones get.

There are settings in CM9 for CPU control, however overclocking is NOT built in. There is a sticky on this on Droid Forums in their development section for D3, but honestly it is poorly written. If you need help with this, PM me and I will give you a complete walk through on how to accomplish it.
