TouchWiz ICS - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I really like TouchWiz and would like having it on my Captivate running CM9 B17 with Glitch v14 B5. Does anyone know if this is possible? I only ask because the i9100 has an official ICS release with TouchWiz, is it possible to make a CWM flashable to get TouchWiz on here? I think I remember there being something like this for gingerbread.

Touchwiz4 for ICS
That is just the launcher.

I kinda want the whole framework, but that looks like a great start. Thanks! The thing I like about TouchWiz the most is the swiping left/right in contacts for call/text. Just think that's kinda cool, plus the overall look of it.

[Q] Port TW4 from SGS2 to SGS

I would like to have Touchwiz 4 on my I9000, i don't like the Touchwiz 3 that is with XXjvu. I allso tried the TW 4.5. I see some custom rom have Touchwiz 4 in it.
How can I port Touchwiz 4 from SGS2 to SGS. I thought someone would have done it I searched alot but I can't find any resources about it.
Could someone lead me in the right direction
T-ron
Tw 4 will probably make your phone freeze like it did for me. I tried few versions on few Gb roms and had same issue. I would suggest you just to pick one of alternative launchers from market.
They 'll give you more options, they're lighter and they wont freeze your phone.
TouchWiz 4 will eat all your RAM, it's very RAM hungry and will redraw always. That's why people here don't bother anymore porting it...
search for hawkish premium rom and flash the latest version of the rom.. you will get your touchwiz4 without the phone freezing or slowing down!

ICS messaging

Hello I just upgraded to the team ics sgs rom and its amazing but I really love the Samsung extras that are on the official from I installed touchwiz 4.0 on here but I was wondering if there is a compatible Samsung messaging app similar to the one on the official gb ROM?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
And the music app from stock 2.3.6 firmware?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
as I tried to explain in the other thread, 2.3.6 tw UI is much more usable and fits way better on sgs than ics.
you'll soon start to amass apps to try and replicate that usability, without getting it. That's why I'm waiting to see if sgs2 or sgs3 ics ports succeed. That'll give you both ics and full tw usability.
so far, sammy's gb vs ics is a trade-off between stability/usability and novelty.
Sorry, didn't realise three was a thread concerning this. And that would be great as for the Apps I'm doing that already but there's aspects of ics that are so great I've got a ported tw ui working on here I love it. Where would I be looking to see when the ported sgs2 or sgs3 roms come out for sgs?

not really. that is a cm9 based rom with tw launcher, and sammy colors and icons. As good as cm9 is (which is good indeed) but not a port of tw framework.
the thread is

but if I got it right it is a hard - really hard - task.

well, there's no thread about your specific question.

Thanks, I have now put my phone back to gb I do like PC's but **** me the battery is terrible compared to gb! Lol

Samsung Widgets on custom roms

Hello.
Back in the days of eclaire when NY captivate was stock, I really enjoyed having Samsung Widgets, like "buddies" or whatever it was called.
Fast forward to today, and I'm really liking this rom called TW-ICS which is CM9 with the touchwiz framework (I think) and the gs3 launcher port.
I'm really liking hoe the device feels, its got that stock zing that brought me to Samsung, but ics and rooted with a nice OC.
However, I still don't have the Samsung Widgets that I really enjoyed having back...a year ago (when I saw the light and came android from blackberry)
Is there any way to get this buddy Widgets like on stock roms, or even something like friend stream on htc?
Thanks.

Its like you read my mind lol...ive been asking my self the same question since i my self like the buddies, days and fb widget samsung has
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA
Do you know where I could get them? Or how I could run them on non-samsung software?
Sent from my SGH-I897 using XDA
Simple answer is you can't. Those Widgets need the touchwiz launcher as well as the Samsung framework files to work. Both of which CM rooms don't have. It is the same for sense

[Q] Gataxy Note: What's the most clean and unmodified ICS ROM? Any Nexus ported one?

