I rooted and flashed to the Cognition ROM. I want to go back to stock and so I can get the Samsung over the air updates (2.2) when it comes out.
How can I do this? I tried the Odin one click unroot and when back to the stock software via Clockworky recovery/Rom manager....
Software updates fail though when the captivate restarts....
Nevermind I get ya now. The stock rom Odin one click isn't supposed to be flashed through clockwork. You need to read more.
PS, Questions belong in Q & A section.
Search for odin3 one-click downloader by designgears. I never worry about unrooting it. Odin does it for me.
Btw, Wrong section. Should be in q&a

There may be something comparable, but the odin for the Captivate only has the Captivate software.

I upgraded my captivate through att with official froyo on the 24th. I have just used superoneclick 1.65 to root my phone and give me the super user access app. I have deleted the stock bloatware apps from att and am now happy. I can't seem to figure how to get tethering unlocked. I have tried to use ROM Manager and clockmod recovery to load up cognition 4.0 but every time I go into boot up from recovery screen I get the signature verification failure. I already tried the update.zip deal as well. I am running kernel 2.6.32.9 build froyo.uckb1. All I want is the easiest and most direct way to get tethering on my phone and if needed put a new rom like cognition on here. Thank you so much for the help.

A search would have brought you to the fact that you need to fix the recovery so it will accept unsighned zip files. This has been brought up dozens of times in the past 48 hours. I just did the search and look what I found HERE
Hi guys, i've searched the forum, but i've mainly see people suggesting the z4 method.
Heres my problem; my phone (unrooted) was working fine up until yesterday, but when i tried booting it up today, it just goes straight to the boot loader. This phone has never been rooted before and after searching the forums, i've been suggested that rooting the phone could possibly help. I need a root method that can be rooted from bootloader. Obviously z4 is not an option since the phone will not boot up. Please advise.
Phone is currently running 2.2 froyo
Thanks in advance for your assistance,

Droid or Milestone? If you are on the Milestone, use RSD Lite to flash the vulnerable recovery from android.doshaska.net/rootable and install Androidiani Open Recovery from the sticky in Milestone Development section, root through AOR.

It's for the droid.
I was able to root using this method: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-labs/74028-root-droid-1-regardless-os-version.html
and then i installed the [ROM] SimpleROM v1.0 [ Froyo w/ Sense Styling + Working Flash 10.1 ].
THe rom installed successfully but when i reboot, i'm having the same issues.
It goes straight to bootloader.
and suggestions?
I followed some tips on how to upgrade my Sanyo Zio from 2.2 to 2.3, and when I restarted the phone in recovery mode thru the rom manager, it wont boot, just keeps flashing "sanyo" off and on... what do I do? HELP PLZ!! I am not tech savvy FYI
To my knowledge there is no 2.3 upgrade for the zio. You need to put the phone in modem download mode and flash the stock 2.2 rom.

My wife has a SCH-i800 through US Cellular. We have had it for a while but the awful software is just waaaaaaaaaaaaay too slow. I got it rooted last night with z4root. My next question, is there CWM for this tablet yet? I want to flash something along the lines of MIUI or CM7 or CM9 (if it's stable enough yet, my research suggested it might be unless someone has something contradicting to that)

got the ROM and gapps, now how do you get CWM on this thing? I know there is Odin and Heimdall...but I havent seen a modem for the USCC tablet. Or just use Sprint or Verizon's since they are all CDMA?
Bump for an answer? I searched all night last night trying to find out a way to get CWM on my wife's CDMA SCH-i800. gizmoninja had the process but not all the files. So I'm trying to find a set of instructions AND working files to get CWM on this tablet. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would be grateful.
search for:
overcome kernel
ODIN
Flash the kernel as on PDA section of odin
REboot
Wait for about 5 to 10 MINS
REboot to recovery and u'll have CWM
you can install the rom thru CWM
I dont think overcome support cdma tab.

oh, sorry i have no idea about cdma tab, well anyway, the pos sill stands, you may just have to seach for a kernel with CWM to flash into your tab...
