[Q] Refreshing Android Launcher and Home screens after applying a theme APK - Android Themes

I am working on customizing the android open source code's Launcher2 application. The modification I have brought to the Launcher2 application is such that, when I install an APK with some drawable resources , it would change the icons for some applications(browser, calculator and calendar) in Launcher screen and in home screen(if the application exists as shortcut) - as part of theming.
I have created a section in Settings application from which a user can apply new theme which would change these icons. While the user applies the new theme, a temp directory is created in Settings app which holds this newly applied icons. From this temp directory, Launcher app takes the icon resources and applies it to these applications on device reboot. But at the moment of applying the Themes from settings app, it does nothing in order that the Launcher app does some kind of refresh.
In a nutshell, the issue I have here is when I press the 'Change theme' button from my installed application, it does not change the icons immediately. Instead, I need to close the emulator and open it again in order to see the icons modified in Home and Launcher screens.
Why does this happen such that I need to restart the emulator to see the changed icons? What is the workaround I have for this? What are the classes and methods in ICS Launcher2 app, such that I can do some kind of refresh of Launcher app.
Any help in this regard would be much appreciated as I have been looking to fix this fr quite some days!!.
Regards, Anees

[Q] ADW EX with Custom Icons

How would I go on about taking the Icon package from MIUI theme, "Glowbusters" to use on ADW Ex? So that all the images would automatically change the actual app icon in the app-drawer? As well as giving apps without a dedicated image to have the same background+icon style as everything else?
I believe this is it: http://www.miui-dev.com/forums/show...Busters-5.0-TEAM-KOMMINATED-FIXED-TO-KICK-ASS
I'm aware it's for MIUI but all the icons are included in a folder within the archive, I was hoping to use it on Froyo+ADW Ex
Load the images into your gallery,
All the icons you want to change should be on one of your homescreens.
hold the icon you want to change until the mini popup menu comes up.
select edit and then press on the stock icon.
go to gallery and you should be able to select new icon.
I'm about 3 sheets to the wind right now so I really hope that is understandable
Yeah it's understandable, but what I mean is for the icons to automatically apply to the apps in the appdrawer not the icons on my homescreen. Then having it already applied in the appdrawer, if I were to bring those icons to my homescreen the icon would remain as well.
It sounds theme related where I would have to customize an adw-ex theme package or something
Ah, I see... you'd have to get someone to make an ADW theme as far as I believe. I was only on MIUI for about a day but I could've sworn that the icons changed in the drawer on adw... Are you using MIUI? If you still have the captivate, there is a port of it in the cappy forums

Change default Dailer / Remove "Touchwiz"

Hi all,
sorry if the question was answered already - i didn't find any similar posts.
I would like to remove or modify the "shotcuts" on the button of the screen. I do not use the default dailer nor do i use "s memo". Is there any chance of removing or at least modifying the stuff?
Cheers,
RIchard
Open the app drawer, press menu, press "edit".
You can try several Launcher to be able to modify the way how your Home Screens, AppDrawer, StatusBar and DockBar are displayed.
Check the forum/google for ADW Launcher, Go Launcher or Launcher Pro as a starting point. All launcher provide you multiples options on number of icons, change of icons, customizing the way the icons are displayed etc.
Hope this helps
impressive ... i didn't know that you can replace it easy like that . Thanks!
This is actually just a starting point. Android offers a wide range of modifications (not oly) regarding the UI... if you are interested in this topic you should further investigate on keywords like Android Themes, Morphing packages, JKay Deluxe...

Theme help - go launcher mainly

So I found a theme template that has compatibility for go launcher, adw and launcher pro...after exploring the folders I found what I have found in the few templates for go launcher....i can't find the icons that are specific to the theme...for example in go launcher there is this broom icon for clearing history and in the app drawer on the bottom right and left corners there are buttons for doing stuff. Also there is a whole menu drawer of icons i cant find int he drawable folders for go launcher. How do i get change these icons? I cant find the location of them so i can;t replace them. Do i have to edit the xml?
In another template for go launcher only i was able to find the icons for the menu..but after replacing them they didnt change..as well i couldn;t find the locations of the little broom icon etc...

Put your android style Samsung Touchwiz

Hello friends, this is my first post that I hope is useful. I will teach you to have the launcher touchwiz for your phone (COMPATIBLE WITH ANDROID 4.2+) We will need 3 applications and root access.
The first application is the nova launcher prime, (you can easily download it by looking for the apk in google) the more updated the better.
Once the nova launcher is downloaded, go to the Root explorer or the Es file manager. And paste the apk replacing the system launcher by default or adding it to system / app (I replaced the old touchwiz because I do not like outdated) Once this is done, we will have the most customizable launcher in our system.
Now the second apk is: TW Icons, (in the play store is only the application of pay then you can find the apk in google).
Once downloaded the apk we move to system / app.
THE BEST OF THIS APPLICATION IS THAT IT DOES NOT SPEND RAM, NO CACHE OR DATA WHEN USED IT.
When restarting the device we will have the nova launcher and TW Icons downloaded. We will access the configuration of Nova and in Appearance, we will put in icons by default those of TW icons, and the application drawer we move it to the right.
I think the size and color of the letter already know modify and to hide applications that do not want on the menu go to applications, go down and enter 'Hide applications'.
Now in the configuration of nova, we go back to applications we deactivate the option of: frequently used applications & applications in card (lollipop style).
Then we go to: Wallpaper (Color and Transparency) and we put everything transparent.
After this will have your launcher as close to touchwiz as possible. I recommend you back it up in Nova if you format your cell phone not having to configure everything again. I hope you have served them and remember: TW Icons does not spend RAM