Guys, sorry if this is a dumb question. And sorry about my English.
Well, I need to say that I'm really jealous about Galaxy Nexus users and their original Android, with those main buttons on the screen, etc.
So, could you please say what's the most original Android ROM for Galaxy Note? The most similar possible to the original Galaxy Nexys ROM. Including those screen buttons!
Thanks so much!
If you want a pure vanilla AOSP galaxy Nexus like.. There's several options... Personally I'm a big fan of cm9.. That's what I run on my gnex my gnote and my gtab 10.1

Thanks! But what about Android Open Kang Project? It's not a more original Ice Cream Sandwich than CM9?
What I mean is, with less "human interference" in it's "natural state"?

AOKG roms have more modifications than CM9. CM9 is more like AOSP that can run on any device. AOKP is like AOSP with highly customizable user experience, lots of new features to do with the launcher, system etc.

Ok, got it! After watching YouTube reviews about AOKP I saw that I can even change/add those softwares buttons in the botton of the screen. Pretty nice!
In terms of stability/bugs, at this time, CM9 is better than AOKP, right? Or they are the same?
My personal experience was that AOKP had a very slight performance edge but it suffered from SOD issues. CM9 has been stable and I am very happy with it.

Keep in mind that you will loose advanced S-Pen functionalities (kind of essential for our phones, I think!) if you go somewhere besides TW stock ROMS

I think cm9 and aokp are same in performance....but i will prefer aokp over cm9 anyday.....all the cm9 stuff + immense amount of customization....i haven't used cm9 since aokp has been released for our note....by the way...love the new touchwiz ux theme....

Yeah, you are right, but this may not be a serious problem for me as I never use S-Pen. And this is so true that I have Galaxy Note since march and the only time I used S-Pen for real was playing with a friend that game that we use "#" and put "x" and "o" in the spaces. (I don't know the name in English... hahaha)

After reading a lot, this is what I think also. Same stuff of CM9 + lots of customization. What I'm afraid is that I'm reading more bug/reboots/problems reports on AOKP.
And don't you prefer the original ICS visual? Don't know why, but I didn't like this Galaxy S 3 design, both in phisical and software terms!

Well to be honest I haven't noticed any bug or random reboots yet...to make it more clear..I am using it as my daily driver....so if I had any issues...I would have switched to any other Rom....and as far as looks goes....that's the beauty of the cm9 based roms...there are a lot of themes out there...including tw lookalike and even sense 4 lookalike...so for me aokp is the best out there....

Thanks again! I'll give a try to AOKP and wait for Jelly Bean on CM10.
And I need to say that even now, using the official Samsung LPT 4.0 ROM, I have sometimes some problems, even random reboots! So these kind of problems really can happen everywhere, with everyone, anytime.
But one thing is for sure. My goodbye to Samsung ROMs! (At least I don't use S-Pen!)
The pen works fine on CM9. You just can't use any of the button functions, but that's not a huge deal to me. Palm rejection was finally added, which is what I was waiting for the most.

Paranoid is a hybrid ROM. It includes tablet mode. Although it's great, it's far from Galaxy Nexus experience. Actually, it's completely different!

CM 10 Questions.

Hey Guys,
So I recently installed the stable version of CyanogenMod and I love it! I just have 2 questions.
1. I know its fast and smooth, but I recon cm 9 was better... is there a way to make cm 10 speed up and become smoother.
2. Is there a way to enable transitions on the home screen so that I can have like a cube effect when scrolling between home screens?
Thanks in advance
TechMennis
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda app-developers app
You can install GO Launcher for the home screen transitions. It's free and it's great.
Im a very big fan of go launcher but that was when I didn't flash ROMs and was on gingerbread. Now that I do flash ROMs and are on ICS variables I like to keep the stock experience with customization. Not full customization like go launcher (even though in some circumstances its very good) I'd just like cm9 with cm10 features haha. Hopefully a cm 10 10.1.0 comes out
